This is a multifunction printer but be aware it only scans, copies, and prints. This model has no fax or wireless capability. That was a good trade-off for me. The printer is nicely built and has easy to access cartridges. The prices for the cartridges seems pretty good for the rated output so this seems like a good value for the occasional color print user. Unlike an inkjet printer the color laser doesn''t mind going a long time without use. Black and white text printing is outstanding. Color printing is good and is of consumer grade. To save energy, and this printer is 850 watts when warmed up, there are built-in energy saving features like auto stand-by after 15 minutes. I leave it off and turn it on when needed. There is a about a 45 second warm up period. B/W printing is fast after the first print, color is slower but meets my needs.

Color copying and scanning work well with good quality output. It is really nice to have color copying at a such an affordable price. I installed on an iMac running OSX 10.7 Lion. After installing the Samsung software the Mac''s Software Update found newer software. There is a built-in Utility app accessible through the Mac System Preferences>Fax and Print pref pane. Scanning works through Apple''s scanning software.

Its compact size makes it versatile for smaller spaces. This has been the printer I have been waiting for. The ability to print and copy in color, while also producing high quality B/W printing, and scanning too for less than $200 is a great addition to my home office.

Things I don''t like: The software for Macs in the Samsung online support page is poorly marked and has little documentation to help decipher the options. Since there is no wireless or fax you really just need to install the latest driver, then let Software Update do the rest. It is slow but all color laser printers are slow to get started. Power consumption is high so you can save by printing in batches and powering off when not using the computer. The paper tray is a little tricky to remove and load, and it does not hold a large amount of paper.

Things I like: Nice compact design, clearly marked buttons and a LCD status screen. Great features and output for the money. Easy to access and change cartridges. Absolutely quiet when not in use.

***warning-not wireless capable***

***warning-not network capable***

***warning-USB cable necessary but not included***

I just got this printer. It''s a great size for what it does, it looks nice, and the first print job came out beautifully. One annoyance is that there was no USB cable included. In order to use the printer, you will need a USB cable of the kind that printers use (with the squarish connector on one end). It does say on the box that the USB cable is not included, but that was not apparent when I was ordering on line. Also, I was surprised to find out the printer is not wireless or even network capable (Samsung makes similar models that are wireless capable--look for N, W, or FW tacked onto the model number). Because it''s not networkable, you cannot plug it into your router and use it as a network printer. In order to share it on a network, you have to either share it from the computer that you plug it into, or get a wireless router that acts as a USB printer server. However, sharing from the Mac computer that it''s plugged into seems to work fine, for both printing and scanning.

Samsung''s telephone tech support is excellent. Also, software installation on the Mac was as easy as you would hope for from Apple--just plug and play and use Apple''s Image Capture application to scan. No need to install the software on the CD.

Picked this up on black Friday for under $100 shipped. Wow! I never imagined the day where I could buy a color laser printer for that kind of price. It''s fairly compact. It''s quiet and prints very well. I''m replacing my inkjet all in one and much prefer this for daily use. I like not having to worry about inks drying out, streaking on certain papers, etc. Love that I don''t have to worry about buying new cartridges all the time. Black yields 1500 pages! That''s about 2.6 cents a page. Not bad! This is a great machine that I can definitely recommend. Scanner works well. Wished I could have gotten the step up model with document feeder but for 3 times the price I could not justify it. Even for twice what I paid it''s a bargain.

I don''t know where you''d find a better color laser printer/scanner/copier for the price (got it on sale for 120). If the CLX-3185 has the features you need, I think you''ll be happy with it. Note that some people with early versions of the CLX-3185 had issues with paper jams. This has since been fixed with a firmware update. Some people don''t like to have to update a brand new electronic product, but that''s relatively common these days. Anyway, I don''t think you''ll be disappointed with this printer, especially if you get it at a good price. And no more ink to dry up and/or clog the print heads like inkjet printers. That, plus a sharp color laser which includes a scanner and copier in a relatively compact size made it a good deal for me.

I wish I would have never bought this printer. I have had nothing but problems. It worked for the first couple of days, then got a paper jam. There are no pieces of paper left in there, but it continues to jam in the back. I have taken it apart and cannot find cause as to why it keeps jamming. I am using good quality paper and not overfilling the paper tray. I am very disappointed with this printer, as I have never had a problem with Samsung products in the past.
