Moab Entrada Rag Fine Art, 2-Side Inkjet Paper

Simply put Moab paper is not manufactured consistently. The quality can vary wildly and the people that run the company won''t own up to that fact. If you get a good batch of paper the quality is excellent for the price point. However, I have printed on quite a bit of Kayenta and Entrada that exhibits many and varied surface defects. Coating that flakes off; faint surface abrasion that isn''t noticeable until you print an image with a lot of ink density (read skid marks in the shadows) and loads of dust in some rolls that can make a general mess of your printer and your prints (invariably the dust blocks ink making it to the surface of the paper and when if finally moves you are left with a white spot). Hahnemühle paper is more expensive but by the time you get done pitching all the screwed up prints you end up with when using Moab products I''d say the cost is the same (especially if you count your time and frustration). Having worked in a darkroom for years I expect my inkjet paper to be as reliable as my photo paper. Not so with Moab. For a budget proofing paper try the Illuminata available through Inkjet Art and the papers available through Red River. Both brands are head and shoulders above Moab with regard to quality control.

I have been using this paper in both cut sheets and in rolls for the last two years. Unlike the previous reviewer, I have found the batches to be very consistent. It is a beautiful paper with good balance and works great with all three of my Epson Printers. I get good range of color and very nice detail. The 300 is too thick for the consumer printers, so I use the 190 when I run panoramas on my R2400. I find that even between these I don''t need to worry about consistency.

I would say that The manufacturer does need to improve their canned profiles. Don''t get me wrong, These profiles do a very good job. But if you can do your own profiles, you will find that the color range this paper can handle is much greater than the canned profiles. Also, a separate profile for B&W really makes this paper shine! It is the best paper I have found for high quality black and white prints.

One last note, be sure to set the platen width to wide (at least on the Epson printers)! Otherwise there will be head strikes with the 300 paper.

Profiled correctly and with a properly configured printer, you will get spectacular results.

I have used both the 190 and 300 g versions of Moab entrada bright paper.

The color gamut is very good, although it does have some problems in

the greens and red-oranges. Still, the only paper that I have found

that is competitive in this respect is the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag bright,

which also has some gamut limitations, and is twice or more the price.

(I am printing on a 12-color, Canon ipf8100 printer using icc profiles

from Moab and Andy Biggs.)

The surface texture lends a fine art quality to the images, transcending

merely the "photo" look that traditional photographic "RC" papers produce.

The right image is essential. High contrast B&W does NOT belong on this

paper (instead try Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl or Byarta) unless you want

a charcoal or pencil sketch appearance. Landscapes can become truly

"fine art" in appearance, and wildlife can have a 3-dimensional look

(e.g. the hair or fur) with excellent resolution of the details.

I have not had problems with the surface coating. You can spray

protecting "varnish" (both moab and hahnemuhle sell cans of this), but

behind glass this is not necessary.

I use the HP MATTE Brochure & Flyer paper (8.5"x11") for making all forms of greeting cards, gift cards and note cards on a Canon Pixma ip4700 and Pixma MP600. Color is great, even on the "standard" print selection, and the bright white jumps out at you when you open the card to reveal the verse inside. It''s also easy to write on with ball point pen, to sign the greeting cards. I love this paper! I see reviews that refer to it as not being GLOSSY but this is MATTE paper, not glossy. I''ve used this paper (Q5445A) from the box shown and from the blue and white HP box and both work the same as far as print color and quality. I always have at least 4 boxes on hand and just purchased another 3 boxes from a seller here on Amazon at a great price. If you''re looking to print photos with people in them, this isn''t the paper I''d recommend. But for outdoor or indoor scenes, it''s great. And for making your own greeting cards, I can''t say enough good things about it!

I love this paper. It''s got a great thickness and the end result looks fantastic! There was a review about the lack of gloss to this paper giving it only one star, however I believe they may have overlooked the fact that this is a matte paper and not glossy. I love this and will buy again and again!

I love the HP matte brochure paper and use it for a variety of uses. It is almost as thick as card stock and it works great in binder windows, either as a cover or on the spine. This is much easier to get in a binder pocket than regular flimsy paper. I also use it to print out certificates and anything where a little extra heft is important.

The print quality is much better than plain paper and almost as good as photo paper (although not glossy.) If my kids need to print photos for school, or report covers, they use this to get great quality, but a lot cheaper than photo paper. Plus you can print on both sides.

I got this free from HP when I bought a computer. I suspect HP sells these printers so cheaply because they make bigger money selling you ink.

I haven''t had any problems with it software or performance. But it''s just adequate. After making 10 copies the ink indicator was at 2/3. It really only scans marginally well. If you want it for color scans or pictures take time to research better printers.

HP makes good moderate-use printers and this is one.

Don''t even accept it as a freebie (as I did) unless you are prepared to pay $1.15 per sheet for color ink. That was my experience with the first color cartridge, which was fully consumed on a total of 20 sheets, 12 of which were heavy color, the others being mixed color and text or very light color. At $17.99 per color cartridge and $14.99 for black I calculate the outrageous, obscene $1.15 per sheet figure for ink. This is about six times greater than the average ink cost for my old HP720c, which unfortunately does not work with my new HP Pavilion PC (no printer port on this model, among other issues). I have vowed to not purchase any HP product in the future if I can possibly avoid it. I just ordered a Canon Pixima to replace this ink hog. On the positive side, the print quality is good, speed is excellent, and color fidelity is fair. The software installed without incident, and the machine is easy to operate, but the HP software is overbearing and constantly trying to sell you something--worse than daytime television.

This would be an outstanding printer if it weren''t for the fact that it uses the HP21 and HP22 cartridges. These cartridges only hold 5 mL of ink. So it will appear to be an ink hog, but the real problem is that the ink capacity of these cartridges is way too small. In contrast, the HP14 cartridge holds 26 mL of black ink. You would have to replace your HP21 cartridge 5 times to get the same amount of prints as someone who used an HP inkjet printer that uses the HP14 cartridge.

Bottom line, this is a very good printer that you will end up buying a lot of replacement cartridges for. I can''t recommend it for that reason alone.

Bought this all-in-one printer and the install disc was bad. Prints test page every time I turn it on. Won''t print. Jobs get stuck and cannot cancel. Spoke with customer service for 1.5 hours! Yes, that long. They would not refund me and told me that I should have did a better job researching their products. They got that right. All I could get was a refurbished replacement that also performs like crap. HP has lost a customer forever, and I am making it my mission to share with everyone how terrible they are with products and customer service. Canon, meet your next customer.

I moved up to a MP620 from a previous Canon printer. While I''ll admit with the previous post that the ink wells are smaller, but they also use less drops of ink than my older model and gives out a MUCH better picture. And if you install the software that comes with the MP620, it will pop up showing a low cartridge, then click the exclamation above the tank, it will give you the part number needed. You can even click the ''about ink'' button and will give you a nice large printable list of the ink part numbers.

I''ll admit I still use local print shops for large quantities of 4x6 images, but single 4x6 or any other I can print with very pleasing results.

NOTE: The Canon Photo print software gives a more true to life color than either Photoshop or Lightroom. I know something needs to be changed in the Adobe software, but I haven''t figured it out yet.

Excellent product. I suggest to readers that you consider using OEM products for printers. I screwed up my Canon printer using an off brand. You may go for some years with no problems using off brands and save some heavy duty money and it will pay for itself. However, if your printer fails early on because of off brand you are a loser. I have a good printer and will just pay the extra dollars. Some of my off brands were empty. Some would not work and the last batch dorked up my printer for good.

I have a new Canon MX 860 printer. It is set on grayscale, fast. Rarely ever print in color, but this machine goes through the ink much more quickly than any other copier I have had. The manual says the copier will use color ink even in the grayscale mode. Be prepared to buy copious amounts of ink. Consumer Reports rated this printer tops, a recommended buy. They did not mention high ink consumption.

This is a superb paper for both color and monochrome inkjet printing, but because I generally prefer a lustre or glossy surface for my color work, I will discuss this paper only in connection with black & white printing, for which Hot Press Bright has become my "go to" paper. Hot press bright has an extremely smooth, bright white matte surface exhibiting very rich, deep blacks, excellent sharpness, and a long, smooth tonal scale. Unlike other matte papers I have tried I find that Hot Press Bright exhibits minimum curl and loads relatively easily into the rear manual paper feed with a minimum of jamming. The paper''s weight is substantial without being overly heavy. I find that Hot Press Bright is a perfect fit for my personal photography which primarily consists of landscapes, interiors and graphics with an emphasis on line, form, and spatial relationships. Photographers whose work focuses on people may prefer a slightly warmer paper such as Hot Press Natural. Because inkjet print quality is so closely tied to the printer, profile, ink, and paper combination in use, as well as the accuracy of monitor calibration, I can only vouch for my own system setup which consists of a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard, an Eizo Monitor utilizing the manufacturer''s calibration software in conjunction with a Spyder2 Colorimeter, an Epson Stylus Pro 3880 printer utilizing Epson Ultrachrome K3 inkset, and Epson''s built in Advanced Black & White print mode. In short I don''t think you can go wrong with this very excellent paper from Epson.

There is a lot of misinformation going around about Zebra printers. I like many others have had a lot of difficulties trying to get several models of these little Zebra printers to work with a number of selling websites including PayPal USPS & UPS shipping labels, and also the UPS shipping website and the USPS site.

I called UPS and they told me that a number of of these printers won''t work on their shipping website. They also told me that the Zebra ZP-450 CTP will only work with Worldship, a software package provided by UPS. The ZP-450 CTP printer won''t work on their shipping website or with PayPal labels.

NOTE. The UPS website is not Worldship.

Though the Worldship software might be free, PayPal UPS accounts are blocked from working on Worldship. You would have to open a new UPS account. Since most of us are not large corporations, the shipping costs will be higher than through PayPal.

Also note. PayPal is getting rid of UPS and is going with FedEx. In May 2013, you will no longer be able to print UPS labels from eBay PayPal.

We received this label printer with our Dell/UPS workstation. We''ve had it for about six months, use it daily, and it just works away. I don''t have to think about it, which to me means its doing its job perfectly. The Dell we''re using was built specifically for UPS shipping, so that''s probably why we haven''t had any USB or driver issues. YMMV.

This printer does not work on Mac''s and I couldn''t get it to work with USPS or eBay. After contacting Zebra they said it only works with UPS on a windows PC.

First, these were designed to be UPS only (specifically for worldship) printers and as such setup for other uses can be a little tricky. Depending on who you buy them from, the seller will go out of their way to help (ours did). Our biggest complaint is that when turning on, or switching out label stock the unit will go through four to six labels to calibrate spacing. With the specific unit we have print quality is highly variable from label to label, and stock to stock. That may simply be due to age (ours was refurbished) we don''t know. Overall, we would recommend getting one of these only if they are the only option in your budget range. All that said, if you have a lot of work to do, and have really good quality labels, it prints as fast as you can work, if not faster.

The printer is great and highly rated, but I jumped at the thoughts of having one for $335. I made the mistake of thinking that it was adjustable from 120 volts to 240 volts. NO SUCH LUCK! I am resourceful and for about $70 I bought a transformer from Litefuze model LR 1000 that converts 120 volts to 220 volts and the printer works great plugged into that. I do shut the transformer down when I am not using the printer as it draws power whether the printer is operating or not. The transformer has a power switch on the front that makes this an easy operation. I love the fact that the printer coughs out the first page in seconds and the next in rapid order. I am happy with the deal and it was definitly cheaper than buying a 120v printer of the same make and model.

If Charles Barkley ever had to deal with this printer he would say it''s turrbull. Every time (and I do mean EVERY FREAKING TIME) I use this thing it wants to print the allignment page. It says there''s a paper jam about 90% of the times I try to print (of course there isn''t one) and I have to restart it multiple times to get it to work. It goes through ink like Mexican water goes through your stomach. The print quality is fair once it finally does print. I would say on a scale of 1-10 the print qulaity is about a 6 and the annoyance factor is roughly as high as America''s national debt. I''ve averaged that out and generously given it 2 stars.

Buy this machine! If you are in the market for an office printer this BROTHER MFC-J220 should fit the bill. You can enhance their colour, contrast and hue with a program BROTHER provides with the package called FACEFILTER STUDIO. You''ll get the look your looking for and if you''re creative you''ll even have fun doing it. And if you''re concerned about the racket some of these printers make, don''t worry, it is very quiet and and won''t wake up the neighbours.

What else? The scanner is fantastic. Images are crystal clear and so easy to capture. You can enter them into your computer for viewing. The fax is great, too. Receive and send faxes and capture these to your computer''s memory. Very easy and the machine uses standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper (no need to purchase special fax "rolls").

What''s the downside? You''ll have to buy photo paper (not included). The paper tray assembly is very fragile plastic and you best be very ginger with it or else! It is not a WIRELESS unit, so you must direct wire it (but by golly, how many customer reviews have I read where connecting to the wireless is a fate worse than death? Rather not mess with that, anyhow). And the scanner will not work with legal size documents, letter size only. No big deals, these.

This is the best printer I have ever purchased for several reasons.

1. Cheap! I am currently a college student in my own apartment with my girlfriend who is in med school. We print over 150 pages a month and our ink tends to last at least 3+ months. We have found ink cartridges for around $14 for a 12 pack of color and black cartridges. The normal computer paper costs more then the ink which in my experience never happens.

2. This printer is reliable. It has not jammed since I have owned it for 2 years and it prints relatively fast compared to all previous printers I have ever owned.

3. Convenient! You can print from any room in our apartment because it runs through your WiFi. It was very easy to set up. Less then 5 min.

4. Copy and Scans documents well. The copy is standalone and does not require the printer, the LCD screen reads SD memory cards, and the scanner can works wireless as well.

5. Looks nice and does not stand out. It is in our living room and its hard to tell its even there.

I am only writing this review for how impressed I am with this machine.

We bought the MFC-J220 less than a year ago because it was small and was able to fit into our motorhome with no problem. We don''t use a printer all that much, but as lots of other people will tell ya, it''s best to have one around when ya need it. It worked well with the test page and a couple of other things we printed, then it sat for a few days. When we tried to print again, it said it was out of yellow ink. As we''d bought extra ink, it wasn''t that much of a problem, but we couldn''t understand why it why it would need ink that fast. Turns out that it leaks ink with the ink going into the bottom of the printer and eventually overflowing out of it. Thought maybe this was due to us moving, but we didn''t move the motorhome for weeks and had to replace two yellow cartridges.

I am very happy with my purchase. I wanted a back-up printer to my MFC6490CW so it was important that the back-up printer used the same print cartridges. This unit is very compact and does a beautiful print job and has a very good print speed. All the controls are nicely laid out. I am very happy with this purchase.

If your looking for a good little printer that does what the company says it will do, this one will work for you. Admittedly, I haven''t tried the fax feature yet, but if it''s like the rest of the machine it''ll set-up and work easily. Printed plain paper pictures very well, text is clear and the scanner, well, it scanned!

I am very pleased with my new HP K5400TN Office pro color printer. It has proven to be the Ideal printer for a small home based business or for that matter for any small business needs. It prints very well and fast and with the double tray it can hold more than 500 sheets of paper. I replace the ink cartridges one at a time and don''t have to worry about the unit stopping in mid sentance as others have done. It also prints color very well, great colors. I love it.

I am not completely satisfied with this printer. The paper seems to jam often in the intake mechanism and is then difficult to dislodge. It is also very LOUD.

On the positive side:

The print copy is clear and the printer (when working right) is fast.

I have been using HP printers for many years and was surprised that the quality of this model was not as good as my last four HP printers.
