Canon BJC-55 Color Bubble Jet Printer

Canon BJC-55 Color Bubble Jet Printer
  • 720 by 360 dpi print resolution
  • Desk-top quality printing in a compact model
  • Built-in USB and Fast IrDA
  • Prints black text at 5.5 pages per minute, color text at 2 pages per minute
  • Convenient wireless printing from compatible computers or hand-held organizers

On the go, I frequently need to print out documents, be it invoices, reciepts, e-mails, etc etc so I decided to purchase this product. Words cannot describe my feelings toward it, I use it soo much with the laptops I don''t know how I lived without one before. Installation on Windows 2k, and ME was flawless, both using the Fast IrDA.

The printer is just the perfect size to slide in to my briefcase, and adds little weight. It''s battery operation is really what caught my eye, it says you can print about 100 pages with a full charge, but I think its a bit less than that. However, the battery takes little time to charge.

I was not aware it would come with as much ink as it did, came with 2 color cartidges, 1 black (small), and 1 black (large), as well as two trays that they are held in. The Fast IrDA is such a fabulous thing, wireless printing all the way. I decided to purchase a USB cable, its much easier some times using the cable then the IrDA (Infared) port. The quality of the documents is fantastic, matching (and beating!) my desktop printers at home. The speed is good, considering this is a portable printer. The only real drawback is that it is a single sheet feed printer, unless you buy the paper loader, which I will surely do! This is THE BEST portable printer I''ve found on the market, it is well worth the money.

This is a small update, I''ve been using the printer for about 5 months now, and everything has gone smoothly. I purchased the auto-sheet feeder from Canon (directly, from their web site) and it performs just like a normal desktop printer would! I''m still loving it.

I needed a printer to go with my Notebook and this one filled the bill. It isn''t cheap but you seem to get what you pay for. When at home, adding the Auto Sheet Feeder makes it as convenient as a stationary printer but with a smaller footprint. Highly recommend this one for the Notebook users.

I watched this printer for years and I was waiting for the price to drop. I finally caved in a bought a refurb 1 year ago.

Pro: Lightweight 2Lbs(with battery), USB, battery powered, comes with AC adapter, size is small to fit in a back pack. Works with my Tablet PC software.

Con: High quality mode is slow compared to today''s printers as well as resolution. Old type of feeding one page at a time. Could not get the IR to work. I suspect that my computer IR is not compatible. I just carry a very small USB cable.

I have looked at the current portable printers and they are all 5-6LBS. Yes they probably have great quality and photos but I don''t need that. My purpose for this printer is to do quick print outs of 2 to 3 page reports, drafts and boarding passes. It fits so well in a computer bag with my slate and some paper.

The company that can produce a better quality printer with this size and weight will make money. That is probably why this printer has not dropped much in price even used. It''s the year 2006 and it sells higher than the current canon and hp used.

I JUST BOUGHT THIS PRINTER FOR MY LAPTOP.

IT WAS VERY EASY TO INSTALL AND EASY TO WORK WITH. THE PRINTING IS GREAT, AND QUICK FOR A BUBBLE JET. THE COLOR IS VERY GOOD.

  • Professional Glossy Surface
  • Superb Photographic Image Quality
  • Professional look and feel of real Photograph
  • Compatible with both Pigment and Dye based inks

it''s very nice paper that has deep shadows and detailed highlights. It''s surface is highly reflective, reminding me of when you ferrotyped the paper to produce a high sheen and greater transparency. I would prefer a thicker base.

This paper is great ! It''s glossy but not too much. I printed my final portfolio on this paper, and the pictures looked GREAT ! I love it. I would definitely recommend this paper if you never printed on glossy and that you want to know how it looks like without having super dupper glossy prints.

.

Lots to like about this printer. Well designed, loads of features. Keeping it fed is the problem.

If it starts to feel like an expensive drug habit, see "8 ways to lower your ink costs" below.

Or consider the Brother MFCJ425W which cooperates with value-priced 3rd party inks.

Ink Cost: It Adds Up -

This little $70 printer may cost you $1000+ over a 5 year period. With easy $45 installments, Canon hopes you won''t do the supply-gouge math.

To get the party started ASAP, Canon ships the printer with cartridges that are 30% and 45% full. (Or 70% and 55% empty if you prefer. See Note 1 for Canon ink details.)

The ink refills (240 and 241 series) include a chip and the actual print heads. This discourages knock-offs. (It also means any print head problem is easily solved with a new cartridge.) You can refill the cartridges with 3rd party refill kits, but apparently you also need a chip reset if you want the refilled cartridge to report ink levels correctly.

PROs and CONs -

PROs:

Lots of handy features

Print quality seems good

WiFi connect (requires wireless router)

Print directly from iPhone, iPad, iPod

Clean, attractive design

Ease to use: buttons are easy to read, and make sense

OKs:

1 year warranty

Setup: Reasonably easy, with some confusing moments

Owner manual: On CD. No printed manual. Good navigation, reasonably clear and complete

Footprint is 16" x 17.6" (12" x 17.6" when paper tray not in use.)

Black exterior shows dust

Standby power: 1.65 watts with (WiFi on). Zero or unmeasurable wattage when switched off.

CONs:

* Expensive ink (like most inkjet printers. See Note 3)

* High-tech cartridges make 3rd party ink much more difficult

Combined 3-color cartridge 10% to 30% of color ink may be wasted

No hard-wired networking option

Auto shut-off: Nice energy-saving idea, but doesn''t work in most situations (see Note 2).

Alternatives -

Brother MFCJ425W (cooperates with 3rd party inks that have low cost & good reviews)

Epson Artisan 730 (cartridge chips thwart 3rd party ink suppliers)

Eight ways to lower your ink costs -

1. Buy a printer that uses more affordable inks. Step 1: Discover a planet where printer companies charge their ink customers less than 800% of manufacturing cost. If that''s too much trouble, get the Brother MFCJ425W and use 3rd party cartridges.

2. Own a laser printer and use it most of the time. The Brother MFC7860DW, Brother HL-2270DW, and their siblings have the lowest supply cost around. About 1-2 cents per page vs 12-25 cents per (non-photo) page for most inkjets.

3. Inconvenience is your friend. On the off chance that your kids, spouse, or office staff don''t know or care about what things cost, put your color printer off the beaten path. Upstairs...powered off...barbed wire...you get the idea. It''s a silent reminder that the color printer is not for random everyday use.

4. Buy the XL and XXL cartridges. The cheaper PG-240 and CL-241 are twice as expensive per milliliter of ink.

5. Preview each print job and reduce the page range when possible. Especially when printing Web pages.

6. Shrink your printing...2 pages-to 1, 4-to-1 etc. when it make sense. Make sure everybody knows how easy this is to do.

7. Holiday letters: 20% to 50% of your loved ones would be happier with an emailed holiday letter. Print your letter to a pdf file with the free and easy-to-use CutePDF software.

8. Ink Refill Kits: ND Brand Refill ink kit for Canon PG-240, CL-241, ND 1000ml refill ink kit for Canon PG-240 CL-241, etc. They drop your ink cost to 1/10 or 1/30 of Canon cost. But they''re kind of a hassle, there are not many reviews yet, and apparently your refilled cartridge will not report ink levels correctly without a chip reset. Quality seems unknown at this point. Also, if your cartridge print head wears out after a few refills, the savings will be less than stated above.

Notes -

Note 1: Canon Ink Choices: PG-240 and CL-241 are starter cartridges 30% and 45% full. PG-240XL and CL-241XL give you about 1.7 to 2.2 times as many pages. That''s about 300-400 standard (ISO/IEC 24712) test pages. PG-240XXL is a fully topped off Black cartridge that gives about 3.3 times the output of a PG-240. There is no XXL color cartridge. For more detail, google "Canon Inkjet page yields".

Note 2: Auto shut off is easily set for 15 to 240 minutes (or Never) but mine never shuts off. Apparently because "The Auto power off setting is invalid when using the machine via network."

Note 3: Ink Cost Studies: QualityLogic''s impressive side-by-side comparison of ink costs (per page) says this model''s ink cost is higher than average, but their numbers do not reflect savings from XL and XXL cartridges. It''s going to take more digging to do a fair comparison. Google "QualityLogic ink cost analysis".

SETUP:

Pretty much basic for a printer. Although Windows 7 didn''t have drivers for the printer, the CD included did.

Connection to the PC was uneventful. There is a USB cable provided but you can connect via WiFI.

PROS:

SMALL FOOTPRINT/size for a printer + scanner:

This is a good choice if you don''t want a huge printer taking up a lot of desk space. It is about the same size as my previous printer BUT it includes a scanner.

DUPLEX PRINTING:

-(aka double sided) printing. for things such as archived TAX RETURNS.

PRINT QUALITY:

It has very good photo and document print quality. Don''t forget to ALIGN the print heads!

INK CARTRIDGES:

When you replace the cartridge, you also replace the -headsso the print quality doesn''t deteriorate from extended use or time.

There are only two (1-black and 1-color)cartridges so you aren''t having to replace a a single cartridge as often.

SIMPLE CONTROL PANEL:

Easy to use control panel without multiple menus to complicate what should be a simple job.

CONS:

INK CARTRIDGES:

(YES-PRO & CON) When you replace the cartridge, you also replace the -heads-. So you will pay MORE for ink cartridges. You may have to replace a color cartridge before all the colors are out.

SOFTWARE:

The software that is included is pretty much useless. What I like to do when printing pictures is print four pictures on a standard 8 1/2" x 11" sheet. (for obvious reasons printing on separate 4" x 6" will cost you much more) The software provided, My Image Garden) does not allow this.

However, other Canon software does. The product is EASYPHOTOPRINT and it works with this printer.

OVERALL:

If you want a small footprint printer/scanner this might fit your needs.

This has an easy to use control panel for offline use but if you want a color LCD screen this is not the printer for you.

INK USAGE:

I am very disappointed by the ink use. Having used the printer for a while I can report that after printing exactly -1081/2x11 sheets of photos, the color ink ran out!

I don''t know how much more ink is in the XL cartridges or how much longer they last but the cost per page is very expensive at that rate.

UPDATE: After installing a NEW ink cartridge I found that the one shipped with the printer was lacking in ink quantity. AND there are now re-ink kits available should you choose to use them.

Printing speed: Black: mediocre. Color: slow, very slow.

Scanning: slow

Scan quality: good tent to be more blue than original picture

cost of replacement ink: $30 each, $50: kit

It is a heavy unit. The setup is not as straight forward.

The included installation CD requires you to download a few hundred MB of additional software. Took a while to complete.

Setting up wifi wasn''t easy. The USB cable is required for initial set up.

The most important: Airprint for iPad!!! I got this specifically for the airprint function. It took a while for this to register on the network for the iPad to detect. There''s no separate setup on the IOS to change the settings for the printer. Only on specific apps on iPad can you use airprint. The airprint prints like a screen shot, not full page to the letter size.

The printer is a good price all purpose scan/print/airprint printer.

The replacement cartridges are reasonablely priced. I have yet to count how many copies it can print with each cartridge. The colors are nice and vibrant.

The speed needs much improvement.

This printer worked great and was very easy to set up. However, it advertises that you can print from your iphone or android device. Kinda true, but not really. It seems to fully support airprint, which is great for Apple users. However, if you have an android based devise you can only print pictures from your gallery, and canon produced pdf. You cannot print documents, emails, webpages, pdf''s, google docs, etc. That was what I wanted it for mainly, so I am returning it. I think the packaging is a bit deceptive. It was a nice printer, but really not functional for Android printing.

Brother DS-600 DSMobile Scanner Save 34% off

Brother DS-600 DSMobile Scanner - Retail Packaging
  • Ships in Certified Frustration-Free Packaging
  • Small, compact design: Measuring 1.5" in height, 2.0" in depth, 11" in length weighing only 12.2oz.
  • The DSmobile 600 provides the versatility to scan media from business card size to 8.5 x 14" paper size.
  • The unique USB power/data interface draws power directly from the PC and comes with a detachable USB cable.
  • The DSmobile 600 connects to a high-speed USB 2.0 interface yet only consumes only 0.2W of power when in standby mode

The DS-600 scanner is a super light-weight scanner that barely takes up any room on your desk. I admit that when I opened up the box and saw this scanner, I didn''t expect it to work all that well it seemed too small and too light to do a good job. However I was pleasantly surprised.

Although it''s tempting to connect everything at once, there is a warning that you must install the driver and scanner software before connecting everything. The CD-ROM offers the install in several languages and it is very easy (and quick) to install everything needed.

I scanned several documents of various sizes a one page black and white document in a very small font, a take-out menu, a business card, some pages in bright colors with lots of contrast, and several photos. All documents scanned perfectly the small fonts of one document were clear and scanned to match exactly the existing document. For the color documents the one document with bright colors and high contrast and the photo (with faded colors) were identical to the original documents. Note that you can''t modify the documents (for example, some scanners provide options to tweak photos that''s not available here.)

You can save documents in PDF, JPG and TIFF format. File names and locations are easy to change. You can save documents in these sizes: letter, legal, A4, B5, A5, A6 and Business Card. There are options and settings that you can customize, but you don''t need to it works perfectly straight out of the box.

Documentation (besides the piece of paper that warns you to install the product before plugging in the scanner) consists of a ~50 page User Guide in PDF format that''s on the CD-ROM. I''d say "User Guide" is a misnomer as while it does a good job describing how to install (for Windows and Mac systems) the scanner driver, Dsmobile scanner, and PageManager, it barely describes how to "use" the scanner (besides connecting it, calibrating, and clicking the desktop icon). The DSmobile scanner comes with two 4x6 sleeves which besides telling that you should clean them, are never described (I''m assuming you should use them to scan photos as that''s how I used them). The scanner''s options and ability to customize also aren''t documented. Luckily the product is easy to use.

The CD-ROM also lets you install PageManager vsn 7.x which you can use to view, organize, edit, and send your digital files. I didn''t play too much with PageManager, but it appears easy to use.

With a carrying case included, this is one scanner that you can easily take with you. If you want a scanner that doesn''t take up a lot of room and does exactly what it should, check out the DS-600.

I have bought three of these for my business, to scan documents from the road and send them in to clients. I only use black and white at 300dpi, which creates a very small file but a very clear image for documents. This scanner does the job well, and none of my three scanners has broken down yet, after 6 months of light use. There are several drawbacks:

1) Almost every page gets scanned in a little crooked. I''m thinking that there is a knack to getting it to go through perfectly straight but I haven''t figured it out yet, one of my employees does pretty well though. Anyway, it is good enough, but still annoying

2) The whole process is tedious with multiple pages, hand-feeding one at a time, going through the program to tell it to scan each page. I shouldn''t complain because this is a portable scanner, but one day maybe someone can make a portable scanner that can handle multiple pages by itself.

3) Occasionally it has trouble identifying that a piece of paper has been put into the scanner. The easiest solution for me has been to unplug the USB connection, plug it in again and try again.

4) You can only scan individual sheets, you can''t scan out of books, newspapers, etc., like the HP Capshare 920. (The Capshare is unique in that it was made in the 1990''s and is still better than anything on the market today. Unfortunately they stopped making it, you have to find it on Ebay.)

Everything else is great, it gets its power from the USB connection and does its job.

Update 2/24/2011: It has now been a year, and all three scanners are still running strong, no problems. Problem #3 that I mentioned above has ceased to be a problem, I think I was somehow putting the paper in wrong. You have to slide the paper in far enough to trip a tiny switch, and then allow the scanner to automatically pull the paper in about an inch before you start the scan.

I''ve used this scanner to scan documents for work, as well as pictures and drawings. I thought it worked fine for scanning documents into Adobe Pro. I didn''t have any problems running OCR after scanning my paperwork. For images and drawings, I am unimpressed.

Even at 600 dpi the scans were unclear, with lost information. One drawing I scanned just looked like chicken scratch because the scanner couldn''t read the finer lines. It also doesn''t have anything to guide your document through the scanner. I would have been easy to include a small guide bar that swings out from the document feeder area. Without the guide it is difficult to feed documents through straight.

Another issue I had with it is that it doesn''t know when it is not scanning something. For instance, if a document isn''t far enough in to be caught by the feeder, the scanner will still scan even though there is nothing feeding through. If you are in a hurry, this is a huge waste of time.

Overall, I think this is an average mobile scanner. It is fine for documents, if you have nothing else available, but I wouldn''t want to use it on a regular basis.

Want Brother DS-600 DSMobile Scanner Discount?

Brother''s DSMobile Scanner produces great results as a scanner, to take on the go with your laptop. It doesnt plug in, but draws power from the laptop, like when you load up your MP3 player. It''s small, about ten inches long, and 2-3inches wide, and comes with a leatherette drawstring carrying case, that also holds the USB/ scanner cord. Along with the scanner, cord and pouch, comes all the software you need, plus a bunch of more common software, which you MIGHT need, and not have. (for example, you can download a trial version of MICROSOFT WORD, and also a free copy of PFD document expansion software.) The whole Scanner kit can have you up and running, within minutes of pulling it out of the box for the first time. You just have to download the scanner software, before you scan your first document. The scans look beautiful. The only problem I had was the first scan i made of some medical document, because I fed the paper into the scanner a bit off sides, so the image came out slightly lopsided. Scans after that, which included color artwork, black and white drawings, and greyscale drawings, all came thru without a hitch.

There is a small downside, with this scanner, and no doubt it''s obvious. With the large desktop scanners, if you want to scan something out of a book, a magazine, or artwork from a sketchbook, etc, you can lay it flat on your scanner, and it can scan the art or book pages without problem. The DSMobile Scanner however, can only scan SINGLE PIECES of paper. For most of the use a portable scanner like this might encounter, that wont be a problem. These portable scanners were made for scanning almost anything.....exam papers, medical or legal documents that may not leave an office, photos at a friends house who doesnt have digital technology, and pages at a reference library. For the same reason a laptop works well as the portable version of a desktop computer, this scanning stick works as a portible version of the large, heavy desktop printer scanners. The software for scanning was designed for ease of use, by anyone at all conversant with computers. Before you scan, the software asks you the size of the paper, if you want to scan in color, B&W, or greytones, and that''s everything. The other software allows you to keep your documents organized, for example, medical documents in one folder, artwork in another folder, or your credit card bills in another folder. Overall, I find that it scans a little faster than my desktop printer/scanner. Almost anyone with a laptop, will get a lot of use out of this device.

The Brother Dsmobile 600 is an excellent, high quality product that has no negatives associated with it since I''ve been using it. Its benefits are numerous: very fast and easy to install, so light and compact that it fits conveniently in virtually any carrying case, is powered by a USB connection, easily creates PDF & JPEG files, provides an auto-start option as you feed multiple pages, comes with its own carrying case and a 6-ft cable, and, most importantly, provides very high quality color scanning of a variety of types of documents and photos up to 8 1/2" X 14". Very highly recommended.

I have a Canon Multi-Pass printer which printed outstanding color photos from my digital camera until I decided to purchase refurbished ink tanks at a very low price. DON''T DO IT!!! The ink that is used in refurbished tanks are inferior and caused me to ruin my printer head. The new head cost me $80.

I now use the Canon Multi-Pack, which I purchase from Amazon at a really good price and I am back to printing great color photos once again.

I learned my lesson the costly way, don''t you.

The BCI-3eBk is good quality black ink for an inkjet printer. I have used this ink for a couple of years now and don''t recall it smudging on the pages I print. The price on this product (compared to HP products) is fair, but I am able to print a 100 to 200 pages before running out of ink. Of course, you will get more pages out of this cartridge if you print more color graphics than text.

Just received our scanner. Will be using it to scan prescriptions to keep a digital copy on file in our shop.

After the first initial hour of use I can only say the following:

1. Installation was EASY

2. The device is very compact, I love it! Who would even think it performs the way it does being so small.

3. This scanner scans like it''s on steriods (in a good way)! It''s very FAST. Almost too fast, sheets can get a little "cluttered" from time to time. But honestly I do not care, I might need to get the hang of it also.

4. From what I noticed so far scan quality is pretty good to (only done color pdfs). I have it on the lowest setting to preserve some hard disc space and they still come out very good.

In due time I will try and update this review, but from what I''ve seen so far. BIG WINNER! Thanks Kodak.

I paid extra and purchased a new Brother brand toner because I wanted to be sure I had no problems. In spite of that, the Cyan cartridge leaked in the machine. I called Brother support: I was instructed to perform several procedures (most of which I had already done) to confirm the printer was okay. After weeks of back and forth, I was told that the toner and the printer were out of warranty. I was welcome to pay the authorized service shop to inspect and clean my printer, and was advise that I was stuck with the leaking toner. Very frustrating. . . . Fast forward to the end: with the assistance of Amazon''s customer support, we were able to get the toner replaced. The replacement cartridge (and three passes at cleaning my printer) solved the problem.

Lessons learned:

1. purchase your toner cartridges just before you install them don''t let them sit on the shelf long enough to risk going over the 90 day warranty

2. I can''t rely on Brother customer / technical support for urgent resolution or problem ownership. Local support is only through authorized service shops. If you aren''t willing to deal with that, then consider a service contract.

3. Amazon''s customer support is outstanding. Consider engaging them if your seller, vendor, or manufacturer fails you on a product you bought through Amazon. Be sure to document all of your interactions.

I will probably still purchase Brother toner (from Amazon), but will not assume they are perfect. I will be sure to install them within 30 days of receipt. My page volume is low enough that paying a little extra for a new cartridge is not a big deal.

I have a Canon MH series printing calculator and after I got to the end of the ribbon I just ignored the fact that I could barely read the print for about a year. Last summer I wanted to copy the print over to another document, and to do that it has to be fresh new black cartridge.

I lost my opperating instructions for the calculator and to make a long story short called Canon. They did not have the part but sent me to Nukote, who specialize in all sorts of ribbons. I ordered one of the c wind BR80 spools to test if it was the correct thing. I really wish I could have gotten it through Amazon Prime, because the shipping is too much on one little spool. Thats where a lot of these 3rd party companies make a profit.

It has been working well for about two weeks now. I will keep an eye on it to see how often it needs changing. We will all be broke just from ink cartridges and ribbons for all our calculators and printers.

This is great for use with the Brother QL-570 and QL-500 label printers. People can use paypal shipping with this label paper. Paypal shipping requires you to have this kind of paper in order for your labels to print out of any brother label printer, I made the mistake of trying to use the DK-1202 Label Paper which is the same dimensions but not the same length and Paypal shipping wouldnt let me print out shipping labels without the DK-2205 Paper in my label printer.

The DK-1202 is 2-3/7" x 4,

the DK-2205 is 2-3/7" x 100'' (which is the one that your soposed to use for paypal shipping)

Dont confuse the two like I did :p as paypal shipping only lets you reprint the shipping label within 24 hours of creating it.

I am a student who regularly sells books, old movies, old video games, and other stuff via the internet and hate waiting in long lines at the post office to send a package every once in a while. With this label paper and my Brother QL-570 & QL-500 Label printers I just print out the shipping label using paypal shipping and put the package into any mailbox thus avoiding the long lines at the post office.

We use these labels as our other ''can''t-do-without'' item for the label printer

Again the set up with the cartridge on the labels themselves and the printer makes it super easy to load there is only one way it can be done so if you forget how to do it inbetween loading it is pretty obvious and so very forgiving

I love these labels, this one is in a continuous roll which means it is great for adjusting according to the type of address label needed. But as we send very large parcels at times this is actually fine for that nice wide and bright can be whacked on the front quickly and easily to the most awkward shape, and adheres well to any posting medium (paper, plastic etc)

If I was going to be picky theonly thing I would say is that it needs a gap between the backing and the label to make it easy to peel. As it is in a continuous roll you can make the label easily to any length, but sometimes you have to pick at the edges a bit to get the label off the backing a bit of a gap would make this easier.

Overall an excellent product easy to use, looks good and very adaptable.

This is the label paper to buy! Print labels of multiple sizes, the printer cuts them down to size. No need to get small labels and larger labels, this one does both and any size in between.

Makes nice barcodes for eBay shipping, even on small envelopes.

The only label paper I''m going to buy.

Received printer, set up the unit, installed HP toner cartridge and printer drivers. All features worked with the exception of the #3 paper tray paper pick-up assembl,y when loaded with 11" X 17" paper. Every attempt to print 11 x 17 copies resulted in a "Paper Jam" message and the unit would shut down. I e-mailed PFC (seller) regarding the problem and they forwarded the e-mail to their tech support. The tech called with-in the hour and after running a number of tests the diagnosis was a failure of the paper pick-up assembly in the #3 paper tray unit.

PFC sent a replacement tray unit and upon installation, the issue was resolved.

I would recommend this seller; I was impressed with their methods and timely response of resolving warranty issues with their products.

I bought a pink camera that came with a pink printer and I took the printer with me to a family reunion. We had so much fun with it!

You will be very pleased with the picture quality. I highly recommend this cartridge and paper pack. It''s perfect! Just enough paper to match the amount of ink in the cartridge!

I had tried printing photos with my regular printers for years with no success. I started scrapbooking and saw the Selphy in an ad in a magazine. After receiving some money as a gift I foudn the Selphy at Best Buy. What a terrific printer! The colors are always true and it is great to print out just what you want when you want it. I get the postcard size cartridges and send them as party thank-yous, and they fit in regular photo albums. I''m concerned, though, that finding the cartridges may get difficult -Best Buy no longer carries the printer or cartridges. I am glad to see them on Amazon, but I think I might have to source them other places as well and maybe stock up!

Hewlett Packard CLJM275NW Wireless Color Printer Save 35% off

Hewlett Packard CLJM275NW Wireless Color Printer with Scanner and Copier
  • With HP TopShot Scanning, you''ll see images similar to or better than those captured by your hand-held digital still camera and with better depth-of-focus than images from a flatbed scanner
  • Scan images of 3D objects and post directly to the Web and easily remove background via HP Scan Software
  • Enjoy color multifunction performance with convenient, reliable printing and copying
  • Take advantage of one-step operation and easily scan a variety of objects, documents, and images
  • Capture images of 3D objects, then use an app to post directly to popular auction sites

Was looking for a scanning, copying, color laserjet which was not so large it would take over my entire desk. This one fit the bill as did not care to fax as rarely do that for personal reasons.

The pros

easy to set up if have basic computer skills, good quality printing and wireless printing, small footprint as less than 14 inches with arm down..

The cons-

Limited instructions on how to set up as only a one page graphic piece which was not useful.

Scanner is not your normal scanner as it is an arm that supposedly allows for 3d scanning which is little more than a picture. Regular scanning is done same way as the raised arm just take a picture against the white background so product is not as good as even a cheap scanner.

So if looking for a multi purpose good printer and do not care to get expert quality scans/copies this one works. If have space go for one of the machines with a proper scanner or get a scanner and printer separately.

We bought this printer for our organization and we have a fairly old computer. Whenever I send a color pdf document it takes 3-4 minutes for the printer to start printing. It prints only 1 page every 1.5-2 minutes which is ridiculous; it waits for about a minute after printing each page. I print 30 pages in literally 45-50 minutes. Black and white printing is fast, no problem with that. Quality is awesome too, both color and b&w is really good. But I would suggest you to avoid this printer if you plan to print in color in relatively short amount of times, this printer will fail you terribly in that.

The 3D object scanner is bogus. A "genuine" hp ink set costs over $200. Cheaper aftermarket inks don''t work. There are better printers out there. Don''t bother with this one.

This was one of the easiest printers to setup. Adding it to our wireless router and our wireless laptop. Once installed, we could also print from an ipad. For the price and all the options, this is the color Laser, scanner, copier, wireless, network printer I would recommend.

All these people that complained about the printer have failed to tell us what computer they are printing from. THAT is going to be a very important piece of information to validate your complaint. It does NOT mean, because you are printing from a junked up computer that the printer is slow. How about checking your computer and cleaning up your computer??? Could that just possibly be the problem??

Just a thought. This is what I see when customers bring in computers. Almost always junked up and that is why they bring them in for repair. They wonder why things are slow. Oh ... also maybe you have 2 or 3 virus protection software running ALSO?

Please do not complain about a product that depends on another product to operate!!!

Thank you very much.

Kodak Easyshare Printer Dock PLUS

Kodak Easyshare Printer Dock PLUS
  • Get real Kodak borderless photos up to 4" x 6" in one touch
  • Dock your Kodak EasyShare digital camera and get beautiful photos in as little as 60 seconds
  • Printer dock recharges your Kodak camera battery in about 3.5 hours
  • Wireless enabled--print directly from your cell phone
  • Print directly from any PictBridge enabled digital camera--no computer required

You will be amazed at the photos this thing prints. Better than anything that ever came out of an inkjet! It will print with or without a computer. As with most digital cameras, outdoor pictures look great, but indoor flash pictures may need to be touched up in a photo-editing program using a computer. The dock uses the same cartridge used in older versions of the printer dock, but check the list of cameras that are compatible with this dock. It will print from any PictBridge digital camera via a USB connection. It prints using thermal dye transfer. Basically, it''s a roll of plastic film with yellow, red, blue, and a protective coating for each picture. I have tried rewinding the roll and using it to print new pictures, but it produces a ghost image of the original print on the new picture. Kodak pairs each cartridge with 40 sheets of tabbed glossy photo paper. It is magical to watch it work. The dock grabs the photo paper and sends it through the dock 4 times: once each to apply the yellow, red, blue, and then one additional pass to apply the protective water-resistant coating. The pictures look awful while the yellow and red are being applied, then suddenly look real after the blue goes on. How it doesn''t mess up the paper placement between each pass is beyond me, but the result is a stunningly sharp photo. The perforated tabs break off after printing, making the photo borderless. The only downsides I can think of is that photos are limited to 4 X 6" or smaller multiples and it doesn''t work on batteries so you must be plugged into an AC outlet to print or transfer. I ordered this dock from Amazon.com 6 days before I got an email from Kodak saying that it was available.

Now don''t get me wrong. The printer dock itself is FABULOUS price-wise, especially if you buy a refurbished one off eBay like I did (87 bucks!!). Same one year warranty applies direct from Kodak. I was amazed at the quality of the prints. It''s really neat to watch it work, and it''s pretty quick. The prints look just as perfect as if they had come from the lab!

I am a scrapbook fanatic, so this printer comes in handy... but there is one problem... the paper/cartridge refill kits are ridiculously expensive! Buying on Amazon they average about 50 cents per print, but buying from your local store it''s about 65 cents! Considering my local drugstore offers the same exact quality digicam prints for 29 cents each (10 cents on sale days and 10 free prints per month in the Sunday flyers), it''s a pretty big rip off. If you buy the larger 80 pack the cost is about 46 cents per print still far too high, in my opinion.

Other than the ridiculously inflated cost of the refill kits, I love this printer! The prints look fantastic, and the best part is the dock came with a rechargeable battery pack for my camera! The dock acts as a charging base as well, and it has a status bar to tell you how far the charge has progressed.

All in all, it couldn''t be more simple the dock is fantastic! But Kodak needs a reality check on the prices they want for refill kits.

This worked great the first 6 months... other than I can NEVER get 40 prints from the cartridges as stated. Now it is not printing as clear, leaving odd discolor on the prints. I used the cleaner and no difference. I also hate that it often will not grab the paper and will pop up as out of paper when it is not. Looking for a better replacement.

When I bought this overpriced item in December I was intially very pleased by the quality of the photos. However, the cartridges are very expensive and the paper tray is already warped. Tonight when I was trying to print the paper jammed so completely that I cannot get it out. I figure I paid over $300 for probably fewer than 100 prints.

Got this little honey together with a DX6440 earlier this year and have been pleased as punch ever since! The camera takes great pictures at every setting night, landscape, auto and portrait. Got the camera because of the really, really close-up focus range (just inches from the subject!) and I haven''t been disappointed. I''m no great photographer -but this camera and dock make me look like one! I love the instant transfer feature and the photo film/paper. Photos look like they''ve been professionall processed (provided I remove the border carefully and completely to not leave any scraggly edges). I also bought the case and travel adapters. They come in really handy to supercharge my batteries outside of the US. Love it, love it, love it!
