Well folks, I don''t know about you but I am stocking up on my favorite films, and FAST. I couldn''t find the HP5+ PRINT film on Ilford''s website, so I''m not sure if they have stopped making it, or maybe it''s just not featured. Either way, it''s a good time to stock up, and film keeps past it''s expiration date.

The Ilford HP5+ is an EXCELLENT all-around film, with fine grain, sharp images, and most of all it responds very well to push-processing. There really isn''t much more you could ask for in a film. It currently is priced very closely to other Ilford films of less quality (Delta comes to mind) so for this price and free Amazon shipping, you better swoop it up quick!

PROS

Fine grain

Sharp images

Beautiful contrast

Easy to develop

Responds well to push-processing

CONS

Only comes in 400 (although it works well in all lighting!)

Grab a roll, shoot develop and print it, and you will see the amazing difference this film makes! Definitely recommended to any photographer, but I challenge you to bring this on a special shoot that you want to make prints from...you will be amazed! I bought this film because my photography teacher told me that there was no true black and white like real black and white film. Being the great student I was, I picked up a maxxum film camera, whose lenses are compatible with my Sony camera. Turns out my photography teacher was right! This film has a PERFECT grain to detail ratio. Although developing it is quite expensive ( $20.00 per roll) I still enjoyed the pictures I got back from this film. In fact, if film weren''t so expensive I''d put my DSLR down for good!

We have a Land of Nod kids play table that takes a roll of paper for art projects at the end of the table. This fits perfectly. The paper is good quality and does not go to schreds easily if a marker is on a spot for too long, it is longer than most kids rolls and is better money for the amount of paper.

I bought this paper roll in search of a paper roll that was compatible with the Land of Nod Activity Table, whose paper rolls were out of stock and nine dollars with shipping for a third less paper. Most of other rolls, like the one from Melissa and Doug, is way to thin so my daughter won''t color on the table I suppose because the paper is too far from the edges.

I am so happy I found this roll. It is perfect. Just the right width. The fact that it is longer and thereby a bigger roll did not affect the fit in any way. Good quality paper, too.

This is a great, great, great find. Thanks to the previous reviewer who also commented about this fitting the Land of Nod Table.

I use this HP Inkjet paper on my Epson 9900. I needed something that was lightweight but could still hold color without bleeding all over the place; this product filled these need perfectly. I use it primarily to print architectural & engineering line-drawings that require color lines. It''s perfect for this because it is weight-wise similar to the 20# bond I use for B/W line drawings, but every line is crisp and clear. Its also very economical compared to some other wide-format media. I also use it for short-term ''throw-away'' banners, such as "Happy 40th Birthday Bob", but it is not limited to just lettering, sometimes I put a photo on it and for the purposes of having the banner for a specific indoor event, the image looks just fine. Since this paper is not very expensive, it is perfect for one-use occasions, as you don''t have to throw down a ton of money on a custom banner that you will only use for a few hours. This paper also lays very flat post-print (little to no curling).

Canon Laser imageCLASS MF4890dw Wireless Monochrome Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax
  • Print and Copy at the same speed up to 26ppm
  • Duplex Versatility - print, copy, scan, and fax two-sided documents
  • Wireless Connectivity - print form almost anywhere in your home or office
  • Single touch Quiet Mode reduces operational noise

I have had this printer for about a month and really really like it. I bought it to replace a Brother (click on my name to read my review on that one). Although my previous multi-function device worked well, this Canon has the following improvements: Scans in duplex, has an ID-card photocopy function that I love, and MOST OF ALL IT IS QUIET. I do not use the fax feature. I have a PC with windows 7 and I was able to install it easily. It connected to the wireless network very very easily, which was a big plus. My previous printer was also wireless BUT it required a hard-wire connection to the router with an ethernet cable as part of the initial installation process. With this canon, I was able to connect to the network wirelessly, type in the Wi-Fi password directly on the printer, and didn''t have to use any cables. Marvelous! I did compare the printing side-by-side with my brother, and unfortunately I think this Canon is a little bit worse. However, for my purposes it is fine. The Brother was so loud and the fan would run for 10 minutes after every print job. This Canon is super quiet, and even has a quiet feature which I haven''t even had to use yet. I anticipate being very happy with this printer for a long time. Five stars!

A very high quality full featured laser printer (Canon), now at a bargain price. Very impressed with this printer. It is full featured enough for a small business, yet compact enough for home use. It arrived well packaged with good shipping protection, and set up very easy. It runs quietly, and remains in "stand-by" very low power mode when "off". It receives wireless signals well, and prints with good speed. Software included is user friendly, and it scans very well. Documentation included is also high quality. Very high quality laser printing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I got this printer at local store, Setup was easy, took 15 minutes to unwrap the packaging and it was up and running, I use Macs in my setup, printer is hard wired to my apple time capsule router( I am not planning to use its wireless capability as this printer is located next to my router but if I need an open Ethernet port on my router I might use it), there are three drivers for Mac OS X Mountain Lion Fax/scan/print downloaded from Canon web site they were installed on all Macs (5 minutes to install). I can confirm that this unit is mac compatible, I have not used all the functions fully yet, nor can say how the windows version of software works; I can access printer and scan functionalities via my software in Mac.

I like automatic duplex printing feature, no paper jams, it will save lot money on paper also, print quality is very good both copies and in printing from pc, scanning was no problem either, I am not sure how the scan to PC buttons (1,2 on machine) works since there is not software for Mac. Overall very smooth operation. Setting up fax was very easy entering Fax number information and what kind of mode the machine will be used, I will try to do some fax testing in few days. Overall the fit and finish of machine looks good, does not feel cheap plastic. Machine is very quiet goes into sleep mode when not in use. For $230 it is very good machine to do all functions.

Now the toner, it is around $80 which is very close to price Brother toner I was using, much cheaper than Samsung toner cartridge though. I am sure there will be cheaper alternative for this machine too, I was buying toner powder for my brother machine for last few years it was very cheap ($10) and it last long time. I recommend this machine.

update: 10/26/12

Scan function does not work with mac drivers, this is bummer, canon has to blame to put mac logo on their product and it does not work. print function work fine, i have other scanner on hp printer so not an issue for me but for many people it would be an issue. i have to reduce it to 3 star (from 5 stars) until canon fixes drivers for macs. I have also tested the wireless function of the printer, it works fine. scan function stil an issue on wireless network also, i am surprised canon has not addressed the mac driver issue as there are many users of macs now.

At this price point, I couldn''t ask for much more. I had some issues connecting it with CAT5e, but the wireless connection was seamless. I did not try installing with the USB, so i have no comment about that. I spent a few hours messing around with it to learn all the functionality and basic limitations, but the typical user could have this machine up and running in about half hour or less. The instructions that came with the printer were very clear, in my opinion. They double up on the toner installation instructions, which has the end user double checking themselves, but i feel that they wanted to drive the point home about the importance of installing the toner cartridge correctly and removing the packing material. I have no problem with this.

All of the functions on the printer work on all of my remote computers. Overall, I''m happy with this unit.

Pros: Unit is simple to to install wirelessly if you have a router with auto-connect capability, copies and prints good quality for home use. Drivers are easy to install and quick.

Cons: The duplex unit for copying and printing (2 sided) is on the slow side. Printer had issues with connecting a hard-line from the printer to the router. This is likely due to the nature of my setup (dynamic IP). If your set up with a static IP, you''ll likely not have any issues. Since I had the wireless router, I opted to take the path of least resistance. Fax is a little finicky. There are settings that describe an "auto" feature. The Auto feature is supposed to distinguish between a voice call and a data call. Unfortunately when I answered voice calls, the fax machine answers as well (screeching fax beeps). For me this is not a big issue as I know when faxes are coming, so I can simply unplug the fax line until i know when a fax is rolling in. Color scanning is on the grainy side, but is ok for non-professional use. If your looking to scan pictures in high quality, this may not be the right machine for you. Since I have not messed around with the scanner much, there may be higher res settings that I overlooked that will produce better image scan quality.

Again, most of my cons are not real bad. There are easy work-arounds for the issues that I encountered. I mainly wanted something that printed and copied on 2 sides, and to have a reliable printer for basic home use. This MFP appears to fit the bill for me.

My primary use for this machine will be in my home. I print less than 100 sheets per month, half dozen faxes per year, copy/scan 20-30 pg''s per month.

I rated this at 4 stars only because of the minor issues I had, but could have easily given it a 5 star as well. Overall, I''m happy with the Canon ImageClass MF4890dw. For home /small business use, this is a good machine at this price.

Terrific printer. I love that it uses Toner since this is more cost-efficient for me. We are using a brand new HP workforce in one office and this in a bedroom and it is lightening fast and super easy to use. This printer set up within 5 minutes and we had no issues connecting the wireless functions to our computers. It was literally one of the easiest setups for a printer I have ever done.

The print quality is great but I am only comparing it alongside my HP. Side by side comparisons look pretty even. I would give this the win though since it prints in a matter of seconds whereas my HP takes a tiny bit longer to spit the end result out. That''s the best part of having a laser printer! SUPER FAST PRINTING!!!

This printer is also incredibly quiet! It''s barely noticeable when printing compared to the HP. Doesn''t seem to chug or whine as much. It''s an airy, breezy noise and it doesn''t linger. Love that! It seems very energy efficient as well which is great.

Overall, well worth the money!!!

  • Wide format, sizes up to 13 x 19 inches
  • USB and parallel interfaces; PC and Mac compatible

I''m an unabashedly big fan of HP inkjet printers. I have found their color management drivers, not to mention their ease of connectivity, to be completely conducive to excellent output. The quality is obviously superior to HP''s chief injet rival, Epson.

This printer is no exception. Aside from the somewhat obscure color cartridges (my local suppliers don''t stock a lot of them because they''re only used in three other printers), I''ve found nothing to complain about in the two months I''ve been using it.

The printer is truly whisper silent, and it''s massively faster than my old HP 890. I print on odd sizes of paper, so I love the fact that I can now do special jobs without having to go to a service bureau to make tabloid and larger sizes. The onboard memory is sufficiently large to allow me to dump really complicated graphical files without tying up my CPU. As an example, a full-color, legal-sized flyer with multiple graphical layers used to take something on the order of 12 minutes to send to the printer and print. Now it''s a matter of 3-5 minutes. True, some the speed increase is that this printer connects through a USB port, but I suspect that even if I hooked it up with the parallel connection, there''d be a massive improvement in speed. At any rate, I used to sometimes crash my computer if I tried to do smething else while a complicated project was printing. Now, nothing I do outside of starting a 3-D game will shake my system.

I cannot recommend this machine enough. However, you should take a look at the 1220Cxi version, just in case you need the added PostScript flexibility.

I have owned quite a few printers, including Epsons, Ravens, Lexmark, and two Canons, but none of them come even close to the HP DeskJet 1220 C (Cse). Even my last Canon, a BJC-5100, which cost me quite a bit, couldn''t compare to the solid performance that the 1220 delivers, and I suspect the HP will be around longer than the 10 months the 5100 lasted. After ten months the 5100 began ruining paper, leaving large bands of ink all over print jobs and even after a meticulous cleaning, it never returned to proper working status. My first experience with a 1220 Cse was at a restaurant that I worked at used it to redo their menus. Without complaint the 1220 Cse churned out 60 copies of the 8 page menuwith no flaws such as streaking. The only mistakes were ours and we had to print out another 480 pages with corrections-using the same ink cartridges. It can be hooked to your PC (or Mac) via either a serial or USB cable, (neither of which are included). After a quick software install and an alignment is done, the 1220 Cse is ready to go.

The 1220 Cse exceeded all of our expectationsboth in the shear quality of print jobs, even in things like our menus which used a great deal of color in the images and text, but also with its flawless performance. Now that I have one of my own, I am delighted that it continues this trend in the home environment. It is a big printer, and it takes up a fair amount of desk space, but that is small price to pay for a gem of machine like this. It can do 2,400 x 1,200 dpi images with the right paper, and having seen that in action, I am even more convinced that this is perhaps the best small office/home printer ever made. It does everything my wife and I wantbeautiful black and white text and stunning color. Plus, it is exceptionally well madeworth the extra money if you were perhaps thinking of getting a less expensive machine. That quality will go a long way to the machine''s longevity. This, coupled with the fact that ink cartridges seem to last forever make it an excellent value.

I''ve had my printer for about 2 years. This printer does make good color prints, but I wish I had purchased an Epson, because the HP will not handle heavy card stock well at all. Using the rear manual paper feeder can be a nighmare. As in one of the previous reviews, I also ended up throwing away as much paper as I used. In order to get 65 invitations printed, I used 125 pieces of paper. That was a big disappointment. I''ve owned an Epson in the past, which does handle heavier papers with ease and I intend to go back to them.

Want HP DeskJet 1220cse Printer Discount?

The HP 1220C is a very good printer, good speed, excellent graphics with rich, vibrant colors. It''s not as fast as my HP 2000C printer but I think the print quality is better, less banding. I just wish the 1220C had seperated color cartridges, but you can''t have everthing. Overall, it''s a very good performer with lots of nice features, i.e., the pull out area in the back of the printer for clearing paper jams. I have printed posters, digital photos, brochures, programs and have not been disappointed in its performance.

I love this printer. Finally, a printer that can handle large format. I can do an 11 x 17 poster or you can even go larger if you have the paper. I''m also able to print pages to my 11 x 17 leave behind piece that I leave with clients. The visuals are crisp and clear and it''s faster than any printer I''ve ever had in the laserjet category. But I couldn''t afford a color laserjet that handled 11 x 17. So for the price, this one is awesome. I used to have my leave behinds done at Kinkos but now I do them myself. Even with the ink costs, I save a bundle. And with the double ink cartridge, I don''t have to change it all that often.

My only complaint is with the handles, within a week one of them torn loose from the case, I don''t feel comfortable using the shoulder strap, but it works just fine.

Overall the case is a good product, I do feel that HP thinks it''s more valuable than I do after having it for a while. List price of $89.99 is more than I think it''s worth. At that price, I wouldn''t buy it again.

Since HP produced the mobile printer, we''ve needed an answer for transporting the printer along with our laptop. This is their answer and they''re the only ones I know of addressing this issue. If you''re going to get a mobile printer, you''re going to need this bag to transport all your mobile gear together. The center compartment holds the printer and all the adapters for printer and computer and you might as well throw the phone charger in there, and the outer compartment on one side protects your mobile computer while on the other side you will find the pockets for digital media, pens, accessories and files.

I do wish they''d put some wheels and a telescoping handle on this bag though. With an entire office packed in there, if you''re going through an airport, this can begin to weigh on you. It does have the sleeve for sliding over the handle of another wheeled bag so you do have some method of putting all that gear on wheels. Most airlines only allow one carry on bag, so if this is going to be your carry on, there go your wheels.

I''ll take it rather than leave it.

didn''t buy it from here but thought it needs some justification. this is not that bad esp comparing with lexmarks...

after i bought this one, after the lexmarks, i decide to dump the lmk and stick with hp

even the cheapest is fast (black or color, text or picture), no waitings for warmup, print quality''s decent, does its work as it is supposed to. you don''t have to worry about downloading the installations since once you first plugin the usb cable it automatically pops out (true for macs, not sure about windows), a few min later it''s ready to use, no harass, (with lexmarks, i download, install, redownload, reinstall for 6 times and it still does not work, at all), no annoying pop outs, it''s just in your system when you need to use it

for a printer for normal use, that''s way enough.

I got this printer purely because of price. It has performed normally and I am very happy with it. I am posting this review because my experience is so different from some reviewers.

I had one case of printing segments of the document on multiple pages. Attempts to feed single sheets got the same result, indicating it was not the paper or printer. It went away after a restart of the PC.

I have had dozens of printers over the years. This printer is as good as most and I would buy it again.

I''ve got this printer because I''m in college and I have homework and stuff to print all the time. So far it has worked fine and it''s fast as heck when you print black and white-fast draft. People complain about the number of copies printed but I think they come with a sample of ink so you can start right out of the box. The ink you buy has more ml/oz, so don''t give up on a great printer. By the way,I have 2 HP printers and all our 7 computers in the house are HP, I trust the quality.

Unlike some of the other reviewers here, we have enjoyed this printer combo.

The ink carts come in two sizes, so if you want longer lasting ink just get the xl size. I also noticed Amazon sells refurb ink carts for just $10 with Prime free shipping so we''re happy about that as well.

We purcahsed ours for just $25 around Christmas 2011. Six months later and there is nothing to complain about and I am just ordering new black ink today.

After a big storm five or six months ago with power fluctuations and outages, my old Lexmark would no longer power on. I don''t do a lot of printing. I just need something that can do the occasional rebate form or recipe or Mapquest map as well as a quick copy now and then. The local Wally mart had this unit on sale for twenty-five bucks, so I picked one up. Heck, that''s less than what you''d pay for the color and black print cartridges for any printer on the market!

As I said, my print demands are light, so the negative reviews I found here didn''t faze me that much. I was very pleasantly surprised by this little guy''s performance. It''s acceptably fast, has very good print quality for both text and images and has had no problems whatsoever. It''s not blazingly fast, but it''s certainly fast enough. I have my print preferences set to fast draft-mode and the output is fine--very crisp and clear. Colors are rich and saturated, no banding or jaggies.

I''ve had no issues with paper jams, but I think that has more to do with the paper you use than with the printer. Look at any printer on this site and you''ll see a substantial portion of the reviews complaining about paper misfeeds. It doesn''t matter whether the printer is expensive or cheap, the rants about paper jams are ever-present. I use HP 24lb inkjet paper and I suspect that''s why I have no problems in this area.

Installation went smoothly. I have had the 1051 for about four months now. I''ve probably printed about 40 to 50 pages total. HP''s print utility tells me that I''ve used a little more than half of my black-and-white cartridge and a little less than half of the color. I continue to be pleased with both printer and copier in terms of quality and performance. I haven''t used the scanner.

***EDIT 11/2012*** I continue to be pleased with the HP 1051. I''m in the process of selling my home, and the lawyer prefers that I scan my documents and email them to him rather than FAX, so I''ve gotten some experience with the 1051''s scanner. HP gives you a scan utility that allows you to just choose what you want. Photo to JPEG or to TIF, or Document to PDF. That''s all you have to do. It works perfectly! My document PDF files are completely legible with just the right brightness and contrast. You can tweak settings if you want, but I haven''t found the need to do so.

I have exhausted the starter black cartridge that came with the printer. I''d guess about 75 pages. The folks that whine and carry on about expensive inks need to understand that *ALL* printers are like that. That''s the pricing model the the manufacturers use. They take a loss on the printer hardware itself and then make their money on the replacement ink. You can bluster and fulminate about how you''ll never buy another HP again, but you''ll discover that whichever brand you switch to plays the same game with the ink. It''s just a fact of life.

CARL K-13 Straight BladeCL K-13 Straight Blades are one of the Best replacements are the best on the market I would recoomend to anyone

It''s sharp. They last a pretty decent amount of time before needing to be replaced. Two three years. I used it my last two years in design school, so it got a lot of use. I''ve had a small Carl trimmer for a few years now and only just recently had to replace the blade though I often cut cardboard and thick glossy printer paper on it. The cartridge in the replacement kit is identical to the one that comes with the trimmer originally (versus some places that sell cheaper versions as replacements.) No complaints at all but don''t expect it to do very very thick things or sheet metal.

I decided to try these labels even though they were a lot cheaper in price than the brand that came with my zebra printer. I had also tried the variety sold by stamps.com. These labels look better and perform better in my printer than the other two, hands down. The finish is more matte which makes the black look deeper and easier to read. I also wanted to add about the stickiness of the adhesive. We use the boxes provided by the USPS and the labels have adhered well (I know because we recently had a package returned to us from the east coast, we''re in Montana, and the label was still attached after 3 weeks in transit). I don''t use regular brown cardboard boxes so I can''t verify how the labels stick to them. Will definitely be buying from this company again. Thanks!

These labels got to me fast, and without them my shipping operations would have halted. The print quality turned out reasonable, and the labels did work with my Zebra printer.

The only problem we had was that the labels are not sticky enough to stay on the boxes, we thought okay well tape the ends of the labels on, but I don''t have any shipping guru buddies that could have told me that would be very bad (taping over thermal erases whats on the tape if it gets hot outside, don''t ask me how. It''s like terrible magic).

Anyways, luckily I only bought one, and the giant box of labels that I got from somewhere else arrived in time to switch over (my labels now stick!). We didn''t have too many problems when it was cold out, but when it got hot outside the labels would just peel up and roll into themselves, so hopefully everything made it too hot places okay.

Over-all I would say that you should only pick these up if you are in a bind, or you don''t care about how stick they are (like for packing slips or something). I don''t think any of my shipments failed, but I am definitely not testing my luck on that.
