I was looking for a new ream of paper to last me though the year for school and various projects. I was looking for a Bright White paper that would exceed 97 brightness that I could use for presentations. Well during my search, Amazon recommended the Southworth 13C 100% Cotton Business Paper. It immediately caught my attention since I''m studying photography and wood pulp is a big no no in the art world, and the words "100% Cotton", Lignin Free" and "Acid Free" are a huge YES! I went to the Southworth website to read more on their process and quality, and then decided to buy a ream. Once it was delivered, I opened it up and felt the paper and checked the watermark. I then printed a cover page for my portfolio and compared my previous paper to this paper. I was astounded at the level of detail this paper was able to produce. The blacks were "Black", not washed out black, not grey, but Black! Just that alone shows that this paper will be able to produce true rich colors without a washed out look. Update: After several months this printer is still working strong and still haven''t had a problem with it. I noticed a couple of people complain about receiving the wrong printerwell the reason they received the wrong printer is because they ordered the wrong printer. The title plainly states the model is TSP143U, USB. TSP143U is the USB model, hence the U. If you need the ethernet model you''ll need one of the TSP143L series models.

I found it works really well with my Mac and Image Capture, the utility app that comes with all Macs. That way I bypassed the Epson scanner app that came with the scanner. By using Image Capture I can adjust resolution and select whatever area I choose to scan. It works flawlessly! BUT, be sure to go to the Epson website and download the "fix-it" update for Image Capture.
Now to the scanning of old negatives and film slides. WOW! it works great with film slides (I don''t have any negatives to try scanning those). I used the Epson scanning software for this. It scans 4 slides at once. Some other reviewers complained about the the resolution being not so good. Apparently they didn''t figure out that resolution can be ADJUSTED! Epson offers 3 modes with their software: Home, Business, and Pro. When scanning slides I used the Home set. Here are my settings:
Document type: Positive Film (Slides are usually NOT negative picture)
Image Type: Color:
Destination: Other (allows you to set resolution)
Resolution: 400 dpi (Any more takes too long to scan, any less the picture looks fuzzy)
Target size: 4x6
Do NOT use color restoration. The pics can be adjusted much easier in other applications.
I''ve already scanned hundreds of pics. Once you do a few, you will get into a groove.
DOWNSIDE: The scanning of 4 pictures using the above method takes about 6 minutes. Find a good book to read while you wait and if you have hundreds of slides, be prepared to spend your evenings scanning:)
UPSIDE: Totally worth the money. I highly recommend the Epson V330 scanner!

I wanted a dedicated scan-only scanner that was small, could do multiple photos, some scan from albums, some slides,and be covenient to scan while playing on-line poker. The primary purpose is to convert a few thousand family photos from 40+ years of marriage and some family photos and slides going back 100 years.The Epson has done all of that. And very well. The scans are quiet and quick. Several photos may be done at once. Color and B&W may be mixed. It is easy to correct some photo flaws, and to re-orient photos. Once in a while the scanner does not perceive that multiple photos are discrete and captures them as a combined image. This is easily corrected.
I would purchase this again.

I was looking for a scanner to process a lot of 35mm slides I had collected over the years.I also had many negatives and pictures to do, so when I purchased this Epson scanner from Amazon, I got started.I was very happy with the results! The Perfection V330 Photo Scanner was easy to set up and use, and the results were very good-considering the slides were 30+years old.The negatives and pictures are also turning out quite nice.

My purpose was looking for A3 photo scanner with ADF. But it was not success because I could not afford the price of A3 scanner and its specification which some of it does not meet my expectation.So I have to look for another scanner which meet my below expectation:

3. Could be able to scan A3 document.

With the above purpose, i have research each scanner specification and price from HP, Epson, Canon... and finally choose this one, EPSON PERFECTION V330.
I used it around 4 days after the date that I purchase. I feel very please with it. It was very easy to setup with windows xp pro. but it just a little bit take time to install additional software that come with its CD.
The scanning speed is very fast (no warm up time) and both text and photo provide a good result. I am doing printing business and sometime my client asked me to produce the same color output as their original document. As I know each device has a difference color gamut, the color won''t give accurate 100% but this printer could help me to archive the result around 90%. I understand about this.
Scanning from the negative film also clear and beautiful. Plus, the the additional software is very helpful especially arcsoft scan-n-stitch. This could help me to save a lot of $ for A3 scanner while sometime I need to scan A3 document for my customer. It just a little bit take time compare to A3 scanner. The OCR software also a plus but I rarely to use it.
There are only two point that I found difficult using this scanner, it related to the layout of the scanner. First it is a little bit difficult to open the scanner cover. There is a little space for our finger to catch the cover to open for scan a document. Second if I open the cover for 180 degree to scan a book, the cover of the scanner would sit on the USB and power cable. That would be inconvenient for position of the scanner cover. Epson to change this designed port. This is the reason that I gave it only 4 stars.
Finally, this is the best scanner on the market for photo, document and film scanner with the affordable price.

I ordered this scanner based on a recommendation in a recent issue of Popular Photography magazine. I''ve had it for almost a month now and have used it mostly for scanning 35mm slides (up until a few years ago when I bought a digital camera, my primary film for shooting was slide film). I have scanned some older b&w and color photo prints as well, ranging in size from 2x3 inches to 8x10 inches.The scanner powers up quickly and scans accurately. I wish the resolution on the slides was better (sharper), but for printed photos the resolution is excellent.
The scanner includes software for photo retouching & fixing, but I''ve not yet used that as I already have Corel (formerly Jasc''s) Paint Shop Pro ("poor man''s Adobe Photoshop"). The scanner produces the images as jpg files and uses an Epson color space scheme, but my Paint Shop Pro has no problem reading and converting that to a non-proprietary color space scheme.
Overall I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it for someone looking for a reasonably priced, capable scanner.

i agree with others that the canon ink systems are too closely named. you would think that a BCI-3E would fit a system that uses BCI-3E inks. we now find that it fits BCI-32e systems.it is confusing and needlessly confusing.

First of all, the package contained the wrong colors. THe black did not fit the printer. None of the cartridges produced ink. I had to throw them all the way. Lesson? If the price sounds too good to be true, beware.. A $15 lesson.

The S300 is quite small, so it fit easily into my (somewhat cramped) office. It was very easy to hook up to my computer and install the drivers on Windows. The written instructions were clear, and the driver installation program guided me through the head calibration task in no time.
After that, everything just worked. I printed out a few color images and web pages just for fun, and have since used it quite often to print out verious tax-related documents and letters. The print quality is impressive, even on plain paper. The printing speed is fine for most documents. And the little extras like automatic power on/off make the printer a joy to use.
I expected to have to pay twice what I did to get a printer I was happy with. At around $100, this printer is astoundingly good.
A word of warning: the ink cartridges for this printer are quite small, so if you''re looking for a home office printer, you should probably get something more industrial-stength. However, if you only need to print a few pages every now and then, but still want reasonable print quality, then the S300 is ideal for you.

setup was easy. print beautiful, quick. price great. after having lexmark printers, i shopped with regard to replacement ink prices. canon replacement ink prices seemed reasonable. after purchase, i saw the ink tanks were tiny (9ml black, 5mlx3 color). my old lexmark tanks don''t indicate volume, but they look to be 3 times larger than the canon. with the lexmark, i was getting 6 months(about 1000 pages) of printing. with the canon, i used up the black ink after only about 100 pages (half of them cd covers) in 16 days. print quality was set at "standard"and did not "clean heads" or do other ink-wasting activities. i got far less than the 300 pages the manual says you''ll get, esp. when you consider the number of pages that were plain cd covers. i used the tank until it faileddid not replace when the warning came up (worked for about 20 pages). i haven''t done much color printing yet, only a few photos and mixed documents. i''m sure the color won''t last long, either (manual says 170 pages). i recommend the printer, but be sure to have replacement ink tanks on hand.Read Best Reviews of Canon S300 Color Bubble Jet Printer Here
The Canon S300 outperforms most printers costing twice the price. I checked out numerous models from various manufacturers and I bought the lowest priced printer of all, the S300. Text and graphic output is stunning. Plus, this printer is unbelievabley FAST! The S300 even out performs higher end models from Canon! I don''t know how Canon can sell a printer of this quality for under a $(...). Some say the S300 looks ugly and boxy but I LIKE its styling.(12/27/01) A month later and this printer STILL rocks for the price. I found that the printer requires some tweaking. There are numerous color, brightness, contrast and other controls in the printer driver software. Configuring these settings AND using glossy photo paper will yield some jaw-dropping results. Text is speedy and crisp. I would buy this printer again in a heartbeat!

This multifunction is quite small (nice feature if you don''t want to clutter your work space) and it does everything his big sister do (I had the huge mp 780 which I was not so found of). The MP 450 works nicely, smoothly and even faster. Scans and copies are sharp and clear, printing is crisp, it''s a real pleasure to use.
Often one says it''s better to have a cartridge for each colour, I am not so sure: when one is empty, the others follow shortly after. I love having just 2 cartridges to watch and manage (dealing with 4 or 5, you''re always running at the shop unless you store a lot). By the way it is really a two (2) cartridges printer (event though I read otherwise on some websites. Furthermore, every time you change one of these, you get a new head, (that means sharp printing). But, even with that, the ink cost is quite low, a very important feature for me as I print a lot of text. It even "duplex print, so you use both side of paper. Furthermore, included are two high capacity cartridges , but I didn''t compared theses the regular ones, or found any info on theses, but this is a nice little plus.
Photo and colour printing are astounding, you can modify the setting to your own tastes. The software bundle is full of nice surprises, like Arcsoft photo suite, which reassemble a little to Photoshop but is far much easier to use) , and two scanner utilities.
So I am very glad to have wait for the MP 450. And hope you''ll enjoy it as much as I do. Good luck!

I bought this unit to replace my 5 year old Canon F-30. The problem with my old unit was that after replacing the cartridges the colors stop working due to a bad print head. My only choice at this point was to buy a new head for more than I paid for a new MP-400. I look at differnt brands and they all had the same issue. They all use individual ink cartridges running on one common print head. The main advantage of the MP-450 is that you only have to deal with two cartridges that contain their individual heads. the real advantage is that every time you put a newone you put a new head wich translate into good print guality and cost efficiency but not having to buy a new headunit. As far as print quality goes the colors are accurate and pictures have a top notch print quality(for its price range). The speed is more than acceptable for home use. Scaning quality is impresive and color reproduction is very accurate. The number of faetures like direct printing from Digital Camera and the ability to double as a card reader into your computer makes it an amazing deal, not to mension the ability to see and print your picture without using yor computer. PRINTER:I''ve had this printer for about 2 months now. We use it constantly for printing out projects for home school. The print cartridge life was very impressive. We just finished going through the first high yield black cartridge. I was amazed how long it lasted compared to our Epson; that drank ink!
The only draw back is there aren''t any generic print cartridges yet, so we are forced to pay the full price for now, that will change over time.

I have scanned about 80 images and the scanner works wonderfully as a plugin to photoshop. Easy to understand software. The colors looked great to me. Reproduction was true to life. I used the photos to create a movie photo montage and it turned out beautiful.
Overall I am very happy with this printer. Great value!

Bought it for under $100 at Amazon after rebate. Good price for a decent printer. Scans documents well. Good software for OCR and printing utilities. The paper output tray isn''t quite long enough but I can deal with it. It''s very easy to set upfairly quiet, and the print qualtiy for b&w and graphics seems to be good thus far. Like most other printers in this categoryit''s plastic, lightweight and rather cheap overall. But it works well for the price. I''m tired of HP''s crap...they load way too much software into the startup fileso I''m glad I tried Canon. Thier utility is very unobtrusive. If you can get it for $83 like I didit''s almost disposable if you decide you don''t like it after a year.1. This printer is large.
The Canon line does not have the compact box design of HP All-in-Ones (1400 and 1500 Series). The scanner/copier control panel hangs over the output paper tray, and subsequently makes the printer somewhat bulky. One would lift that ledge in order to install ink cartridges. It can get a little tricky since the top portion only lifts about 45 degrees, making it somewhat difficult to pop the cartridges in, especially if the printer is on the floor.
2. It has lots of handy features.
There is a quiet/night printing mode which significantly reduces noise. You can enable it through printer options via the computer.
Duplex printing means manual duplex printing. Once everything prints on one side, you have to pick up all the papers and feed it into the printer again. It''s slightly annoying but better than printing odds and evens in two runs.
3. Print quality is not as sharp as the old Epson.
As I had mentioned, I have not printed photos. However, I did notice that even with text and smaller graphics, the ink tended to bleed a little more. I shouldn''t complain though since I paid less than $100 for this.
4. There are two ink cartridges: one color and one black. The cartridges have their own print heads, which reduces the likelihood of clogs. So far I haven''t figured out whether or not the ink gauge on the computer reflects the actual ink levels in the printer. Sorry! As far as I know the printer only runs cleaning cycles on the printing heads whenever you turn it off or on. According the Canon people, it takes up minimal amounts of ink to do that.
Overall, this is a nice handy printer, which at the time was a good deal ($80). Except for a few minor things such as the manual duplex and the inability to turn on the printer by sending a document to print, it''s been great.
