I agree with Jack Frost in the other review. Funny thing is, these labels with the same template number used to have a perforation on both sides. I contacted Avery and they told me they changed the template so it could fit both a regular jewel case and a slim jewel case. My opinion is that they should have made a separate one for regular and slim, but they didn''t. Like the other reviewer, I either use a scissors or only have the label on one side. Avery 8693 Standard or Slimline Jewel Case Inserts have two inserts per sheet. They advertise a front and back regular jewel case insert per page, or two slimline inserts per page. However, only one slimline insert prints correctly positioned per page, and it prints about 1/16 inch too high, so the bottom of each insert has to be trimmed. The other insert prints incorrectly on the page, and it isn''t detachable. (After reading the other two reviewers, I would have taken more time to try and adjust the positioning, and then used scissors.) Avery doesn''t include using scissors in the instructions. It''s either a cheap shot on the part of the company to get people to use only half of their product and buy more often, or an oversight.Want Avery CD/DVD Jewel Case Inserts for Ink Jet Printers (08693) Discount?
These jewel case inserts will not fit a standard CD case. The perforations for the back tray insert are way too short to fit a standard CD tray. I don''t understand how Avery can be so far off on these measurements.Obviously, no one at their factory has inserted one of these in a real CD jewel case.

I have not used this machine much, but have got a lot of trouble in feeding the papers and the cartrage: it seems very easy to get jammed, and I had to replace the cartrage because it messed up --even if I had hardly used it. A cheap price but I would rather to buy a better one if I knew the quality of it is so poor.

We have since junked our HP Printers and have purchased LexMark which eats very little ink and when it does''t the ink only costs $15 for color and $10 for B&W. On top of that they offer 5 year warranty compared to HP''s 1 year!

Printing is flawless with both, Windows and Mac PCs (you have to download the Mac software from the Canon website, no biggie).
The painful part, and the reason why I gave it 3 stars, is that the firmware is cumbersome for scanning. I should be able to go up to the machine, select the PC to which i want the scan to go (assume for a moment that they are all on the same, secure subnet and that I have allowed access to the PC storage) and have the scan go there. Alternatively, start the whole process from the PC and then just put the papers to be scanned in the scanner, hit a button linking the PC''s scan request to the action, and done.
No, instead you have to go back and forth between the machine you want the scan to end up on, interact with the Canon software on the pc, and the firmware selection on the scanner.
I hope Canon fixes this with an upgrade. It''s a pain in the rear and it makes the value of a networked scanner significantly diminished.

My old Dell multi-function printer gave up the ghost, and I chose this model to replace it. The primary attractions were the low price (at least until you have to buy toner), and the feature set. I don''t use this printer a whole lot, and have even less use for the scanner and fax. I probably print 10 pages a week, send a dozen faxes a year, and scan the very occasional document. In short, just above the level where it makes sense to rely on the local copy shop.=== The Good Stuff ===
* The installation was fairly simple and foolproof. It connected to my network (wired) with a minimum of fuss, and no problems loading any of the drivers onto a couple Windows7 or XP computers. It got an IP address from my router with no problems, but did not seem to report a description (name) back to the router. The acid test: The UPS guy dropped it off at 3:30, and at 4:15 the first test page came out. And half of that time was wrestling with the styrofoam packing and trying to read the small, grey type in the quick install guide.
* Output is crisp and sharp. Most of what I do is text, so no complicated graphics on this printer. The output has a nice contrast level. The printer seems reasonably fastit meets my standard of being ready to pick up my document by the time I walk down the hall to where the printer lives.
* The fax function works as you would expect. There are 4 preset phone number buttons (in addition to the address book) that let you fax with 3 button presses (FAX, the address button and start). The fax memory seems reasonably deepit took at least 10 pages into memory with no problems, and is smart enough to scan new faxes while still sending previous ones.
* I have only tried one scan, and that came out finewith reasonable resolution and acceptable color for office brochure types of things. You won''t confuse the output with a high quality photo scanner.
* I have printed about 50 pages and faxed about the same amount, and so far no paper jams of any sort. I use whatever paper WalMart had for a couple bucks a ream. The faxes involved receipts taped to copy paper, which the document handler was able to handle without issue.
* Putting all these together, I''d consider the purchase a success, although there were some negatives that were disappointing (see below).
=== The Not-So-Good Stuff (in no particular order)===
* The printer is an odd configuration. I placed it on my standard height desk, and that makes it easy to access the feeder mechanism/platen assembly from the top. However the controls are a little awkward, since the front is flat and not angled upward toward the user. I find myself always crouching down to see the buttons or read the display. As soon as I get to it, I will build a stand to elevate the printer.
---UPDATE 1/29/13 Thanks to JAW for pointing out (see comments) that the control panel does tilt up and lock. It just took more force than I was willing to try at first, but made a big improvement.
* I hate the paper input/output handling. While the picture on Amazon makes it look like a cube, if you use the paper input tray, it sticks out a few inches in front, just begging to be banged into. Similarly, there is no real output "tray", just a 2" flat strip with a fold-up stop at the end. It works OK, unless there is the slightest hiccup in how the output exits the printer-in which case your output is all over the floor.
* The controls seems unnecessarily fussy. As an example, to get a report on your fax activity takes at least 10 button pushes. And the report is only numbers dialed/pages sent. I miss the option on my Dell to print the front page of the fax as part of the report.
Other menu items seemed similarly over-complicated. Scanning seems to have a multitude of options, all of which seem to require a trip back to the PC. The old Dell had a "scan to USB" function that let you dump output to a USB jump drive, a feature I miss. Similarly, I am still not sure how to set up the fax machine to never answer the phone unless I press a key, despite a three-page description in the manual.
Most of the menus seem to be 3 or more levels deep, meaning there seems to be a lot of button pushing to make any selections. The "enter" option on the menus also have a strange functionality to it-the cursor always seems to default to a "+" option rather than "enter".
* There is no status display info on a fax being sent to tell you pages or percentage sent. I didn''t have any Tx errors, so not sure if/how it reports those or what retry attempt it makes. There is no indication of how full the scan memory is.
* The printer comes with a starter toner cartridge, so you have everything you need to start printing as soon as you open the box...with the exception of paper and cables. This printer does not have the ability to connect to your network wirelessly, so you will need a cable.
If you want to connect this unit directly to your computer with a USB cable, you will need a Type A male to Type B male connector. Here is an example, there are obviously many more colors and lengths to choose from AmazonBasics Hi-Speed USB 2.0 A-Male to B-Male Cable (6 Feet / 1.8 Meters).
To connect to your network, you will need an ethernet patch cable to connect the printer to an open port on your router. Again one example Belkin 7-Foot RJ45 CAT 5e Snagless Molded Patch Cable (Gray).
=== Summary ===
As with anything that you don''t design and build yourself, there are always some things that you''d like to see done differently. While there are some shortcomings with this printer, for my modest printing needs it seems more than adequate as a printer, copier, scanner and fax. The user interface is terrible, and if you are the type to always fiddle with some setting, this will be problematic. I tend to be the "set and forget" type, so not a major deal for me.
For the price, even counting the new cartridge, this printer seems like a great deal for a non-power user, occasional printer. I doubt it would stand up to an office with any sort of printing volume, and I don''t believe the status and reporting functions make it a good fit for a multi-user environment.

Bought the Canon laser printer-scanner-copier-fax for its multiple functions, all of which are well-used for home business. Compact design and quality printing. Initial problem was that Canon did not have Mac drivers and their rep said "expected before the end of the year" (purchased in September)! However, in fact, Mac drivers were up in 10 days, prior to our returning it. Had to call Canon support to set-up -it was straightforward, but trick is that you must hit "OK" at every step. This machine really can do it all with a virtual techno-fool at the controls. I have gotten great service from the printer which is used to support my business on a daily basis. The toner cartridge gets about 1,000 sheets so you really need to have an economical source for this replacement product. This is the best printer I''ve ever owned. It does it all, and does it well. It barely uses any power in energy saving mode, yet wakes up and begins printing a document before I get to the printer. Scanning can be a bit confusing if you haven''t done it in a while, but usually a sheet fed scanner costs more than this device. Copying is super simple. I don''t have a land line, so I''ve got nothing to say regarding the Fax capability, but who faxes anything anymore? The Ethernet interface is quite handy, allowing me to consolidate onto one device. And given the USB interface, I figure I''m pretty much future proof. The printer was fairly easy to set up, once the software was loaded onto the computers. I''m impressed. (BTW, I initially mentioned the wireless interface; it was mentioned in the documentation that came with the printer, but doesn''t apply to this model.)

I print mostly black and white but wanted the option of color without the smearing ink of an ink jet printer. (I also don''t like ink jets because you have to clean the heads and replace the cartridges too often.) This printer prints black and white faster and color a little slower and that was just right for my needs.
I''ve owned Epson, Brother, and Panasonic printers before. This is my first HP and I really do notice a difference in the quality of the build. I would definitely buy a HP printer again.
Why 4 stars instead of 5? Well this model doesn''t come with the paper tray that mounts to the bottom. I didn''t think it would bother me but it did. So I wound up buying the paper tray seperate. I should have bought one of the other 2550s that included it to start with because it was tough to locate the paper tray option and buy it on its own. It also cost me more all together vs buying a higher end 2550 that came with it already.
One thing that I didn''t read in the other reviews that I would have liked to have known is that the printer cycles periodically. It intially scared my wife and I in the middle of the night because we heard noises in our home that we had never heard before. It was the printer cycling. While it is relatively noisy I don''t think it would have stopped me from buying it, but I would have liked to have known in advance.

If you''re like me, then you were blinded by the idea of a nice color laser printer for less then $500! Sure, these days you could go black and white for less then $150, even as low as $99. Is the color worth it? In my opinion: YES!This printer, of all the color lasers, is the sleekest and most compact. Right off the bat, you will try and try to open up the paper tray at the bottom of the device, only to realize that it doesn''t open. So where does the paper go? Well, that''s the main negative...a part of the front panel opens up and the paper just hangs there much like the back of a bubble jet printer. But in this case, it completely ruins the nice look of the machine, and opens up for dust to accumulate. But for an additional $150-$300, you can buy a 250-850 page tray and this problem will be solved. This is an annoying thing, but I guess it is the price you pay for the price you pay. If you want it cheap, there has to be comprimises.
Output is AMAZING! Text is kickass, graphics are unbelievable, and photos are better then expected from a color laser. THIS IS NOT A PHOTO PRINTER, so dont buy it expecting great photo prints. If you want Kodak prints, buy a photo printer. If you want lots of quick color printouts at low cost, buy the 2550L.
Otherwise, I have no complaints. This thing is fast, cheap, and output is superior. And for god sake it is only $499!!! For that price, it''s almost like, you dont have the right to complain!
Color output is off, like pinks instead of purples and yellows instead of orange. Tinker with the controls and you can match the color on your screen.
Simply: Get this, it''s sweet.

This is a NOISY printer. It clicks, bangs and cycles all the drums on EVERY print!!!There is NO PAPER TRAY. This is an expensive extra add-on.
The print quality is no bad but no great either.
All in all, I would NOT recommend this printer. There are other printers in this price range (Like the OkiData) that are FAR superior. I bought HP thinking it would be great like the ones in the office. I now have both an HP 2550Ln and the Okidata C5150n. The Oki is a far superior product across the board.
Think twice before buying this product for your home or small office. The noise alone will drive you insane.
The printer cartridges cost £240. I print 95% Black and white images, but the special chips on each of the cartridges count down from 2000 to 0 for each print wether you print one word letters or full size photos. I have printed about 1500 pictures and its telling me to replace the black cartridge, even though the prints are still perfect. I have not used any colour yet but each print counts this as usage for all the colour carts as well. The colour ones are still 100% full but its telling me they are only 25% full. You HAVE to replace them when they are full wether you like it or not because the printer wont work. I have been told you can buy the chips on their own to fool the printer but these cost £9 each. do not buy a chipped cartridge printer!

This printer works like a champ printing via AirPort Express from my Macs. (I didn''t have the same luck with the HP LaserJet 1022 I recently purchased and returned.) This printer is very fast compared to my older LaserJet 1200, and the duplex feature works nicely and is a great paper saver. Installing the drivers on my Mac was a breeze, unlike my experience with the 1022.---

After having worked flawlessly for 19 months, this printer stopped working properly. Sometimes it displays the paper jam and toner warning lights and won''t print, even when there''s no jam and plenty of toner; sometimes it prints one job successfully after restarting it, only to stop working after that; sometimes it prints only one page of a multi-page job; sometimes *no* LEDs are lit even when the power is on; sometimes it shows up as "offline" on my Mac (OS X 10.5.6) even when connected directly to my USB port and its power is on.
Called HP Tech Support and spoke with a technician who troubleshot with me and told me this was a problem with the formatter board, and that is was a known issue. He said it affected 10-20% (!) of all P2015''s, but that, since my printer is out of warranty, HP would charge me $260 (incl. shipping) to repair it. (For what it''s worth, he said the P2035 and P2055 are "excellent printers" and that only "1-2%" are sent back for servicing.)
Be wary of this printer. I didn''t expect to have to buy a replacement printer so soon.

This is an excellent 2-sided personal laser printer. The cube-shape is tall, but takes up no more desk space than HP''s earlier personal printers. No paper trays stick out. I particularly like the 6 idiot lights that clearly show what''s gone wrong (paper jam, out of ink, etc). I could not resist the price of the 2015d despite the negative reviews considering the Vista compatibility. I received the printer from Amazon yesterday and 30 minutes after calling HP support, it was working great. The CD does not work on Vista, so if you have that don''t even try to use it. Two drivers have to be downloaded from the HP site. The HP tech was very easy to understand and very helpful. In order to use the duplex feature, 2 sided printing must be set in printer preferences. It would be nice if that were automatic but for a final cost of $198, I can live with that. The manual also needs to be downloaded from the HP site. I replaced my HP 1200 with the printer and appreciate the added features. I would highly recommend ordering the additional paper tray as the one that comes with the computer only holds 50 sheets.I have this printer attached to an HP JetDirect USB 2.0 print server, which is working well. It''s spooled from a Windows 2003 R2 x64 server, serving XP (x86 and x64) clients, as well as Vista (x86 and x64) clients.
The unit is fast, the UI (buttons, indicator lights, etc.) is excellent. I haven''t had any hardware problems (paper jams, flimsy construction, etc.)
Only complaint: The x86 XP and Vista driver component appears to randomly switch to 2 pages side-by-side mode, printing out 2 pages at 50% size on letter paper. This appears to happen somewhere at the print server/queue but no changes have been made.
The paper input tray for envelopes is different from the HP LaserJet 1320 (the P2015''s predecessor) and does not ''open'' all the way down to a flat surface. Nonetheless, it is an improvement from the loader ''slot'' that the 1320 had.
All in all... I''d do it again. Keep your eyes peeled for an updated driver, though, in network environments.
