When our HP Officejet 8500 ran out of this ink, we were NOT even able to print Black & White pages!! I called HP and I became convinced that they have designed these printers to milk buyers with consumable including Ink and Paper! Why would a product designer add a feature to BLOCK a printer to print Black & White when the "Color" ink is out!!?

We have since junked our HP Printers and have purchased LexMark which eats very little ink and when it does''t the ink only costs $15 for color and $10 for B&W. On top of that they offer 5 year warranty compared to HP''s 1 year!

I''m using an HP OfficeJet 8000 as a second printer, and NEVER, not even ONCE printed a color page. So I was surprised and dumfounded when the yellow cartridge light started blinking, and the printer refused to print at all. What''s that about? Anyway, I invested a few bucks in the yellow ink cartridge, the printer now prints fine (in black, I STILL haven''t printed anything in color), and I am again a happy chappy marveling at the clever dollar extraction technology HP engineers into its printers!!
