5 stars for the paper. I''ve tried many sample packs, and Velvet Fine Art Paper produces the best B&W shadow detail on my Epson 3800.

However, Amazon''s packaging for shipping is a roll of the dice, so 1 star for Amazon. Of the two times I''ve ordered the 17x22 from them, once it was packed in a box (good) but the second time they just slapped a label on Epson''s lightweight packaging and sent it out to face the indifferent handling of Fedex (bad). That arrived with a dinged corner. I was lucky and the damage wasn''t too bad and won''t be seen under a mat, but anyone who is buying paper that costs $4 a sheet is probably pursuing perfection, and bent corners seriously detract from perfection.

To Amazon''s credit, they did credit my account $25 when I complained, and did say that they would notify their shipping department as I suggested. However, next time I''ll probably order from Calumet, B&H or Adorama--there is a better chance that their shipping departments know something about how to pack fragile photographic materials.

A beautiful rag cotton matte paper. The colors just look so natural. Others have reviewed this paper in smaller sizes and gave it 5*.

I''m a fanatic for big prints (minimum 17 x 22 paper) and print on an Epson 7900 (24" wide by unlimited length)and ultra-accurate color. After years of printing on every paper you can imagine, I''ve settled on two as my favorites: Epson Cold Press Bright, and Epson Velvet. Love them both for accuracy, instant drying, a little toothiness (roughness of surface texture) which adds to the three-dimensionality that I try to produce in camera.

I don''t personally like glossy or satin surfaces--that''s just my preference. Accordingly, Velvet is one of my primary go-to papers. Cannot recommend it highly enough--it is terrific.

This is beautiful paper, but it turns out it is incompatible with the 3800. The printing results aren''t good.Wish it did better because its weight & surface texture are spectacular.
