I am pleased to report that it has lived up to my expectations. Print quality is excellent, at least to my untrained eye. Color photos print overly saturated, but that was also the case with the 2500, and I have HP inkjet printers for photos anyway. But, it is oh so quiet, and the double-sided printing worked from the start (select in the print dialog box). And, apparently faster than the 2500, though I did not time it. Certainly, the first page prints much faster from a cold start. So, all-in-all I am a happy camper with this printer. BTW, ~2000-2500 sheet print capacity cartridges are included, so no need to order toner cartridges as with some competitive brands. One more thing: the Ethernet ports on my Linksys router were already filled, one with the existing 2500, so I connected the 2605dn directly to my iMac through its USB port and turned on Printer Sharing in the Mac. Printed flawlessly on the first attempt, and also handled print jobs sent from other computers on my home network via the Mac. Nicely engineered, HP!
The only con is that the lengthy instruction/user manual is sent on the enclosed CD-ROM, but, then again, I rarely consult the manual after I have a printer or computer up and running. So, trees have been saved (though photons have been rudely disturbed!).
I would recommend this product without reservation.
