The lower price of this cutter is because of the one stabilizing bar as opposed to two. A bent bar would result in imprecise cutting. While it is natural/tempting to pick up the cutter by the bar it is not necessary -and how and where you store it should resolve any problem. If others are going to use it, however, consider the more stable set-up, even though it is pricier.

The cutter I purchased via Amazon is very precise and smooth. while they don''t say so, the blade is self-sharpening and makes razor smooth cuts. However, it is difficult to see exactly where the cut is going to be. Drawback. I purchased a long under-cabinet battery powered light to place under the paper/picture/cardstock to be cut so that I can see exactly where the razor edge is going to land. Works very well.

This cutter says it handles 10 sheets of paper at once. That is a severe overstatement. One piece fits tightly. That works well for my needs. However, if you want to do multiples, I recommend you purchase an upgraded model (i.e., more expensive) over this one.

The help/guide ruler at the top is not exact to the nth degree, so don''t trust that, if you butt your paper up against it and then cut that you will have a straight document. Pull it down and eyeball it on the grid lines. The black paper holder screws down to hold any paper where you want it. It doesn''t help much when you cut at the lower end of the cutter which is nearest to the operator.

All that said, it makes beautiful cuts and is fun to use. I think, if I had to do it over again, I would buy an upgrade. An extra 50$ would have been worth it.

I am extremely satisfied with my rototrim. I couldn''t understand why I didn''t get one of these to begin with. I should have gone with the best originally.
