When my HP printer finally croaked after three years of use, I did a great deal of research on printers as the ink costs can be prohibitive. We use our home printer a *lot* as we homeschool and find ourselves doing a lot of crafty printables for kids'' birthday parties and scouting volunteer projects.I read a great number of reviews on Brother''s quality and very competitive ink prices, and have been very satisfied. There are definitely savings to be recognized by this brand over HP!

I have been using this type of ink cartridge for a long time. I have never had a problem with ink not lasting. Results are exactly what I expected.Ink does not last long at all. Brother or Amazon should offer a better package to purcahse the ink .... All black Ink for a decent price since the black ink might last for a day or two.... Can do the same for the colors I have spent a great deal of $$$$ on these prodcutsBrother LC65HYBK High Yield Ink Cartridge (Black)

The Canon LBP6300dn came very quickly from the vendor. Everything went picture perfect until I had an error message in installing the driver on my HP running XP. I am not sure exactly what was wrong, but I had no forewarning that my XP might be incompatible. I did coax it to print a few pages, but I had many fights. I uninstalled and re-installed it a couple of times. My ONLY COMPLAINT is that there was no live Canon tech to talk to to assist me, or at least commiserate with me. Anyhow, then my old HP running XP died! I purchased a complete new computer running Windows 7, and installed the printer. Now life is wonderful. I like the printer!Read Best Reviews of Canon 3550B014 imageCLASS LBP6300dn Monochrome Laser Printer Here
Over all not a bad printer and does what I want. I wanted a mono printer because I got tired of buying color ink and never using color. Found out that printer manufacturers lay down layers of color under the black supposedly to make the black look better. With the highly inflated price of ink I don''t need that. Prior to this printer I had a Canon Pixma that did a terrific job other than eating large quantities of ink. After 8 years with absolutely no problem the motor decided to self ignite. No fire just lots of smoke.Back to the new Canon printer. Talked to a lot of people looking for a mono printer that could print sheets of labels, Actually 2 labels to the page for USPS shipping with eBay. After having several vendors of printers including Canon tell me their printers would not work or they would not guarantee it to work with labels I took a shot at this Canon.
Like most things today, the instructions left a whole lot lacking. It only took about an hour with one of Canon''s great reps to get the thing working. After going through a long period of the machine telling me there was a paper jam and thanks to the Canon Rep. I found there was a hidden (not that easy to see) that had to be set to long paper. Since then all has been working well and I have printed off about 34 postage labels from the center front feed and several pages from the botom feed drawer. I have no problem with warm up or print speed with this Canon or problems with it running sheets of Post Office shipping labels.
If I had a complaint, it would be what I consider some useless doccumentation and the fact that the machine, like most things today, is built from cheap thin plastic. Does not inspire much faith that the machine will hold together very long. At any rate the price was okay and I expect the cartridge to last a long time.

I read many reviews and wanted a simple, reliable, networked (this is wired only!) and duplex capable laser printer. After a thorough time of researching I decided that this model Canon fit our needs and our space requirements. I did not require color or multi-printing type features. I have a separate photo printer with scanning capability; also a Canon. I have had little issues with my past Canon printers (used for 10+ years now) and feel I always get my $ worth our of them. I do find it questionable that this printer new with a new regular toner cartidge is is almost the same price as a genuine Canon replacement toner cartidge (high yeild) but maybe that is typical. I will try my luck on a refurbished OEM style toner Cart. when the time comes. We have the printer set to default to duplex saving us $ on paper and it is FAST. No complaints.....Thank you Canon! This is the 1st B&W Laser printer I have owned. I print alot of material for class journals & homework assignments year round. This Canon Laser printer is super fast. One of the features that I like is the duplex printing. The first day I received my printer, I printed a ream of paper, double sided. It saves time and money! I am connected via USB, so I have yet to connect to my wireless network, but my son assures me that if needed, it will work fine.

After having nothing but trouble with my old Dell printer, I received the Dell 515w. Out of the box, it was nothing but trouble and it took numerous calls to Dell to fix the first time. They gave me a case number for future calls (guess they knew it wouldn''t continue to work) and when it stopped working again I called Dell gave them my case number and got a call back 9 hours later. Finally got it working until I had to replace the ink cartridges. Then the printhead error wouldn''t go away and printhead wouldn''t work. At my insistence (stupid me) they said they would send a new one. After receiving no follow up for 4 days I called Dell only to find out that the model was on "back log". After much insistence about not being satisfied in anyway, they sent me a "step up" the DELL P513w. Guess what, out of the box, it doesn''t work. I''m no newbie to printers or computers and am hardly incompetent, but God bless the poor people who are and buy Dell Printers because they won''t realize that it is Dell and not them that aren''t right. Now I''m griding myself to make yet another call to Dell. How long am I going to be on the phone this time? I will never buy another Dell printer again. Really think it over, cause for every one good review you see on the product, you''ll find more bad ones. They''re lemons across the board. You might get lucky, but then again, you might not.Read Best Reviews of Dell All-in-One Wireless Photo Printer (P513w) Here
This has been the worse printer I have ever used. It jams every time you use two sided printing has major ink head problems and now after maybe 400 pages the print head has died. I called Dell, but they do NOT sell parts for this item.Want Dell All-in-One Wireless Photo Printer (P513w) Discount?
DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER OR ANY DELL PRINTER. AFTER A 18 MONTHS OF FRUSTRATION, PRINT HEAD ERRORS AND PRINTER BUSY NOTICES, THE PRINTER HEAD QUIT. $50 FOR A NEW HEAD. NO HELP FROM DELL. DO NOT BUY IT! REPLACED WITH A CANON PIXMA AND IT IS SO MUCH MORE USER FRIENDLY,AND IT WORKS TOO!My first comment is that this is not really a Dell printer and you can see this on installation where it is clear that it is a Lexmark printer. We purchased this printer for a small office for our color prints -the other printers in the office are monochrome lasersto replace an old HP 9760. The setup is easy, even the WiFi. As I installed the ink for the first time I noticed that cartridges are separate from the print head (i.e. the print-head stays in the printer and you buy only separately only ink "containers").
Very soon the printer started consuming huge amounts of ink, both black and color. It just gobbles down ink and for some cartridges we can''t even get 100 pages printed. Additionally, the first ink cartridges (without a print head!) were extremely expensive. Price has gone down a little in the latter cartridges.
The second problem we have has to do with print quality: very soon after buying the printer the black ink (text) started printing in bands and after numerous cleanings of the print head (which in turn consume lots of ink), the problem is not solved. The printing is readable, but it is certainly not professional looking and there are few things that make a firm look worse than poorly printed letters and reports. We called Dell and they said it has to do with the print head. They said we should do deep cleaning (i.e. more ink consumption) and if this doesn''t solve it, it should be changed. This is right after the 1-year guarantee expired.
One more thing that does not have to do with the printing: the scanner software comes with a neat feature that adds a small app to the folders in Windows and allows you to scan documents directly into that folder. It works very well, but at some point I started noticing that my windows computer''s memory usage was getting out of hand and the computer would eventually freeze (the file using the memory was "explorer.exe"). I searched in the web for a solution to this sudden burst of memory usage by "explorer.exe" to no avail. By some inspiration I decided to uninstall this software and voila! The memory usage went back to normal. I installed the software again and as soon as I used the feature for the first time, "explorer.exe" started increasing in memory usage by the second. I uninstalled the software for good and haven''t had any more memory problems in my computer
In sum, the printer has high ink consumption, very expensive replacement cartridges, poor quality printing do to a worse print-head and the bundled software needs more polishing (to say the least). Overall a very poor machine which I would not recommend purchasing.
We are back to using the HP when we really need excellent quality prints. The 513W we use only for in-house printing, and the scanner, which is good. We are going to let the current cartridges run out of ink and get rid of the printer.

I do not own this machine, but I did demo it along with another, more expensive, HP multi-function device, and the Xerox WorkCentre XK35C won hands down. The only problems I found with the 35C were (1) Relative to the more expensive machines, the printing was somewhat slower, however the quality was far superior and (2) I contacted Xerox about the availability of Windows 2000 drivers and they told me that they would not not be releasing Win2k drivers for the 35c because of its age. So, if you have no plans to upgrade past Win 98 or Win NT 4.0, then this would be an excellent product for you. This would be an ideal product for a small business owner or college student. Overall the print quality is superior to that of other inkjet printers and other multi-purpose devices and the cost is less than many inkjet printers. If you have plans to upgrade to Windows 2000, I suggest waiting to buy the newer version of this device that Xerox said they should be releasing by the end of the summer.Read Best Reviews of Xerox WorkCentre XK35C Inkjet Multifunction Here
I bought the XK35c based primarily on the Xerox name and I have not been disappointed. After I got everything set up and the software loaded I started having trouble with the printer. I called Xerox Customer Support Center. After some poking and prodding it was determined by the rep that I still had my old Canon Printer installed. We were able to take care of that and it has been perfect ever since. The printer is producing material that looks like it came from a Laser Printer. I would recommend the XK35c to anyone who needs an inexpensive Printer/copier for a small business or home use. I don`t think you will be able to fine anything that will beat it. Also Xerox customer support center is great they go the extra mile to help. This unit requires a bit more set up effort, including the software, than most other printers I have purchased. But once you are done, it works well and is very quiet. Although it is much slower printing and scanning than my HP 4p scanjet and epson 600 inkjet which it is replacing. But, it does have much improved resolution and it is a great space saver on your desk. The stand alone copy function is helpful. You can copy, even in color, without booting up the whole computer system. On the downside, however, the machine is prone to make my windows 98 operating system freeze up, when I try multiple tasks or "fax from printer" with it or give it too many printing tasks, too rapidly. The pagis pro software is very helpful and has some unexpected functions such as " filling in forms" capability and great "OCR". The print cartridges are a bit spendy...but they look like they should print more documents per cartridge than most other inkjets. All in all this machine should be well worth the money at...and don''t plan to go to windows 2000 operating system which this machine will not handle.I have had my new printer for 2 weeks now, and it is every thing that I expected. I have scanned odd shaped documents, as well as copied a bunch of stuff. Slower to copy color than I anticipated, but the quality was excellent. the printer gave very good results, but see no need for all the insturction books, (2) that come with the printer. Everything said could surly be condensed to one simple to read and use set of insturctions. there should be a better system to tell what you are going to print before you print it.There are suggestioons, including on Amazon.com that the P-330 and a Sony Digital Camera that uses 3.5" floppy disks are compatible. To a limited extemt this may be true, but direct use is not possible as the P-330 only takes the smaller Smart Media disk. It would appear one would be well advised to use a Sony printer that can directly receive the 3.5" floppy disk; otherwise one of the feature attractions of a printer is defeated. The one star rating is only in connection with a Sony digital camera.
