Boise BCP-2811 HD:P Color Copy/Laser Paper, White, 98 Brightness, 28lb, Letter, 500 Sheets/Ream
  • 28-lb. white color copier office paper with a 98 GE brightness rating.
  • Specially engineered for use in color copier and laser printing equipment.
  • Extraordinary bright white surface and smooth finish lets you achieve stunning color reproduction.
  • Print professional-level brochures, direct mail flyers and designer proofs in-house.
  • Acid-free for archival quality.

I ordered this paper because it was recommended by the dealer for my Konica Minolta Bizhub 253. They had recommended against using any of the InkJet type papers with this color laser printer. They gave me a sample ream, which worked well high quality color images on nice crisp paper. I was running out of the ream they gave me, so I ordered this. The price was reasonable, and shipping was free.

It arrived quickly, with the two reams in a box. The printed wrapping on each ream is plastic, and there was not enough to keep the reams from bouncing around in the slightly oversized box, so the plastic was a little torn on each ream (although it was largely intact), the only reason I did not rate this five stars. However, the wrapping was largely intact, and the paper completely usable.

I ordered the three primary 564XL color cartridges. Two came directly from Amazon: 5-stars! Exactly as advertised. However, the third came from "MegaToners". BEWARE! The order was for an Original cartridge and it was swapped out for a remanufactured cartridge. In addition, the remanufactured cartridge did not have the microchip attached to the cartridge. The printer did not recognize the new cartridge. Nowhere in the packaging was there instructions on what to do with the cartridge without a chip. Through some internet research, I learned that I could transfer the OEM chip to the remanufactured cartridge and it might work. I did that, and the new cartridge still did not work. Rip-off!!! I will be requesting a full refund on the third cartridge.

This is one of four inks used in making color copies and color photographs. In combination with the other three it does a very good job.

As I''ve mentioned in other reviews on HP ink, the ink has been reliable and odor free. It''s easy to get spoiled and wonder if costs can''t be cut by buying refills or cheaper brands; I''ve tried that and have now gone back to HP ink and have no regrets.

Printer and ink form a partnership which can produce excellent long term results if given the opportunity. I believe that HP has developed equipment and products which enjoy a successful partnership and I don''t begrudge HP making a profit on their work; I want them to stay in business!

For the record, I''m not an HP employee, nor affiliated with HP in any way beyond being a satisfied customer!

The biggest complaint for personal inkjets is well.. ink. It''s always expensive and you feel like you are spending the lionshare of your purchase on the fancy packaging and plastic delivery mechanism. We use our printer for casual use and a decent amount of photo 4x6 printing. These XL inks definitely last longer than the std versions that shipped with the printer, and yellow always seems to go first. But they work as advertised, and never last as long as you want them to. We''ve had our printer for 2 years and replaced inks once a year now.

The colors seem to pop when using the special 4x6 papers and drying time is very fast. I haven''t seen any fading in pictures that were printed 2 yrs ago with these inks, and they are advertised to not fade, so i guess its working as advertised.

The last couple of times I ordered this cartridge at Amazon Prime I received the cartridge from an affiliate minus the box. There was a note saying that this is a genuine HP cartridge but for some reason they had to ship without the box. This makes me a little nervous -is it really an HP product? It seems to work OK (hence the 5-star rating), but the lack of the box makes me nervous. This time I ordered it directly from the HP website -a bit more expensive but I know I will get the real thing. Sorry, Amazon, you are my favorite retailer by far, but I want to know I''m getting what I paid for.

My review is just to say that this printer ink is probably what you''re expecting to receive, but it''s not in the cardboard box. It is certified by HP as being brand new, and it''s wrapped up to ensure it''s not dried out. That''s why it''s cheaper than other ink colors, and it''s actually a good deal. The XL is a better deal than the normal size, and works out to be cheaper over the long run. I did all the math and research on this, so you can trust me on that. This price is good unless you have a coupon somewhere -I checked Staples and all the other name brand stores. So, don''t over-research if you need HP 564 printer ink. This is a good deal.

Brother Printer HL5470DW Wireless Monochrome Printer
  • Prints up to 40ppm
  • Built-in wireless 802.11b/g/n and Ethernet network interfaces
  • Automatic duplex (two-sided) printing
  • 300-sheet standard paper capacity, expandable
  • Backlit LCD display allows for easy navigation and menu selection

I purchased this printer about 2 weeks ago and am very satisfied with it. It replaced a Lexmark E260DN. The Brother is noticeably quieter, slightly faster, can print from IOS devices (eg. iPad) and has much lower toner costs. A few years ago I also had a Brother HL-5250DN laser printer. It was a great printer, BUT after I upgraded to Windows 7 it would change its IP address when the computer was re-booted. To say the least that was annoying and I could not find a fix. Of course that is only a problem if you are using it as a network printer.

The new HL-5470DW has no problems what-so-ever. It is setup as a network printer in my home via Ethernet cable. I set the resolution to 600 DPI and configured for toner saver mode. Even with these settings the print quality is very good. Envelopes print perfectly with no wrinkles.

Toner costs are reasonable. Here on Amazon a Brother TN720 3,000 page toner cartridge is about $60 (2 cents/page) and a Brother 8,000 page TN750 toner cartridge costs about $100 (1.25 cents/page). To put this in perspective, the toner costs for most laser printers range from 3-5 cents per page and ink costs for inkjet printers can easily exceed 10 cents per page for text.

I would definitely buy this printer again and recommend it highly.

Bought this a month ago, so take all this as an early report. That said, got it on sale for a good price and no cause for regret yet. Bought this to replace a Canon multi-function inkjet that had a bad print head. Tired of the expense of the ink and the bulk of the device. I''ve got a small scanner on my desk now to cover scanning and most copying. Who needs a fax these days. Got the Brother home, unpacked, plugged in and less than 30 minutes later was printing from every computer in the house including my PC, a windows laptop, my wife''s Mac and my iPad. I''m reasonably tech-savvy, but no expert. I just followed the instructions and it was done. Print quality is beautiful. Starts printing around 6-8 seconds after hitting the print command. Auto-duplex works well. I don''t notice any excessive curling, though I''m not using this for business presentations. Prints envelopes, at least one at a time, just fine. Some curl, but quickly relaxes and no other issues as had been described for previous versions. The auxiliary feed is on the front, which makes my life easier at least as the printer is tucked away under my desk. Not much else to say at this point--simply that set up was easy, print quality is very good, speed is quite fast, and I anticipate using this for a long time. I wish my office printer worked as well and as fast.

Just got this printer delivered and set up today. Works very well. No problem setting up (with Ethernet connection). Printed lettering is of very high quality, fine detailing. Haven''t tried any graphics yet. Fast printer, not too noisy, silent when "asleep". Prints envelopes fine, just have to use MP Tray and open printer''s back cover for a straight through printing path. Cannot feed more than three envelopes at a time though. Various options for different paper types and fuser heats if needed. So far I''m very satisfied. Will post again if my opinion changes with use.

New comment (September 9, 2012): Having now used this printer for a few weeks, I''m persuaded it is a very good printer and would buy it again. Note that this printer seems to draw a lot of power for an instant when just starting to print. My lights dim a bit for a moment not a big problem for me but could be for someone with less robust electrical circuitry.

Want Brother Printer HL5470DW Wireless Monochrome Printer Discount?

As other reviewers have said, this printer has a power problem when it starts up initially (and apparently every time it wakes to start printing but I can''t comment on that because I never got it booted completely) by drawing enough amps to trip a 20amp circuit breaker. I tried three (3) different outlets, on different circuits, all with the same results. When I powered it on, it would start to power up and then within 3 seconds trip the breaker. No other appliance has ever tripped one of our breakers in our 8 year old house.

I even tried plugging it into a UPS thinking that would buffer the load but it didn''t, same thing. So, unfortunately this printer is going back to Amazon and I''ll continue searching for a network laser printer (wired or wireless) that supports AirPrint.

Sharp EL-1801V Adding Machine

I was looking for a fluorescent display because they are easier for me to read. This "calculator" operates just like what we used to call an "adding machine". You put in the number, then press the function (i.e., add or subtract, etc. the number), and repeat again for the next number...then hit the total button and you get the total. This unit works exactly like adding machines have worked for many decades (but this one is faster, lighter and smaller than the old machines). Some folks (my wife included) were disappointed because this adding machine does not function as a "calculator". With "calculators", you enter a number, then enter "add or minus" button, then the second number and there is your total. You do not have to tell the machine how to handle each number you enter, beginning with the first number. Even so, this is an excellent printing adding machine. This one is suited for folks who do taxes, business folks who need cost, sell, average, margin buttons because it has dedicated buttons for those functions. It is also great because you can read the lighted display n any lighting situation. On top of that, you get a bonus feature because this machine can tell you how much change the customer is due. You put in the price of the item, subtract the currency the customer gives you, press the blue "change" button at the top left of keyboard and "Viola", the amount of change that the customer should get is displayed.

This machine takes standard size printing paper and prints fast in 2 colors (red and black). You also have the choice of selecting whether or not you want the machine to give you a count of the number of items you have added, plus another button that will add the date (and time) the paper tape was run. It has an internal battery that keeps track of the date and time. The date and time are not constantly displayed, but one press of the "clock/calender" button will give you the date and/or time (after you set it up of course).

The instructions for setting it up are easy to follow.

This is a wonderful device for us mathematically challenged folks. The Amazon 3rd party vendor "Best Source Stationer" (in Monroe, NY) is excellent. Best Source gave me an order confirmation, shipping notice confirmation, and very quick delivery. I highly recommend this product.

The best thing about this calculator is that the buttons are large enough to make totaling up a large number of checks or invoices very quick. I can''t understand those who say this calculator is slow; to the contrary even in print mode it flies. If you want a solid, easy to use adding calculator without frills, you can do much worse than this one.

I''m sure it is a wonderful calculator, everything is easy to use, I just wish I''d read better. I had one that I thought was just like this one, however when this one came it is only usable when plugged in. I really wanted it to be battery operated since I don''t use it at a desk. It is my fault, just wanted others to be aware of this.

Brother HL-1440 Laser Printer

Brother HL-1440 Laser Printer
  • Up to 15 pages per minute print speed
  • True 1,200 x 600 dpi resolution
  • 2MB standard memory, expandable to 34MB
  • Universal 250-sheet adjustable paper cassette
  • Parallel and USB ports; PC and Mac compatible

I selected this printer over the Samsung ML-1430 and the Hewlett Packard LaserJet 1000. After reviewing all three online and then "live" at an office supply store, I ordered the Brother HL-1440. While the print quality may be similar for all three printers, the Brother HL-1440''s build quality, easy memory upgrade path, and cheap consummables made it the clear front runner. Further distinguishing this machine is its superb handling of thicker media. It produces excellent results on cardstock, using a convenient manual feed slot on the front of the machine. Note also that the paper handling of the Brother is, in general, more robust than its Samsung and HP counterparts. The Samsung uses the top-loaded, ink-jet style paper feed system that tends to have less precise alignment. The HP uses a non-removable paper tray that is flimsy at best. The Brother, on the otherhand, uses a standard removable paper tray that is durable and handles envelopes and legal-sized paper just as easily as letter-sized. (And don''t discount the handy manual feed for the single envelope.)

Out of the box, USB setup of this unit on a Windows XP Home machine was a snap. The 1440 comes with a fully illustrated easy setup guide that will have you up and running in no time. All XP drivers are available on the disks that are shipping with these machines at the time of this review.

One last note: Don''t forget to order a USB (or parallel) cable with your printer!

Buy Brother HL-1440 Laser Printer Now

This printer is great for printing really long text documents such as novels and screenplays. I have it set up on two computers--my old Dell Latitude LM and my new Mac G4--via the parallel and USB ports (thank God they started making printers that were PC and Mac compatible!). My 133 megahurtz PC will print a 130 page Final Draft document in 13 minutes 40 seconds (yes, I timed it). My 500 MHz Mac will do a fifteen page Word doc. in 55 seconds. So, I think that on a faster computer, you''ll get the 15 PPM that the company advertises. The 600 dpi text is outstanding for both Times New Roman and Courier Final Draft. And the paper tray holds 250 pages! This is one of the first printers I''ve ever bought that lives up to the hype. I just got rid of a new Epson 870 Photoprinter that was supposed to get 8 PPM but only did 2 PPM on the "draft" setting! I ordered the Brother from Amazon and it got to my house in Oregon in about a week via ground UPS. It took me ten minutes to get it set up and printing. For ... bucks (including shipping) this printer kicks .... A note for those of you who are using Final Draft: Some annoying printers, like the Epson, cut the "continued" text (at the bottom of the page) in half; and you are forced to select the "print maximum field" button every time you print which can be really annoying. No problem with the brother. It prints the entire page in FD docs.

Laser printing is a lot faster than most of the inkjets that we use. When I first installed it and printed the test page, out came a piece of paper so fast, I thought it was a printing mistake. You know the speed of an inkjet, when it is rejecting the print, or only printing the top line, then the paper exits out real fast. Well this printer prints a whole page that fast. The sheet under it is just settling down, when the one over it arrives. For high volume printing needs that is the only way to fly.

This model HL-1440 was Consumer Reports number one rated laser printer. It had the best print speed, and the lowest per page cost of all the units tested.

Since this allows you to hook it up with a USB cable (or with a standard paralell cable), it enables you to keep your existing printer hooked up. Then when you go to print, you can choose either printer.

The one thing I noticed is that the fullness of the text is not as great as the HP 950 series inkjet. It does have 1200 dpi as an option. It normally runs at 600 as the default.

Something worth mentioning. Some comment that they have had problems with the pages getting junk on the page after using it for awhile. The cartridge that comes with the machine, which is rather substantial, loudly states on the cover in bold print, that when moving the machine, the cartridge must be removed, and stored in the bag, or serious damage may result. Those who are having problems, may have moved the machine around, and didn''t treat it too gently. Maybe they did, maybe they didn''t. I would set it up where you plan on using it, and not moving it. If I did move it, I would do so carefully.

One thing that sets this one apart, is the loading tray for the paper. It is removable, and sits in the bottom of the unit. That is reminiscent of quality copying machines.

The big advantage of laser is that the print material is dry powder, so unlike inkjets, can never dry out. I have a friend who bought an NEC laser in 1985, and is still using the original cartridge. (He is frugal, and doesn''t print a lot, but it is a good example of how long a cartridge will last)

At first I considered getting the HL 1470N so I could hook it up to the wireless network. It has the print server and ethernet built in. Then I realized, since it was twice the price, it would be a better idea to get two 1440s. If I ever have any problems, I have a backup on the other machine.

One last thing, is that I like the way the Brother looks. It gives a more substantial and quality feel, than the competition in the entry level machines.

With more money you get different models with higher dpi, Post Script Level 2 or 3, more memory etc.

So far, so good, easy install, in only a few minutes. It installed in an XP machine, and a Windows ME machine without a glitch.

For this kind of money, to get laser speed, and quality, and economy, makes this unit a must have.

Want Brother HL-1440 Laser Printer Discount?

I bought this printer by accident and without realizing it (long story), but I''m reasonably glad I did. I had originally chosen a competitor''s unit, based on three factors: 1) cost, 2) reliability, and 3) good Linux compatibility. For the same price I ended up with the HL-1440 instead. After connecting the HL-1440 up via USB to my Linux PC, I''m mildly glad this "mistake" occurred.

Positives:

1) Super-easy installation for Linux users. Just ghostscript''s "Brother" driver. Even the toner-saving modes are supported. I have had ZERO driver problems.

2) Blazing fast printer. After all these years with Canon SX engine printers (LaserJet II, LaserWriter II, etc.) this unit is a bit of a revelation to me... those pages just keep flying out!

3) Excellent print quality. I''m up to about 3,000 sheets in two-and-a-half months and the print quality is still pristine.

4) Very easy to upgrade. The first thing I did is pop the little cover on the back and put in a standard 32MB 72-pin SIMM to upgrade the memory.

5) LARGE paper tray can hold 3/4ths of a ream. For a personal-sized printer, that''s not bad!

6) Very quiet, and also has an automatic power-save mode in which it appears to be entirely off... until you send it a job, at which time it wakes up in just a few seconds.

There are, however, some drawbacks to consider (and thus three-and-a-half stars, rather than four or five):

1) Separate drum that will eventually have to be replaced. One more consumable to worry about.

2) Construction is just *slightly* on the flimsy side.

3) No printed manual(s), just a CD-ROM containing .PDF files.

4) Call me old-fashioned, but I''d like more than just one button and a couple of LEDs as external controls. A control panel of some kind to choose power-saving, toner-saving, etc. would have been nice (instead of all controls being in the software/driver).

5) If you get a paper jam, watch out! The .PDF manual actually tells you to grab the jammed sheet wherever you can and... start pulling! Most of the paper path is not easily accessible, though, so if you start pulling and a sheet of paper actually tears, leaving half of it inside, you''ll spend quite a while reaching into open covers, trying to extract it so that the printer will agree to print once again. (Upside: I''ve only had the one jam so far...)

All in all, I''m satisfied with this printer. There are two kinds of products: the ones you hope will break soon so that you can replace them in good conscience and the ones that you hope won''t break because you''re busy using them all the time. For me, this printer is in the latter camp.

One day while strolling through Office Max on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, I stumbled across what I thought was an exceptional deal a 1200 DPI laser printer under $200! It almost seemed too good to be true. After some initial skepticism and subsequent analysis, I realized that it was, in fact, an excellent deal for a niche low volume user who needs fast printing.

As a frequent author of reviews, I would typically check Amazon before buying such an item. So after returning to my office, printer in hand, my enthusiasm was somewhat dampened by the negative reviews on the HL-1440. I almost returned it before seeing the print quality and performing some basic calculations. In the end, I am glad I kept it as it serves my need for having a fast, high quality, low volume printer in my one-man office.

Currently I own a [large] microwave-sized multifunction HP inkjet (d155xi), which is at my home office. I decided that if I needed another printer in a second location, it should be a inexpensive laser printer. Initially, I thought I would purchase a $300 HP. My concern with such printers and the other sub-$500 printers was the cost of the consumables. Experience with ink-jets (such as my HP-d155xi) demonstrated that the ink expenditures are a real killer. This, of course, is a ploy by the manufacturers to recoup equipment costs via pricy consumables.

The sales associate at Office Max suggested that the replacement toner cartridges last 6000 sheets for around $60. After some mental calculations, I figured that it would be a good deal. Only when I returned to read the Amazon customer reviews did I learn that there was a second consumable the drum that lasts, at best, 20,000 sheets. This is something I did not anticipate. While I have no way of determining if this second consumable was created for purely technical reasons or merely as a financial/marketing strategy, I would guess that it is a bit of both. Moreover, at a cost of $115 w/tax, the drum costs about 65% of the cost of a HL-1440, making a second drum purchase a psychological obstacle.

To determine if the Brother HL-1440 was a good value, I opened Excel and performed some basic calculations, which you can see below.

Assumptions Drum replaced at 15,000 sheets first time; 18,000 additional sheets second time. High capacity toner lasts stated 6000 sheets, original yields 3000 sheets. Note that it doesn''t come with a USB cable ($20) but I had a surplus one.

$w_tax total$ total sheets ¢_sheet

printer $176 $176 3k 5.9

HC toner 1 $57 $232 9k 2.6

HC toner 2 $57 $289 15k 1.9

New Drum $115 $404 15k

HC toner 3 $57 $461 21k 2.2

HC toner 4 $57 $518 27k 1.9

HC toner 5 $57 $574 33k 1.7

As you can see, if you chose to toss the printer at 15,000 sheets, the average price per sheet is 1.9 cents. This is far below the cost of printing at Kinko''s excluding transportation costs and convenience value. The tricky part comes from the decision to purchase a new drum. It takes a while to recoup the cost of the drum, making it a very tough decision for some. Moreover, one has to guess how long the other components will last. Given my level of use, I would probably not purchase the drum. In the three years that it would take to wear out the first drum, another, more cost effective solution would become available.

Like expectancy issues aside, there are some nice features to this printer. Print quality is excellent (as least after the first 500 pages). While somewhat lightweight compared to workgroup printers, it is built better than most inkjets I have used. Nice touches include the paper level meter where a mechanical needle on the front indicates the height of the paper reserves in the tray.

Some strange problems include mirror printing from certain applications, such as MS Streets and Trips 2004. This is corrected by a patch. There is also a recurring "Found New Hardware" problem where it creates a new printer icon (Copy 1, 2, etc). It usually stops at copy 2. Brother suggests that this is a Windows XP problem. As I have used multiple USB printers on this and similar computers, I doubt that it is just an XP problem. In the end, it appears that a full drive uninstall may have solved this minor annoyance.

In the end, I would suggest this printer is a good choice for low volume home offices or single person companies. If you are like me, someone who prints around a 100 pages per week and needs a fast printer when on deadline, the HL-1440 is a good choice. I would not recommend this for any moderate volume or workgroup environment.

While I have only had this photo printer a very short time, I can already say that it is impressive.

I have never seen this good of print quality.

The 4800x4800 scanner delivered a beautiful 8x10 print from a 35mm negative with no adjustments or computer assistance. The copies were quick and faithful.

I am truly pleased to have purchased this MP810.

I did have some trouble installing the software from the driver cd. For some reason the installation would stall at various points and after 11 or 12 tries it finally installed completely. The drivers themselves work fine.

I have owned several photo printers and used Kodak dye sublimation printers. This high resolution printer simply beats all of my previous experiences.

The printer is Quiet and fast. The scanner is fast and incredibly sharp. Plus it has features that I do not even have time to talk about that are truly amazing. Too many good things to say about it.

If you have 35mm slides that you want to turn into 4x6 prints, then this is the machine for you. I just printed some 53 year old 35mm slides as 4x6 prints and was very surprised at the quality of the colors and clarity of the prints. The Fade Restoration option is great for some of those slides that need a little "extra". The fact that you don''t even need a computer to get started is a big plus. Of course, you do get a lot more versatility with the computer software, but if you just want quality prints from film, slides, cameras, etc. without the hassle of loading up software, this is great!

Con it is a bit on the bulky side, so make sure you have enough room to set it up. I have mine on a card table so that I have more room to lay out the slides I want to print.

I give it a "thumbs up".

After reading reviews at Amazon and elsewhere and seeing the product in the store, the MP810 became my choice. Now I''m the winner!!

I can''t give this printer 10 stars and I''d like to. Printed photos from my digital camera are exquisite and vivid with great definition and depth. Love the separate color cartridges as my granddaughter often wears pink. Using the maintenance ink check, after 15 full coverage 8x10 sheets, the magenta cartridge was down 1/4 and the rest were still at the full mark. I''ve reproduced my husband''s business card on card stock using a PDF format and he couldn''t be happier. The 9 pt. font is clear and sharp. Printed maps from the internet are equally clear and sharp. Printing on both sides is so practical for reports and stored records.

The scanned photos easily popped up into Photoshop CS and look great printed. 4x6 borderless are a snap and beautiful. Usually I wait 24 hrs. to place photos in an album, but I believe these are fully dry much sooner. Printed text included my 1040 and other reports in small fonts. Couldn''t be happier with the printed text (though I noted other reviewers comments to the contrary).

The film/slide scanner is the main feature for choosing this printer over the others. Last year I paid a local camera store $250 to scan 150 slides that were 60 years old. I am preparing another iPhoto book using more of the 60 year-old slides as well as old and new family photos.

Though it is a larger footprint than the HP AIO it replaced, the MP810 looks sophisticated and runs very smoothly (do unlock the scanning bed when you are setting it up). It was an easy set-up out of the box. The screen on the printer is easy to use. Our somewhat elderly digital camera will soon be replaced, but in the meantime the SmartMedia card it uses works just fine in this printer.

This is an awesome, A+ printer. Skipped the fax feature as a requirement since the old HP AIO still faxes OK as a stand alone. You will not regret owning and having fun with this beautiful, many-featured workhorse.

After doing much research, and doing a side-by-side comparison of the Canon All-in-One Printers (Pixma MP830, Pixma MP600, Pixma MP510), the Epson All-in-One Printers, and the HP All-in-One Printers, I can say with complete confidence that Canon''s Pixma line is easily the top of the grouping. The Epson and HP came no where close to the quality of the Canon''s, especially when comparing copying onto everyday use paper.

However, I purchased the MP810 sight unseen. None of the Big Boxes in my area had it available. I purchased it from Crutchfield.com and I was very happy with their service, and definitely with the speed with which they shipped. I received the printer a week before I received other items I had purchased from Amazon.com on the same order.

After having played around with it for over 3wks, I am absolutely delighted with it. The PhotoStudio program that comes with it is easy to learn, and has wonderful features. Yes, the 35mm neg scanning is slow, however, since I can preview each of the negatives before committing to a scan, I can speed up the process by not including the negatives that I have no interest in. Also, I have used other more expensive scanners for 35mm neg scanning, and the MP810 is no slouch in the quality of the scan. Well worth the wait, in fact.

My husband, who is an artist, and very, very picky, has been very impressed with the print quality. Now he says that we need a new camera! I printed a picture of textured sand taken at the beach, and you can see the grains of sand!

The only draw back I can see, is that the MP Navigator program stinks. In fact, I have removed the shortcut from my desktop so that I don''t accidentally use it....

After much research, I bought this printer about 6 weeks ago. I have a Canon Rebel XT camera and wanted a printer that would print great photos as well as scan 35mm slides and negatives. So far everything more than lives up to my expectations! I really like this printer and I''ve had a lot of experience with printers both at home and at work. I am an artist and planned to use the camera to take photos of possible subjects for paintings and print them as a reference. I also use it as a way of keeping a digital record of all my paintings. I use the printer to scan in small paintings directly, scan in old slides of my paintings, take photos of paintings in progress, and to scan in old color negatives to use as reference material. The only problem I had was figuring out how to scan in the slides and negatives and save them to my computer the printer instructions only told you how to print them. However, I looked at the software that came with the printer and immediately was able to figure out how to scan them to the computer and save the images. Because of its versatility, the printer has quickly become an indispensable tool for me as an artist. But don''t forget to buy the USB cable which you will need to hook up to your computer!

They work fine, I had problems keeping them locked into place. I found that the small little tab that you click to insert or remove needed to carefully be bent outwards to stay locked in. Also I got a message saying that the ink was empty and please replace with genuine HP inks. I just hit clear or ok and they work fine but the ink level indicators don''t show accurate levels. With the price of HP ink those 2 things don''t bother me.

The colors are fine and you get a full round of all the colors to replace. The only last thing is that the Big black ink isn''t the same size and the HP version its slightly smaller but again for the price i''m ok with them.

Have mixed feelings about these cartridges. When I opened them ink ran out all over my hands... still have the stains to prove it. After it happened with two I learned to put on rubber gloves and open them over the sink. They seem to work OK once I got them in the printer.

These cartridges work fine, and produce quality prints, equal to OEM carts. The printer does complain about non-HP brand, and won''t report ink levels. I can live with that for half the price of OEM!

I did not get to use these cartridges for a couple months and when I installed them my printer said the were almost or completely empty, The black was fine but only two of the colors printed at all.

I am unable to use these cartridges because the "T" tab to lock it in place is actually upside down. My HP cartridges have the "T" facing straight up. There was no return label or invoice so I had no 800# to call. I finally was able to track the shipper on my previous orders & I''m told it''s too late to return them. I will never order from this shipper again. That was a big waste of $53!!!!

I have owned this printer for almost 3 years. Most of the time it has been broken for one reason or another. It goes through ink pretty fast, and the ink cartridges are very touchy, and I have ruined the last 2 black inks just by installing them. Yes, the replacement cartridges are pricey. And when it is working, I have had a lot of problems with it not printing all of the page, etc. This printer has been a big pain in my booty!

I bought this printer in February 2008 for $29.99 to replace my old HP that went on the fritz. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! The printer is cheap in price, cheap in quality, GREAT in scanning (that is the only reason I will keep it), and EXPENSIVE in replacement ink. Yes, I have tried those discount ink places and the cartridges are still the most expensive I have seen. And yesterday it stopped printing altogether and it''s not worth even taking it in to be repaired. It truly has been a headache, so I''d rather spend a little more and get a printer that I can count on printing.

I had no problems with anything ''til yesterday. Now, it won''t turn on. I paid $30 for it, June of 2008. It doesn''t seem like Lexmark is the brand to buy for me anymore. Yes, the ink is expensive. Hmmmm. . . bummer.

We got this printer about 2 1/2 years ago. It has always worked pretty well except for the tendency to freeze my system and require a restart. Last week it simply stopped reading the color ink cartridge. Now there is a cartridge in the machine but it will not read it so I cannot print anything. I have done everything I know and cannot fix the problem. I have read reviews of other Lexmark printers that also stop reading the color cartridge. I am now looking for an inexpensive replacement but they all seem to have problems so it is difficult to choose one.

I got this printer for half off at Target and thought it was a great deal. But I should have looked at the ink cartridge prices! They are way too expensive, especially for a printer that runs out of ink CONSTANTLY! This printer eats up ink, even when you have it set to print using the lowest amount of ink! And this size of this thing is excessive. If you open the hood you see that it really doesn''t have to be this big. It takes up way too much space.

I do love the scanner though. I would give the scanner 5 stars but the printer doesn''t deserve any stars. And I never used the fax that it comes with, and I uninstalled the fax software, but that made the whole printer malfunction, which is SO DUMB! The fax software is taking up space on my computer and if I delete it, everything else stops working?! Lexmark = FRAUD!
