Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper LUSTER (S041405) Save 29% off

Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper LUSTER
  • Ultra Premium luster finish; formerly packaged by Epson as Premium Luster Photo Paper
  • 240 g/m2 weight
  • 10 mil thickness, 97% opacity
  • Convenient 8.5-by-11-inch size
  • 50 sheets per package

I have an Epson 960 Photo Printer. I have tried various Epson photo papers with the printer and this is by far the best. The premium glossy paper was nice but I could see some bands through the image that were barely percepible even when the printer was new. With the Premium Luster paper the ink lays down beautifully and perfectly and the image has what I can only describe in words as a rich feel to it. Paper selection is very personal but if you have not tried this paper you owe it to yourself to run some of it through your printer. There''s a good chance you''ll be back for more.

This is a fantastic product. I use it to print pictures with a professional look. It is a matte finish paper and the finished product looks so much better on this paper than any other photo paper. I print at home, and it is virtually impossible to distinguish the photos I have printed on this paper from professional processing. I highly recommend this product.

I have an Epson R-380 high definition printer with Claria inks and the best paper that I''ve found for it is the Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy, which is by far the best photo paper that''s I''ve ever used on that printer. I''ve also had excellent results with the Ultra Premium Presentation Paper Matte. It''s interesting but I recently tried some Kodak Premium Photo Paper Matte and it might be an excellent paper on another printer, on the Epson, produced extremely small horizontal lines. Barely noticeable but definitely there. With the Epson matte paper, these line completely disappeared and the results were near perfection.

I''ve had such great results with these papers that I decided to try the Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster and all I can say is that I''m definitely adding it to my papers. I run a small business selling photo prints and cards and use different papers. The finish is determined by the photo. Some just call out for high gloss, while others require a different surface.

The luster finish is sort of a cross between matte and glossy and is similar to the ilford pearl paper but holds the Epson inks a bit better. It''s a beautiful surface and is a pleasure to look at. It''s actually luxurious.

Between these three Epson papers, I have it all covered. The choice in photo paper makes all the difference in the world to the serious photographer. Not so much if you''re just printing snapshots. This review is aimed at those who want professional photo lab results at home.

The Epson R-380 printer as well as these three papers provide the best results. Since I''m actually selling these prints, I''m not as interested in keeping the costs of printing down as I am in the results.

Even a few years ago, who would have thought that this level of excellence was possible with home inkjet printing? I now have a full color photo lab right in my office.

I have a Canon i950 that I hadn''t been that happy with using photo paper by Burlington, Fuji, or Kodak. I purchased this to try to see if the poor quality of my prints was the printer or the paper. Having placed the Epson Premium Luster through several head to head comparisons tonight the answer is that the printer is fine and the Epson Premium Luster is AWESOME.

The photos print just beautifully on this paper. Colors are crisp, droplets don''t smudge together and the luster surface dries quickly. This has the look and feel of the paper that wedding photographer use. I printed both high pixel and low pixel count photos. The low pixel counts looked much better on this paper but the proof really comes on high pixel count photos. The resolution is lovely.

I typically like Epson papers and have used their Premium Glossy papers for years. But I don''t quite know what to make of this luster paper. I would like a paper with a little lower reflectivity for prints that are viewed under bright lights. But this sacrifices too much. I shoot at high resolution and spend time calibrating monitors and editing photos to get realistic colors. With this paper, detail goes missing and colors are washed out. It''s possible that the printer profile itself is off, but I use an Epson printer (R800) and there''s little excuse for that. Their profiles for other papers are pretty close.

If you like prints that look like watercolors, then this may be the paper for you. I think it''s going to take me a very long time to get through this pack.

I bought two of these machines for use at my office and at home. I specifically needed a networkable printer so that my kids could print homework from their laptops and other desktops could use the printer. What Canon hides extremely well is that this model does NOT scan to or from a network: it prints on a network but it will not scan on one. So, if you set this up to allow printing by several machines no-one can scan to it or from it; the scanner is just disabled. The scanner will only work when the machine is connected to one (and one only)computer. So, you can scan/print to one machine or print on a network but not both. It is almost beyond comprehension to me that a reputable company like Canon would do something this stupid. Save the box because you won''t know about the limitations of this printer until you have installed the drivers and set the whole thing up. Otherwise the printer appears solid and the software short and well designed.

The D1100 series is a replacement for the aging MF6500 series. We bought four new D1120''s for several small office locations, with different people using them. The first month or so they all worked fine. Then the problems began...and just continue on. Document feeders stop feeding. Paper jams that are impossible to fix. Document feed stops working. Flimsy door hinges that break. Document feeder stops working. Unknown "check document" errors. Did I mention the document feeders stop working? All four machines just keep crapping out. I send them to the repair shop, and wait weeks to get them back. Once they are out of warranty, I''m going to just trash them, because I''m not going to keep paying for repairs.

Please, Canon, go back to the MF6540. They were real workhorses, and when they had problems, those problems were easy to fix. The D1120 is a nightmare that won''t stop.

EDIT Sept 2012: One by one, I threw those awful D1120''s out and replaced them with a rebranded IBM, Samsung''s SCX5935FN available on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SCX5935FN-Multifunction-Printer-5x18x21-1/product-reviews/B002IE1LMC/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 So far, I''ve bought five, and they are all working great. They are a bit more expensive, but have been very dependable.

I''m very disappointed in this machine. If you only need a printer/copier or have it directly attached to your computer with a usb cable then it presumably works as advertised. It prints envelopes easily and was simple to set up until I tried to scan something.

In my effort to go as paperless as possible, several weeks after the printer arrived, I went to scan something. It didn''t work and the instruction manual was not clear at all. I called Canon and was told that this machine was the "bottom of the line" and did not have the capability I asked for. If I wanted to scan from a network (I do only because the physical distance between my computer and the printer means using an ethernet cable rather than usb to connect) I should have bought one of the other higher end models.

I may have missed something but I don''t see that important information anywhere in the product description or on the packaging that it arrived in.

The tech suggested that I put my computer on a cart and wheel it over to the printer when I wanted to scan. REALLY! After some time on the phone and several levels of support I was offered a print buffer device that once installed will allow me to scan but only if I use a pc. Of course I mainly use a mac. I can''t say if the device works because I have not yet been able to get the installation instructions and set it up. I had to hang up after extended hold times waiting for a Canon rep.

We used older Canon model for about 6 years and were very happy with its performance. Then the top scanner broke, so we looked for a newer model from Canon it suits perfectly a small private practice. It scans, copies, faxes, interacts with networks, you name it... Now if only more retailers had ink supply, that would be the end of the problems. Yes, the ink is expensive, but check the load -number of copies it can produce! It''s worth all of it. So if you''re looking for a reliable multitasking office copier, don''t go any further. I strongly recommend. Oh, by the way, we''re still using the old machine for printing jobs only.

It scans very quickly when it works properly. The automatic document feeder jams most of the time. Occasionally, the communication between computer and printer hangs up. I''ve also had problems with printing. It has given me a false paper jam reading on several occasions. We purchased two. Both of them have the same problems. Their support has been nonexistent. Canon has lost my confidence in their products. I will go back to HP printers. They cost more but have always worked flawlessly.

Lexmark X3550 Three In One Multifunction Printer W

Lexmark X3550 Three In One Multifunction Printer W
  • Product Description Lexmark X 2500 - multifunction ( color ) Device Type Copier / printer / scannerC

Do not buy this product, I will not buy Lexmark products anymore. I spoke with 7 reps, reinstalled the driver 5 times and also got so mad they actually sent me a new printer, guess what, that printer did not work as promised either. If you dont have to scan, then you can buy this product. If you have to scan anything do not buy this product. Both computers do not scan. I see a lot of rants on-line also so you know Lexmark knows about the problem. I seen some dated from 2007. They can at least add a patch to the driver. Don''t buy. Customer Service is good for sending me the replacement printer, but the product is garbage.

This is my second Lexmark and my last...My previous Lexmark all-in-one came with my Dell computer and it worked okay, but was slow and froze up the computer every time I tried to cancel a print job. So, I decided to buy a newer X3550 Lexmark All-In-One machine. From the onset, I''ve experienced many problems. The "power save" feature is great, until you cannot get the printer to come back on when you push the power button...I have to actually unplug the power pack from the back and reinsert each time this happens to get any response from the unit. (I believe that Lexmark has addressed this issue, but I''m unable to get the fix downloaded from their website (not found).) The printer software still hangs up the entire computer system when I cancel a print job. And if you don''t like to spend money on ink cartridges, steer clear of this machine. I don''t print many pictures or documents, but the cartridges go very quickly regardless. The paper feeder gets jammed up often. First it started pulling papers in crooked, scrunching to one side, and would jam before the paper got thru the machine. Now I have a piece of scrunched up paper stuck inside the machine out of reach of fingers or tweezers. So, it''s useless now. I''ve tried technical support from Lexmark but that was laughable. I asked for the name/location of the nearest warranty service center because it''s still under warranty and was never given that info...but they were quite willing to help me troubleshoot my problems (over and over and over to no avail).

I bought this printer a year and half ago, and it had the same problems everyone else has mentioned, freezing up the computer, jamming, and running out of ink, I tried a refill for my exsisting cartridge, and the printer is programmed to not accecpt the same cartridge regardless of the ink level, so we bought a new one, mistake was buying a new lexmark with the wifi cablability for the office, it has all the same exact problems regardless of which computer it is told to print from. Same deal with wanting you to buy their cartridges, and if you run out of black it won''t let you even use color to get by, it won''t even let you fax! Until you buy more of their overpriced ink! what a JOKE!

Stay AWAY no matter how cheap the deal at staples or walmart is!

I usually give products the benefit of the doubt before i will submit a bad review. This printer constantly disconnects from my networks. I rarely can get it to print. Sometime I can get it to work but reconfiguring it from scratch.. It will then work for a couple of days them quit again. The ink also seems to last about a week. I would skip this printer.

The Lexmark printer is a pain and more work than it''s worth. As another reviewer commented, the driver had to be reinstalled many times, everytime I ran into a problem, that was usually the solution. It says it has a fax, but there''s no phone line hook-up. Called them, they said you did it over the net. Tried to set it up, ran into a message that said no fax available on this unit. If you try to use a non Lexmark ink, you had to click several times through to get the printer going. It keeps telling you to order Lexmark ink every time, like you''re some kind of dummy. And it says you are low on ink, even with fresh non Lex ink cartridges in it. While it actually works, printing quality and speed ok, but no fun if it takes an hour of fixes to get there. I doubt I buy Lexmark again.

Epson Stylus NX-127 All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer

Epson Stylus NX-127 All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer - Copier - ScannerThis is by far the WORST printer I have ever had. We got it during Thanksgiving when Best Buy had their $30 deal. It worked okay (just noisy and slow) until it ran out of ink, which was really quickly. We''ve now gone through two ink replacements just trying to get it realigned, the nozzles cleaned, etc. All inks must be full to work, which stinks since you use up the entire new ink cartridges very quickly after loading them just trying to get the heads realigned. Going through Epson''s help center came up with "There is no solution to your problem." After spending several hours and all of my paper running through all the tests and trying to get it not to skip lines when it prints, I''m done. It''s not worth the hassle. The scanner is ok, so I''m going to hook my old printer back up and just use this thing to scan. If it weren''t for that I''d take it out to some lonely rural area and run over it repeatedly with my car. Spend your money on something better and save the frustration and hundred dollars'' worth of ink!

My need for a scanner was the primary motivation for this purchase. Worked fine for one week. The printer comes with epson cartridges 124; they''re billed as moderate. That''s too kind an adjective as they didn''t last but about 40 sheets. The replacement ink cartridge is epson number 125 (expensive considering its output) and is billed as normal but the I dont know if it would have lasted due to the printer failing to power up. Yes, it didn''t last a month.

The printer does not seemable to do basic functions well. Out of the box-you''re tweaking the paper to load, etc.

Save your money. Buy a brother. I was desperate due to a recent move and bought this marketing tool for their overpriced ink cartridges.

This printer''s scanner does not scan full images, frequently cuts off the top of an image, and is all around difficult. Picture quality is mediocre, the ink is insanely hard to replace, and the buttons do not always function correctly. Do not buy this printer!

Genius ColorPage BR600 Portable Business Card Scanner

Genius ColorPage BR600 Portable Business Card Scanner
  • Scans and recognizes data in business cards from 50 nations
  • Automatic orientation, de-skewing, cropping and optical character reading (OCR)
  • 600 dpi resolution
  • Powered by USB cable
  • Includes carrying pouch

Unfortunate for this scanner, I own a Cardscan 700c which does a great job at scanning business cards and has very slick software which builds the contact list, imports or exports contacts from/to popular programs, creates entries that have the front and back of the cards, has drag and drop functionality, and more.

I purchased this Genius ColorPage BR600 as a gift for my better half who recently became a Real estate agent. Of course, she has seen my Cardscan in action in the past. Her comment about this Genius scanner was "you could tell its a lower priced and inexpensive scanner. If the print on the card is in anyway faint, this scanner will not pick it up". Also, she has business cards that have black backgrounds with white text (business cards of the agents where she works). This scanner can not scan and OCR them, but the Cardscan scanner does well with these cards.

If cost is the most important thing to you, then this is a good product. But if you are looking for a scanner which can scan almost anything you give it, you should spend more and get a Cardscan product.

Buy Genius ColorPage BR600 Portable Business Card Scanner Now

At $30, this biz card reader was inexpensive enough (compared to other card readers) that I decided to buy it to see what it can do before making a larger investment in another reader. It''s barely worth the $30, however, because it''s below basic. That is, it reads almost no font other than Ariel or Times Roman-type fonts. With fancy fonts, forget it. You must type the info into the fields. The name "ColorPage" is truly misleading because this thing won''t read most cards that are anything but white or very light colors, such as beige. If it''s color, it can''t read it (so the name really irritates me). If the card is laid out length-wise rather than the standard way, the reader often gets confuses and can''t read it properly, forcing you to type the info. A major problem is if the card has any handwriting at all on it (such as many that I must process because people add personal email addresses, etc.), the reader can''t handle this and gives you Greek. So, you end up typing in the info. Last, you cannot add any fields to what''s provided, which are insufficient. So it misses additional info that must be handled manually in your database program or wherever else.

SUMMARY: If you have many standard, light-colored biz cards to process, this unit will do the job at the very basic level and save you some time. All other cards you must handle manually.

I do a lot of networking. If business cards were money, I could sell my company and retire. I bought this little gizmo thinking I''ll automate the tedious process of scanning the cards and having to cut and paste the text.

I was happy when I got my business card reader, happy like a child opening a Christmas day gift. I plugged in my scanner and started to streamline the networking "process". "Santa was good to me," I thought as I scanned card after card. After a few weeks, strange and unexpected things began to happen. The reader would work sometimes and sometimes it would not. One day, it simply stopped working period....just like that

Using this thing took longer than actually typing in the information myself! First the scanner only gets about 10% of the scan correct. Second it loads it into a database that for the life of me i could not get to transfer to outlook. Third there is no third i thru this in my box of crappy electronics that don''t work!

Samsung SCX-4500 Monochrome Laser Multifunction Printer

Samsung SCX-4500 Monochrome Laser Multifunction Printer
  • Stylish multi-function device prints, copies, and scans
  • Prints and copies at a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi for crisp text
  • High-quality scanning at 4800 x 4800 dpi
  • Ultra quiet; emits less than 45 decibels of sound when in operation
  • Device measures 13 x 6.5 x 15.5-inches (WxHxD)

This printer is smaller than I thought. It is about the size of a small desktop PC. It is rather "cool" looking printer. If you are trying to make a fashion statement with your printer, then this printer does its job.

Its small size comes with one noticeable compromise: a small paper tray that can only hold 75-100 sheets. It is not built to be a large volume printer and even infrequent use may result in filling the paper tray more than one desires. It can, however, print at a fast speed and at a good quality (600 dpi) resolution. The copier function is easy to use (press the copy button) and works reasonably well, and is good for low volume copying. I had no problems copying a 20 page document and it processed each copy in less than 5 seconds. The copy quality was on par with standard office copy machines.

The refill tray is expensive (about $70) and only prints about 2000 pages. That comes to around 3.5 cents per page. That is somewhat high.

One thing of note, this printer does not have a fax capability. So it is not all-in-one laser printer.

I recommend this printer to those who need a reasonably good laser printer/copier in a small form factor. If you need a high volume printing/copying machine which prints at a low print/cent ratio, then I would look elsewhere.

PROS:

-Text is crisp

-Printer/Scanner is super quiet

-Light, and relatively small foot print

-Eye candy. It''s no eyesore like most MFPs.

CONS:

-No fax.

-No duplex printing.

-No wireless.

-No envelope printing support

-Only comes with a 1000 page "starter" toner cartridge. Replacement cartridges yield 2000 pages.

OTHER:

At $300, I would have never purchased this printer. $250 made it slightly more bearable. I knew of all aforementioned disadvantages/cons before buying, but still decided it was a worthwhile investment. I just listed them for the curious.

Wireless capability and maybe a duplex add-on would be nice, though, and probably expected in this price range.

MAC Users:

Download the latest drivers/applications from Samsung''s website, if you want the "scan-to-file" button to work.

I bought this model about two weeks ago and heavily using it since than. Shortly, I''m happy with it. Here are the details :

The Good :

-Sleak, stylish design for people who are tired of low material quality and same beige/gray looks

-Very quiet operation

The Bad :

-Price. It is $300 right now and its qualifications don''t worth the tag. Printers in that price level have wireless and fax capability (but not the looks, well it''s a trade off in this case)

-Limited paper storage

-Not really small. (still smaller than most, but it is not really a compact printer as I assumed).

As I noted, overall I''m happy with the printer as I paid for the looks. One other thing which bothered me is, it doesn''t come with connection cable. After paying premium buck, I would expect to get the cable with the printer.

IT''S GORGEOUS. This has got to be the most attractive, stylish printer ever manufactured. Piano gloss black. Subtle blue lights glow from underneath the black glass to count copies, indicate functions, etc. The buttons ARE the blue lights, you just touch the glass to activate the button. Slick. It makes my office desk look very very sharp.

IT''S QUIET. The thing just issues a whisper and a whoosh and out shoots the print job. I actually ENJOY hearing it print. It emits soothing, gentle chime-like sounds when it boots up, shuts down, finishes a job, and so forth.

IT''S FAST. It takes a few seconds to warm up on the first page, then the pages just fly out.

IT''S COMPACT. The footprint is barely larger than the 8.5 x 11 paper it uses. Just a few inches tall.

IT''S EASY TO LOAD PAPER. It''s got a physical button (the only physical button) you push to kick out the tray.

IT''S RELIABLE. I haven''t had a single issue so far. Out of the box, plug it up, follow the quick start/initialization steps, install the software and good to go ever since, 100%. Very easy/intuitive so far. Not a single paper jam.

AND I STOLE IT. My local Best Buy was dumping it NIB for about $140. [ BB was actually asking much more for the exact same model withOUT the scanner, since that one wasn''t discounted to clear. Crazy, huh? ] Then I had a standing BB coupon for another $20 off. Plus it kicked me over for my quarterly BB reward.

Not SO bad, really, considering all the positives.

I really wish it could do color.

It doesn''t fax.

It looks like cost per page ain''t gonna be so nice.

I got it cheap, but at the going street price, you''re paying a lot for the look of the thing.

The toner cartridge provided in the box is intentionally only half full.

They didn''t include the USB cable in the box.

It doesn''t hold much over 70 sheets of paper.

The part of the scanner software that converts scans to PDF has a bug in it. (It won''t crop the entire glass scan.) I had to download some TWAIN-compliant shareware (called SoftiPDF) to use instead. The Softi software automatically recognized the printer.

The scanhead lets out a horrid groan about half way through the pass.

The print job just flops out on the desk or floor unless you slip in the flimsy paper tray/catch, which is in the way and/or gets knocked off if you leave it in. So I keep it in a drawer and slide it in before every job then put it away again when done.

I''ll let you know when I have to cough it up for the first replacement toner cartridge. When I looked a while back, $50 to $70 was the going rate. Hopefully, I''ll be able to find a cheaper, recharged one by the time I need it.

Samsung SCX-4500 Monochrome Laser Multifunction Printer

I love this printer! Everytime I use it, I look at it & smile. I am a writer & a teacher & have used a Samsung basic b&w laser printer for years. I bought it for after a and put a new cartridge in every six months. I had a separate Visioneer scanner and an Epson MF printer with copy & fax capability. All serviceable technology but so "blah & functional looking."

Last year, I replaced my old computer with a HP Pavillion Slimline Desktop with a Pocket Media Drive; recycled my scanner & Samsung & Epson Printer and purchased this Smasung SCX 4500.( I knew what I wanted & am a patient, crafty shopper so I pounced when the price was right & bought it for .!) And I am thrilled!! They are both elegant & highly functionally. The Pocket Media drive is a joy and the printer is so QUIET...SO QUIET!! It has this soft little woosh sound when it is doing its thing.

If your desk is in a family area or bedroom nook, this is tecnology you can enjoy displaying. This is not a workhorse machine but there are plenty of those on the market. The small 100 sheet paper tray is a small trade off for the advantages.

I am a 65+ senior woman, who has owned computers since the early 1980''s. I am not a notebook person but do appreciate all the mobility featues of small, lightweight, smart looking gadgets. This printer has a small footprint, is lightweight and great looking!

Note: I no longer use a fax as I scan & e-mail documents.

  • 300 x 300 dpi resolution with 256 color gradations
  • Small and lightweight; portable with optional battery pack
  • Supports "digital print order format" for batch jobs and photo lab orders

I have worked with 3 dyesub printers, the Cannon CD-300, the Sony DV-77, and this printer. This printer produces the best images. Everytime I display prints I get comments on how good they are. The prints are sharp and the color is accurate.

I really like the small size of the printer and being able to use the screen on my G2 to select and trim the pictures. I was able to purchase a Canon camera bag that holds the printer, camera, flash, and paper/ink packs.

Another great feature of the printer/camera combination is the speed of the printing. As soon as I select print on the camera the printer starts printing the picture. With other printers I had to wait for print pre-processing.

A drawback of the printer is that the kit to connect it to a computer is not yet available. I get around that by editing the images on my computer and by using the Canon ZoomBrowser software to copy the images to a compact flash card that I can put in the G2 for printing.

This printer produces 4X6 prints on postcard paper that look like they came from a photo lab. The quality is fantastic, and the relatives were in awe. I am very very happy with the printer and the Canon S400 camera I use it with. I now have a portable print studio. Do not confuse this printer with ink jet printers. It uses dye sublimation, a completely different printing process. The result is something that looks and feels like a glossy photo postcard, not a piece of paper. You don''t put ink in it, so there is no ink to jam your print nozzles since neither exist in this printer. You buy the equivalent of ink and paper in kits made from Canon. (KP-36IP, for example)

This printer was very easy to use. Just pop in the cartridge, paper, and plug in the camera. The camera has to be a certain type of Canon, but there is an available computer cable (I have not gotten it yet), to hook up other cameras. The benefit of using a Canon camera with this printer is you can travel without a computer, and still print out pictures. These pictures look beautiful, and the colors are true and bright. Printing couldn''t be easier and fast. I was able to get a print while my 2 year old was frantically trying to pull the plugs, press the buttons and all arms and legs struggling. It''s fun watching the three colors slide in and out in the three passes the printer makes to process the picture. Instant gratification!

Want Canon CP-100 Digital Photo Printer Discount?

If you own a Canon digital camera this printer is great. It is portable and makes great prints. People think they are from a photolab. It is also vey easy to use. I have seen other mini printers from Olympus and Sony and they are not as good. They cost more too.

I have been very pleased with this printer. So long as your resolution is set very high on your camera your pictures will be as good as lab quality!

The only downside is it does not come with a disk to run this printer with your computer or the cable needed. You have to buy it directly from Cannon. Also I have had a few pictures come out with very faint lines or dots.

I would purchase this printer again if I had to make the decision for a second time.
