If you are looking for that one paper that simulates the look of traditional black and white darkroom doubleweight bromide paper this is it. Just a gorgeous look to the print, be it black and white or color. I use it with the Epson R2400 and am excited every time a print is printed using this paper. A great beautiful paper with a rich not too glossy fibre like look to it. Only drawback is that you can not sign it with pencil on the front but can sign it with pencil on the back. Gel pens can sign on the front . I am going to try out the Zebra Sarasa pens which are Acid Free and have Archival qualities to see how they work when signing on the front. Try this paper you will be very pleased with its qualities.I tried the Zebra Sarasa pens on this paper and they work flawlessly.The ink dries instantly and does not smudge and the ink is Acid free and of Archival quality! If you want the highest quality ink this is it. In the generic vs manufactorers ink. I''ve always felt the quality was with hp the generic was with price. Hp always gives the sharpest images but at an added cost. The added cost is slimmed down a bit by amazon. I admittedly never bought from this seller before, but I thought since Amazon backed them I would get a good product. I spent $19.65 on this color cartridge. I put it in today & printed a total of eight pages of color pictures with black text. My printer immediately started blinking a warning to change my cartridge. I checked my computer thinking there was an error. Nope, after only eight pages printed, the color cartridge is empty. Eight pages of print for $19.65?! What a waste!

I''m using an Epson 1280 photo printer. The luster roll paper is very nice, and I think it''s a significant improvement over the standard glossy paper. I find the glossy far too shiny (the glossy paper resembles glossy RC paper, while the matte is closer to Azo in finish). Each to their own taste, but I think for large prints a semimatte or matte finish is the way to go.
Loading roll paper is a bit painful, as it needs to be decurled at the end before it''s loaded and the whole process wasn''t terribly intuitive. It took a few tries the first time to get it loaded, but now it seems pretty easy.
Cutting the paper after it''s been printed is a bit awkward, but the solution I found was to leave a 1-2" border at the end of the job, chop it off with some scissors (probably cutting it crookedly in the process) then cut it neatly later with a paper cutter.
I''m printing out very large (26" by 24") images, and so far it''s worked great. I''m still learning some tricks to get two 13" prints merged together, but even my rough efforts so far look just fine... and it''s a lot less expensive than a 36" printer. It''s just a neat trick one can do with a borderless printer.

I''ve used this paper in cut sheets with a desktop photo printer in the past and liked it. Now I have a 24" Canon printer and use fiber-based papers for large prints, but I wanted something I could get in 13" rolls for smaller prints. Premium Luster is the only high-quality RC paper I know of that is available in 13" rolls (Ilford used to make Galerie Smooth Pearl in 13" rolls, but if they still do nobody seems to be stocking it).This is a high quality paper, with DMax as good as anything else on the market (I''ve measured over 2.6 with Canon Lucia EX inks). The color gamut is also very good, though not quite to the level of some of the higher-end (and much more expensive) fiber-gloss papers. The surface is nice for an RC paper, it''s not super glossy but the luster texture isn''t too rough either. The paper white is a bit on the bluish side due to optical brighteners; this will give nice bright color prints, but for black-and-white prints I prefer a warmer white.
Despite what the specs on the Epson website say, the 13" rolls are on a 2" core, not the 3" core that the wider rolls come on. I guess that''s for compatibility with printers like the Epson 2400.
My main complaint is the strong curl this paper has; much worse than other roll papers I''ve used, probably due in part to the smaller 2" core. This can actually cause problems with head-strikes during printing, especially in a printer that doesn''t use a vacuum feed (I have to set the vacuum strength to "high" on my ipf6300 to avoid head-strikes). Unless you''re dry-mounting the prints or using a mat with quite a bit of overlap, you''ll have problems with the curl unless you "de-curl" the paper after printing (not as easy to do as you might think, without damaging the print).
One other minor issue, this paper shows fingerprints more readily than others I''ve used, so handle with care.
All in all it''s a nice RC-luster paper, capable of producing very high quality prints. Best suited to color, or cool-toned black-and-white if that''s to your liking.

We switched to using the 57+ line of color cartridges after witnessing appalling amounts of fading with photos we had given to relatives (printed on Costco photo paper). It is especially bad under fluorescent lights.So now we use only HP photo paper and 57+ ink (previously called "Vivera"). The results are definitely better, but I haven''t conducted any fade tests yet.
Other than that, the printing quality is the same, so if you are ordering this thinking that magically your photos will look different, well, they won''t. This ink fading issue is giving me lots to consider when it comes to choosing what our next printer will be.

My wife complained that the pictures I was printing were fading under fluorescent lights. I tried this cartridge and the problem has gone away. It does last longer and that is all I wanted. I would have given 5 stars but cartridges are just sooo expensive.

It also gets violent at times. The cradle wit the cartridge heads will fly back and fourth very violently smashing into each side over and over again until I unplug the thing... like it is now.
I''ll plug it back in to see what happens, but I think the time is right to get a new printer.

I have been using this printer for several years in my small office. It does a good job printing documents and photos. With some work I can print envelops. I agree with the above review. Sometimes the printer seems possessed. The printer head with slam violently from side to side. This printer is a bit past its prime, with regards to its features. Other printers offer more, but this little guy is a champ. He works well, is very reliable, quiet and fast.We have not experienced the jamming problems cited by other folks.

When I received the order, the box was severely damaged and there was no filler inside it was clattering. The paper rolls were smeared from each other and almost dark grey. When I was disappointed at the quality of the paper rolls, I realized I ordered wrong size. I was rather relieved. I requested return and sent them back. Of course I paid the shipping and got a delivery confirmation from USPS. For about 10 days after it was delivered back to the seller, I contacted the seller because I did NOT hear anything. The response was only 1 line "Let us double check and let you know soon." NO "HI" or "SORRY." I waited another week but still no response. I do not understand why it has to take so long. I provided all the info including delivery conf.Bad quality product. Bad quality packaging. Terrible customer service.The thermal receipt papers for my credit card terminal are pretty pricey if you purchase them at a store like Office Depot or Staples. A 6 pack will normally run about $12. So taking that into consideration, getting 50 rolls for this price is awesome and definitely contributes to keeping my overhead in-check. I''ll definitely be ordering more.

I found one limitation with this printer that prevented me from giving it five stars. The printer can only be used as a network printer attached to the router via an Ethernet cable or it can be a workstation printer supporting one PC attached via a USB cable. If your using Windows networking to share the printer (i.e. it''s connected to one PC via USB and enabled for print sharing), it''s not supported. What? You got it. Brother won''t let you share the printer other than to have it setup as a network printer attached to the router.
This is an issue if, like me, the router is nowhere near the printer and you want to do a lot of scanning using the PC based utilities vs. the little screen on the printer. You can scan with it as a network printer but you can only do it using the function keys on the printer itself. You lose the benefits of the PC software based approach. If you do any volume of scanning, you want the PC utilities enabled.
I was able to work around the problem and get it working like I wanted but it took a couple days working on and off to sort out. I called Brother technical support. They kindly told me the printer doesn''t support what I wanted to do and I should return the product. What? Unbelievable!!
To get it to work as a shared USB attached printer, you have to go through the CD install process on each PC. That''s okay once you understand that''s the process.
The only remaining limitation is quickly setting up a temporary shared user. Say your brother-in-law is in town for the weekend and needs to print. He can''t use the Windows "Add a printer" function and get to your Brother printer. You have to go find the CD and do a full install for your brother-in-law to print his Mapquest directions home. It''s not a huge problem but Brother should not have designed it this way.

The Brother 9120CN has very limited adjustment for making copies you can''t lighten it enough to get a clean copy of a newspaper article something my old HP 2840MFP handled fine. Normal computer print is OK, as it would be from most any laser printer, but the manual feed slot is poor. It only folds out about an inch, so it won''t support your paper; you have to hold each sheet until it feeds very inconvenient. The first time I used manual feed, I experienced the problem that others have reported where the printer says it has a paper jam, even though it doesn''t. But, you go through a long process to reset the printer, only to have it repeat the error message. I sure wish I hadn''t bought this turkey, but Brother has refused to let me return it after I identified all these issues.So far I have had an excellent experience with the printer. My Brother MFC-9440CN broke down and I was looking for something comparable, but cheaper to operate. The MFC-9120CN has filled the bill perfectly.Print quality is very good

I highly recommend the MFC-9120CN to anyone looking for a feature packed printer at a very reasonable price.Exactly as described. Setup was simple and straight-forward. It is a bit loud when it''s starting up, but once it goes back to sleep, it''s quiet again. For an office use this would be no problem. If you did a *lot* of printing at home, the noise might be a bit bothersome. But otherwise, this appears to be a great product.
I only needed the printer for text and simple graphics. Out of the box, it was easy to set up and worked perfectly. Everything was working well until suddenly a message appeared telling me to replace the toner in all 3 of the color cartridges.
I have used a number of printers in the past and am able to recognize when toner is low. The last page printed was perfectly fine...lots of color. The printer stopped at 9PM the evening before I had a big paper due; so I contacted the Brother support website (the phones were closed). After further research, it appears that there is a revolution counter used by the printer to indicate when the cartridges are empty. How on earth would all the cartridges empty at the same time?

John: If one of the color toner cartridges is empty you can print in grayscale mode using the instructions at the link I provided above. If the black toner cartridge is empty it will need to be replaced before you can continue printing.
Scott: Thanks John. But I need color urgently. Is there truly no way to override this? The cartridges are NOT EMPTY!
John: No, there''s not a way to override the error message.
Scott: John, may I speak with your supervisor or manager, because I will suffer greatly if I cannot print my paper by tomorrow morning.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/SOLUTION
I found a solution that worked. Go to EBay and search for "flag gear" for your particular printer. I paid 13 dollars for a set of four flag gears. They are fairly simple to attach to the side of the cartridges and will allow you to continue printing as if you have new cartridges. I have already printed an entire additional ream of paper (albeit not demanding much ink). So Happy It Worked! Buy the printer, but also buy a set of flag gears so you can reset cartridges. I won''t change my rating though, as I feel this practice is still not acceptable (not transparent).
