Purchased this product a week ago. Install was simple and easy and worked wireless and USB just fine. Scan worked very well--quite fast either wireless or USB...HOWEVER...

A day or so later the communication between print and computer through new HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax network would stop and require computer reboot to re-enable. Obviously this was unacceptable so I called HP to get resolved. To date I have been on phone with them for over 12 hours! During their first attempt to repair they suggested an uninstall of printer and then reinstall. This process created a DLL error which they could not explain. I checked web and many other have had same issue after un-install of HP software. I fixed the problem by running CCLEANER and Glary Utilities which cleaned up all the left over mess that HP leaves after un-install.

To make matter worse the process rendered my other all-in-on printer HP 56000 useless. I went from a dependable 5600 and a less than ideal 6700 to not being able to print at all on either. The case was escalated to an "Case Manager" who spent more time telling me what they would not do than he did offering solution. He said the problem with my 5600 would not be supported because it was out of warranty--even though it worked fine before the new 6700 uninstall issue. Unbelievable!!

Next an "expert tech" call was scheduled where resolution was expected. Would you believe that there system was unable to connect to my computer and then their e-mail system was not allowing outbound emails to be sent so tech could not send work around link to connect. A tech company that can''t sent emails!

The tech went through another two hours of trying to make their software work and finally gave up and offered an upgraded model to be sent to me because he did not think the HP 6700 drivers would work--that there is an issue. His only other solutions was for me to reformat my hard drive and reinstall operating system and all program. Can you believe a software company can not fix there own software without having a user reformat computer and start from scratch. That is the most unreasonable suggestion I have ever heard!

To recap, the printer works, the software is a problem and the company should really consider learning what customer satisfaction means. It is no wonder they are considering "remaking themselves" and exiting the hardware space. They are failing in this area big time.

Over the course of the last 15-16 years, I have seen a *lot* of printers. It typically takes the geek in the family to setup a printer, be it a simple home printer connected to a single computer; or a network printer.

From what I have seen while setting up the 6700 printer it practically set itself up :) I installed the cartridges by looking at the on-board touch screen on the printer. Kept papers in the tray. From my computer, configured the printer to enable it wirelessly. And did the first job "scanning 15 pages through automatic feeder". In about 1-2 minutes, it scanned all the pages, collated all of the 15 page-scans into a single pdf and uploaded the pdf into my computer''s "My Documents" folder. *Never* have I seen such a task being done in such a seemless manner. Kudos to HP. Will definitely recommend it. [Note: I just started using the product, so take this reco with a pinch of salt].

I bought this HP Officejet 6700 about 3 weeks ago at Costco, and so far it''s doing a great job. I can print borderless copies and double sided copies to save 50% of paper. I printed a few pictures using photo paper and that also turned out great. I love printing wirelessly and this fits the bill perfectly. I also love printing from anywhere I happen to be, if I''m out and about and I need to print something, I just print it from my IOS device and it''s waiting for me when I get home. I LOVE THAT! I''m using a Mac Pro running Lion and a Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion. I also print from my IPad 3 and iPhone. I downloaded a couple of free HP printer apps from apple''s app store for my IPad 3 and iPhone like, HP ePRINT, and HP eSupplies, both work great. So far so good, if it goes down hill I will adjust my review accordingly. Thanks for reading.

This printer just got better! The FREE App which is called HP ePRINT from the Apple App store now let''s you print from anywhere, it has a drop down menu to show you places where you can print when your out and about and you need to make copies of something. I have a list of places in my area like FedEx Office, UPS, Hotels, and Walmart so you can go there and wirelessly make copies of what you need on the go. It also has a map of all the places so you know exactly where they are and their phone number. Great new features. AWESOME PRODUCT JUST GOT BETTER!

First, it jammed twice during the printer self-initialization, where it prints out the alignment paper. Plus, the self-initialization took about 15 minutes (or at least felt that long). Well, if the initialization and alignment takes that long, it must be an awesome, super precise piece of equipment.

The printer really wanted me to set up an ePrint account. I enabled ePrint, and then the printer offered to print out instructions for creating an account, and requires the printer''s secret passcode in order to link my account to the printer. I hit "OK," to print out the instructions, and it only prints half the page, cutting off the printer''s passcode. Went through the menus and figured out how to print out the instructions again, and still, only half a page. Whatever, I know where the passcode is by navigating the printer''s menus. So I set up an account on HP''s eprint web site. It said "Success! A confirmation email has been sent." I go to check, nothing. I wait 5 minutes, 10 minutes. Nothing in my spam folder or anything. Oh well, I try to log in and it says "403 forbidden". After a few times I figure maybe I made a mistake with my password. I tried "Forgot password." It asks for my email, and after I submit, again I get "403 Forbidden." I tried to create another account, but then it says, "Error, that email address is already taken."

12 hours later, I get an email in my inbox: "Thank you for registering with HP, blah blah blah." Followed by several emails saying, "Your request to update/reset your password blah blah blah."

Now on to the false advertising portion of the review:

The product description says, "scan documents to a PC or e-mail." In fact, it does not scan to email. It just doesn''t. The marketing guy must have not read the printer manual. Oops. Seriously, if you figure it out, please include a review showing how.

I tried to call tech support. The website says, "Tech support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for most products." Somewhat hopeful, I call, struggle through their voice recognition menu thing. "Printer... PRRIIIINNNNTTTTEERRRRR... Officejet... OFFFICCCEEEJEEEETTTT. OFFICEJET!!!!! Macintosh... MAAAACCCCCIIINNNNNNTTTTOOOOSSSHHHHH" and it politely says, "Please call back during business hours Monday through Friday." Oh well, I guess people on Macs using Officejets is such a rare situation that it doesn''t qualify for HP to have *someone* somewhere in the world that can answer questions. It really does require extra special training and there are so few experts in the world that HP can only afford to have them available during business hours M-F.

As noted by another reviewer, the marketing also claims, "Print borderless marketing materials and business-quality photos and print affordably with automatic two-sided printing." The catch is that it cannot do two-sided borderless printing. Wow. I didn''t know you''d have to be a lawyer to appreciate the nuances in the marking material.

The "embedded web server" is kind of cool, but kind of busted. Basically, the printer has its own web server that you can use to do configuration, fax, scanning, etc. I tried it, and got a pdf consisting of six blank pages. To double check that I didn''t do something dumb like put the paper in upside down, I scanned again, but using the "Scan to computer" function on the printer itself, and it worked. I didn''t have time to debug why it didn''t work with their web server interface.

Overall, not a good experience.

I bought two of these machines for use at my office and at home. I specifically needed a networkable printer so that my kids could print homework from their laptops and other desktops could use the printer. What Canon hides extremely well is that this model does NOT scan to or from a network: it prints on a network but it will not scan on one. So, if you set this up to allow printing by several machines no-one can scan to it or from it; the scanner is just disabled. The scanner will only work when the machine is connected to one (and one only)computer. So, you can scan/print to one machine or print on a network but not both. It is almost beyond comprehension to me that a reputable company like Canon would do something this stupid. Save the box because you won''t know about the limitations of this printer until you have installed the drivers and set the whole thing up. Otherwise the printer appears solid and the software short and well designed.

The D1100 series is a replacement for the aging MF6500 series. We bought four new D1120''s for several small office locations, with different people using them. The first month or so they all worked fine. Then the problems began...and just continue on. Document feeders stop feeding. Paper jams that are impossible to fix. Document feed stops working. Flimsy door hinges that break. Document feeder stops working. Unknown "check document" errors. Did I mention the document feeders stop working? All four machines just keep crapping out. I send them to the repair shop, and wait weeks to get them back. Once they are out of warranty, I''m going to just trash them, because I''m not going to keep paying for repairs.

Please, Canon, go back to the MF6540. They were real workhorses, and when they had problems, those problems were easy to fix. The D1120 is a nightmare that won''t stop.

I''m very disappointed in this machine. If you only need a printer/copier or have it directly attached to your computer with a usb cable then it presumably works as advertised. It prints envelopes easily and was simple to set up until I tried to scan something.

In my effort to go as paperless as possible, several weeks after the printer arrived, I went to scan something. It didn''t work and the instruction manual was not clear at all. I called Canon and was told that this machine was the "bottom of the line" and did not have the capability I asked for. If I wanted to scan from a network (I do only because the physical distance between my computer and the printer means using an ethernet cable rather than usb to connect) I should have bought one of the other higher end models.

I may have missed something but I don''t see that important information anywhere in the product description or on the packaging that it arrived in.

The tech suggested that I put my computer on a cart and wheel it over to the printer when I wanted to scan. REALLY! After some time on the phone and several levels of support I was offered a print buffer device that once installed will allow me to scan but only if I use a pc. Of course I mainly use a mac. I can''t say if the device works because I have not yet been able to get the installation instructions and set it up. I had to hang up after extended hold times waiting for a Canon rep.

We used older Canon model for about 6 years and were very happy with its performance. Then the top scanner broke, so we looked for a newer model from Canon it suits perfectly a small private practice. It scans, copies, faxes, interacts with networks, you name it... Now if only more retailers had ink supply, that would be the end of the problems. Yes, the ink is expensive, but check the load -number of copies it can produce! It''s worth all of it. So if you''re looking for a reliable multitasking office copier, don''t go any further. I strongly recommend. Oh, by the way, we''re still using the old machine for printing jobs only.

It scans very quickly when it works properly. The automatic document feeder jams most of the time. Occasionally, the communication between computer and printer hangs up. I''ve also had problems with printing. It has given me a false paper jam reading on several occasions. We purchased two. Both of them have the same problems. Their support has been nonexistent. Canon has lost my confidence in their products. I will go back to HP printers. They cost more but have always worked flawlessly.

After switching to Vista, we couldn''t get working drivers for our old printer and scanner. We first tried an HP all-in-one, but it had multiple paper jams from the get-go. So we tried the Canon. So, I can''t complain about Canon and their warranty claiming process no hassle at all!

Also, you can control the sound of the printer by going into the printer properties and telling it to remain quiet all the time (or you can tell it print quietly at certain times). I am not really clear why someone would LOVE to have a noisy printer (it actually startled me the first time I heard it), but when I told it to "be quiet", the noise wasn''t too bad.

I''ve had this printer for coming up on two years, and it is a decent printer that was worth what I paid from Best Buy with my laptop, but not worth the current $150 price tag on here. I don''t recall it being very difficult to set up with the software, and mechanically it is not complicated. It is easy to use from either your computer or the printer itself, where it has a dedicated "scan" button and "black" and "color" buttons for copying. It did take me a couple minutes when I first started using it to realize that "duplex" printing meant double-sided. The print quality is decent. For black and white and basic color it''s fine; if you want to print photos, which I have done plenty of for flash cards, the quality is, again, decent. It doesn''t look wonderful, but it''s adequate. If you''re looking to print photos you can proudly display, look elsewhere. The print speed, once it gets going, is pretty good. However, you have to wait generally around 30-45 seconds before it will actually print anything, because it always decides that it wants to do whatever it''s doing making a bunch of noise for a while after you click the "print" button before it''ll actually start printing. If you''re looking for a quiet printer, definitely look elsewhere. It''s loud both in this pre-print ritual and when it is printing. Finally, the ink consumption is awful. Really, this thing drains ink like there''s no tomorrow, so be prepared to be purchasing more cartridges often if you print a lot. The good thing is that it doesn''t have dedicated color cartridges like some printers; it just has a single black and a single color cartridge.

Bottom line: if the price is still $150 here, don''t buy it. It is not worth it. If you see it somewhere else cheap (seems to me like mine was $30 or so with my laptop at Best Buy) and don''t mind the issues stated above, go ahead. For basic printing purposes it is really a pretty decent printer.

This is a very well built printer, I absolutely love it. I have scanned THOUSANDS of 3x5 and 4x6 pictures for my mom and her friends on this scanner. I have would then easily put them on a dvd. This scanner could scan 4 at a time. Such a time saver. I haven''t had an problems with this printer, which is rare with printers. The only negative is that it is loud, that''s why I call it a monster.

Bought this printer to use while deployed out of the US. I just needed a basic printer that would last me a year. I find the print quality to be better than I expected it to be and it can churn it out pretty quickly if you put it on the low quality setting. It is also very quiet. Don''t know if it will stay that way but so far so good. One bad thing: it sucks down those black ink cartridges faster than you would think it would. For someone just needing a basic printer though with good print quality this should fit the bill.

I needed an affordable compact printer for a dorm room, and this fit the bill. The print quality is very nice, I find it to have a good print speed. I haven''t had any problems with it like I have seen other reviewers complaining about, and I don''t foresee any. I''d recommend this for someone that just wants something that prints with nothing fancy.

I ordered several of these for the school at which I work. The printer is nothing fancy, but it is very inexpensive and "just works." It does not come with a black ink cartridge, but it can still print black by mixing ink from the color cartridge (though it resembles a very very dark brown rather than black).

I consider this a feature -if the black ink runs out (once you purchase a black cartridge), the printer is still fully functional even if the black ink cartridge runs out.

Amazon had by far the best price on this printer (never underestimate the value of free shipping!) and their service has always been top-notch.

Rated 5 stars, taking into account the low cost of this basic printer.

The printer got to me very quickly, even with free shipping, and as others have said there''s not a USB cable or a black cartridge in the box, but what can one expect for $40?

The install took a long time, and while installing it I began to notice some of the not so nice features. First, doing the recommended install, it puts three icons on your desktop. That''s a bit much. Second, the install takes a over a common feature of the web browser. I found that when I went to copy something to paste it into another window, the copy function had sort of been taken over by the printer so that I could directly print what I had just highlighted. That doesn''t sound that annoying, but several of the other common functions were taken away. It is, though, an easily fixable problem as you can deselect this function right away. Third, at the end of the install comes product registration. Not a big deal, typing in all my info, and as I''m about to hit send I decide to check out HP''s privacy policy. I HATE spam. So I click on FAQ and on the second link, the one about their privacy policy. How interesting: it''s a dead link. Yeah, don''t think I''ll be sending them any information.

But last and most importantly was an incredibly godawfully annoying thing. I hook the printer up, print out a couple things, and I unplug the printer. I''m going to keep it on a counter out of the way and not hooked up to my laptop all the time. Well, the computer starts going ape. It''s sending me an alert every five seconds along with an error tone and I''m trying to hit the close the windows and tell the computer that I know the printer is disconnected and just leave me alone and nothing works. Everytime I open the start menu, the alert comes back on and closes the start menu. This goes on for 10 minutes. Finally I just restart the whole machine.

I suppose I could have gone through the whole remove hardware procedure, but come on. What I wanted to do couldn''t have been that uncommon a thing, and having to restart a computer just because it''s unplugged from the printer is absurd. It was totally done printing, and I even turned it off and then unplugged it, and it freaks out. If I have to do this every time I use the thing, I''m not going to be happy.

All that said, it printed reasonably quickly and the images are crisp.

The package has the black ink cartridge not included. Sort of a trick which I don''t care for. Otherwise, the printer in OK.

I have had the printer for 3 years and have not had to change the toner yet. I do use it for home business only, this printer is pretty heavy and takes up a lot of space for home use.

The printer driver settings are easy to use, but the menu options on the printer itself are hard to navigate and save.

If you do consider this printer, buy additional memory for it, because the 8MB internal memory is not enough for many jobs, and is quite slow. 64MB will be plenty for about 40 bucks more.

This is an awesome printer for the price I paid. The other reviews that I have seen ignore a few things about this printer. First off, any wide format printer is going to use a lot of ink. Find the ink kits and learn how to refill your cartridges. It''ll save you a ton of money. The cartridges may be small, compared to some other printers, but they are quite refillable, much more so than the larger HP cartridges I have used in the past. The printer manufacturers don''t want you to know about that. I know as I have been refilling the same cartridges this printer uses for 2 years already. Having had experience with my HP Deskjet 5550, I have only purchased one extra cartridge in the last 2 years. I finally wore out the #57 Tricolor cartridge. This printer comes with all 3 of them. My 5550 only came with 2.

Secondly. if you use the maximum dpi setting, the printer is slow. But I have found that the best setting is excellent, at 600 by 600 dpi, it takes about 5 minutes to do a 12 by 18 inch print. Unless you have a 14 megapixel camera. this print resolution is beyond your 5 megapixel camera to begin with. And, if you have a source that can generate a true 4800 dpi print, I have seen a review that states that it is worth the wait. I believe the claim.

Since I bought the printer, I have only been able to get my hands on 12 by 18 inch plain paper,(an artist''s sketch pad at Wal Mart). The results on this paper are stunning. I can''t wait to get a hold of some Super B 13 by 19 inch glossy. One of the reasons I prefer this type of printer over the likes of Canon and Epson, which both make printers of this type, is the ability to refill the cartridges. Don''t try it with theirs. Once you clog the print head, it''ll cost you more than the printers worth to replace it. The HP''s have the print head built into the cartridge, so if it ends up bad, you just need a new cartridge.The only reason I can think of not to buy this printer is if you don''t want to be bothered with refilling the cartridges. They can be refilled up to 18 or more times.

I picked this unit up as a factory recertified unit that came with the full 1 year warranty, for half the list price of the HP msrp. Just a guess on my part, but I think a lot of these were sent back due to issues with the XP drivers that had some flaws. I can''t find a disagreeable issue with this printer and I have had it for a week now and have printed a couple of dozen 12 by 18 inch prints, using both the new and my own refilled cartridges.

By the way, I also use Windows ME, like a reviewer below. But I won''t end up with the same issues of the ink warnings, because I know how to fool the printers cartridge memory. It can only remember 2 of the same carts, and it''s easy to find the info on how to reset the ink level indicators. As far as the scrapbooker below, he must not have set up this printer properly. The photo results are incredible,on plain paper, even with just the black and tricolor cartridges. I have used an HP 1220c also, and I can say that this printer is better on photos than the 1220c. However, each person has their own views, and also their own ways of trying things out. This printer has a lot of options. Be sure to check them out. The auto settings work very well, but you have to select things like the "Best" setting. You can custom establish your favorite settings as default in the toolbox. Otherwise it might do a fast draft print, which sounds like the corrugated cardboard complaint below.

So far, I highly recommend this one. I''ve always wanted a printer that I could frame a print and view it from across the room, or from the next room for that matter, and not need to walk over to figure out what it is a picture of. These prints are large enought to satisfy that desire, you won''t beleive the difference, compared to an 8.5 by 11.5 inch print.

Now, if I don''t run out of wall space and money for more frames a Wal Mart.........?

I probably have as much experience with 11x17 capable color printers as anyone in the world and I''ve got to say this is easily the most difficult and unsatisfactory printer I have ever dealt with. HP''s last 11x17 product (1220c) had amazing print quality, was faster, and lasted me for 3 solid years of heavy use. By contrast, the 9650 is MUCH slower for "best" print setting and MIND BOGGLINLY SLOW for its "maximum DPI" setting...try 35minutes for an 11x17 plot. Unacceptable. Not to mention that my printer is now broken and wont print at all.

I don''t normally buy HP printers but was looking for a speedy model for use in a work environment and was told this would be a good fit. First off, if there''s a slower printer on the market today I would be amazed. My 4 year old Epson 880 will print 3-4 pages per minute faster than this unit, and the prints look far better on the Epson. Have not found 13x19 paper so I cant say how this works. The ink cartridges run out too fast to be of any use. For the price there aren''t any good reasons to buy this unit. There has to be better large format printers out there, keep looking.

Ever since I opened the box to this printer, which I''ve had for a year, I''ve been overwhelmed with noise. It''s loud and shakes when printing. The printer is slow, uses too much ink, and doesn''t print photos on glossy paper well. I use this printer in my office to print drawings on 11 x 17 paper quite often. After one year, the text is printing at an angle, the feed takes more than one sheet of paper at a time, and the ink cartridges randomly get stuck at each side during printing and between pages. I spent the past 75 minutes on the phone with HP trying to get help for the printer''s problems and it was beyond frustrating. I''ve never had a problem with HP printers but this one kills their reputation for me. Oh yeah, and the laserjet 4101 doesn''t help improve it. Does anyone else miss the 1120C and 1220C? They were perfect. So much for the "upgrade".

This printer is the biggest piece of garbage I have ever owned! Every time I print, it sounds like all of the springs are about to explode out of the side of the thing. Half of the time it will just spit out a blank piece of paper. The rest of the time it grabs anywhere from 2-6 sheets and spits THEM out! I''ve reverted to using my old $100 722C for everything other than 11x17. What a joke!

I''m going to find another printer by epson or someone else and actually throw this one in the dumpster.

As with all printers, it would be a good idea to check the price of consumables before purchasing this printer. This printer (actually this print engine, as it is used in several other Brother models) has a lower cost than some other Brother units, but you will make it up over the life of the printer as you buy higher-priced toner and drum units. The toner and drum units for this printer cost more than those for other Brother models, and don''t last as long. Consider your printing needs and spend more upfront if you will be printing a lot.

As long as you expect this going into the purchase of this printer, it is a great unit. It works as advertised, and Brother has very good drivers under Mac OS X. For the money upfront, you can''t beat it. For the future cost of consumables, you may be able to find a better model for your needs.

I was looking for a high quality fax and stumbled upon Brother''s 5 in 1 Laser Multifunction Center. This is a great piece of equipment for anyone to have, even if you are just looking for a good laser printer. The quality is great and it prints very fast. The fax can store up to 400 pages in its memory if you are out of paper, and the images, when faxed, are all scanned into the memory before the fax dials up the number. This makes for an easy, smooth fax that creates no problems.

I have yet to run into a jamming problem with the fax or the printer. The scanning capabilities are great as well, scanning the image exactly as it looks down to the detail, which some scanners are uncapable of doing. Of course it is a large file to copy so perfectly, but that can always be reduced to a more manageable size. The only downside to the scanning capabilities is that it is not a flat bed, so you won''t be able to take noncomforming shapes, such as IDs and so on and scan them. But that is a small price to pay for a great scanner.

All in all, the Brother MFC-7220 Laser Multifunction Printer has met all of my expectations and more. Buy it for the printer, which is exceptional, and you will get so much more.

I bought an MFC-7220 for my father who wanted to be able to screen incoming faxes on his computer before they were printed out and fax documents from his computer. This does both and more very well.

My impression of some of the features:

Build quality very good.

Print quality very good considering the price and variety of functions the machine has.

Ease of use although the documentation wasn''t the best (which seems to be common among Japanese multifunctions), it was relatively easy to set up and figure out how to do everything. Operation is simple. The software that runs the PC sending and receiving is very easy to understand and run.

Size nice and compact, and controls aren''t crowded.

This is the second Brother machine I''ve bought (the other was a simple laser printer) and I they seem to be really doing things right.

The product itself is decent and prints well, but jams when you try to print envelopes. Or, if it doesn''t jam, the envelopes come out looking crooked. I called tech support twice, and first they told me that they can''t help me because it''s not their problem that it''s printing crooked, but a problem with the software...That, of course, wasn''t true because I was using Word, which is good with envelopes. The next time I called they told me that the envelopes I am using are too thick, which is also total garbage because I was using the most standard #10 envelopes in the world! They were just totally unhelpful!

If you don''t plan on printing envelopes, or calling tech support, it''s a very nice machine.

I bought this item through Amazon about 18 months ago. It worked fine, UNTIL the toner cartridge ran out. I bought a Brother toner replacement cartridge, which cost about $100. And guess what? The machine continues to give me toner cartrdige error messages, and I can''t print a thing out. The Brother websites troubleshooting instructions are virtually useless, telling you that if their instructions don''t work, buy another cartridge. Really? How many of us have a hundred here or there to sink into cartridges for this machine?

Very frustrating, and a very blase attitude regarding troubleshooting. I will look for a replacement from a company with a better commitment to quality and customer service.
