3 of these in my family with no Problems. You can plug the printer into your router and have a network printer. The printer is a little noisy. It does have a power surge on booting up. First of all, I also have a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC, and I will be comparing this Canon with my experience with the Fujitsu.

Both scanners have a nice small footprint and can scan a variety of paper sizes (although not large), including business cards. Both scanners do a very fast job at scanning the documents (duplex, in one pass woohoo!).

What does separate these scanners from each other is the software. The Fujitsu comes with its own snapscan software coupled with Adobe Acrobat (standard version). This allows for a pretty standard setup with a large range of compatibility and support. The Canon comes with a 3rd party suite of software from Nuance. The pdf pro software is good and also has a wide range of options, maybe even more than the Adobe software. However, the Fujitsu snapscan software is just more user friendly and seems much easier to use. I have an easier time getting documents into and organized with the SnapScan software than I did with Canon''s software. Again not a severe difference, but a little easier for sure ....

Overall, both scanners are very, very capable, but the software really seems to be the defining difference. Either of these scanners can do a great job of digitizing your life, and do it with accurate OCR software at incredible speeds. Both scanners can handle roughly the same capacity and page sizes. I have not "raced" them both side by side, but both scan at incredible speeds and create great looking images.

Again, the main difference is the software that comes with it. Both are very capable, but the SnapScan just seems a little easier to use, with a little more polished integration.

Bottom line: if you can get both at the same price, I might go with the Fujitsu, but if you can get the Canon at 50 bucks or more off, go that route. Either way, you will have a very good scanner to help you digitize your life and toss your file cabinets. Not to mention the ease of sharing documents with others and being able to find documents with a simple text search. Once you have the experience of finding a document that you need that way you will never want to go back. These scanners are simply awesome and the Canon delivers alongside the Fujitsu.

** One of the comments listed on this review pointed out a very good issue: Unlike the Fujitsu, (which has a scanner and software made separately for mac and pc) the Canon has software that can work with PC and MAC at the same time. So if you have a "mixed" environment, then the Canon may win on this fact. That is a huge bonus .... Thanks!

I''ve been using the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC in my office for years, and while I think it is an exceptional work scanner, I was glad to be given the opportunity to compare it with the Canon imageFORMULA DR-C125. Other than the ScanSnap, I haven''t come across any other scanners that excel at office-friendly, mostly pdf, letter-sized document scanning.

PROS

Very small footprint. This scanner will easily fit on your desk and takes up a small amount of room.

Optional U-Turn paper path. The scanner can be set to feed paper in a "U" design so it feeds back up instead of straight ahead. This is definitely an advantage over the ScanSnap, which allows you to fold up the front feeder, but then which requires that you leave 11" of room in front of the scanner for the paper to eject. This is one of the best features for me.

One touch scanning. A lot of scanners have 5 or 6 buttons on them to use for different functions, but this scanner, like the Fujitsu has a one touch that will output directly to PDF. I don''t have to spend a lot of time setting up options or opening up third party software, and it functions great using the buttons directly from the scanner.

Very fast. Only slightly slower (less than a second per page) than the ScanSnap. This scanner processes documents faster than any flatbed I''ve used and faster even than my huge Kyocera TasAlfa commercial copier/scanner. If you have a ten page document, you can simply put it in the feeder, press the button, and it will scan and convert to PDF in around 10 seconds.

Duplex scanning. Works great. No need to feed the paper in both directions, and the scanner doesn''t have to feed the paper one way, then pull it out and feed it the other way. It makes one pass and detects if it is a two-sided paper. Sometimes it works a little too well, as it will scan a single sheet of paper as duplex if there is really heavy ink on one side that it can see through the opposite side. But this isn''t a big issue.

TWAIN driver. The ScanSnap doesn''t come with a TWAIN driver, and you must have the CD or software to install. You can''t download it from Fujitsu''s web site and must e-mail them for an FTP link if you lose the disc. The Canon does have a TWAIN driver which is great for more advanced users.

CONS

Poor OCR. I had more errors with the Optical Character Recognition software than I do with the ABBYY OCR software that comes with the ScanSnap.

After 6 months of fairly heavy use, the rollers on the automatic feeder seem to be getting a little more worn, and I have noticed I occasionally will get jams due to the feeder pulling multiple sheets through at once. This usually happens with documents that are a little older and the paper might not be as crisp. But I have definitely noticed it more now than when I first got the scanner.

Overall I think the DR-C125 is an excellent scanner. If I had to make a choice between the Fujitsu ScanSnap and this model, I would probably go with the DR-C125 due to my cluttered desk and the U-Turn paper feeding, but really it would be a very difficult choice to make and I don''t think you can go wrong with either of them.

I''ve had many scanners in the past; all had compromises. But with this smart piece of engineering, my search is over. At work, we''re using very expensive Fujitsu document scanners for electronic document archiving. These scanners are quite good, but their software is less than stellar. I stumbled upon the Canon DR C125 after reading a review on the Financial Times, so I decided to give it a go for under $500. One week later, I have the highest regards for those who engineered it:

I nervously upgraded from the DR-2080C (USB/SCSI Interface) to the DR C125. Nervously, because I expected it to be made in China and to have the same problems as the DR-2080C. Its made in Japan (means assembled in Japan from Japanese and foreign parts) AND solved all the annoying problems of the DR-2080C (e.g. constant multiple sheet feed errors).

I use this in home and home office applications to back up documentation to Adobe PDF format. Though, happily, many organizations now post bills etc in PDF online, this is still my workhorse for unavailable PDF. My usage is light-medium compared to a muti-person office. 90% B&W 400 dpi, some color.

I use the supplied software. If I need any real manipulation of the PDF output after the scan, I use Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you are in the paperless office mentality, Acrobat or an equivalent are a basic necessity.

Some of the plastic parts and overall feel seem cheap and might break in the future. But that is what I thought of the DR-2080C and it has had no failures in 8 years. The "consumable" rollers on the older unit lasted the life of the machine. We will have to see how these rollers do.

Agree with the positive reviews. I can now "set it and forget it" on large scans.

For me there are currently no "cons".

TIPS: A) You can now save your settings!! There are two places 1) User preferences Backup/Restore [under Advanced setting box]. Creates a ".dat" file 2) Tray>Icon>Environmental Settings>Basic Settings>Backup/Restore. Creates a ".cot" file. Not sure of the difference but I assume .cot saves everything.

B) To scan long documents you go to Windows Start>Canon DR-C125>Canon ImageFormula Utility>Properties>Maintenance. Long documents trigger a paper jam message if not set.

C) Also under the B location is the number of scans on the roller set.

Let me start by saying I own several document scanners, including the darling-of-the-industry ScanSnap s1500. This scanner is without-a-doubt on par with the best.

Here''s what stands out:

Fast scanning (FASTER than the reported ppm )

Small footprint (smaller than ScanSnap, and in my opinion, better-looking)

Long Document Mode (up to 118") this is great for those credit card bills,etc. that are four-fold. My ScanSnap always stops towards the end of these so I just end up cutting off the rest)

Has a straight paper-path for thicker documents, which comes in handy for things like cards, etc.

All in all, I really do love this scanner. I''m not sure it will be my go-to scanner because I''ve been using the ScanSnap for so long but I wouldn''t hesitate to make it #1 if my ScanSnap died. Right now this unit is on my secondary computer and the whole family is getting plenty of use on it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I had HIGH hopes for this machine but so disappointed now...

It looked great, all matte black, square looks, clean line, nice "looking" LCD touch panel, $5 black cartridge.

I purchase this locally in Vancouver and had to exchange several times to get a working one. On initial purchase, the printer would turn on but never finish the boot cycle so I exchange it for another one. After the exchange, the second would not even turn on, exchange again. The third one finally worked but after using the product, I returned it. The printer menu was slow, hard to setup. Download additional printer apps was tedious. Even basic function required separate app to make it friendly to use. Also the WebUI was slow and unresponsive at most time during configuration. Their tech support was literally useless since the first two printer could not even turn on correctly.

Using Mac OS X 10.6.8

The computer software was buggy. The printer drivers seems OK but the firmware update was a POS. It could not update the firmware either thru USB or WiFi or LAN. I had to use a PC to update the firmware

Using iPhone or iPad

First you need to download the app "Lexprint" for printer thru iPhone or iPad. Second, the app will only print pictures or webpages. This is not how Airprint should. It does NOT allow printing from PDF or e-mail....very limiting

Honestly, I support Mac & PC at work and it took me over 2 days to configure this printer properly..two thumbs down!!!

Additionally, this was suppose to replace the Pro905 which had a five year warranty...why does the Pro915 only have one year warranty??

I bought a HP 8500A Plus...setup (networking and setting up send to e-mail SMTP) was done after 15 min.

I bought one of these because we had them at work. Then when the ones at work started to go down and lexmark wanted me to tell them what was wrong with them I told them forget it and had them all removed and trashed they were replaced by anything that wasn''t made by Lexmark. So on to the one at home. It kept losing the connection on my network and would take years to boot up I would have to spend three hours every time I wanted to print something setting it back up again and today it finally lost it all. It read that all of my cartridges were empty then it said it would not communicate with the cartridges. I tried a couple of new ones and still no luck. Their technical support is non existent because they are closed and even when they are open you get someone who can barely speak english and reads from a script. So after finally being done with it i smashed it into as many bits as I could and sent it to rot in the dump. I will never buy another one of their products ever again. Thanks lexmark for wasting my money and time.

I was really hoping that after a year or so...Lexmark would have addressed their massive QA issues lately. Trust me folks, as of this writing, trust the BAD reviews far more than the good ones. I have been fighting with this thing for two days...NOTHING works right on it. The software is a total mess, freezes all the time AFTER all the firmware and drive updates (come on Lexmark, after a year you can''t even update your drivers in the box?). Had to try to set up 3 times before it worked. I STILL can get the wireless to work. This is all with OSX and airports...NO EXCUSE Lexmark...this is just terrible, crappy software all the way around.

The printer itself seems ok...but its worthless since I can''t actually get it to do anything.

Their problems extend to their smart app website...which works maybe 10% of the time...the rest of the time everything just times out there.

DO NOT BUY this if you want your sanity. There is NO EXCUSE Lexmark for this printer and software to STILL be this terrible out of the box.

Mine is going back in the box and back to amazon...Lexmark owes me quite a lot of wasted time messing around with this POC...

This printer has good quality print, is fast and convenient. It does everything I''d like when it works, and for that, I would have given it four stars. It''s certainly better than the Epson CX4800 I traded it for. But it has numerous annoying little problems. It''s installed on my network by direct connection to my router via an Ethernet cable. Every now and then, the screen goes blank and can''t be revived. It says "entering sleep mode" for 5 or 10 minutes, but continues to allow printing. Online chat told me to shut the printer off and remove the power module, then turn it back on. That solved the problem, but when it happened again, they told me the same thing. Obviously, doing a cold restart every time the printer locks up isn''t a solution for a network printer that may be some distance from the computer issuing the print command. A second call told me to download and install the latest firmware. I did that, and now the printer never enters "sleep" mode, even overnight, although it''s set to enter sleep mode after 10 minutes. I''m convinced there are bugs in the software. I wouldn''t buy this printer again.

I am not very pleased with this printer. The paper always jams , when it prints the paper does not eject smoothly and gets hung up close to the front causing paper jams . When I put an SD card in the printer to export photos to my computer some of them always get messed up , distorted - they never all export and save properly

The touch screen sucks too , we don''t need these stupid touch screens on everything , I would prefer the old fashioned buttons

I had a lot of printers over the years . This model is not an improvement over previous Lexmark models.

You should consider other choices before buying this printer. It has been troublesome for me.

After about five months of light use, the message "Cover open" would appear on the computer monitor screen, accompanied by flashing lights on the printer. The printer would not print when this occurred until I lifted the top cover and closed it again. The message would appear fairly often, sometimes every two or three minutes. Other times it would go a day or two without the problem occurring. I eventually called HP support and spent about an hour on the phone two separate times to try to solve the problem. Most of the time I was on hold. Both times I had to wait about twenty minutes to acually talk to a technician. I use the word "technician" loosly the technician spent most of his or her time reading scripts about what I should try next.

When the replacement (refurbished) printer arrived, it was a bare-bones replacement it did not come with a printhead, cartridges, or a back access cover. I had to transfer those from the old printer. When I did that, and tried the new printer, I got the same message, "cover open." But I now had a clue, and after a little fiddling around, I discovered that if I pressed inward on the back access cover, the light went out, so I studied the back cover, did a little bending on a fairly fragile-looking contact spring, and, lo and behold, the flashing lights and error message went off and stayed off. I kept my old printer, which also worked with the modified back cover, and sent the refurbished replacement back to HP. So far I have had no more trouble with the printer. I don''t know why the error message doesn''t tell you what cover is open or why the technicians didn''t pursue that avenue in asking me to try various things?????

So here''s my summary review of the printer:

PROS

Does a good job printing. It''s better than the four-old wide-format Canon that it replaced, but printers in general have gotten much better in four years.

It doesn''t mis-feed very often, but when it does, un-jamming is a real hastle.

CONS

HP techical support is very poor in my opinion. I tried on-line FAQ''s and the HP forum before using the phone.

Ink cartridges are very expensive. A complete set of HP high-capacity repacement cartridges costs about $115.

It shakes the table when printing.

You might want to look at other choices although the price of the HP seems to be the lowest for printers of this type.

Odd, I thought I already gave this a 1 star review, but it seems to have gone away. Oh well, I hate this printer enough to warrant writing this again. We have gone through two in our main office, and the one in our remote office has been terrible too. The first suffered from mechanical problems from almost day one, even with only moderate use. It would misfeed as many as 15(!) pages at once. Swabbing the rollers with alcohol temporarily alleviated this, but hardly something you should need to do on an almost weekly basis.

As for driver issues, all 3 have suffered from these... such as, printing totally blank sheets, cutting off margins, etc. After a lot of trial and error and conversations with HP support, we found that using a deskjet 990c driver (of all things) at least fixed the blank page issue, but many issues with document margins being cut off (that looked fine in Print Preview) remain. Granted, this review probably doesn''t do much good since this model has largely been pulled off the market by HP (with good reason)... if I was of a litigious bent, I''d be tempted to see about starting a class action against HP for everyone who bought this model--Instead, I''ll just steer away from ever using HP in an office environment again.

For what it''s worth, my HP 1020 B&W laserjet at home has been fantastic (still on it''s starter toner cartridge after 3 years of light use). However, if the K8600 is any indication of where HP''s quality has headed... I''ll be very reluctant to look to them for a replacement if my 1020 dies.

Like previous reviewer, I am using it for printing on 11x17. It has been close to two years. Aside from a few paper jams and replacing ink (the unit uses more ink than I expected), I did not do anything else to it. It has already paid for itself considering the undr $200 cost, two years ago.

I got this to replace an HP 1220 large format printer that HP had decided to not support in Windows 7. The 1220 printer would still print, but in Windows 7 was no longer capable of printing booklets, duplex or large format.

Thinking the HP 8600 would do the job (it advertised booklet and large format printing), and since it was supported in Windows 7, I bought it.

But, it was a big disappointment. It would not print booklet format in any page size larger than 5 by 7...it would print on any size paper, but only 5 by 7 inches if in booklet mode. The settings would say that it was printing four 8 by 10 inch pages on 11 by 17 inch paper, and the preview would show it correctly, but would only be 5 by 7 when actually printed. It also would scale any large format print to the paper margins, even if borderless was selected, making my scaled drawings useless. I never was able to figure out a way to print my drawings full scale without some shrinking by the printer. Never had that problem with the 1220.

I solved my printing problems by resurrecting an old XP computer, and using it with the HP 1220 for the large prints and the booklets.

The final straw was when the 8600 started dribbling black ink all over the table and the floor. It proved to be a crack in the carriage (not a leak in the print head or the cartridge) and unrepairable without costing as much as a new printer. So after only two years, it went in the garbage.

I replaced it with a Canon iX7000, and that has proved to be everything I want from a printer. See my review with that printer if interested.

The HP 8600 was (actually now IS) junk.

We are a company who has several color inkjet printers. It gets to be such a hassle when you have to stock so many different ink cartridges, so we have tried to centralize on models that take the same ink cartridge. We had one of our printers die and we were looking high and low for a printer that would still take an 88 color cartridge. We found this one on Amazon.com and we are very happy with it.

There are no drivers for the Canon CD-200 for XP users. Here is a work-around.

Resize any .jpg image on your computer to less than 1 meg. Rotate the picture to landscape mode. Save the picture to a compact flash card. (The file size should be less than 400k).

Place the compact flash card into the CD-200 CF card slot and make sure that the button on the top of the printer is moved to the "CF Card" position. With the printer on, press the "Auto Print" switch.

This will also work with multiple images that are saved to the card, and will print every image, automatically.

It is not necessary to use a printer cable or monitor. just plug the printer into a power source.

Finally, a solution... Now I''ll start to stock up on paper... again. :)

I needed a cheap printer to replace my old one. I purchased this printer from Sams Club for under $30. This is about as basic a printer one can get these days. Took about 5 minutes to setup, and another minute to download the Linux drivers. The printer prints in color, and works fine. I''ll update this after a few months. It will be interesting to see if the printer lasts longer than the ink.

Few notes: It has no frills at all. No card readers, no lcd display, no wireless, nothing. Just a place to plug in the power and a place for plug in the usb cable. The output tray does not fold away.

Edit:

Dropped to 2 stars. The printer lasted about six months then refused to print. Changed the ink carts and still no printing.

This printer is not a top-of-the-line photo printer, it''s not a high speed office printer. It is simply a color inkjet printer.

The Ink:

The printer uses 3 color cartridges and one black. You can use the low capacity 88 cartridges or the high capacity 69 cartridges. It''s not Epson''s cheapest ink. Again, this printer isn''t built for volume.

The Printouts:

Text is very sharp and very black unlike some past Epsons I''ve dealt with. Text down to size 8 is clearly readable at a distance.

For occasional photos, this printer has no trouble competing with photo printers. Small details are very clear and the color is true... however, photos take FOREVER to print.

Now, all the good aside, this printer is loud and slow. It has no features and it costs almost nothing. Despite the lack of features and the bottom-dollar cost, the quality competes with more expensive printers.

This printer is great if you need something to take to college or for your child''s computer. It is an Epson so running it out of ink will damage the printer, so will unplugging it while the green indicator is flashing. But with a little knowledge of printers, it''s not hard to take care of one.

I give this printer 5 stars because it fills a good niche -a decent printer that you won''t cry when your drunken roomate steps on, or your kids fill with play-doh.

UPDATE: December 2011

Printer is still going strong. I''ve been through several black ink cartridges as I printed a few reams of information on a paper I had to write -no complaints whatsoever. It''s really not that slow when you''re just printing documents.

Only down side -no Windows 2000 driver so I can only use it with the newer computers (win XP & up) not a big deal because I only have one win2k box. Also, Linux support is crap -all default settings work, but if you change anything it just crashes.

UPDATE: April 2012:

I''m happy to report it still works great! I''ve been through several sets of ink cartridges, it really eats the 88''s, the 69''s have a higher capacity so I think that''s what I''m going to buy next time.

It still does a really great job. This was a great buy, I still have one unboxed in my basement incase this one ever fails -but it doesn''t look like that will be necessary. I love this little printer. And to think it was only $30!!!

Bought this poor excuse for a printr from Sam''s Club about a year ago and, at first, was impressed... UNTIL it began devouring ink! I heartily agree with ALL the other negative reviews. The one thing that REALLY chaps me is that, over time, each cartridge ''clogs'' and you have to go through the cleaning cycle for ALL cartridges (of course same thing when you have to replace a cartridge). More than once I had to go through the head cleaning cycle 2-3 times to unclog the problem cartridge head and, while doing so deplete the other cartridges. One reviewer was absolutely correct that it is an outright SCAM for Epson to engineer in such a voracious appetite for ink! And, outrageously priced ink at that!!

Another peeve is their customer support (or glaring lack thereof). I had a question about handling different size paper/envelopes... and, of course, you guessed it, got some swami overseas that spoke so soft and fast with such a thick accent I could NOT understand at all what he was trying to say. Other than what is on a prepared ''script'' tech support personnel have absolutely no idea about the finer workings of their product(s).

Like others, I have had it with Epson... will NOT purchase or recommend ANY Epson product.

Anyone even remotely considering the possibility of buying this printer (or any product from Epson) must be aware of one thing, something that I personally wasn''t aware of before buying this it is that Epson does not care about you, the customer, or your needs in any capacity.

While this may sound like an outlandish statement, I would hate for you to purchase this product and have to find out for yourself. The printer while it will likely work initially after being set up devours ink, but there''s more. If even ONE of your four ink cartridges is empty, the printer will literally refuse to print anything for you, insisting that you buy more Epson ink which is not even close to being a fair price.

It really is a shame that a company would willingly resort to victimizing its customers in such away all in the name of turning another dollar. I''ve missed buses due to not being able to print tickets when my magenta is out and I only need black. I''ve missed essay due dates. And when you replace one empty ink cartridge, the process of nozzle cleaning will deplete another one, requiring you to buy more. It''s a scam. There is no other word for it it''s truly sad.

To Epson your printer caused me to miss my bus home for Christmas. I will boycott every product you ever release and encourage everyone else to do the same until your sorry, scam of a company is bankrupt.

Let me first say that I was a sales rep for Canon USA printers for a while, and I like to think I know a thing or two about today''s printers. Having said that, I picked this unit up because I needed to do some document printing and I needed it NOW! I picked up the cheapest thing they had at Best Buy and took it home.

I had absolutely no problem what ever unpacking this unit and got it up and running in 10 minutes on my Win7 PC. After about 6 months of use I have just about run out of ink and have had zero problems with it.

The reason I am writing the review is I came to Amazon to get a set of inks for it, and noticed the printer hadnt received the reviews I would have expected and I figured I would share my experience with it.

I realize that the ink is expensive and I havent done a cost per page comparison of this unit vs similar units, however, I believe the cost of operation of this unit is probably similar to any other brand of this type of printer; my experience is that the ink is always the thing that will cost you money when using an ink jet printer and it is simply a reality I am forced to deal with. I prefer an individual tank system like the one this printer has to an all in one cartridge as I dont need to replace the whole cartridge simply because one color is out.

I also have noticed that this unit doesnt "band" when left sitting for a while.

I recommend this unit at the price I paid for it, which was about 15$ less than the amazon price as it was on sale.

HP LaserJet 500 M525F Laser Multifunction Printer

We decided to purchase this copier for my wife''s small law office. We had an aging Ricoh Aficio 2035 that was rated at35 ppm. It has over 250,000 copies on it, and the repair bill to service it to restore to clear copies was $1,000 parts and labor. Parts alone was $400 for the photo drum and service kit bought in discount. All that to say this MFC Printer is replacing a Ricoh copier rated at 35ppm with a duty cycle of 80,000 copies a month. We have a consumer grade multifunction HP Color Copy/Print/Fax that is ok for light use that works OK. We also have a stand-alone monochrome laser printer, of SOHO grade. So I was a bit nervous on trying out this new ground of enterprise level MFC printers. I had hope for $2,000 and with the HP name I would not be disappointed, but was worried it would just be a big version of what the office stores and retailers have out on display. After about a month and 1,254 copies, 828 pages printed, and 48 pages sent via fax later we are REALLY pleased with this unit.

I was a little skeptical when I read HP was rating this thing at 42ppm and 75,000 copies a month. Faster per minute than our old Ricoh, and almost as heavy a duty cycle...all in a package that is about 1/3 the size. The Ricoh was not networked, for scanning, emailing, or printing, nor was it able to do faxes.

This thing is a no brainer for a small medical/dental/legal office, or any small business that wants something better than general consumer products, yet not wanting to spend five figures to get a modern copier nor wanting a several hundred dollar a month copier lease.

Gigabit Ethernet, USB hook up, fax, Auto-Document Feeder Scan, Scan to email, Scan to Network are some of the really robust features on this device that make it a tremendous value for the small office niche.

One of the very cool features is that you can set the device to send a digital copy of all sent AND received faxes to an email address as your choice in order to archive the proof of sending. Away from the office and a critical fax comes in? No problem, check your email on your phone, and voila there is your fax!

You can stick a clients file of like 100pages into the ADF and type in an email address....let it be and a minute later, a PDF file of that clients file is in your email box. Or with the touch of another button you can scan and save it over your work network directly to a shared hard drive on one of your computers, or a NAS drive.

All this and MUCH MUCH more, in a device that you actually OWN. I am hoping this thing will put out two solid years of trouble free service. If so then it will have been EASILY worth the money. I am hopeful this thing will be around for MANY years. But even if it does start giving up the ghost after 2-3 years, by that point it would be cost effective to upgrade again if need be, as opposed to sinking $15,000 into a traditional copier based product.

It seems to be rather sturdily constructed. Copies, fax printouts, and PC printouts are fast, quiet, and CLEAR! Our office had been putting up with very low quality copies for quite some time as the repair cost to service the copier was prohibitive, it just did not make sense. Now we are asking why in the world did we wait so long and put up with such terrible output quality for so long.

Toner is a bit (actually rather) expensive. Just paid $350 at New Egg for a twin pack of the 55X High Yield cartridges (~14,000 pgs each). That might perhaps come down. We will not be cutting corners on cheap toner, not when this thing is new anyway.

I am pleased with the quality of this product I recieved from Amazon. My FAX unit is a few years old but still working well and I hesitate to upgrade the technology. I purchaced four "rolls" of the necessary print film at a good price and will probably use this for another few years. At which time, I am sure to "up-grade" to some newer technology. For now however, I count on Amazon to always be there for the products I need at a very fair price.

I waited about a month and 1/2 for this printer to become available after its release earlier this year. I purchased the printer at Staples for 199.00, but returned my ''old'' one and received a 50.00 rebate, so my net cost was 149.00 for this product. I found the 3" LCD very easy to read and also very user friendly, as it takes you step by step while installing the printer to your network for the first time. It took about 30 minutes from out of the box, to fully function properly. I was torn between purchasing a laser vs an ink jet, but determined my needs were better suited for an inkjet and I was pleasantly surprised on the quality of the pictures I created via the printer. The colors were amazing! I will upload a sample shortly. I found the wireless connection which allows me to print wirelessly without having to connect using a cable from the computer was awesome, as my wife usually works on her laptop, and this is great feature! The Canon MX882 operates with five ink cartridges; so when one specific color runs out, you just need to replace that one cartridge and not the entire array. I also noticed Canon installs easily to reach ''shortcuts'' on your pc to easily manage your function for your printer. The scanner worked well, as I was quikly able to scan an old 4x6 photo and upload it to my pc for easy sharing. You can also scan to e-mail as it will open up your e-mail and attach a scan to a new message. In a nutshell, very, very user friendly and the quality of the prints were great.

I recently replaced my old Pixma ip4000 with this new MX882. Set up was straight forward and without a glitch. The machine is nice to look at and prints very high quality photos and documents with great speed. The display makes it easy for those who are "technology challenged" to scan, copy, or fax without difficulty.

The wireless printing setup was fast and flawless.

My only reservations about this machine are:

1. The shiny black plastic body is a major dust collector and difficult to keep clean.

2. You can use EITHER the Ethernet connection OR the wireless connection, but not both. This is disappointing and requires you to toggle the printer between modes.

All in all I am very happy with this Canon multifunction machine. It is far superior to all the troublesome HP multi-functions that I''ve had in the past.

We owned a Canon IP6000 a few years ago and decided to buy an Epson Artisan 800 because of it''s multi tasking capabilities. That was a total mistake! I have had 4 printers in the last 2 years, under warranty, that Epson had to send me because the features kept going out on it!

I bought this printer at Staples yesterday and I am very pleased with it so far. The text quality is better than Epson''s and the photos are spectacular, just like the Canon that we used to own. The photos turn out just like you had them developed at the store. I waited for a month and a half for this printer to come out and I am not disappointed that I waited. Well worth the investment and I will be sticking with Canon!

My wife and I bought this printer yesterday. It''s setup was fairly straight forward until we tried loading the supplied driver/software disk on our two x64 Win 7 laptops. It kept hanging up while trying to load the disk. After a few attempts on both machines we went to Canon''s official site and downloaded the specific drivers/software for x64 Win 7. They downloaded quickly and without fuss. We would''ve saved a little time by skipping trying to load the disk and just getting the OS specific downloads from Canon''s site. So if you''re using x64 Win 7 skip the disc and go to Canon''s site.

I''m a Canon Gal. I''ve always had Canon printers -since the days way back in my Spent Youth, when Canon made printers for Apple. (We''re talking dot-matrix old.) The Pixma line has always been most excellent. The MX882 is a definite step up. I love this printer! I love anything that *auto duplexes* without me having to take the page out and re-feed it through facing the right direction. (I don''t know about you, but I *never* get the direction right on the first try.) It''s a true all-in-one that does everything it promises. Plus, it can, to quote my friend''s teenage daughter, "have sex with my phone and make pictures come out!" Grin.

For those not technically inclined, some of its functionality may seem daunting. Don''t be intimidated! It''s fairly plug and play. The screen on the printer will guide you through networking set-up, etc. If you can''t figure something out, Canon has excellent customer support.

It auto-duplexes (I''m a writer. I need this. Oh, you don''t know how *much* I NEED this!)

Here''s what I don''t like:

This printer MUST have good, quality laser paper. Thin paper or draft paper upsets it and it jams, burps and refuses to pull the paper down from the back feeder. Being a Canon Fan, I expect this and use high quality paper.

It seems to be either it''s Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I don''t know why. Just is. (If I figure out otherwise, I''ll place a comment below my review.) I use Wi-Fi and USB.

Even though it has quirks, I give this printer 5 stars because the functionality and quality are excellent. It''s great for the price -and like all Canon printers, it''s a workhorse. I''m definitely sold on this all-in-one!!!

Excellent quality, and arrived in two days. Very bright white, Matte finish.

I have several uses for it, other than actually as inkjet paper, and for about $21 (including shipping) for a 150ft x 3ft roll, it is by far the best deal on basic roll paper that I''ve seen.

Paper seems good but it is now 21 lb and not 24 lb. The other review was 3 years ago so it has probably changed since then. Will use this mainly for kids to draw and do arts and crafts so it is still fine for me. In the Amazon specs it does not mention it, but when you look it up on the HP website, it does give the weight.

I occasionally sell items on ebay and it is nice to use this paper roll to provide a perfectly smooth white backdrop for product photographs. The paper is thick enough that it is not prone to wrinkling and has a smooth, high quality finish. Highly recommended!

The ink is great, though a bit difficult to put in compared to a smaller printer. The quality is great and it doesn''t smudge. The only fault which i found with this ink cartridge was that it did not last very long. Though i print a reasonable amount each day, my former computer printed the same amount using less ink. If you want a fast printer then buy it. But if you want a printer that does not use alot of ink then don''t buy it.
