Given that the Brother replacement drum (as opposed to this third-party item) is almost as expensive as a new printer, I hoped that I''d be lucky and not experience the bad results many others have shown in their rating.

However, as soon as I received this, I installed it in my Brother laser printer and printed a page of text. Only the left side of the page appeared on the printed page. I tried adjusting this several ways, making sure that all pieces were operating properly. In the end, I realized that there''s a good reason why this cost $75 less than the legitimate Brother replacement drum -it just doesn''t work.

Fortunately, Amazon came to the rescue with their wonderful returns policy and I came out unscathed -my old drum still makes big blotches on the page, but it still prints the entire text. Next time I''ll be more wary when I see a lot of bad reviews.

Not worth the money I saved. Printed prox 3000 copies before lines and ghost printing rendered it useless. I support a lot of Brother MFC''s and would not buy this particular compatible again (glad Amazon reminds me I bought it). If you only have $40 and need to get up and running, then, maybe, but I''d shell out the $110+ for the OEM or a better compatible.

this 20,000 page drum for the Brother 8045D multi-function laser printer works perfectly at $25 new from Inkers. Office Depot charges between $140-$180 for the same thing.

I bought this drum as a replacement for a a drum that was damaged when labels came off and stuck to the rollers. I t has worked perfectly in the two weeks that I have had it installed. The print quality is just as good as the one it replaced. I found prices that were at least three times what I paid for this one. So, I consider this to be a very good purchase.
