I have been using this matte tri-fold paper for a few years now in our business. It always worked fine, but I recently purchased the HP equivalent, and here is what I found:

SHARPNESS: The HP matte tri fold paper printed a little crisper than the Avery. Photos were just a little better, but text was significantly sharper. (I use an Epson R320)

FOLDING: With the Avery, you have to hold the paper at just the right angle and really strain to see the fold lines. You can only see them on one side, and it folds better if you print the outside of your brochure on the side with the lines.

With HP, the fold lines are easier to see. You still have to kindof tilt the paper to see the lines, but they are visible on both sides.

All in all, the HP is a slight winner over the Avery, mainly because of the sharpness of the text, and slightly easier folding. To be fair, I was happy with the Avery until I tried the HP, and if HP quit making this paper I''d have no problem going back to the Avery. Also, it could be that my printer just likes the HP paper better.

One final note: I have also tried some of the glossy trifold papers and they do not work as well. There is occasional smearing, and the paper along fold lines can sometimes peel a little.
