Comparing this product to Avery tri-fold brochure paper, this one stands above in most ways. The ease of folding is especially noticeable and lends a much more professional appearance. No one can tell it''s coming off my printer! The cost, however, combined with HP ink prices, makes this unacceptably pricey, except for customized limited run work where you''re willing to invest $0.70 a copy!

I just tried this brochure paper after using the Avery equivalent for about three years. They are very similar, but I prefer the HP brand now. Here are the differences:

SHARPNESS: HP was a tiny bit crisper. Photos were just a little better, but text was significantly sharper. (I use an Epson R320)

FOLDING: With the Avery, you have to hold the paper at just the right angle to see the fold lines. You can only see them on one side, and it folds better if you print the outside of your brochure on the side with the lines.

With HP, the fold lines are easier to see. You still have to kindof tilt the paper to see the lines, but they are visible on both sides. You can tell by looking at the lines which side would work best for the outside of the brochure.

All in all, the HP is a slight winner over the Avery, mainly because of the sharpness of the text, and slightly easier folding. We use trifolds with lots of text and high quality photos in our business, and the HP just looks more professional. To be fair, I do have to hold the brochures side by side to really notice the difference, and if HP quit making this paper I''d have no problem going back to the Avery.

One final note: I have also tried some of the glossy trifold papers and they do not work as well. There is occasional smearing, and the paper along fold lines can sometimes peel a little.

A few years ago I started a cheesecake business and wanted to create my own brochures. I did so using Pagemaker (I''m old school, what can I say?) and then I printed them on my HP C3180 Photosmart printer with this HP brochure paper. WOW, did they look amazing! The colors and text are very crisp and sharp, with my photos popping off the page. My customers were surprised that I printed them myself. They ARE pre-scored (not sure why that one reviewer didn''t think so), and there is definitely a front and back (if you print them on the wrong sides you can still fold the brochure, but it won''t stay closed by itself). I placed images across the folds and they looked excellent on both sides...no ugly splitting of the paper fibers. The quality truly is astounding.

If you have a small business and can''t afford to have a professional printer print 100s of copies, or if you change your brochure information frequently enough, this brochure paper is the way to go. I created my own template in Pagemaker and am a professional marketing consultant who does a lot of writing, layout work and photography, so I was able to do the entire thing myself. But even if you have to hire a friend or a consultant to do it for you, you''ll still be pleased with the end result if you use this paper instead of a print company. Of course, you do have to have a good inkjet printer, because even this exceptional paper can''t make up for a crappy printer. Try a test print of a really nice color picture on cardstock on your printer. If it looks good on that, it will look good on this paper!

HP must have changed something about this paper when they redesigned the box recently. I have been using this tri-fold paper in my Epson Artisan 810 printer for 2 years with great success. Now, all of a sudden, this paper will not feed into my printer. I have tried everything possible and no luck. I even ran a side-by-side comparison with the last of my old stock of this paper....the old stock works just fine and the new stock refuses to feed. It makes no difference if I have the "Thick Paper:" setting on or off.

I am now going to have to find a new paper to print my business brochures because I am certainly now going to throw out a great printer. Very disappointed in this new batch of paper. Returning what is left to Amazon.

Good product. Will buy again. Works well in my ink jet printer. Used regular stock paper before and it was kind of blah but this product makes the colors pop and it''s much easier to fold..
