Zebra LP2844 Thermal Label Printer Save 40% off

Zebra LP2844 Thermal Label PrinterFor those who regularly ship through the USPS or even UPS, this little machine will save you time and money. It holds large rolls of labels and requires NO ink. There are no ink refill costs. With very few moving parts, there are less opportunities for malfunction or breakage. Used and refurbished units are generally a safe buy. I''ve been using a refurbished machine for 2 years and have printed thousands and thousands of labels with NO issues. I would suggest that one conduct thorough research as prices for these machines can vary greatly especially for not-new machines. I would also suggest that users consider investing in better quality labels for shipping use. Cheaper labels seem to print less darkly than those that are higher quality. Lastly, extended exposure to intense sunlight or heat and the gum of most tape will darken thermal labels. To keep from losing your printed information (and addresses) refrain from taping over the labels and avoid extended exposure to intense sunlight and heat.

As far as specifics go, I use the Zebra LP 2844 thermal printer with a desktop PC and Endicia postage software.

I am running Readyshipper PRO on a Mac to print USPS shipping labels, since this software integrates with my shopping cart.

Originally, I had tried using a DYMO 4xl label printer, but I could not get the labels to print properly aligned for the life of me. So I gave up, sold it, and with the funds, I bought this one (used). My mac already had the driver for it, so it was so easy to set up (only took 1 minute).

At first it was only printing blank labels, and I was getting very irritated, but then realized that the shipper had put the labels in upside down/the wrong way.

After I fixed that, labels were printing perfectly aligned and very effortlessly.

They print a little slow compared to the DYMO 4xl, but heyI''d rather them print slow & perfect, than fast and have only a tiny piece of the label printed on the corner!

This thing is a beast. 5 stars

Years ago when I worked for a law firm we had one of these for the UPS computer. I remember it never having a problem. In an office that seemed full of the technologically handicapped, it was the one thing that never failed.

Fast forward a decade. I''m the owner of a small farm business. We were looking for some way of printing our own labels for our many products (mostly whole fresh poultry or frozen meat for pet food). We were expecting LaserJet or something labels, but then I stumbled across my old friend here and we thought we could probably pull it off with a thermal label printer like this if we were okay with printing just one color (which we are).

I found a used one for $60, bought some Zebra labels (buy labels from barcodediscount.com excellent customer service checked in with me before processing the order to make sure I had a compatible printer) and now we have print-on-demand labels. If you''re putting them on plastic food packages to be frozen, get the Z-Select 4000D series labels, which are made for low temperature applications.

For a small company like us, spending a fortune on a minimum 500 pre-printed labels for each product wasn''t an option, and handwriting labels is kind of tacky. Yes, they''re in black and white, but we can customize each label to suit our needs. And, no need for ribbons or ink. At about $30 for 700 4"x4" labels it ended up being a good deal. We would''ve paid the same ($90) for about 1000 of a single label. At least with this we''re not tied down to one thing!

Setup wasn''t a breeze, but it''s because I got cocky. For Windows 7 users: Download the newest version of Zebra Printer Setup and install it. Follow its instructions for adding a new printer and rather than select one manually, let Windows Update locate and install the driver.

Took a little while tinkering with the settings (dimensions), but once up and running, works like a charm! I use it solely for UPS shipping labels, which I buy direct from UPS. I''ve owned it for 2 months now and have had no issues.

Hi, I am so happy to have my thermal printer since I ship from 10-30 packages a day. However, I went through quite an ordeal setting this up. When I bought it the description said that it was compatible with Mac OS systems however, it did not work with mine. I had to bring in an old PC and spend 3 hours on the phone with tech support trouble shooting to get this bad boy running. I am not incredibly computer savy so maybe it is easy for others.

Now that is running, I love it. Prints well, does it''s job.

This little printer is great. Paid $50 for it in the library because I didn''t want to have to go there every time to print. I have had it for about a month and it has had NO problems. The quality is fine but for the price it''s unbeatable. It fits nicely on a shelf on my desk. It''s so cheap what''s not to love about it! The biggest bonus is that the ink is more than half the price for this printer as it is for every other HP. $15! Yes, the printer''s got a great size, great style, and a great price--even for the ink. But this is probably because it eats through the ink so quickly! I''ve had mine for about two months, and I just started my third cartridge. Even given that the first cartridge might be a low-ink starter cartridge, that''s pretty fast! And I don''t think I print overly much, though I am in school, but I don''t think I''ve printed much more than 100 pages in that span--and all at Fast Draft, Grayscale.

I''ve just received my HP D2460 printer today. So far, so good. It was relatively easy to set up, except that the included cd-rom came with a bunch of extra software that isn''t needed for the printer (I just deselected the unnecessary software during installation). one HUGE problem is that this printer doesn''t come with a USB cable included in the box!!! Luckily, I had a USB cable from an old printer that I could use for this one. Make sure to buy a USB cable when you order this printer (or at least already have one available), or else you won''t even be able to connect it to your computer. They really should make it more clear that the printer doesn''t come with a USB cable in the box.

We got this printer last night and it works wonderfully for our family. We needed something cheap but that worked well.

I like this printer because it prints fast and that the paper sits horizontally at the bottom of the machine, instead of a vertical paper tray. I have no issues with its moderate use of ink because my ink cartridges usually dry out before I can use them up. Unfortunately, my printer arrived with a dry printer cartridge that I had to replace before I could start using it.

While I noticed that a previous reviewer complained on the paper arriving in disarray, that was not my experience. My order arrived neatly shrink wrapped. Of course shrink wrapping does not allow for easy removal of a partial quantities I can live with this by storing the paper elsewhere.

You can only really appreciate this product if you do a lot of comb binding. It is a real time save as you need only bind, not punch and bind. While the paper alone could be had for around $7.00 at any office supply store it''s worth the extra dollars to to save time.

This Seiko is replacing an old Dymo label printer at work that finally failed after years of use.

The new Seiko 440 was priced right at Amazon, looks attractive in Jade & Ivory, and was easy to install. I downloaded the latest Seiko software from the web, it works fine with 64-bit Windows 7 with the printer on a USB port.

POSITIVES:

+ Good print quality. 300dpi resolution, type is smooth and dark

+ Prints quietly

+ Seiko software is full-featured, but less intuitive than Dymo software

SOME ISSUES:

Paper loading on the Seiko is more difficult than on Dymo printers, and it''s easy to load the labels so they are not feeding straight. You almost have to be looking directly at the rear of the printer during loading.

Removable front cover plate reveals a platen release lever, which is handy when clearing paper jams, but the front cover requires a lot of force to remove, then it suddenly SNAPS off loudly. Poor design, there should be a spring-loaded button or latch that releases the front cover GRACEFULLY.

Cylindrical cover on top swings-back to reveal the roll of labels underneath. As with the cover plate, too much force is required to UN-SNAP this cover.

Push the front panel power button to toggle between Ready and Standby modes. The problem is that the green READY light looks almost exactly like the yellow STANDBY light. Seiko should have used a better two-color LED lamp. (and no, I am not color-blind!)

I''ve used these printers for years with Windows software at work and home they are mechanically well built and reliable. I was very disappointed, however, when I purchased this device for use with a new MacBook. Compared to the intuitive, clean, simple software interface for the PC, the Mac-compatible software provided by Seiko for this printer is simply terrible. It seems to me the Mac UI software was clearly an afterthought. It is so bad that we will manually feed a blank label through the printer and tear it off, then handwrite on the label when we only need one label rather than go through the pain of using the Mac software interface. Some of the most frustrating differences between the Mac and PC versions of the software:

1 If there is a regular printer connected to the Mac as the default printer, the Seiko label printer will default to that device when the first started. The label printer must be manually selected each time.

2 The software provides a default address template each time software starts. That template can''t be changed, nor can a substitute template, or no template, be configured to appear on startup. The template must be manually deleted after startup.

3 The PC User Interface provides a simple WYSIWYG presentation of the label as you type that is available instantly after the software is initiated. The MAC Interface does not. After you delete the default template, if you have created custom templates, you must select one of those templates after you start.

4 The MAC templates do not permit saving a "blank" template on which you could immediately begin to type. If you save and then load a blank template, you need to then select a default format such as address label or return address label to populate the blank template, which you then must delete before you can start typing your label.

It''s too bad the printer is really an excellent piece of hardware. I''m always surprised that so few MAC programmers must be available that a company like Seiko can''t find one with the UI design experience of the PC programmers.

The photos I''ve printed look better than what I get at the chain drug store. Which might be a reflection on the printer as much as the paper. When I look at it under magnification I can see the dot pattern but I can''t with my naked eye. The colors are close to what I see on my screen, but they are NOT exactly what I see. I''m a Photoshop user and I use RBG color matching try to get what I saw on film to the printer. I''m able to get pretty close but no cigar! Still, this is a work center printer and not one designed for photos... and the ink and the paper is very inexpensive. I''ve printed several of my old photo that I won''t mind hanging on a wall... as long as they''re behind glass.

  • Rapid copying and printing speeds help you get the job done quickly.
  • Copy and scan pages in less time when you use the automatic document feeder.
  • Give your budget and the environment a helping hand with built-in duplex printing and energy saving mode.

Purchased this some months ago. Even though this product seemed too new at that time to have reviews, the reviews I read on other multifunction machines told me that there was an equal risk in going with this or one of the other better rated products.

It turned out to be a good decision. This machine has given good service, though so far I have only used it as a copier alone (and have not used its other functions). But in the copier capacity, it has been reliable and easy to use. The menus are logical, auto feeder etc. work fine, and no jamming problems. The price also seemed reasonable at that time; especially for someone using all of its functions, this is an economical machine.

So far, so good. Recommended.

I purchased this product for Christmas from Staples as it was cheaper at the time. I am in love with this printer. It creates high quality photo''s quickly. It has several great features included and does come with handy software for making adjustments either on your PC or on the printer itself.

One thing I must say however, is that the type of photo paper you are using makes a HUGE difference. Epson Premium Glossy is by far the best when used with this. It is, in all honestly, difficult to tell the difference between a digitally printed photo and a traditional film photograph.

The printer itself is very cost effective for those with a budget in mind. The only thing that is missing from the package is the much needed USB female/female cord to attach it to the pc for a direct pc print.

The unit does take several types of memory cards and has a very clean viewing screen.

On board controls are very user friendly and even has some extra nifty printing features such as sepia toning.

I really recommend this printer for those wanting an outstanding photo at an even better price!

The color photos were as good as getting them developed at a photo shop.

I''m only reviewing to let people know that in all the printers I have bought in the last several years, they have NEVER come with a cable. So read the box which will not list a cable in the contents. It''s not very fair to rate a printer with 1 star because it didn''t come with a cable, which you would have known if you''d read the box.

And I have found it is better to just go all out and buy the ink cartridges made by canon. The others do clog up your ink ports and there is pretty much no way of fixing this yourself. It''s taken me 4 printers to figure this out. Now, I only buy the expensive ink made for the machines. It''s more money, but I don''t have to buy a new printer every year either.

I hope this helps with future printer purchases

Konica Minolta Magicolor 1650EN Color Laser Printer Save 20% off

Konica Minolta Magicolor 1650EN Color Laser Printer; 20PPM; B&with 5 Ppm Color; 9600X600 Dpi; 256 Mb Ram; Ethernet
  • Ultra compact and lightweight
  • Designed to network with a variety of operating systems
  • 9600 x 600dpi maximum print resolution
  • 20ppm black and white print speed; 5ppm color
  • 256MB standard memory

I purchased this laser printer after doing a fair bit of research on what is the most economical printer, with a good rating AND a network link. It was also important that the printer would work on Mac, Linux and Windows platform. This printer was what floated to the top. The built-in NIC is very useful just plugin the power cord, a network cable and turn it on on either the Mac or Windows 7, the printer is detected as a network printer automatically when adding a new printer. No drivers needed. Truly plug and play on both the Mac and Windows.

The unit itself is very quiet when in its power saving mode, with the only indication that its on being a blue light on the front panel. While printing, the unit is certainly louder but still enough to maintain a conversation at a reasonable level. I haven''t truly tested to see if I can get 5 ppm colour or 20ppm B/W, but I have noticed that from power-up to print it takes about 15-30 seconds and less than 10 seconds from sleep; neither numbers being an issue for me. Its a small unit that tucks away in a corner of the room nicely, and its tray takes a full stack of office paper. The one thing that would make this fantastic would be a duplexer unit. This is sold as an option for this model, however, the price nearly doubles.

To address some of the previous reviews, where Konica-Minolta stopped supporting the printer by no longer providing printer driver updates, I should say that for this particular printer, configured as a network printer through the LAN port, I can''t see this being a problem. Both on the Mac system as well as on Windows 7, the printer is recognised as a Postscript printer, meaning that the drivers are Windows'' generic built-in. I have never been a fan of using a vendor''s own print driver since they tend to add a lot of cruft and little value (having not installed the vendor driver I wouldn''t know if this is the case here), but I for one am hard pressed to see what difference the vendor driver provides over the PS one, and am of the mindset that there is none. So I don''t think planned obsolescence on KM''s part might not hit the 1650EN quite so hard. Just some food for thought...

In short, for under $200, you will have trouble finding a laser printer with this economy, durability and a network connection.

Buy Konica Minolta Magicolor 1650EN Color Laser Printer Now

We run several different operating systems in my house, and getting a printer which can support all of them is a challenge sometimes. This printer fit right in without any trouble. I had the printer unboxed, on the network, and printing from my Linux machine within half an hour, including time to deal with a broken software issue on the Linux machine.

The best bit: because of the Postscript print engine, and Konica-Minolta having the good sense to include Postscript Printer Description (PPD) files, the drivers shipped with the machine worked perfectly on my Linux computer. If you''ve ever set up a Linux printer, you know that just never happens.

If you have a simple network, this printer is probably plug and play. With absolutely no configuration on my part my main desktop was able to connect to the printer and print.

If you buy a network printer though, there''s a good chance that you want to tweak your setup just a little bit. It was really easy to assign a network address of my choosing instead of an automatic address. I entered that address into my name server, and then it was trivial to connect to the printer from any machine on my network, by entering a printer server host of magicolor1650 (the host name I entered in the name server).

It really doesn''t get easier than this. I''ve been setting up home networks for 15 years, and this is the easiest printer installation I''ve ever had. Plug it in, tell the network about it, tell the computers about it, and it just works. That just never happens.

I got this color laser printer to replace a Samsung CLP-315W which was junk (I reviewed it too). The 1650EN is connected via ethernet to a network of Macintosh computers. It has a nice small footprint. It is very quiet in sleep mode, mostly quiet between printing and sleep mode, and somewhat noisy when printing but don''t chalk that up as a complaint. The print output is fantastic. The toner cost per print is above average but as it''s not our primary laser printer, it doesn''t get much of a workout on any given day. For such a small unit, the print speed isn''t bad; grayscale output is a little quicker. I give Ease of Setup 3 stars, perhaps unfairly, but only because the company does not do a good job of updating printer drivers for Mac OS X upgrades--it took K-M not less than a couple of months to put out a beta driver for Snow Leopard (OS X v10.6) after its release by Apple, and figuring out which driver(s) to use/install is somewhat confusing. Anyway we got the beta to work and have not had any problems with it. I would buy one of these again.

Want Konica Minolta Magicolor 1650EN Color Laser Printer Discount?

This is the second model of Konica Minolta laser printers that I have purchased in recent years. I am very satisfied with the Konica Minolta brand. Laser printers are great because the toner is much more affordable than constantly having to pay for ink cartridges. Also, laser doesn''t "bleed" if water droplets get on the copy. The 1650EN printer is smaller than my previous printer, which is definitely a plus factor. It provides good, sharp color printing for an affordable cost. The only drawback to the printer is that it is not very fast.

Save 20% off

I was about to order another color laser printer in this price category, but wanted to get some opinions from friends who might have some experience with laser printers in the home, and I am glad I did. This printer was recommended by a friend whose opinions I trust. He told me that he had been using his 1650EN in a home network environment for almost three years without any negative incidents. From my own past experiences in the computer business, I saw this as a refreshing alternative to the units that often came into our repair shop having a far more common name in laser printer technology.

For the price, I can''t imagine anyone would have any complaints about this printer; the print quality in both text and color graphics is excellent. Printer set-up couldn''t have been easier on my Mac network; I didn''t even bother with either of the two discs that came with the printer, I just downloaded the latest drivers from the Konica-Minolta site. I would, though, have to say that there is at least one shortcoming to the printer that should have been addressed some time during its present life span: a user cannot upgrade its relatively small amount of on-board RAM. This would certainly be useful when dealing with higher definition photoshop projects. The print speed suffers a bit too here, but is satisfactory when printing text. Also, now that wireless networks are all the rage, the 1650EN shows itself to be a little long in the tooth since several newer competing models in this price range do offer the wireless connection feature. I would guess that this will appear in the printer that replaces this one in a future K-M lineup.

In all, I expect this printer to last me for several years at my current print demand levels, and would recommend it to anyone who wants a modestly-priced color laser printer for the home.
