Randal the Flannel CamelI loved the Astrobright Envelopes from Wausau. I bought them to send copies of my new book for children called "Randal the Flannel Camel" to friends all over the country. At first I worried that they wouldn''t be strong enough to make it through the sorting process, but they worked out just fine. Everyone thinks the colors are great. Not easy to find until I look on Amazon.

I looked everywhere for these. I bought some colored envelopes many years ago, and I kind of doled them out on a limited basis, but I finally ran out and have never been able to locate them again, not at Office Max, Office Depot, Wal Mart, or anywhere else. I really missed having some festive large envelopes, I love colors and I always think it brightens someone''s day to receive a pretty envelope.

I saw these and jumped on the chance to get two packs. Yay. They were shipped super fast with two other items I had purchased, and with the super saver shipping plus no taxes, it was a huge bargain.

The colors are VERY bright, and hopefully I can make these last for a while. Absolutely worth what I paid for them, and they are almost impossible to find in a mixed pack of colors anywhere else, and not even close in price. They are horribly expensive elsewhere, if you can even find them, plus when you DO locate them, they are usually from a wholesaler and they make you buy huge quantities of a single color at a time.

I am very happy with my purchase. Love ya, Amazon!!

The plastic laminate that is on one side of the paper causes it to slip in the printer and not pass through like a normal paper. Also, if you do get a sheet to print, it is NOT easy to fold over the laminate to cover the printed part.

You''d think Kodak paper would work in a new Kodak copier! The Kodak copier itself is FANTASTIC with the better quality papers. But this plain photo paper always gets stuck in the printer. When you feel the page, it''s all sticky. I called Kodak''s customer service. He said, "Feel the page. Is it sticky? Then that''s the problem." Yeah, right. I already knew that. He hinted that it was a bad batch. Maybe yes, maybe no. But it seems from Reviews that I''m not the first person to have this problem.

It''s not thick enough like regular photo prints you would get from a store. I would recommend spending some more money and getting good paper if you really want quality photographs.

Want Kodak Matte Photo Paper (8318164) Discount?

I was expecting a paper that had a really *really* light satin finish, some sort of surfacing, anyway. All I got was a pack of overpriced cardstock. The only thing going for this paper is that the blacks really print out *black* and that it dries fast. I was expecting more, though, from a pack that calls itself photo paper.

If you are looking to use this paper to print photos like I was, then I would not recommend it. This is just like regular printer paper. The only difference is that on the back of each page it says Kodak, otherwise it is just as thin as plain printer paper. You could get regular white card stock which is much thicker for much cheaper. Overall I would not recommend this paper. It''s just overpriced printer paper.

These toners are easy to install. One thing though, after the first warning of these toners being low I take them out and check the little round window to see if there is still toner. If there is, I wind back the gear with a peg on it back to its original position. I recently did this with all three colors as it was reported they were going low. After winding back the gears, the printer performed perfectly for another month with a moderate amount of color printing. Finally, the low toner warnings went off again and since there appeared no more toner, I installed new ones. I have a closet full of these consumables and look forward to many great years printing with these printers. (We have 6 of them)

This is the OEM High Yield toner for some Brother printers. Do not buy refurbished or re-filled toners from other sources. Don''t be tempted to save a few dollars with these inferior toners. Print quality and toner life are not the same, not to mention possible printer damage. Don''t be too quick to replace your OEM toners when the printer tells you to. These toners use a timing wheel that count down based on the number of pages printed, not the amount of toner left in the cartridge. There are many articles on the web on how to reset the cartridges. Do a google search on Brother Toner Reset to find an article for your printer.

I bought this cartridge to replace the exact same item purchased just 6 months and 3400+ copies ago (both from Amazon), because that exact same item decided to leak all over the inside of my printer, and was on all the rollers of all the other colors. All my pages had magenta dots and big splotches along the right margin. I see other reviewers with the same problem with this magenta cartridge. I''ve purchased all the colors from Amazon more than once with no problems, and they seem to be genuine Brother cartridges, so I''m not sure what the problem is with this magenta cartridge. New one seems to be working fine one week later, but I guess we''ll see with time.

**Update** one month after using the new magenta cartridge it too IS LEAKING ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF MY PRINTER. No recourse with Amazon as the return window has just passed customer service could not guarantee a full refund. What a rip off. Order these from another vendor.

The yield claimed by brother is contrary to my experience with my printer.

I''m getting a bit less than half the life claimed per toner cartridge by Brother.

Before you buy a brother printer, calculate the ink cost. My estimate is about 20 cents per page to use this printer just for ink when doing color, about 6 cents when doing black and white.

The cartridge appeared to be OK at first. But after a couple of month''s use, the cartridge begin to make tiny rain drop type of stains on the print. So I took the tray out and then each cartridge. As soon as I took this one out, the toner powder spilled everywhere. All other cartridges are genuine Brother. I did not even know where the source of leak was. It is not the first time I got bitten by a "compatible" toner. But I thought merchants on Amazon are more honest. I was wrong. The merchant is "toner 100".

Amazon should also be blamed for part of the problem. They put all the knockouts (so-called OEM) and genuine toners under the same item and call it "compatible". So some may be lucky and get genuine replacement parts and others get cheap knockouts and in the end it just confuses customers.

I have had this printer for several months and have only recently been printing stuff on a regular basis. The cartridge says it is good for 2300 pages, and that goes by quickly. The replacement cost is $83+ dollars, which is nearly half the cost of the printer. That is roughly 3.6 cents a page. I suppose this is okay, but $83 seems high to me. Must be fantastic technology involved.

Otherwise the printer works very fine.

The reason I gave this printer one star is to suggest you buy the HP P2055 instead. At Amazon it will cost you under $100 extra. The P2055 will take the high yield CE505X toner cartridge. The P2035 will not. The high yield cartridge will cost you $130.99 at Amazon. If you buy the standard yield CE505A cartridge you will spend $212 to get the same amount of printing as the high yield. Solid, comfortable printer nice "office" feel. Load up the drivers and away you go at least with Mac and through Airport. Other reviews make a fair point about being a bit noisy I have it sitting on a fairly hollow wooden cupboard which may accentuate this issue. However for usual home printing regime I can''t see this being a big issue for most.

Want HP LaserJet Printer Monochrome (P2035) Discount?

I got this printer for $150 and thought it was a steal. It prints very well, although it''s pretty noisy. However, after being aware for several years of the contradiction of cheap inkjets -manufacturers would practically give away the printers because they charged roughly $3500 a gallon for ink -I realize that I have been suckered. Yes, this printer is inexpensive, but it quickly runs out of ink and you have to buy the shorter-life, more expensive CE505A cartridges (about $88) instead of the more cost-effective CE505X cartridges (less than twice the price, but three times the number of pages). So if you want to be able to use the 505X cartridges, you should buy the printer that uses those. Also, Amazon doesn''t sell the CE505A cartridges, so I had to buy mine from Staples. I hate feeling like a sucker!

Perhaps HP has had a bad run of late, but our first printer worked for 2 weeks before it started jamming. The replacement worked for 2 days before it started jamming. We opted to not try a third and went with another manufacturer, I would say avoid this printer until they iron out their feeding issues.

Brother HL-5040 Laser Printer

Brother HL-5040 Laser Printer
  • 2,400 x 600 dpi resolution with HQ1200 technology
  • Up to 17 pages per minute print speed
  • 8 MB memory, upgradeable to 136 MB; 250-sheet universal paper cassette
  • Supports optional 10BaseT external Ethernet print server
  • USB 2.0 and parallel interfaces; PC and Mac compatible

I purchased my Brother HL-5040 from Amazon.com for $190.00 delivered, including the USB 2.0 cable, and the TN-530 3,000 page "starter" toner cartridge and the DR-500 drum rated for 20,000 pages. I am an English professor and generally use it for printing out my papers (15 to 30 pages) and drafts of books (up to 500 pages), and master copies of handouts and exams and the like for my classes (I have an HP DeskJet for color printing). The Brother HL-5040 printer has a nice compact footprint: there is no hideous projecting tray or paper catcher as with several of the competing models, and the output area on top holds fifty or more printed pages without spilling them. The printer is also low enough at "9.9 inches" to fit under a foot-high shelf in my work room (so it doesn''t take up the valuable real-estate on the top shelf) The 12 point text (which is the standard in my field) is very sharp, and the old (circa 1880s) political cartoon images I''ve reproduced from scanned photocopies of newspapers look great: I''ve no banding or dark areas.

Having read the other reviews, I want to share some of my thoughts that may shed light on the differing views regarding the Brother printers. This printer replaces a Brother HL-1240 model I''ve owned for over two years. I replaced that printer (it was given to my sister) because its drum was failing, after making approximately 12,000 copies. Until the drum began to fail, I never had a single problem with the printer: it never ever jammed even once (my previous laser printer, an Epson 1400, jammed all the time). For $110 I could have replaced the drum unit (as my sister did), but for $190 I upgraded to the HL-5040. So, while I''ve seen the critiques of the Brother printers because of their drums, and I have in fact elected to replace my HL-1240, I still don''t think the harsh criticisms directed at Brother for this situation are fair.

Here''s what I think: it is not likely that very many $200 laser printers will ever print out 100,000 or even 60,000 high quality copies over their lifetimes. I say this in part because I suspect the paper transport mechanisms in all the printers in the personal use category are likely to be at least somewhat degraded by the time the printer approaches that number of copies, and once that happens--as anyone who''s ever tried to nurse an aging photocopier knows--the point of ever diminishing returns has been reached. And I say this also because many, if not most, small office and home users like me are unlikely to use a $200 printer often enough to generate 60k to 100k copies in less than five years. At my rate of use, I will have to own my new printer for 8 years to reach the upper number. Given the rate of technological change, as good as it now is, I seriously doubt that I''ll want to have this printer for that long.

That said, this time I intend to keep the printer long enough to replace the drum unit at least twice, and, assuming I get the same 12,000 copies out of each drum, that puts me in the 36,000 copies range. When I crunch the numbers (the drums presently cost $140.00 and the 6,500 page toner cartridges run $75), my cost per copy for the first 16,000 estimated copies (using the included DR-500 drum and the TN-530, and purchasing 2 TN-560 toner cartridges), works out to 2.1 cents per page. Of course, as we all know, the estimated yields are highly inflated. Assuming I get 36,000 copies out of the 3 drums (including the one included with the printer) and 5,000 copies from the TN-560 toner cartridges, plus 2,000 to 2,500 from the included TN-530, I''d need to buy 7 TN-560s to get to that number. This would add up to a $995.00 total investment and would mean my actual per copy cost would be approximately 2.8 cents over the "life" of the printer.

This is not the low 1.3 cents per copy figure I''ve seen in one magazine review, but once all the inflated estimates are cut down to size, I suspect it is quite competitive with what the other companies can offer.

Buy Brother HL-5040 Laser Printer Now

I have been staring at the Brother model HL 1440 for quite some time. It was Consumer Reports number one pick. I decided to go with the HL-5040 because of the additional ram and extra fonts. When I read the owners manual it showed me that a lot of other features are built in as well. I like the fact that it prints a page so fast, and only costs 2 cents per page. My Lexmark X83 multifunction does a nice job in color but has a single page print cost of 6 cents to $1.50 when printing a full-page photograph. Now I think nothing of whipping out a 20-page document. The speed is another practical issue. At a max of 17ppm the paper is coming out so fast that one page is settling in the print tray, while another one is coming out right on top of it

To be critical of the unit is to cite the comments in C Reports, and ZD Net reviews as to the medium quality results when printing graphics. I think that is due in part to the print per page cost being the lowest out of all of the printers. The HL1440 was rated a little higher in graphics, but the same in text. I think black and white photos mixed into an MS Publisher document look fine for black and white. The laser gives you an acceptable printed photo for a few cents. Make up a single 4-page flyer, and make a hundred copies, and you can see that the laser printer could pay for itself in a single printing next to an inkjet. Makes you want to market your tail off with the economy of the laser.

I networked the house, and put the brother HL-5040 in my home office, and now have the option of printing from any one of the machines.

It comes with 8 Meg of ram built in, that is permanently installed, and you have one expansion slot for a single added ram chip. I went into Boogle.com and found a supplier with a 128 Meg ram chip that is generic. The 128 was only thirty-six dollars with free shipping. The printer will work fine with the 8 Meg it comes with, but if you send it a 50-page PDF file, the extra ram is a good idea to help prevent bottlenecks.

I love the fact that it has a 250-sheet paper tray. The additional 250-sheet tray for a total of 500 is an option.

The 5040 was listed in Consumer Reports as being the loudest of the laser printers, but I find it to be very quiet.

The big bonus is that with a laser printer your ink never dries out. It is a powder to start with. My friend bought an NEC in the mid 80''s and did very little printing, and just last year his cartridge ran out. The problem with my Lexmark inkjet is that the darn cartridges wear out so fast even if you don''t use them, and they are expensive.

You do not want to move this machine without removing the drum-toner cartridge first. Brother has big warning messages on the toner bag, stating you can do irreparable harm if you don''t remove it first. I imagine that the toner can spill into the workings of the printer and do come damage. Some people commenting on streaking may have done just that. If you move it into the next room, treat it like nitroglycerine, or remove the cartridge first.

The bottom line is the price. (...)the reduction in price to start with, this printer is a super buy. I noticed that Brother has a 5140 now to replace this one. It has the same results on graphics, has the same print resolution, and only a couple of pages per minute improvement on the print speed. I saved the extra money by buying the 5040 and put some of that savings, into the 128 Meg memory expansion chip, and still had some money left over. The 5140 does come with 16 Megs instead of 8 like the 5040.

Bubble jets and inkjets will give you a slightly darker and larger text. The laser is smooth, and truly fuzz free, even under a microscope. I find it easier on the eyes to read. I am keeping my Lexmarks X83s for when I want to print photographs, and when I want to print something out right where I am, instead of going into the office.

I''m not into yeah this, and boo that. I think if I had to have just one printer, it would be a full featured bubble-ink jet, so I could do color too. Adding a laser to your arsenal is the ultimate conclusion. With the price of these Brothers, and the high ratings, (...), makes them a must have. Highly recommended.

I work as an independent paralegal, doing research and preparing documents to file with the Courts. I purchased this unit about 6 weeks ago because my inkjet printer was too slow and too expensive for big projects.

Like the other inexpensive Brother laser printers, this one is a very good value, and has features of more expensive printers. It does have some cheap plastic parts, but this is to be expected in this price range. Other inexpensive laser printers look feel cheap in comparison.

On the good side, the printer has the 250 page paper drawer located under the printer, where it belongs. This way, you don''t have an unsightly flop [sic] of paper on the desk in front of you. It also has a front door for feeding single sheets so you don''t have to open the drawer and replace the paper, reset the paper guides, and so forth, simply to print a single envelope. It also pops printed paper out of the top into a proper paper recepticle, or you can open the door at the back of the printer and let the paper feed straight through.

The printer is fast, at 17 pages per minute, and warms up fairly quickly so you don''t have to wait too long for it to start. Print quality is good, and small fonts are legible with no bleeding. The grayscale for graphics is good, with nice even printing and little graininess.

The biggest problem I have with this printer is that the drum and toner cartridge are replaced separately. This is not as much a problem as an annoyance. The printer drum has to be changed every 20,000 copies or so, and costs almost as much as the printer itself. The toner is inexpensive relative to other printers, but the drum is around $100. Despite having this unusual expense every four or five toner cartridges, the per page cost is still only about 1.5 cents per copy. This is comparable to other laser printers, and is significantly cheaper than inkjet printers. In comparison to inkjet printers, this laser will pay for itself in the first 5,000 to 10,000 copies.

For a home or small office, this printer gives a lot of bang for the buck. Given the high quality of the black and white print, the low per page cost, and the speed, this printer is a steal.

Want Brother HL-5040 Laser Printer Discount?

I read most of the reviews on the Brother HL 5040 and there were a few criticisms that concerned me. People wrote that it was loud and handled envelopes poorly. I decided to take my chances since the printer was only $150 with no tax and shipping included. In its defense, I must say that my printer does a great job printing envelopes. I ended up printing out wedding invitations and envelopes. It printed the outer envelopes, inner envelopes, and RSVP envelopes as well as the card stock for the invitation cards, maps, and RSVP cards for 120 invitations!

It was easy to feed them through the manual feeder. I had to do it one at a time, but if you''re on a budget, it beats paying for it to be professionally done (and hopefully, I''ll only have to do it once in my life). It''s also a very speedy printer and so manually feeding the hungry Brother was relatively painless. There was a tendency for envelopes to curl when they came out. It wasn''t a problem after they had been stuffed. I believe that curling problems would happen with any laser printer since the paper gets heated up while being run through the feeders. The graphics for my maps were sharp in the "HQ 1200" mode and I did not have to purchase extra memory for it. Text was sharp in all modes. Paper would jam when I was dumb enough to try to feed paper, cards, or envelopes through the manual feeder that weren''t completely flat. Unjamming was a piece of cake. I''ve also not had a problem with it being too loud. I don''t keep it on all the time and I don''t print while someone is trying to sleep. I''ve never experienced any high-pitched squeal that others have written about.

The only criticism that I do agree with is that it takes a large amount of energy to operate. When I print, the lights start to dim and I turn off other energy guzzling appliances. But if you''re the type that likes to blow-dry your hair with the microwave on while printing on a laser printer all at the same time, you might want to consider... a gas-powered microwave!... or... the "wet hair look!"

To sum it all up, my printer works wonderfully and I was pleased that it did not exhibit some of the nasty things some of the reviews had mentioned. Good luck!

I''ve been struggling to keep my Apple Laserwriter 16/600 running with linux for several years. It''s been fantastic. But after my last upgrade to SuSE 8.2, I ran into several problems getting the drivers installed and configured. So, I finally decided it was time to get a new printer. I chose this printer because it is well supported under linux, prints very fast at 17 pages per minute, has a fast first print time (under 10 seconds) and unlike the HL-1440 comes with 8MB of memory for printing larger files. It''s also PCL6 compatible so it will work with just about any operating system. I had this printer out of the box, plugged in, configured and printing a PDF file in less then 20 minutes. It''s also dead silent when not printing.

The only problems I''ve noticed is that fields of solid black appear to have nearly invisible faint gray lines, and text could be printed a bit darker. But this could be due to the newness of the printer, toner saver settings, etc.

If you''re looking for a great laser printer for a home linux system seriously consider this one. ...

HP 57 Tri-Color Ink Cartridge in Retail Packaging, Twin Pack

I go through a lot of ink and toner. I used to buy recycled cartridges and refills to save money, but don''t do that any more. I have never had a mfg cartridge fail, leak, run dry, blur, or produce intermittent prints. I have had all these problems with second tier cartridges. Your time is worth something, no? Every handed a client a 15-page report and had them note that two pages in the middle are unreadable? Buy cartridges in pairs, like this product. It is MUCH cheaper. I keep extras in the refrigerator. They tell you not to do this, but I can say they last years this way. Another hint: the paper you buy is VERY important. Find a paper you like, and STICK WITH IT. Paper will affect color, brightness, contrast, blacks, and drying time. Each paper produces a different color cast, such as magenta, or yellow.

On June 29, 2011 I purchased this twin pack of HP color ink cartridges, thinking it was a fair price for a highly overpriced product. However, there was a real and undisclosed reason for the low price, the Warranty end date was July 2011! I have not installed the cartridge and am debating about returning the item.

Unless you go through ink cartridges rather quickly, I would try to find out what the warranty date is before purchasing.

I have tried refills for the HP color cartridges and was not satisfied with the results. Black refills seem to work OK.

They work fine, I had problems keeping them locked into place. I found that the small little tab that you click to insert or remove needed to carefully be bent outwards to stay locked in. Also I got a message saying that the ink was empty and please replace with genuine HP inks. I just hit clear or ok and they work fine but the ink level indicators don''t show accurate levels. With the price of HP ink those 2 things don''t bother me.

The colors are fine and you get a full round of all the colors to replace. The only last thing is that the Big black ink isn''t the same size and the HP version its slightly smaller but again for the price i''m ok with them.

Have mixed feelings about these cartridges. When I opened them ink ran out all over my hands... still have the stains to prove it. After it happened with two I learned to put on rubber gloves and open them over the sink. They seem to work OK once I got them in the printer.

These cartridges work fine, and produce quality prints, equal to OEM carts. The printer does complain about non-HP brand, and won''t report ink levels. I can live with that for half the price of OEM!

I did not get to use these cartridges for a couple months and when I installed them my printer said the were almost or completely empty, The black was fine but only two of the colors printed at all.

I am unable to use these cartridges because the "T" tab to lock it in place is actually upside down. My HP cartridges have the "T" facing straight up. There was no return label or invoice so I had no 800# to call. I finally was able to track the shipper on my previous orders & I''m told it''s too late to return them. I will never order from this shipper again. That was a big waste of $53!!!!

Received this mini260 recently as a gift. It was very easy and quick to set up and get up and running. Just remove a few plastic wrappings and pop in the ink cartridge, print out 2 alignment strips and you are good to go. Just select number of copies and press print and off it goes. You can select standard or high quality, but they both looked great and identical to me. Using standard gives you prints in 20 or 30 seconds. The higher setting takes just under a minute. I started using it before reading the instructions so at first I was printing the same photo over and over, because it was the only one selected to print 1 copy. It does not print what you see on the screen unless you have selected at least 1 copy of it. There will soon be a battery pack for this but it is not available yet. I also have not found a carrying bag for the printer and accessories made specifically for this printer (like HP has), so I just use a small laptop case which works perfectly to carry the printer, AC cord, extra paper and ink. The prints come out dry, they look great and this has been a very fun printer to use. I''m very impressed and partial to the Canon quality of cameras and printers. They just seem to always work great with no hassle. There is a separate sheet of paper included with the printer easy set up guide instructing you to make sure the ink cartridge sits nice and snug in it''s slot. It''s just something Canon wanted to add after printing their setup guide to make sure you pop the cartidge in place properly. Another reviewer made it sound like a big deal but it''s not. You''ll know if the ink is sitting properly or not. I have a lot of Canon photo paper but also tried some other generic brand and the pictures look just as good. So, maybe this printer isn''t very picky as to the type of photo paper you use. I know Kodak paper works great on my Canon i550 printer for photos. Also, this is a very quiet printer. Not much noise when printing at either standard or hi-quality. The carrying handle that slides out of the unit is also pretty nice when moving printer from room to room.

When I first got the printer I had some HP and Kodak 4x6 blank photo paper. I tried printing pictures and they looked bad (had streks, blury). I found out you have to use Canon paper. After I bought Canon paper the pictures look very good using pictures taken with a 4.0 mega-pixel Canon camera.

I''ve always loved Canon digital cameras, so I was sure that I would also love a Canon printer. Sadly, I''ve never been so unhappy with anything as I am with this mini260 printer. After less than six months, of light to medium use, the printer seems to be worn out. I am faced with either replacing the print head (which Canon happily tells me may not solve the problem), or replacing the printer completely. Further, I have found that the ink cartridges are nearly impossible to find locally (so I order them from amazon), the paper is very expensive locally, and the printer is picky about using only Canon paper. Other papers give very poor print results. The user interface is very ''clicky'', and I''m not impressed with the feel of the printer it''s very lightweight and fragile-feeling. Before I purchased this canon printer, I used an HP photoprinter (one of the first) for YEARS and was very happy. Guess what I am about to do now ?

This is a great little machine for what it''s worth. I purchased from newegg for $49.99. Easy setup, small footprint. Copies could be a little better, but for the price, they are actually pretty darn good. Speed is pretty good too. Maybe the only small problem is the price on replacement ink cartridges ($30.00+), but one should know that going into the purchase of this fax machine. EVERYONE bitches about ink & toner prices, but that''s just the way it is. Anyways, 5 stars from me!

My old fax was still working, but it seemed like It was getting paper jams every other sheet. It also didn''t have an attached phone.....so when I saw this one and read the reviews, I thoguht I''d give it a chance. Not only that, but I got one heck of a deal via Amazon.com and one of their suppliers. I was offered through BUY.COM for $28.99 and they were including FREE SHIPPING!!! Maybe they had a special, because I see the price is back up. Anyway, got it within 5 days of ordering it via UPS. Set up is a breeze. Ink that comes with it is MINIMAL... so if you do a lot of printing, buy another cartridge right away. After reading the instructions, I FINALLY DISCOVERED WHY I MIGHT HAVE BEEN GETTING PAPER JAMS USING MY OLD MACHINE..... It''s the paper!!! I typically use Office Depot or Office Max 113 or 115 brightness grade/ 24 pound paper which has a very smooth surface. IF YOU DONT "FAN" YOUR SHEETS BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN THE HOLDER.......THEY TEND TO STICK TOGETHER AND WILL JAM THE MACHINE!!! I tried that technique with my old fax machine......and presto.....no more jams!!! I could just kick myself. I guess it pays to read the instructions.

Anyway, It does an OK job of producing copies...Not as sharp/crisp as my old Canon Fax/Printer/Copier. So if you''re using a poor copy to begin with, what you copy from that will be worse. That''s why I gave it 4 of 5 stars. I just dont think it will be good for someone having to print or copy graphics or photos. Phone has a good "sound" to it. Other down side is there ins''t any paper catch.....so you need to set it on wide table to catch what comes out.

It''s a bit ''high end'' for our home fax use, but H/P 2140 was on sale. It''s simple to set up, easy to use and the H/P free dial-up testing is a big help. No need to use a friend to see if the fax is working. Over-all we''re very pleased.

  • Avery Wizard Software for Microsoft Office allows you to easily import data from Excel, Outlook and more
  • Only Avery offers the Pop-up Edge for fast peeling - just bend the sheet to expose the label edge

We bought these to use on our save-the-date cards and wedding invitations, and they worked out great. Just the right size for regular envelopes, and the look was exactly what we were going for.

One suggestion if you''re not using the whole page of labels, and want to use the remaining labels later, take a piece of white paper, and tape it over the labels you are not using. The labels get darker every time you run them through the printer. It''s hard to notice on the page, but once you affix them to the envelope, they can look a bit dirty.

This size of address label has many uses. Of course, they can be used for addresses on packages and envelopes, but also as identification labels. I printed a sheet with my name, address and phone number to attach to things I take on vacation. The print on my inkjet printer was clean and crisp, the ink dried quickly (no smudging), the labels indeed do peel easily and I like the translucent background that works with many surfaces. Word 2010 had the format in its list of labels and each label was perfectly aligned. You can also download free templates from Avery''s web site.

These address labels are such time savers! I am getting married and was thinking about paying a lot extra to have the company print my return address on the backs of all the envelopes but figured I''d give this a shot before ordering. I''m so glad I did!

I thought figuring out how to line everything up on microsoft word would be a huge hassel but if you go to www.avery.com all you have to do is look up the labels you are purchasing and they provide a free download of "avery wizard" which allows you to simply input whatever addresses you need printed and configures microsoft word accordingly. It also has the option of either filling the whole page with the same address or putting a different address in each block. No hand writing a million addresses for me!

I have to give this product 3 stars because these labels are not "super clear" more closer to "clear-frost". My definition of "Clear" is, whether the envelope is pure white or colored, you should be able to apply this label and unless you catch the address at just the right angle, you may or may not see a glossiness where the label has been affixed.

Why is this such an important point?? Well, we used these labels for our wedding invitations and RSVP cards. We spent top-dollar on some premium cream-white envelopes and expecting the label to mostly vanish since it was clear, it did not. It leaves a "clear-frosted" solid-rectangle of the entire label. I''ve seen other types of "super-clear" labels and you can barely see the edge of the label and the rest of the "truly transparent" label simply vanishes, except for the printed address. These exact labels are not like that, they are not truly transparent. We felt the appearance "cheapend" our hard work on the invitations and premium envelopes we purchased. We felt it was somewhat false advertising for the ''clear'' part.

Also on the easy peel part, these labels were no easier to unpeel than any others we''ve used, in fact, all of the constant "easy peeling" somewhat crinkles the rest of the labels. The description for this product says, "... bend the sheet to expose the trademarked Pop-up Edge for fast peeling and fold the sheet back to flat" yea, do this 20 times and you''ll no doubt have crinkles in your other labels. So I somewhat disagree with the "easy peel" marketing.

So my rating of 3 stars is for my comments above, the rest of my review is to help out fellow Amazon-ers and is NOT related to the 3 stars above:

Note: if you are using these with standard white envelopes, yes you''ll be fine, just be forewarned if you use non-white envelopes.

I did ruin 2 sheets because they misfed, even though they were perfectly aligned in the paper tray, so I''m not blaming Avery, as it could have been the printer''s paper-feed mechanism. To save you from ruining a sheet, I found the best way is to select Manual Feed and print only ONE sheet at a time; do not load multiple sheets as they could get misfed. Once we loaded one sheet at a time, we were fine. I was careful not to force the paper into the paper-feed, rather, allow the printer to gently pull the individual page of labels.

I did use the 8660 code inside of Microsoft Word and the template of labels was a perfect fit when printed (and when I fed the labels correctly).

These labeels are easy to print and if you follow the avery formatting you have no prblems in using them. They do not distract from the envelope and can be used for multiple purposes.
