Randal the Flannel CamelI loved the Astrobright Envelopes from Wausau. I bought them to send copies of my new book for children called "Randal the Flannel Camel" to friends all over the country. At first I worried that they wouldn''t be strong enough to make it through the sorting process, but they worked out just fine. Everyone thinks the colors are great. Not easy to find until I look on Amazon.

These are nice, bright envelopes. They are good quality, made of quality paper stock, and look nice. They are sure to make a statement!

I looked everywhere for these. I bought some colored envelopes many years ago, and I kind of doled them out on a limited basis, but I finally ran out and have never been able to locate them again, not at Office Max, Office Depot, Wal Mart, or anywhere else. I really missed having some festive large envelopes, I love colors and I always think it brightens someone''s day to receive a pretty envelope.

I saw these and jumped on the chance to get two packs. Yay. They were shipped super fast with two other items I had purchased, and with the super saver shipping plus no taxes, it was a huge bargain.

The colors are VERY bright, and hopefully I can make these last for a while. Absolutely worth what I paid for them, and they are almost impossible to find in a mixed pack of colors anywhere else, and not even close in price. They are horribly expensive elsewhere, if you can even find them, plus when you DO locate them, they are usually from a wholesaler and they make you buy huge quantities of a single color at a time.

I am very happy with my purchase. Love ya, Amazon!!

Genuine HP 940 Inkjet 4 Color Combo Pack-Black/Cyan/ Magenta/Yellow
  • Get more for your money original HP cartridges ensure that your printing is right the first time and every time
  • Rely on HP for consistent, high-quality resolution
  • HP 940 inks are optimized for use with HP Advanced Photo Papers
  • Cartridge yield: approx. 1,000 pages Black, 900 Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow

(#1 Hall OF FAME REVIEWER)There''s nothing wrong with this cartridge, compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 printers. Except that it''s rated for only 900-1000 pages. For only a little more you can get the larger 940XL set. Why did buy this set then? Because I didn''t pay attention.

The 900-1000 pages rating is based on HP''s testing methodology meaning that it''s highly unlikely that you will get 1000 pages out of your cartridge unless all you do is print plain text. If you make copies, if you print photos, if you use the high quality settings you are going to run out of ink much sooner.

HP claims (couldn''t verify) that using Officejet inks on papers with the ColorLok logo the output will retain color quality ''for decades''. Such an ink/paper combination, according to HP, will produce documents that resist water and fading.

Which one to order? At the time I wrote this review I got more value by far with the larger cartridge but this set should be okay if you are not a heavy user.

I''m not sure what that other reviewer got but I can say that I received genuine HP packaging and genuine 940 B/W and Color cartridges. My HP officejet Pro 8500 had no trouble recognizing the ink. Even the printer read and identified the cartridge sensor as being a genuine HP cartridge. So far so good.

The print quality and features are good for a local printer, but it is useless over a network unless you constantly send it new print jobs to keep it awake.

After it sits idle for a while this printer puts itself to sleep to save power (although tests suggest that it doesn''t save very much power). The problem is that this printer CANNOT wake up from sleep mode. If you try to send it a print job after it goes into sleep mode, the print job will just time out because it cannot find the printer while it is asleep and it can''t wake the printer. As shown in Kodak''s own troubleshooting guide, the only way to wake up the printer is to walk to the printer location to manually turn the power off then turn it back on again. Once the printer restarts itself it will work fine -until the next time it does to sleep.

The latest firmware update finally gives you a way to choose how long the printer can be idle before it puts itself to sleep -but the choices only range from 1 hour to a maximum of 4 hours -there is no way to turn this "feature" off.

I''ve got the Kodak Office Hero 6.1 but Kodak tech support assures me that ALL Kodak all-in-one printers share one major firmware flaw -none of their printers can wake up from "sleep" mode without being manually reset from the printer control panel.

This is fine for a local printer where the power button is within arm''s reach of the computer but it makes the printer nearly useless as a network printer and totally useless for cloud printing unless you keep sending new print jobs to the printer to keep it from going to sleep.

Instead of calling it sleep mode, a better name would be "coma" mode or perhaps "brain dead" mode.

I just bought this from walmart last night had no problem with set up on 3 XP computers. I went to setup on my laptop with Windows 7 got the same message about the not detecting it but I ignored it. Went to print something and it still worked so I am not sure why it does that but so far it has printed every time and worked like a charm. Very good printer!

The printer itself, has worked fine. The only issue I have is with the ink. I do very little printing. I''ve had this printer less than 2 months, and I just had to order a 3rd ink combo pack! Printers I''ve had in the past, HP and Canon, I never had to change the ink more than twice a year. Believe the other reviewer''s that say you WON''T be saving any money on ink with this Kodak printer.

Kantek Height-Adjustable Stand with Drawer, 17 x 13 1/4 x 3 to 6 1/2 Inches, Black (MS420) Save 33% off

Kantek Height-Adjustable Stand with Drawer, 17 x 13 1/4 x 3 to 6 1/2 Inches, Black
  • Accomodates monitor, laptop, printers and fax machines
  • Extra large, sturdy 17 x 13 1/4 Inches platform
  • Raises monitor or laptop to a comfortable viewing level
  • Height adjustable from 3" to 6 1/2", in 1 1/4" increments.
  • Includes organizing drawer for paper, files, and supplies

It''s a computer stand that looks sharp when paired with a black monitor. I''ve only had it for a day but it looks well built and sturdy. The tray has a little resistance to pull out but it''s not an issue. If you''re worried about finding the right height up to 6 inches this is the tray for you. There is 4 separate pieces for each leg that connect together similar to Legos. This allows for the perfect height. Absolute 5 star product

This is a really great monitor stand. It''s built very sturdily no bowing whatsoever with my 27" monitor and several bowls of office supplies on top. The adjustable legs are great (I used all of them for maximum height). The drawer is very convenient for pens, notepads, and whatever random little items you have that would otherwise be cluttering up your desk.

The design of this stand is superior to most other designs for the following reason:

1. adjustable height in addition to just being common sense, if your office chair changes, or you decide you prefer reclining more or less, you will need this feature.

2. sturdiness of plastic this is very important because any bowing will affect the height and angle your monitor ends up assuming over time

3. large enough to fit laptop underneath make sure to check the dimensions of your laptop before buying a stand make use of that vertical space.

4. access to laptop from all four sides for ease of access to ports, power cables, etc.

5. drawer if you have to add six inches of height, again, you want to make use of that vertical space, and a drawer is an excellent way to do that.

My only problem with this stand is that the drawer doesn''t slide out smoothly, but a little graphite powder should fix that.

Highly recommend!!!

I used this stand for my Ham radio transceiver in order to have more room on my desk for papers, pens, books, etc. The drawer is very handy for storing supplies, microphone, and my headset. The adjustable height is a grea assest for too.

Want Kantek Height-Adjustable Stand with Drawer, 17 x 13 1/4 x 3 to 6 1/2 Inches, Black (MS420) Discount?

It''s a sturdy with typical keyboard plastic look so it will not seem cheap in an office. I liked the drawer even when it takes a little extra effort to open than a regular desk drawer, it doesn''t have rollers it slides plastic against plastic. Measure your laptop if you want to store it under it, most small laptops will fit, but if you have to open it to turn it on every day... you are in for some problems. Other than that I think it''s a good value tool. I''m not using it anymore, I gave it away to another person in the office that takes her laptop home everyday and he''s really satisfied since she turns the laptop first and then stores it. For the end of the day, she just turns it off and unplugs the laptop.

If you want it as a stand for a desktop, I don''t see any negative side on this item. Adjustable legs are easy to place or take off without compromising stability onces it''s set to desired position.

Save 33% off

This is a sturdy stand for a monitor and seems to be well built, but it is NOT 6.5" tall as advertised, which doesn''t make me happy. This stand measures only 6" tall, so this amounts to misrepresentation. Someone needs to learn how to measure, seeing that it''s not a hard concept.

Canon 4x6 Glossy Photo Paper Plus, 120 Sheets (PP-101)

Canon 4x6 Glossy Photo Paper Plus, 120 Sheets
  • For Canon printers that accept 4-by-6-inch paper
  • Prints borderless photos
  • Glossy finish for professional look
  • 120 sheets per package
  • 90-day warranty

I tested my new Canon i960 with a variety of papers. Like most printers, the output is much better when using the manufacture''s own paper (as opposed to the cheaper generic paper), but there is no need to buy the most expensive "Pro" paper as neither I nor my wife could discern ANY difference between the two. There may be a benifit to the "Pro" paper that cannot be seen (lasts longer?) but at almost twice the cost it is not worth it this paper will produce the highest quality prints on your Canon printer (I think they look better than the ones I get from the photo lab).

Buy Canon 4x6 Glossy Photo Paper Plus, 120 Sheets (PP-101) Now

If you own a Canon photo printer then you should not hesitate to purchase this paper.

I recently purchased a Canon i860 Photo Printer and ordered some of this paper along with it. Imagine my amazement while the printer spit out a lab quality photo (borderless) in under 45 seconds on this paper. And yes, it truly is the paper that makes the difference.

I have tried other companies paper in my printer and can not achieve the same results. Using my 5 MP camera, I am getting better than lab photos with this paper. Better photos, I''m not joking.

The paper holds the ink nicely, so your photo is dry the instant your pinter has finished its last pass.

I had friends up one evening, took their photo, uploaded the picture and they had a photo in their hands in under 2 minutes. Their eyes were amazed, and they were truly speechless at the quality of this paper.

Do not skimp on the quality, if that is what you are after in paper. This is the paper for you.

I have used both this photo paper and the photo paper pro, and i really cant tell a difference. I am using a canon mp730 (great multifunction printer if you are in the market btw) and the colors come out crisp and vibrant. The only thing you might notice between this and the really high end stuff is the texture of the print. It seems that this paper is ever-so slightly rougher than the really good stuff. If you are just making regular prints to share with family, I would get this stuff...if you are using it for professional shots or something that you would like to keep for a long time, i would get the higher end stuff.

This paper is absolutely amazing with my Canon printer! I was surprised to find that the color was accurate, the prints very clear, and the paper was dry once it came out of my printer. I even "test smudged" the paper and there was not one run, smudge, or ink left on my fingers (unlike my first attempt on the crappy generic paper) I''m definitely reordering this stuff for my photo printing needs :)

I bought a new Canon printer and tested out this paper (free sample came with printer). I tested it against Staples, Epson and HP paper and this is by far the best! The color quality is amazing and the finish on the paper is very smooth. Also, the ink dries almost immediately and leaves no sticky residue. Highly recommended and very much worth the price! I don''t think I''ll be using any other kind of paper again!

HP DeskJet 6127 Color Printer

HP DeskJet 6127 Color Printer
  • 4,800 x 1,200 optimized dpi color on premium photo papers
  • Built-in automatic duplexing
  • 20 pages per minute print speed, 13 ppm color
  • USB and Ethernet 802.3 interfaces
  • PC and Mac compatible

I thought long and hard about whether to give 4 stars or 5. I decided on 4 only because I''m not thrilled with the print area of this machine; always a half inch at the bottom no matter what. All other aspects are terrific. It is fast, quiet, and the duplexer is so very neat that you find yourself looking for things to print. And when I say fast, I do mean fast; in draft mode, the 6127 prints good quality at a remarkable rate. At "fast normal", the speed and quality are better than my old Epson Stylus 740. "Normal and Best" modes are slower, but still impressive. The addition of the 250 sheet paper tray would allow loading 2 different paper types, but it is quite expensive. Overall, I am very happy with this printer and would recommend it to anyone interested in a good buy.

If you have a home network, you NEED this printer! Images are fast and clean, and ink is widely available. Even photos look surprisingly good for this standard printer. (Only problem with photo printing is that it is not borderless). But where this printer really shines is that it connects directly to your Ethernet network. Any computer on your network can print to it. No extra hardware to buy, no flaky print-servers, no printer sharing headaches, and no special cables -just plug the Cat-5 wire directly into the printer and GO! (The confusing information about an "optional print server" is for a wireless network, which is totally unnecessary).

I have two computers and wanted to a network one printer for both. This proved to be the best solution! My only problem was that I run XP and forgot to shut off the firewall that blocks network activity. Once I got that sqaured away it worked like a charm! The print qulaity is excellent! Since each compuuter has a firewall product installed with the virus program there was no problem in turning off the built in XP one found in My Computer Properties.

Well thank you very much for taking my money. I am deployed and needed a printer to print pictures of my family. When I ordered your printer. I could not read all parts of the product comments that said use for parts only in the print out that came with my worthless printer. Thanks

I''ve had this printer for almost 2 years with absolutely no problems. The duplexer is great and the speed is excellent for an ink jet. I found that when used with the HP photo premium paper the 4 X 6 photos are quite good. In an age when printers come and go so quickly, HP is smart to continue to offer this model!

It''s good to have labels like this around. I have found three uses for them:

1) Mass-mailings such as when I am getting ready to mail out my Christmas Cards.

2) Regular mailing, when I need a big label such as sending a package to my favorite soldier, I simply change the settings on the Word file I use, and print an address that takes up two labels, and simply put them on together. (Don''t underestimate this, I really like it!)

3) Just need a sticker when I want to use a box to send goodies to my favorite soldier, I use a marker to go over any barcodes on the box and then put a sticker over that, to make sure that the Post Office''s scanners won''t try to read them.

So far, I have not had a single problem with putting these labels in my printer, which did worry me at first. Now, I use them with confidence. They are very handy to have around the house, and I am quite pleased with them!

I had Avery shipping labels before, then I went to these . Avery was obviously superior in paper quality and sticker quality. These are very thin it almost feels like just a normal sheet of paper. It''s also difficult to tell which side you''re supposed to be printing on. The sticker isn''t nearly as strong as the Averys, but I''ve never had a problem with them.

I used to use the Avery brand shipping labels but they were ridiculously expensive.

Eventually I discovered these no brand shipping labels and they aren''t the highest quality but they get the job done. After all, shipping labels only need to stay on the box and last through 2-3 days of shipping then it''s tossed away.

As others have stated, each seller may have a different source so depending on who you buy it from, you may not get the exact same shipping label, but should be close enough. I ordered mine from "StarRing" and their shipping labels are a little "whiter" than my last batch which were slightly more... "yellow". They feel about the same in terms of thickness (which is very thin compared to Avery) and both stick well.

The ONLY thing is that because these no brand shipping labels are thin, they will NOT cover any writings you may have on the box.

Another potential problem is if you print with an ink jet printer, the ink may smear. I only use laser printers and that''s not a problem.

I bought my labels from STARRING and I like this product. The labels work well for my HP printer. The 1000 labels are shipped in a box of 5 packages of 100 labels. Paper is white and medium thickness. Labels stick well and are easy to apply. I take one star off because they don''t have true block technology.

If you just need an average white label that sticks well, is easy to print on, cheap, and reliable I would recommend this label from Starring.

Want 1000 Half Sheet Laser/Ink Jet Shipping Labels Discount?

I usually pass on the high-cost of brand name shipping labels and just deal with the issues of going the economy route (sometimes regretting it). That being said, these are without a doubt some of the best "economy" labels we''ve used. We''ve been using them for about 2 weeks now and they run through both our laser and ink jet without a problem (no jams so far). The label stock is thick enough that it covers up existing markings / labels easily. Adhesive is strong and sticks to packaging well. In spite of the low costs, I do not consider these "economy" shipping labels.

We bought these from seller: Starring, and I would definitely purchase these again.

All sellers have different brands. just get yours from 975 supply and they will be good quality. I ordered by mistake from vine Branch and they were so cheap and terrible and completely unusable. They curled at the edges and the printer wouldn''t take them. I had to crumple them up to uncurl them. But the labels from 975 supply were nice. They even have the words "labels" printed on the reverse so you know which way to load them in the printer. It''s better to pay a couple extra dollars for labels you can use.

I think this is a good quality paper. I have used cheaper paper that sometimes smears after printing because the ink needs extra time to dry. The ink seems to dry pretty fast on this paper. I really cannot say if the quality of the printed image is better compared to other paper; I''m not an expert, but I am always happy with the way my documents look after being printed on this paper.

  • Free templates are available from avery.com
  • Print personalized cotton fabric to customize tote bags, pillows and quilts

Printable fabric sheets have been around for years, but improvements are being made every year. (There are STILL some really bad ones out there ...) Given the brand name recognition (Avery) and having had less than great results from similar products (I name only one below), I HAD to check out Avery Personal Creations Printable Fabric.

First Impressions:

1) The Product Itself: It is the stiffest fabric paper I have ever used. Instantly, I realized this could be both a huge plus and a big negative; this product is best suited for certain crafts (totes, framed pieces, scrapbooking, anything else where rigid is a good thing) and not for others (wearables, quilts, pillows)

2) The Image: For me, the single most important quality about printable fabric is the image reproduction. (Everything else I can work around, like fraying or thinness.) Granted, results can vary hugely, depending on your printer and the specific printer settings. When I used the "automatic" option for paper type and used the "best" quality option for printing, the end result using this Avery Printable Fabric was hands-down the very best I have ever seen.

Good Things To Know About This Product:

1) It is for Inkjet printers ONLY

2) There is no backing to peel off from the fabric sheet

3) It is Sew-in or Iron-on (unlike interfacings, this can be either/or); "Iron On" means ironing activates the glue, and NOT that this is an image transfer product that uses an iron to put the image on another surface

4) It''s available (currently) in only one color a pleasing white (some other brands offer off-white)

5) This is not an image transfer product

6) When Avery claims "washable", their instructions really state "for best results, hand wash"

7) As with similar products, you need to let the printed image dry for at least 24 hours; even then, some image smearing can occur from simple handling

Personal Tips from Prior Experience With Printable Fabrics:

1) Read/follow all manufacturer''s instructions; check website for more info/FAQs or reviews from other customers

2) Place only one sheet at a time in your printer

3) If not using the glue aspect, ie, you are sewing it in, keep in mind future ironing of the finished item the glue may adhere to parts of the project you never intended not good!!

4) If using color, try to use new/fresh color ink cartridge

5) ALWAYS do a test using plain printer paper first, to check for correct image placement, to test paper feed, and to test printer settings; know which is the image-side of the product (usually the matte side)

6) If applicable, keep seam allowances in mind

7) If using as an iron-on, make sure to PRESS and not really iron; both the fabric and thus the image itself can distort if you do too much side-to-side ironing. Just press the image with an up and down motion

8) Plan ahead for multiple projects; fit as many images as possible onto one sheet to make the best cost advantage

The Ultimate Test:

Unfortunately, the full test of this product will require months of time * and usage to determine:

1) how the image is retained and whether the fabric yellows over time. (I had to throw out several projects where I used Milliken''s Printable Treasures because the images yellowed horribly.)

2) how the finished product withstands several washings and ironings (read my notes about HAND washing and ironing above!)

* Update 10/1/2012: I am still thrilled with the color quality on my simple little project. (I will post a photo soon.) The colors are still rich and deep, just like the very first day of printing. Of course, my project is not washable that will be my next experiment, and I will post an update as to how that goes.

The Downside:

At the time of this writing, Avery has not answered user questions on their website that are over 6 months old. I mention this not as an indication of the product quality, per se, but in case you need more information. You might do better going elsewhere, such as guilds, discussion groups, online user reviews, etc. for answers to any questions.

The Bottom Line:

For some crafts where rigidity can be an asset, and for near-perfect image reproduction, these Avery Printable Fabric cotton sheets are ideal.

I love being able to do different craft items with my kids and when I saw this product, it seemed like it had interesting potential. I had used printable iron-on transfers before, and while they were fine for limited use, they just did not have the look I would want for some item, like a tote bag or apron.

This package is 5 sheets of printable cotton backed with heat seal fabric. The packaging says that you can sew this on also, but since I used the whole sheet at once, I didn''t see that happening. I decided to try the transfer on a canvas tote bag. I made my photo full-sized, did a draft quality test print on paper, and decided that it looked good. I then printed the picture onto the transfer at a higher quality set at normal paper setting. When it came off of the printer, I was surprised at how nice my picture printed. It had the look of a canvas painting, giving it a little bit of softness and texture without sacrificing the sharpness of the photo. I was very happy. I let the page sit overnight because the directions were not clear about how long the drying time should be, though it did not appear that it would smudge, even fresh from the printer. When I was ready to apply the transfer, I trimmed the little bit of the edge that was not printed on with a scrapbooking trimmer, though scissors would work fine. I then cropped the corners to round them. No problems, it handled just like heavy paper. Finally, I laid the tote bag on my ironing board, centered the transfer on the bag, and ironed it (no steam, cotton setting) for a minute or so, though it only calls for five seconds. The adhesive set nicely with no glue leaking out of the sides and no lumpiness. The edges adhered well, with no lifting. My kids were amazed that I''d made, not bought, the bag. We are very pleased with the results.

I could picture using this on other items like a canvas apron, a canvas storage cube, or the insert says album covers, pillows, quilts, etc. I would not be afraid to try this on a more meaningful project now that I saw how nice the results are and have a feel for the process. The directions say these are washable (you must wait 24 hours though) but you should apply to the surface before the surface has been washed. They recommend hand washing separately in cold water, no chlorine bleach, and lay flat to dry.

I would recommend this for a fun project with very nice results. I got quality results with ease of use. I was very pleased and impressed even though I frequently do projects like this.

I''m an avid crafter and was excited to discover this awesome new product. I''ve printed photos of my grandchildren and sewn them into pillows, carry-all bags and quilts. I also printed a favorite, inspirational poem onto this product and made a pillow for a good friend going through a hard time. She loves it. The project possibilities are as endless as your own wild imagination.

I will most definitely be buying more Avery Printable Fabric and highly recommend it whether you''re an experienced crafter or a novice. It''s as easy as printing on paper!!

I was really surprised with the finished product when using these sheets. The color looks great, it does not take long to dry after coming out of the printer and it seems to hold up well after applied to your project. You can do so much with these and cut the fabric in any shape or size that you can think of. You can use any graphic from your computer and the fabric can be applied to almost anything, so your possibilities are really endless to a degree. My daughters are always coming up with new things to do with this fabric. They can make patches to put on shirts or hoodies, jeans, old bags, everything. They can pick out any design or picture from the internet or from pictures they have storedon their computer and just make all sorts of things. It is a great way to get mor elife out of an older shirt that may have gotten a small hole or tear in it. Just whip up a graphic patch and slap it on over top of the damage and all is well! These are well worth the money when you think of how much you can do with a sheet.

I love this Avery Printable Fabric for Inkjet Printers. The fabric, coated with a fusible backing attached to paper that allows it to run easily through your printer, is exceptionally easy to use. Images print out in vivid color and as sharp as can be. Even small type is readable and photographs come out crystal clear. After printing, one peels off the backing paper and irons the image onto whatever--I have used it a lot on postcard-sized art quilts. The dye does not bleed even while you are heat setting it and the fusible bonds perfectly with your background fabric. This is one of the few printable fabric sheets that fuses well onto cotton (many transfers are designed for use with polyesters) and I have come to depend on it for many different applications. This is a great product--affordable too--and I hope they never stop making it.

(#1 Hall OF FAME REVIEWER)There''s nothing wrong with this cartridge, compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 printers. Except that it''s rated for only 1000 pages. For only a little more you can get the HP 940XL Officejet Black Ink Cartridge (C4906AN) which is rated for 2200 pages.

The 1000 page rating is based on HP''s testing methodology meaning that it''s highly unlikely that you will get 1000 pages out of your cartridge. If you make copies, if you print photos, if you use the high quality settings you are going to run out of ink much sooner but the fact remains that you do get a lot more ink in this cartridge than in the ''regular'' one.

HP claims (couldn''t verify) that using Officejet inks on papers with the ColorLok logo the output will retain color quality ''for decades''. Such an ink/paper combination, according to HP, will produce documents that resist water and fading.

Which one to order? At the time I wrote this review I got more value by far with the larger cartridge.

HP Q3112A ScanJet 4600 See-Thru Flatbed Scanner

HP Q3112A ScanJet 4600 See-Thru Flatbed Scanner

As an avid scrapbooker and scrapbook business owner, scanning images that are "lumpy and bumpy" is next to impossible and believe me, I''ve tried every possible scanner out there. One of HP''s ScanJet''s did the trick for a while but it took up a majority of my desk. NOW I have a scanner that allows me to scan all my "lumpy and bumpy" objects with ease. Having a tough time finding something to scan something larger than 8x10? That''s alright! This scanner comes with stitching software that gives PERFECT, SEAMLESS stitching. Awesome, awesome scanner. The best part is that I can stand it upright and store it beside my monitor so that I have more room for .... well .... more junk on my desk! :)

I have just purchased this scanner with trepidation, given the bad reviews it''s received here. Yet, it has been highly rated by other consumer reporting websites. After being burned by Visioneer''s technical support (2+ hours wait period, then asked to call back the following day), I decided to give HP ScanJet 4600 a chance. Falling prices have made this unit much more affordable.

I had no issues with installation using WinXP, SP2. I found that it scans text, illustrations, and newspaper print (post-edited with bundled stitching software) very well. I use third party software for image-editing and OCR. Therefore, I cannot comment on the performance of included software other than the stitching software, which was very easy to use for obtaining a quality image. This machine is also portable enough to take to libraries to scan materials such as newspapers and books (where the book binding isn''t prohibitive). For me, this is a big plus. It''s lightweight and much thinner than other bulky scanners, which would be a burden to carry. It scans items face up or face down and is detachable from it''s horizontal base. This is a bonus for scanning items like maps or oversized books. In addition, it takes up little space when stored vertically.

I have scanned few photos, as this was not my primary purpose for purchasing a scanner. I found that the scanning surface must be cleaned with lens towels prior to glossy photo scanning to remove all dust particles, which will show up in images. If archiving photos were my primary scanner purpose, I would recommend selecting a different scanner, because post-scan editing is required to return some images to more natural hues.

I will say that while scanning one book, I did see black and white banding at the crease, which is analogous to how loss of focus occurs when photocopying books near the crease. I found that the binding must be pressed such that the book was flush against the scanning surface. If one plans to scan many books where the binding holds the book tightly closed, then you may have problems with this product.

All in all, this product works very well for my purposes as well as appealing aesthetically.

Scans of various drawings and paintings done with the HP Scanjet 4600 exhibit alternating light and dark bands parallel to the direction of the scan. The bands vary in intensity depending on the color or value of the area being scanned. This problem showed up on two samples of the scanner. HP has been of no real help in solving this problem and I have returned both samples. The design is ideal for scanning large items but, unfortunately, the bands make the product useless.

Granted, this is a great scanner and an inventive design. For me, however, the design screams to be used in a mobile fashion. After all, the unit is touted as a great scanner for large or unwieldy items (as opposed to a strictly desktop scanner, for instance). In my case, I was looking to use it for copying from books for use in research. If you have tried copying from a book on a flatbed scanner, even one with an expandable lid, you''ll know the difficulty involved. With the 4600, one can effectively crop the book in realtime, eliminating the guesswork. BUT, imagine my surprise to learn that the scanner comes with a wall wart AC transformer! The addition of a power adapter significantly undercuts the 4600''s utility as a mobile scanner (e.g.--books in a library). As an owner of a usb-powered Canon flatbed scanner, it didn''t even occur to me that the 4600 would be different. Note that the marketing materials leave the impression that the 4600 is usb-powered. It touts a "combination usb/AC cable", a phrase that is certainly open to interpretation. In this case, it isn''t even true: at some point, the "combination cable" _must_ split into a piece leading to the pc and a piece leading to the AC adapter. What is the advantage in this??? Also, the marketing materials cryptically list among the contents this line: AC adapter (where applicable). What does this even mean? A big thumbs down to HP for crippling a potentially great scanner, and attempting to hide its true identity. It''s great as a desktop scanner, but there are loads of competitors that are cheaper in that class.

This is the best scanner I have used so far. Though I have only used it for scanning in book pages (with pictures) and documents and not photographs. It is very easy to use and the software worked fine on my XP SP2. I like the see through feature, you can see the area that is being scanned. Also it is much easier to handle than other scanners so you''ll scan much faster. I just place the scanner over the book pages I need to scan and not the other way round. Overall I was very pleased.

I was a little worried at first when I ordered this label printer. I sell on eBay and use the PayPal multi-order shipping tool. I was not sure if this model (450 turbo) would be compatible. They list the former model (400/400 turbo) I emailed PayPal and they assured me this would in deed work with their system. I have been using the label printer for a couple months now with no issues! When using the PayPal shipping I just have to select Dymo 400 turbo before printing. I ordered label 99019 and they are perfect for printing address, postage and confirmation all on one label. The labels print in seconds! It has saved so much time and I know that in no time at all the price of the printer will be made up for in the money I will save on paper, ink and packing tape! Set-up was easy. I have been told the included software is no good, but I printed a return address label just to try it and it seems pretty easy.

The physical printer is great. I love being able to print an address label and then ten seconds later do a stamp without having to switch rolls of paper.

I just spent the last half hour trying to figure out how to print postage to mail a book. I could not find the option to print $2.77 worth of postage (for a media mail package), no matter how hard I looked. And then I learned, from the DYMO website, that despite the listing for this item stating that we can, "Print USPS® approved DYMO Stamps® postage directly from your desktop -no monthly fee, contracts or commitments required," printing is limited to First Class, Priority Mail, Postcard and International Air Mail postage.

What this means is that if you want to print postage for packages you must pay $9.95 per month $99.95 per year. Something that is not mentioned in the product page.

That said, the printer works great, and otherwise lives up to its billing.

My fiance needed a receipt printer for her new business. When I first started looking, I had found only "true" POS-style receipt printers costing $300+. Knowing that receipt printers are simply overpriced thermal printers, I decided to look for thermal printers not billed as receipt printers. I dont know why I didnt think of Dymo first! This is a great product that is designed with label and postage printing in mind, but Dymo sells continuous thermal receipt paper rolls for it as well. This turns out to be the most cost efficient thermal receipt printer on the market, IMO. This is exactly what I was looking for. Only 4 stars, because I dont want Dymo to think theres no room for improvement.

I bought this Labelwriter because my old Dymo label printer was not compatible with the latest version of Mac OS. I tried today to print from an imported list and couldn''t get it to work and had to contact Dymo support. In there own words I was told "the labelwriter itself, yes is compatible however the feature that you are trying to use in the software is not. The Import Data will not work. The developers have tried it with both versions and haven''t been successful with it. Now it you want to try the version 8.4 I was informed that you may be able to import but it''s only going to allow you to print 1 label. Which will probably be a waste of your time." I am going to request a refund from Dymo and I will update this review if and when I get it. For now, don''t buy a Dymo label printer if you have a Mac and want to print from a list instead of one label at a time.

Turbo is a great name for this label writer. It is fast! Wish I''d known there was a dual version available where I could have had regular labels and postage labels loaded at the same time. If you''re looking at this labeler check out the dual version before you make a decision to buy. Overall, it is a great labeler, fast, sleek, easy to change labels.

This is perfect for printing cards to various kids'' birthday parties the kids appreciate getting their name and customized pictures/messages on the cards, and it''s cheaper for you. That being said, it could be cheaper, since you could just download the free software from Avery.com for card printing, and print on regular white paper. The colors won''t be as vivid (this paper does bring out the images beautifully), but really I don''t think your audience cares all that much, especially since the card is folded in a quarter-fold anyway so they can see it''s printed at home. I probably won''t buy any more unless the price drops to about $5-6 (with free Amazon Prime shipping), and instead will just print with the software on regular printer paper. Envelopes are included for the 20 card papers.

I do not have the bucks to spend $3-5.00 on a single greeting card. I feel that store purchased cards do not reflect me. I would rather spend the time and create my own greetings card. Shopping for card stock, for the most part does not provide me with the quarter fold cards at stores like Staples, etc. If I do find them, they are much more expensive than purchasing through Amazon. I do most of my online shopping through these guys, and do love it.
