I got this printer free with my MacBook and it''s looking more and more like that''s about what it''s worth. I might have given it two stars but admittedly I am writing this after spending the past 25 minutes dealing with an apparently unsolvable paper jam. As another review noted, this printer got to the end of the paper supply and after that it was more jams than Hot 97. Yes, I would have loved to purchase a more advanced, particularly wireless, printer/scanner/copier, but pricewise this was not an option for me...maybe later. I am extremely pleased with the product output and speed, the quality of scans images later produced from them were exceptional, and the ability to insert media cards into this HP PhotoSmart C4480 machine. PhotoSmart products are the way to go at the moment and based on numerous reviews in top PC magazines these often rank rather highly in comparison to other similar products. The little LCD preview/guide screen is...little, but satisfactory, particularly for the price. I definitely got a quality product for what I paid for and have not had the troubles of paper jams or negative issues mentioned in the other reviewers testimonials. As with all inkjets, the only negative is the cost of replacement cartridges. Based on personal experience with a previous, rather old HP inkjet printer (lasted 7 yrs!!! impressive as it too was a cheaper model that performed extremely well for the first 6 yrs and when I had no choice to go with Windows Vista ugh due to an older computer literally dying on me sad), I will NEVER use refilled or those cartridges from other vendors. HP inkjet cartridges are the best, but are way too expensive for what I am sure they really cost. Wish there was a way to encourage HP to decrease the cost of cartridges if so, I am sure more people would purchase HP inkjet/laser jet products in abundance. Until then, we HP lovers have to suffer these costs...so buy the cartridges from Amazon and in the size with extra ink for savings. This printer makes better jams than Smuckers! About the 10th time I tried to clear it, a piece of plastic fell out of the guts of tis printer. It is a dog! A complete waste of money and time! Flee!

I can highly recommend the Epson 1400 printer for its outstanding quality of prints with sizes up to 13 inches wide. It is the least costly of the 13 inch wide format printers especially with the rebate Epson offers. The inks are Claria high definition inks which work especially well on glossy paper with an estimated lifetime of up to 100 years. I purchased the 1400 in 2007. At first, it worked well. Then the problems started when it started to ask for new cartridges before the old ones were spent (I had hardly used it). I bought original Epson cartridges (which are VERY expensive, $120 the set) and the printer would still think the cartridges were empty (they were in fact new). After much haggling with Epson, they agreed to send me a refurbished one. Same story. It worked well for 3 months, until it asked for cartridge replacements. I was certain that the old ones still had ink, but I bought new (legitimate) cartridges again. The printer never recognized them and insisted they were empty. I called Epson again and they said that now my printer is out of warranty (which is counted from time of original purchase, never mind the refurbished one was sent only 3 months ago) and the only option they give me is to send it to a repair center (fully at my cost). While a bit on the big side because of its large format printing, it is a very nice printer. The quality of printing is excellent with its Claria inks. Text printing is speedy for an inkjet while photo print speed is actually quite reasonable considering its size. Price is less expensive than some of the other comparable printers but inks are very pricy in my opinion (each cartridge is $20). This is where Epson really makes its money. Everyone knows that when you buy a printer, you are buying the inks and getting a free printer for the most part. A set of inks for this printer cost $120 retail... yow.... at least they give you the 079 ink cartridges which is the big brother to the 078... same size, just more ink in them. Now I know why generic cartridge manufacturers are so popular with the Epson crowd.

Mostly I like this printer--and I loved being able to print wirelessly so I didn''t have to have that cord laying across my desk. But half the time (or more) my computer says it''s offline and nothing happens. I turn it off and on and sometimes that fixes it, at least after several tries. Yet at other times it prints effortlessly. Maybe there''s a setting that needs to be changed with the printer, laptop, or router but the deceptively named HP Diagnostics software says everything is fine even when the printer isn''t printing. So now I''ve given up on the wireless printing and have the cord stretched across my desk again. This printer is absolutely miserable to install. During the installation, it gives you the ability to have it work both via USB as well as wireless. This option has never worked. Runs through ink, doesn''t recognize paper in the tray... there''s got to be something better out there that you need. Sometimes products are heavily discounted for a reason.
Over a period of years my business has owned several HP multifunction machines that have had moderate use. Previously the software was troublesome. This time, HP finally got it right. By far this is the best multifunction machine I have ever owned. From previous experience, I use this machine as a network printer. The software has been installed in over eight computers without a hitch. This has never happened before. The machine itself prints great and scans so efficiently that I have embarked on a couple of projects that did not make sense with the old equipment.

I give the printer 5 stars because the pictures printed are beautiful. I have owned many printers over the years and this one blew me away. I totally recommend this printer. I do want to make mention that the ink cartridges "fequently bought together" are not the correct cartridges. I purchased these because of the recommendation and had to return.I am really impressed with this printer from Canon. It scans, prints, copies, prints 2-up, prints CD/DVD disks, etc. The included software is impressive and it is very compact for all-in-one device. It can be operated wireless or direct connect. I have it USB-connected to one computer and wireless to another plus an iPad. Easy set-up on both mac (os lion) and pc , great photo quality for this price range (on par with going to a Walgreens/Costco to develop). Make sure u go to the canon printer website to check out the specs. Amazons site isn''t that great at providing what computers and processors this is compatible with.

This worked great the first 6 months... other than I can NEVER get 40 prints from the cartridges as stated. Now it is not printing as clear, leaving odd discolor on the prints. I used the cleaner and no difference. I also hate that it often will not grab the paper and will pop up as out of paper when it is not. When I bought this overpriced item in December I was intially very pleased by the quality of the photos. However, the cartridges are very expensive and the paper tray is already warped. Tonight when I was trying to print the paper jammed so completely that I cannot get it out. I figure I paid over $300 for probably fewer than 100 prints.

I purchased this paper for it''s parchment look and heavy weight. I used it to make the programs for my upcoming wedding and they turned out great! I used a laser jet printer, (only problem here was I had to print one at a time as the card stock is so thick any more than one page at a time would get stuck in the printer) cut out hearts (two per sheet) and glued the two sheets of paper together onto a popsicle stick to make my programs into fans for our guests, as we''re getting married outside at the beginning of September. I used this cardstock for most of the paper products needed for our wedding (everything but the invitations and save the dates). We used it for programs, welcome letters, escort cards, table numbers, menus, and favor tags. It was easy to use in my home inkjet printer, didn''t smudge, and held both black and color inks beautifully. I tried it in my office''s laser printer, and it did smudge. I don''t know if that was the fault of the cardstock (which is smooth), or the printer. But since it''s easy enough to do at home (especially with the replacement ink I also bought on Amazon), I didn''t mind doing everything at home. It''s a nice weight that holds up just fine for uses like table numbers (they weren''t in a frame, just the card itself in a holder), and folds nicely (I used a bone folder, but probably could have just used a ruler) for the programs and welcome letters.
