I was happy with this paper until I got the Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss paper and it can not compare. Good value at Costco which used to sell it in a pack of 100 for $20 but for eye popping results go with Canon or Ilford glossy paper. More expensive but you get what you pay for.

I shot about 4.000 pictures within the last 3 months and printed over 1.200 of them. What paper do I use? This is one! It is my absolute favorite! Not only do I achieve an unbelievable color accuracy and picture quality but also the price is unbeatable! Sure, there are papers out there that are thicker and have a glossier finish but why would you want pay twice as much for that? Or more importantly, why do you need thicker paper and a glossier finish? 50 sheets for about $15 is as good as it gets! Generally I recommend Epson paper over HP, Kodak and Canon. Stay away from Staples and Hammermill paper. I use a HP 7760 printer and a Sony F717 camera.

I use this photo paper to make flip calendars. It is the only product I''ve found so far that allows me to print glossy photos on one side and the calendar on the back side. The only problem I''ve had is that the photos tend to fade overtime.

I printed quite a few pictures for my daughters and after 3 to 4 months the color faded so fast you can barely see the pictures any longer. I have used the HP 4X6 paper and this has never happened with HP.

We''ve purchased various brands of shipping thermal labels in the past and have never had ones that were so poor in quality as these. They look very grainy and are hard for the bar code scanner to scan for USPS shipping, basically this makes them unusable. I would be willing to consider it possibly being the machine but since it started once we used these labels its quite clear its not the machine (especially since its thermal and not ink based)

We''ve sent a return request to the company and we''ll see how well they do customer service, I hope its better than the product but I''m not holding my breath.

Good labels wrote a review from wrong person at first on these claiming these were bad but in fact these were the good ones. And for those who say say they don''t work not sure what they are talking about this guy does sell good ones maybe your printer settings need to be adjusted darker or something.

Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper LUSTER (S041406) Save 36% off

Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper LUSTER
  • Ultra premium luster photo paper for ink jet printers.
  • The same type of luster paper traditionally used by wedding, portrait and fine-art photographers for their work.
  • Accurate colors and rich, bold blacks for vivid, lifelike images.
  • Instant drying.

Great print results BUT the 11.7 x 16.5 size which is a common size overseas makes it impossible to find a decent portfolio or even affordable sheet protectors. Currently Amazon has one set of A3 protectors selling at 25 for a 10 pack. That''s nuts. Your only option then is to cut the paper (not always a clean result with luster) or buy an oversized book that leaves your prints swimming.

I have printed on this paper with an Epson 3800 and 4000, and the print quality is great. Even black and white looks fantastic, and there is a minimal amount of bronzing. If you can afford Silver Rag, go with that, but this paper is very nice.

These photo papers are absolutely the best when it comes to quality printing that you want to last! I tried an experiment on the premium luster paper by setting a water glass that was sweating on a photograph I had printed and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. I then removed the glass, blotted the water up and let it dry. When it was completely dry there was barely any sign of a water ring...infact I had to really examine the paper to see the tiny mark that was left behind.

Samsung CLP 300 Mini Personal Color Laser Printer

Samsung CLP 300 Mini Personal Color Laser Printer
  • Portable and robust color laser printer
  • Up to 2400x600 dpi print resolution
  • Prints up to 17 ppm black and up to 4 ppm color
  • Speedy USB 2.0 connectivity
  • Easy toner changes and quiet operation

I''ve been looking pretty hard at the sales flyers over the last few months waiting for a chance to score a color laser printer at a price range that doesn''t make me have to eat bag lunches for a month to catch up. A local office superstore had two models I was eying, an HP 1600 and this one. They seemed pretty similar in most regards until dropped the CLP-300 100 dollars below the HP. It was time to grab the bargain.

This is the second Samsung laser printer I have in my home office now, the first one being the little ML-1740. I''ve had that one for better than a year now and it has been wonderful. So I wasn''t afraid to try the Samsung CLP-300 because its name isn''t as big as HP''s. So I get it home and commence to setting it up. As with the earlier ML-1740, it took about 5 minutes to unpack, route cables, plug in the toner packs, and fire it up. It didn''t skip a beat and had a test page done in a jiffy. Drivers for the computer went just as easily. Overall a very, very simple set up.

Back to the toner "packs" (or cartridges) for a bit... I don''t think I''ve ever seen a more simple toner system. This system is literally easier to deal with than inkjet cartridge replacement. The front cover of the printer opens to reveal 4 "holes" for the toner cartridges. Simply remove the protective covers from the 3 color cartridges and 1 black cartridge and pop them into their respective holes. This has to be a step forward for the laser printer world.

Anyway, I''ve only had this for about a week but have put maybe 200 pages through it already. It works like a champ and I''m really happy I picked it up. I''ll list below some of the pros and cons as I see them (in no particular order):

Pros:

* Low noise when printing... very low noise actually. Its little more than a light whirring sound.

* Fast printing (about 20 to 25 seconds to the first high quality print and very fast once started).

* Great drivers giving you good printing options like double sided printing, booklet printing (on long or short side of page), watermarks, pre-generated letterhead, ability to print multiple pages per sheet, ability to print posters, etc... ...way too much to list here.

* Decent color photo prints. The quality isn''t quite up to the photo quality of the better inkjet photo printers, but its good. And it certainly isn''t poor enough to be a negative. I''d say though that if your primary goal is photo prints you might want to compare some other higher priced models before settling on this one. Otherwise, this should suit you fine.

*Size... it fits perfect on my printer stand. This doesn''t over power the room by being overly bulky. Its not too much bigger than the ML-1740 and way smaller than its older sibling the CLP-510 (I liked the built in duplexing on the 510 but wasn''t too crazy at all about its size).

Cons:

* Power... it seems like it uses quite a bit more than the little ML-1740 (no surprise I''m sure) because my battery backup makes a click every few minutes like a brown out spike happens. The ML-1740 makes the lights flicker on occasion but had no effect on the UPS. On a related note however, this printer has a user adjustable power saver mode that puts it to sleep after a set number of minutes.

* Low paper capacity. Only about 150 sheets in the paper tray. But its easy to remove and fill and I doubt I''ll ever print more than that in a sitting.

* No front auxiliary feed tray (like the ML-1740) for feeding various sized papers into the machine. The CLP-300 does take various sized papers but you have to use the paper tray.

* Power switch in the back. The ML-1740 had this set up too. How hard can it be to put the switch on the front or even the front side to make it more accessible. Better yet, let the unit be powered on and off automatically by software like some other printers can do. The switch all the way in the back, on the bottom, is not a deal breaker but its an aggravation that I wish Samsung would address in their future models.

* Toner amount... Here''s something I''m not sure will be an issue or not in the long run but right now I''m a bit concerned. The toner packs are small. The color ones are a bit smaller than a styrofoam cup while the black one is about as large as a typical ceramic coffee mug but a bit taller perhaps. The technical papers say you''d get about 1000 sheets of color printing per color. I''ll edit this review in a few months with my impression of how true that appears to be. The silver lining to this issue might be that the toner packs are cheaper than the typical toner cartridges for other laser printers. And also, according to the Samsung website, this printer is supposed to be cheaper to operate in the long than other printers. A cent or two here or there adds up I guess.

So my score of 4 out of 5 stars represents the above pros and cons and my experience so far with this printer. Its not a perfect 5 because there is room for improvement but its a very nice printer that is great to have. And for the price, there is no reason why every home can''t have color laser printing now. I can still remember when inkjets were replacing the dot matrix printers... move over inkjets, here we go again.

*** Follow Up Edit: 24oct06 (original post 9oct06)***

I''m coming up on a month now of useage and haven''t had a problem yet. I would like to add to my comment made above though regarding the quality of the photo prints ... I''ve done a bunch of pictures so far and I would again encourage people who are looking predominantly for a picture printer to look at a level a bit higher than this one. For what I do, this is fine, but folks looking for photo quality printing would likely find this a bit lacking.

Also, along with the photos and numerous web pages, I''ve printed several good sized PDF documents with a lot of illustrated graphics and the toner indicators in my printer monitor (the software) shows negligible toner use. I can''t confirm this by sight or weight of the toner packs themselves but if the indicators are correct, I''m happy with the mileage I''m getting so far.

*** Follow up edit: 14oct11

Just wanted to mention that I still have my ol'' trusty 300. Still works as good as it did the day I got it. I would have expected it to be feeding poorly or producing bad quality prints but its working fine. Granted, its only a casually used printer and outside of a few big projects here and there its only used when I need color. I''d upgrade but so long as the toner is cheaper than a new printer I''ll keep it until it croaks.

Buy Samsung CLP 300 Mini Personal Color Laser Printer Now

After much soul searching (and many futile review searches), I decided to take the plunge and purchase a CLP-300. I''ve been wanting a color laser for a few years, mainly because of frustration with the slowness of color inkjets and the fragility of the prints, especially when they get wet. Even though this printer is at the bottom end of the laser speed range when it comes to color prints, it still outpaces my inkjet by a large margin.

Hardware setup was painless, both mentally and physically. It''s not a light printer by any means, but I had little difficulty moving it, unlike most color laser printers that practically need a forklift. After removing four pieces of strapping tape and a piece of cardboard, it was ready to put in place, connect up, and load toner cartridges and paper. One little detail that impressed me about toner cartridge loading is that the cartridges are keyed, with each cartridge having a ridge in a different location along its circumference fitting into a slot along the edge of the corresponding cartridge hole on the printer, which means that you cannot easily insert a cartridge in the wrong hole. The paper tray uses a sliding length adjustment mechanism to accept just about any paper size up to legal size. There is no manual feed slot, so the paper tray has to be used for that purpose, which means that a lot of paper shuffling has to be done to print on cardstock, envelopes, etc.

Software setup was almost as painless. I had previously downloaded the Mac OS X driver from Samsung''s web site to make sure that it is CUPS-compliant like Samsung''s other recent drivers, thereby allowing me to connect the printer to my Belkin print server and saving me the expense of buying the ''N'' version. I added the printer as an IP Printer, specifying "Line Printer Daemon LPD" as the protocol and specifying the IP address, queue, printer name, and selecting the driver from the "Print Using" popup. The driver provides options for Paper Type, Quality (Draft [600x600 dpi], Normal [1200x600 dpi], Best [1200x1200 dpi]; the dpi numbers were gleaned from the driver''s PPD file) and Color Mode (Color, Grayscale), as well as supporting manual feed printing. Even though the Mac driver doesn''t directly support manual duplexing, it can be accomplished by printing even pages back-to-front, reloading the pages, and printing odd pages front-to-back (I have defined two presets in the Print dialog for this purpose). For duplexing jobs of only a few pages, I set paper handling to print the first page automatically and subsequent pages manually and then I stand at the printer, reloading pages as necessary and pressing the feed button for each page after the first.

In the context of the intended audience (personal and home office users), the print quality is quite good. Solid-colored areas are continuous with no apparent banding and the blacks are sufficiently dark. Colors are fairly accurate, but the range of available shades is somewhat lacking, which means that color gradients appear with obvious lines where the colors change rather than being smooth. On the other hand, sharp detail prints very well. Dithering is also evident, although it''s not nearly as bad as I expected and is really quite acceptable for my purposes.

The only real complaints I have about the printer are the lack of an automatic duplexer option, the lack of a manual feed slot, and the fact that the driver is a PowerPC-only application, which means it renders more slowly on my Intel-based MacBook Pro than it conceivably could if it were a Universal application. I can understand the first two shortcomings from the standpoint of keeping the size and cost down, but not supplying a Universal driver at this point in time is inexcusable.

All in all, I am very pleased with this printer in the week or so that I''ve owned it and would highly recommend it to home users wanting the advantages of a color laser printer in a compact package. Serious business users should look elsewhere. Note: My rating is based on the rank of this printer compared to others in its class and doesn''t necessarily mean that it will fare as well vs. high-end business printers.

I have owned this printer for 5 months. In that period, it has been operating about half that time. After 3 months of initial use, probably under 500 pages, the "transfer belt" failed. Solid red lights on the status display, nothing more. Samsung customer support is very cumbersome. Even if you registered on their website, you are required to scan & email your proof of purchase, and then you receive an email designating how to contact them. It takes days. When you call, you get a rep who walks you through scripts (at least they sounded like a native English speaker). It took about an hour, and they are only open 9 to 5 weekdays. Some of the troubleshooting requires removing parts from the inside of the printer, and the rep seemed uncertain on the procedure to be followed. It didn''t work, so on to another tech. Tech #2 offered to send a replacement transfer belt, saying it was "a common failure for these printers". He wouldn''t guarantee it would work, but that''s the only option, no return unless I tried this. Fortunately, it worked...but failed again in 2 months. So I am back at the email stage, waiting.

There is a reason that these printers are being discounted everywhere you look. Too bad, the small footprint and decent color output, consumable cost and speed are good features.

I purchased the Samsung CLP-300 to replace an Epson 740i inkjet that''s been in service for many years. My motivations for getting a color laser printer instead of an inkjet:

* Low cost per page, which is common to every laser printer

* Small size I do not want the printer taking up much physical space

* Quiet it must be silent in standby mode, and when printing its sound must not aggravate people sleeping in a nearby room like the Epson 740i did

* Mac compatibility

The Samsung plays nicely with my Mac Mini running Mac OS X 10.4.8. The drivers install quickly; one quick installer program, open up the Printer Setup Utility, and the printer was recognized as a CLP-300. Printer Features are fairly basic, with Quality choices of Draft, Normal, and Best, and a separate seting for Color or Grayscale. There are also 13 different paper types: Plain Paper, Thick, Thin, Bond, Color Paper, Card Stock, Transparency, Labels, Envelope, Preprinted, Cotton, Recycled, and Archive Paper. I have only used recycled copy paper with it, and it prints just fine on Plain Paper setting. Built-in Mac OS X print sharing works great, and from what I''ve read, this printer is CUPS-friendly and can be shared on a network via an Airport Express.

While I am unsure about the title "World''s Smallest Color Laser Printer," this is surely a small machine, though bigger than color inkjets. The printer is silent when in standby mode, and the little noise it makes when printing is pretty peaceful. I wish my freshman roommate in college had this printer in our dorm room the night he printed 100 pages at 3:00 am; its much quieter and calmer than an inkjet. Since this is my first laser printer in a home environment, I''m not sure how it compares to other printers noise-wise, but it is certainly quiet when printing even in my quiet environment (quiet Mac Mini).

The design truly is nice. Loading toner is totally user friendly. This is the easiest way to replace ink / toner I have seen on any machine, ever. There is no mucking about near the drum or any other sensitive parts, and placing the toner packs into their slots is really foolproof. Note: shake the toner packs when you get them. This is noted in the manual and in the setup guide, but it is a step that could be easily forgotten.

Plugging a laser printer into a battery backup (UPS) system is not recommended, since most laser printers exceed standard load levels of UPS systems. This is because a laser printer''s fuser uses a large, fast pulse of power, and the UPS cannot supply this to many laser printers.

So far, having had this printer for three weeks in light usage, it has done everything I want of it. Recommended!

Many people had problems with paper jam on the CLP 300, so I just want to share a quick fix that helped me and my friend.

Since this IS a review, I''ll quickly mention that I bought this printer a year ago for the occasional printing need and still haven''t gone through the initial toners yet. So far so good, decent quality and speed, quiet and small. I''m happy with it. If not for the paper jam issue, this is a great printer as I''ve seen it on sale for about $150 in many occasions.

Both me and my friend''s CLP 300 had trouble picking up paper from the paper tray, so to fix the problem, you need to first take the paper tray out and empty it. At the front of the paper tray and you''ll find a ramp responsible for lifting your stack of paper onto the feeding mechanism. What you''ll need to do is to remove this ramp by stretching the side of the tray and poping out the plastic ramp. Underneath the ramp you''ll see the two springs responsible for holding the ramp up. Simply stretch the springs until they''re 3/4 inch longer than the original length, and snap the parts back together. Now there should be enough friction for the rubber roller to prevent any more paper jams.

HP C8242A Compact Carrying Case for Deskjet 450 Series Printer

HP C8242A Compact Carrying Case for Deskjet 450 Series Printer
  • CASE FOR DJ 450 MOBILE PR

I read the review about the size of the case after my order was placed and I was prepared to be disappointed. I found, however, if I pushed the printer into the top of the space and installed the velcro attached pad along the bottom of the printer, there was still plenty of room for all the power cords etc to lie at the bottom of the case (in the handy pouch that came with it). If you try to put the printer at the bottom, which would make more sense, you''re out of luck. The fact that the fit is counter-intuitive and there are no instructions cost this nice sturdy case one star.

This is an addition to the above review. If I could figure out how to give the fifth star back, I would. The lady that I gave this case to had her luggage left out (by Delta) in a hard rain for about 2 hours. Everything was soaked including this case, but the printer was dry and protected. This is great protection for the price!

What good is a portable printer if you can''t tote it around conveniently? This HP C8242A Compact Case allows me to carry the printer, cables, and even a bit of paper along with me wherever I go.

The good: There''s ample room to carry the printer and all the accessories I need. They also reserve half of the case to carry your notebook.

The bad: I have a 15.4" notebook which doesn''t fit in the case so that side of the case is empty (which causes it to flop over unless it''s leaned up against a wall). I elected to put a 1/4 ream of paper into that side to even out the weight.

All in all it was a worthy investment and I''m happy with the purchase.

I purchased this for my Deskjet 460C so I would be able to transport my printer and have it padded and protected-no way would it fit with the padding in place. Why bother with a case when a backpack will offer just as much protection for the printer. Maybe it shouldn''t be recommended for this particular printer.

Want HP C8242A Compact Carrying Case for Deskjet 450 Series Printer Discount?

If you have HP''s DJ450 mobile printer, this case is terrific. It''s compact and offers very good protection in a contemporary design.

The newer and slightly larger HP DJ460 printer has a different curve that makes the case too snug in width.

One of the other reviewers noted padding could be removed from the case to allow space for the larger printer, but please consider that does decrease protection for the printer.

I bought for my boss to better mobilize him while traveling. It was sent out quickly, and the quality of the product is top notch!

I use these labels to send out official mailings (Is there any other kind of mailing?) They work great in my laser printer, and I can send the same sheet through multiple times so I don''t have to fill out a whole sheet at once. Some other products don''t handle multiple printings very well but I have had no problem with these labels.

I ordered these 5161 Avery Labels for mailing address efficiency. I print the labels using an HP Officejet Pro 8500 (inkjet printer) and they work terrific, even if you need to run the same sheet through the printer several times. The ink is always dry upon exiting the printer and never smears from your touch. This to me was one of the real tests when first using the product. There are 20 labels per sheet and the label size itself works well for accommodating lengthy international addressing while using a slightly larger font for easy readability. These labels peel easily from the backing sheet and adhere great to any box, letter or paper surface I''ve used them on. Nice bright-white opaque label. I would definitely recommend these labels for mailing purposes!

Our town''s energy committee recently had a project for which we needed about 250 peel-off labels. Our plan was to distribute 250 CFL (compact fluorescent) light bulbs free at our town''s community day (sort of like a street fair) in order to encourage people to use the bulbs to reduce electricity use. CFL light bulbs can save about 75 percent on electricity over incandescent bulbs. For the 250 bulbs, we calculated that for 8000 hours of use and an electric cost of $0.10/KWh the total savings vs. 100 watt incandescent bulbs for all the bulbs would be about $15,000. There would also be a saving of 94 tons of carbon dioxide emission.

Avery Address Labels were a good choice for adding a label indicating the savings for using the bulbs and our committee''s name. The question was how to get the information printed on the labels. At the Avery web site, I found free software, DesignPro, which makes it possible to produce label designs for different label sizes. I downloaded the software easily and got started on the design

For the labels, there were about a dozen pre-made templates for the different size labels. I chose the template that matched my labels. Using DesignPro was a little like using PowerPoint. I was able to cut and paste a graphics image, add the appropriate text, and choose a font for the text. A test run on my printer produced a beautiful matrix of labels. The only problem was to find out which side of the label stock had to be up. I can never remember. After an up/down test, I had my sheets of labels printed in no time.

Our community day give-away was a big success. Our free light bulbs lasted about four hours. We were able to peel the labels from the printed sheets easily. There was enough time to peel and apply the labels as we gave away the CFLs. One surprise is that we had to have a sales pitch even for give-aways. The other surprise was that many people had never seen CFLs before. I am now a big fan of Avery labels, but I recommend getting the free software to make them work.

I needed to replace an old HP deskjet that I''ve had for more than 5 years that finally decided to stop working properly. I did a lot of research online and quickly got very caught up with all of these massive all-in-one devices that had way more functionality than I would ever need. If you are like me and just need a home printer to print the occasional directions/maps, recipes, coupons, bills, etc., then this is definitely the printer for you.

Before you buy a printer online you need to go to a store and see just how large these all-in-one devices actually are. My wife took one look at them and told me there is no way that is going in our home office even if it also served as a micro fridge and coffee maker. The great thing about this HP 3050 is that it has a much smaller footprint than most all-in-one printers. It has print, copy, and scan functionality, but no fax. Who needs a fax these days anyways when you can just scan a file and then email the scanned document. Most devices don''t have a fax out capability anyways so unless you are operating a business out of your house and you receive a lot of faxes the lack of fax on this model should not be a problem.

The printer is not too heavy and it''s packaged really well in the box. Instead of being wrapped in styrofoam it is secured with recycled cardboard and wrapped in a reusable canvas bag that you can use for your groceries. It comes with a quick installation guide, as most HP printers do, and the set up went very smoothly with no problems. There is one piece of cardboard wedged inside near the ink cartridges that I missed, but the printer told me of my error and it was easy enough to remove.

Setting up wireless was also not a problem, but you will need to be familiar with your wireless network security settings in order to get the printer connected. An alternative is just using the USB cable, which is nicely included in the box. I haven''t played around with web printing yet, but it''s not hard to just plug the USB cable into my desktop or laptop and print what I need.

The only negative I can think of is that the printing is a bit loud, but unless you''re keeping the printer in the room with the baby crib the noise isn''t THAT loud that it would be a dealbreaker. Ink consumption so far is not noticeably different than my prior HP, but I don''t print all that much all that often so this is tough to measure for me.

Overall a high quality printer with all the functionality non business users would need with a smaller footprint and lower price tag than most other all-in-one printers.

I bought this printer to replace my old Lexmark that was very faithful but used very expensive ink. I wasn''t

interested in wireless, but wanted a new scanner also and this item was very well priced. The install was painless on windows 7 and took only 10 min. including tests. Printer, copier and scan worked flawlessly. my only concern

is noise when printing starts. I hear several bumps and grinds as printing begins and I hope this is normal.

This is a great product for the occasional home use. Printing, scanning, copying is fast. The build quality isn''t top notch, but acceptable. One of the features that was not very clear from the product description was the wireless printing. Box says it needs a WPS enabled router, however, that is only for one touch wireless setup. The printer can be easily configured to print wirelessly from a PC using the HP supplied drivers. I tried this from windows 7 and setup was a breeze. The instructions supplied are very clear and concise. Printer has some in-built templates like calendar, notebook paper, graph paper which I found useful as opposed to downloading a template from the internet and printing that. Wireless printing/scanning works very well (I have a WRT54G router). Scanned files can be converted to jpeg or PDF or TIF.

I love this printer. It was exceptionally easy to install even for a novice like me.

We''ve used this for about 2 months now and have been very satisfied. It was very easy to set up and we have had no problems with it. We have it set up with a "distinctive ring" feature so we can have both a voice number and a fax number on the same physical phone line. It has had no problem handling this and it has always been able to tell a fax call from a voice one. We also have an answering machine, PC Modem, cordless phone, and credit card terminal all hooked up to the same physical line as this fax machine and have no conflicts or problems. The footprint is very small which is nice if you''re running out of deskspace.

The print quality is OK. We use to have an inkjet based fax machine and it was better.

When your comparing prices on these machines, be sure to add the cost of a replacement cartridge to the purchase price of this one (...)The cartridge that comes with it is only good for about 20-30 pages. I get that much junk fax in a couple of weeks. If you decide to buy this one, get a spare cartridge also.

We use this in a home office set up and only get a few of faxes a day. If you have high volume fax needs, this may not be the machine for you. It''s slow and I''m not convinced that it would hold up very long under high-volume situations.

What an improvement over our old oily-rolled-paper machine! I hated having cut those things apart and stand on them after they came in to straighten them out! You gotta love modern technology!

I got this durable, handy-dandy, inexpensive unit about a year ago. Overall, I am very happy with it. Easy to set up and operate, it is attractive and fits very well in my small home office. Forgot to re-load paper before going out on errands and someone tried to Fax you a major order? No problem! It has up to 20 pages of memory. My only quibble is that, with lengthy out-going faxes, it must be "baby-sat" as it has only a 10 page outgoing tray. But how often do you have to send off a treatise?

I use this machine for light home office use and its worked well so far. Print quality is good but not great and the speed is OK, but its definitely not fast. Has a small footprint so it doesn''t take up much space. Set up was easy and the owners manual is relatively straightforward.

Buy a spare cartridge immediately though as it only comes with a 30 page one. It works with my answering machine, which I was concerned about although it does play the message on my answering machine before receiving the fax so some folks have hung up and tried again thinking it was the wrong number.

For the money, its about the best you can do HP has more advanced (and expensive models start at around $200) but nothing else on the market that I was able to find had these features at this price (25 page memory, large paper input, phone).

Crisp, clear print-outs. Set up was simple, but my only hesitation is that the film that comes with the machine is only good for about 30 pages. I appreciate Brother being upfront about that in the manual (or other owner''s literature), but I wish that the "starter roll" of film lasted a bit longer.

Easy to set up and use. This fax machine does a good job of sending faxes in excellent quality. My only complaint is that when receiving faxes, the quality of faxes this machine prints out is only fair. The print outs are a little faint in spots.

Just bought this to upgrade from an old HP4100N and my first impression is WOW it''s fast.

The setup was a quick easy breeze. Plug it in to the network plug in the power and it''s up and running with the IP on the little display so you can see where and that it is connected.

The drivers found it on the network no problem was up and running with it in under 10 min. This is a clear case of you get what you pay for. And did I mention it is FAST.

We added a 1500 page feeder. It was easy to setup and the unit just sits on top or the additional paper feeder. It is not quiet but also not noisy (unless you happen to be sitting right next to it). First page comes out quickly and print speed is fast, close to our xerox printer rated at about the same speed. Only had it a week so don''t know about reliability. We plan on using refurbished high capacity cartridges and the cost per page for toner will be about $0.066 which again compares to the Xerox copier/printer. We got this because the Xerox has not been reliable. Has it''s own drivers on the HP web site. Using the 32bit and 64bit Win 7 drivers without a problem.

With the high cost of ink, the larger capacity cartridges can do the job for about a penny a page, according to my calculations. This unit is a printing press. Easy to get set up with the drivers, works great....so far, no problems. Bought it to print minimum 5000 pages per month.

Purchased it to run envelopes. Purchased a separate envelope feeder. First it wouldn''t recognize the feeder. When that was taken care of, then it wouldn''t recognize the tray 2. Try and call HP during the limited hours they are open for business products and you may as well pull your hair out. I have had many, many hp printer products over the years and never had trouble such as this. Followed through with the instructions on the internet, still doesn''t recogize tray 2. When I did get in touch with HP, I got some man with the personality of a dead fish. When I explained that I had already done what he was suggesting, he treated me like an imbecile. NO thanks. If I can''t take a printer out of the box and plug it in without being forced to call HP, it is obviously not the printer for me. I have a busy office and this has set me back at least a week.

Meets all laser printing requirements at a reasonable price. Very quiet, and very fast print speed. Good overall value for work groups.
