As a former copier/MFD repair tech with 34 years of experience, I can say with confidence that the OEM product is ALWAYS superior to ANY aftermarket imaging supply item, no matter what the aftermarket product may claim. Just the act of disassembling a factory sealed toner unit will compromise its integrity if it is refilled and reused. There are moving parts inside a toner cartridge which can wear out if it is reused beyond it''s designed lifespan, causing toner leakage or poor image quality. Additionally, the toner used in "compatible" copier supplies is often contaminated with moisture or other impurities that cause it to clog up. Aftermarket toner may also pose a health risk, because it may not meet the same safety standards as the original, due to using poorer quality chemical components, or different formulations.

I ordered this replacement cartridge two years ago. My wife works from home and prints a fair amount on a daily basis. As well, my kids and I also frequently print maps, homework, etc. etc. Bottom line is that depsite frequent, daily use, this cartridge has performed admirably. Only now, after two years, its finally showing signs of giving-up. But it still works. I just ordered another one to have on-hand when the old one finally dies for good.

There are other options to buy less expensive, generic products. But a printer is an appliance that MUST be reliable and provide satisfactory results in my household. That said, I''d rather pay a premium price for a product that has proven to provide LOOOOONG life and crisp print-outs. I can handle $50 every two years.

First of all, always always always buy OEM toner. It lasts longer, produces better quality, and won''t void your warranty. I used to repair printers, and have seen what happens when a cheap knockoff fails catastrophically. Hint: time to buy a new printer.

The seller sent mine out first thing on Monday even though I ordered over the weekend. I received it before Amazon''s estimated arrival date by a day. Fast, expedient service. This is the first time I bought from this seller, but I would buy again.

HP D1341 DeskJet Printer

HP D1341 DeskJet Printer
  • Ultra-compact with 80-sheet fold-up paper tray
  • Fast printing up to 16 ppm black and 12 ppm color
  • Print laser-quality black text and vibrant photos
  • Easy photo editing and auto red-eye removal
  • 4.5 lbs, (LxWxH): 16.6 x 12.43 x 5.6 inches

This printer did not cost much, but the quality of the prints it turns out are excellent! I don''t use it for high quality photos I have a die sublimation printer for that but it does a great job on things like lecture notes and general photography.

ive had this printer for about a year. It came free with a pc purchase, so i will be basing my review on that fact.

The negatives of this printer are that it is extremely noisy. Ive never heard of another printer this loud.

Its very cheaply made so you have no physical adjustments. hp claims that this has a ink level viewer, but even after updating to a different driver, i still have not been able to locate it.

The pluses are that the quality for b/w is great. setting the highest dpi on a grayscale image gives you a nice print. I have used it for printing stickers/decals.

The color print on the other hand isnt good. it drenches the paper with ink so you have color bleed and smudging... that obviously leads you to another issue with ink cartridge life. Ive printed perhaps 30 high quality b/w/color (roughly 20% cover on each page) and have already replaced the color cartridge three times and black twice.

The cartridges themselves are about normal price for any printer.

The speed on low quality images is slow... even worse on quality items. If you are looking for just a basic cheap printer, this will suit your needs. if you have a business or are looking to print high demand high quality pages, this isnt for you.

I have had this printer for a while and can count on one hand the times it actually works. You turn it on and makes a dramatic scene banging and whirring and clicking for about 10 seconds. You would think with all this noise it could actually print. No. If its not sucking up multiple pieces of paper at once and printing across all of them then its just getting jammed and wrinkling the paper. Most of the time it just doesn''t print. I click print and the progress says it''s printing pages 3 out of 1. Wonderful. No fixes seem to be available for it. Updated drivers don''t seem to fix it either. The dimwits at HP apparently think their crummy drivers aren''t the issue but the users. The very few times it actually bothered to do its job it printed decent quality though.

The product itself works well.

Installation, however, was a major challenge that, ultimately, involved a total of three hours of phone calls with HP technical assistance. It seems the installation CD was unable to locate and install the applicable "INF" files. This had to be done manually by the HP technician.

HP Brochure and Flyer Paper, Glossy

HP Brochure and Flyer Paper, Glossy
  • Extra bright white paper enhances the output of color from printer.
  • Special surface fixes ink onto sheet.
  • ColorLok(TM) technology.
  • Pack of 50 Sheets

After reading many reviews I was skeptical about what to expect from this paper. I am a graphic designer and I wanted paper for my portfolio. In the title it is called "glossy" but many of the reviews said that the paper wasn''t very glossy. I was looking for a semi-gloss paper but was having issues finding it in 11 x 17 or larger. This was perfect. It is not glossy, but it is not matte. It''s more of a semi-gloss. Its not as thin as regular paper, but not as thick as posterboard. Its the inbetween.

Buy HP Brochure and Flyer Paper, Glossy Now

The HP Brochure and Flyer Paper is a good product but I would consider this paper to be more semi-glossy than actual glossy paper. It''s a cross between matte and glossy. For supposed glossy paper, the finish is a bit dull and doesn''t have the luster that my other glossy media has. However, the quality of the paper is pretty good. But just keep in mind that if it''s a shimmery or shiny type of paper you''re looking for, this isn''t it.

I was pleasantly surprised by the image quality that can be printed on this stock. However, be aware that it is quite thin.

The paper made photos look so glossy and crisp. I am an HP fan but anyone who purchases this paper will not be disappointed. A suggestion would be not to touch this paper until you have washed your hands, it will show fingerprints.

If you have a printer that can support 11 x 17 color, this paper will produce an excellent brochure, flyer, etc. Fold in half for 4 8.5 x 11 sheets. Paper is on the "pricey" side, but quality is excellent and you can print as few as you require so they aren''t wasted.

We''ve owned the DR-2050C for about 8 months at our office, shared by 8 users. Setup took an hour or two, but went as smoothly as can be expected. You need to install 3 software programs to be complete. We are using it on an old, spare, Pentium 3 machine. I added a high-speed USB 2.0 card to the machine which definitely gives the scanner better speed. We don''t use all the features but for just scanning loads of old paper, it works great. NOTE: It does pick up dirt easily, causing streaks in the output. The front-side lens is very hard to reach, and the mfr. is very cautious about how to clean it. (Their recommendation did not get the gunk out.) I called their Tech Support and he suggested using alcohol on a cotton cloth to clean the lenses, but must be careful not to get alcohol on the rubber rollers. We clean it regularly now-whenever it shows streaks-and it is fine. I would buy another one for the home, but the price is still too high. Hopefully prices of these things will fall in the future.

I have owned my 2050C for about 3 weeks. Whilst it has integrated quite well into my offices, it did take a 5 hours of frustration, an email to tech support, a 2 day wait for a reply, and a download of the latest CapturePerfect (3.0.30 iirc) to get multipage documents batching to pdf''s without a consistent lockup on or about the 3rd document.

I would have expected this very straightforward feature, which is heavily promoted in the product advertising, would be working out of the box (i.e. off the provided CD) for $500.

Happy to have it functional now, but I suggest you email tech support for the latest CapturePerfect and bin the included CD.

I installed 27 of these in a medium-sized law firm in 2005-2006. In the 3 1/2 years since, only ONE has needed replacement. They''re wonderful units that do a good job of creating OCRed PDF''s quickly. The installation is simple not intuitive but simple. Install the drivers and Capture Perfect and you''re ready to go. The secret to the installation is to leave the CD in the drive and you won''t have any problems. Capture Perfect is a small and quick program without a lot of bloat it doesn''t take over your computer like most of the other scanners out there (think HP).

The rollers need replacing every 4 6 months with constant use but, otherwise, this is a set it up and forget it machine that lasts a long time. The competition is pretty much the Fujitsu ScanSnap but their software package is MUCH too limited (no JPG''s, for example).

If you''re looking for a good stout quick performing scanner for a small office? You can''t go wrong with the 2050c.

Want Canon DR-2050C Color Duplex 20PPM A3 50 Sheet Adf 600DPI USB Discount?

In the old days we used to copy all the documents for our small business and then store them in boxes for at least seven years. Sorting, stapling and putting in order thousands of pages took so much time. Now all we do is scan the documents in pdf format and from time to time back up on DVDs. Canon DR-2050C does the job just about perfectly. Our daily scanning volume is about 100 pages but a couple of days a month we scan more than 1000 pages per day. This is where the small size of the scanner comes in handy. You can easily move the scanner to your desk and while feeding stacks of paper into it have the time and space to do other work. Occasionally the scanner will take two or more pages at a time so it is important to keep an eye on it. Paper jams do happen but not often and it is a real snap to clear them. Cleaning the narrow strip of glass a few times after seeing streaks on the scanned documents is all the maintenance we''ve performed so far. As for the software, we have only used CapturePerfect which works just fine. Sometimes glitches happen when the software takes longer than usual to get ready to scan but that''s no big deal.

I have not (yet) bought the Canon DR-2050C, but studied its specifications. It seems to be equivalent to the predecessor Canon DR-2080C, except for the supplied software and the computer interface. If you can, go back and read the reviews for the DR-2080C. The old model featured both a USB 2.0 and a SCSI-II connection. The new model has only the USB 2.0 interface. The exterior design is also a little different, with the new model being a little more rounded. Let''s be clear: Both are A4/legal size scanners. The talk of scanning A3 documents (11x16 inches) is a software feature that requires you fold your A3 documents to scan front and back at the same time. Software can then stitch the two images together again.

I''ve owned my old Canon DR-2080C for two years now, and have been very happy with it. But I''ve used it a lot, I think I''ve scanned 100,000 two-sided pages (200,000 images) with it, and it is coming to the end of its lifetime, so I''m leaning towards replacing it with the new DR-2050C. Perhaps its nearest competitor, the Fujitsu fi-5110EOX, is a little cheaper but isn''t TWAIN/ISIS compatble.

DYMO LabelWriter LW330 Turbo Label Printer

DYMO LabelWriter LW330 Turbo Label Printer
  • Print labels without a printer
  • Does not use ribbons, toner, or ink cartridges
  • Resolution of 300 dots per inch
  • Prints labels up to 2.3 inches wide
  • Prints label in 2 seconds

I have to admit I was very hesitant to purchase this; in many cases, even when a product claims Mac compatibility it usually is just a bare-bones port. When DYMO released v60-something of their software for Mac OS 10 (10.2, Jaguar) I decided to give it a shot. Man, am I glad I did.

This simple little device saves a lot of time. It works from most major programs, but I find a quick copy & paste into the DYMO Label program is just as quick.

Labels print in a second or two after hitting the print button (use the Preferences to bypass the Print Command Window altogether, BTW). This saves a lot of time (and cost) in regards to full-sheet Avery-type labeling.

I''ve only played around with the large format Shipping Labels (DYMO 30256, 2 5/16 x 4) but there''s a wealth of sizes and shapes available.

Images as well as text print sharp, depending on format of the image. I''ve done all sorts of client labels as well using their labels for them; they''re all quite happy with the quality and I believe more than one has purchased one of these.

The only problem I''ve come across is address book saving; I can''t seem to get it to save an address. I''m probably missing something but, as mentioned above, it''s just as easy to do a quick copy & paste, for instance, from OS 10''s own Address Book (which would seem to be the ideal program for DYMO to tie into).

Pros:

Quick

Clean

Seamless OS 10 connectivity

Sharp images as well as text (when using proper formats)

Cons:

A little pricey (but honestly worth it)

Noisy (but only for the few seconds it prints)

Not color (but, c''mon, it''s thermal!)

Buy DYMO LabelWriter LW330 Turbo Label Printer Now

This specialized label printer is simple to set up, easy to use, and takes up very little space on the desk highly recommended.

A few cautionary notes:

1. when printing from Outlook the program only recognizes business addresses

2. the thermal printing labels you must use with this printer aren''t exactly cheap

3. the template provided for use in Word reinstalls itself by modifying the default document template each time you open Word, which is annoying if you have Word set to notify you before saving the default template.

Otherwise I am completely satisfied with this printer and expect to use it for many years.

I''ve owned a laser printer since the first HP IIP came out almost 15 years ago. It''s always been handy to print labels for letters, packages, etc. on my laser printer. However, I''ve always had to use a whole sheet of labels to print just one and then reuse the sheet. What a mess. This product ends those problems! I''m a gadet lover and this product is the best gadet I think I have ever purchased! It prints a single label in about 2 secs. Faster than I can reach to get a label it''s already printed. This thing is fast! And the quality is superb! On top of that the software''s not bad either. And if you don''t like the included software you can print from Word or Outlook. No more messing with a whole sheet of labels-I just print the one label I need and I''m done!

I looked at the Seiko label printer as well. Ths printer is a little bigger (not enough to matter) and the resolution is so much better. I''m telling you-this is the best product I have ever purchased! And it only took me 15 years to get it!

Hi,

I have a Powermac G4 and a powerbook + an airport express.

This thing is great, it is plugged into the powermac. I just selected "share printers" from the System Settings menu.

When we want to print a label we can do it from either computer in seconds. The Dymo software works well on the mac and we can print directly from address book.

First, I do not use the software included. I use the LabelWriter with FileMaker, so it took me a bit longer to set up a layout that prints perfectly onto the labels. I only use the file folder labels, and I simply go to my FileMaker file, type in one or several labels and click print. As soon as the print dialog goes away (about 2 seconds), the LabelWriter Turbo 330 starts rolling out labels. It is great for printing folder labels one at a time.

Also, I like the fact that it does not take a print cartridge, so i dont know how long it will last, but I''ve been using mine over a year with no problem.

If you are kind of obsessive about having all of your file folders organized and labeled neatly, this is the printer for you. It''s very fast (about twice as fast as my old LabelWriter 300, which finally wore out after about 2-3 years of use). It does work, you will enjoy using it.

I think this is a good quality paper. I have used cheaper paper that sometimes smears after printing because the ink needs extra time to dry. The ink seems to dry pretty fast on this paper. I really cannot say if the quality of the printed image is better compared to other paper; I''m not an expert, but I am always happy with the way my documents look after being printed on this paper.

I rate this product highly because it provides extra brightness, and its 24lb weight gives the paper a real quality feel, at not that much of a premium price for a premium product.

Cheaply made, stalls and clogs easily, and EATS batteries! I could only recommend this if you need something portable, and are willing to put up with its limitations (one sheet at a time, flimsy construction, etc.) Spend a buck and get a regular shredder.

Update after 6 months: this thing died after only a few months of occasional light use. It won''t even shred a single 8x10 piece of paper! The motor has lost nearly all power, and the paper that does get through it isn''t actually shredded, but comes out as a sort of crinkled mess. It makes crunching and clicking noises maybe it stripped gears? Whatever it''s junk.

Very low profile and paper comes out the front so you can stack items on top of it during use.

Samsung doesn''t offer a higher capacity toner cartridge but you can get one from checksnet that prints more pages and can be used for making checks.

Excellent print quality & quietest printer I''ve ever owned.

This is my second Samsung (my previous model was a 1200 series which lasted 8 years and was eventually donated to our local school)

The ML-1630 is just stunning for a monochrome laser printer under $200. The look is unique, but as the title says, the quality is what you would expect from a home laser printer.

The characters are crisp and the graphics are perfect (2 settings, standard and above). It is very quiet, plug-and-play, can be shared without any issue on a local windows network. You get one year warranty which can be extended by another 3 months once you register your product online.

The only issue we got was with the paper. We were using recycled paper (which is quite thin) and sometimes the paper would be a little wrinkled. By switching to normal paper (Stapples), the problem went away.

I bought this printer as a supplement to my HP OfficeJet 5610 All-in-One. The Samsung ML-1630 laser is a very quiet monochrome laser printer. Print quality is excellent for text. Also the price per page for text is very reasonable. Printer is very quiet and prints text pages quickly.

Only mediocre for printing graphic images (such as coins) that are colored. The change to gray-scale comes out a little dark.

Pros: Very small foot-print, very good looking printer, low cost per page.

Cons: Color graphics come out dark when converted to gray-scale.

Want Samsung Monochrome Laser Printer (ML-1630) Discount?

I bought this printer as a replacement for a 5 year old Brother printer. Although I had read reviews saying it did not work well wirelessly, I decided to give it a try based on otherwise good reviews.

At first all went well. As a printer it is excellent. Great print quality, and quiet.

However, it does not work well with Airport ever since I upgraded my OS to 10.5. It will do one print job, then freeze. I have to reset Airport for each and every print job. This is a real pain when I am working wirelessly, which is most of the time.

It still works fine if plugged directly into my MacBook Pro via USB.

Wireless is a futile effort. I''ve read numerous blogs on the problem, and solutions are temporary at best.

If you plan to use this printer plugged directly into your computer, then it is a good buy. If you plan to use wireless with a PC, I have heard that works but can''t confirm. But don''t buy if you plan to use wirelessly with a Mac.

One other minor inconvenience: the paper tray is rather small, and holds about 50 sheets. If you print lots of large jobs, I''d consider another printer.

I was looking for a laser printer for most of my documents, which don''t need any color printing. I was also looking for something that looked halfway decent on my desk, and I found it with the Samsung ML-1630.

It''s a quick 5-minute setup, with the only thing you really have to do to the printer is slip in the printer cartridge. Then you turn it on, connect it to your computer, and install the software from the CD.

I installed it on a Vista laptop, everything worked great, then shared that printer on my home network. I wirelessly connected to that shared printer from a remote Windows7 laptop, and it installed the printer drivers and printed easily. I was actually quite surprised it all worked, to be honest.

The printer is quiet and prints documents perfectly. As other commenters mention, it doesn''t hold a ream of paper, but for my home office, it''s more than I print in a week. It looks fantastic, too.

The only thing missing is built-in wireless, but I''ll make do.

This paper was too pricey for only containing 100 sheets. It did not work any better than more economical brands.

Want BAZIC 80 Ct. White Multipurpose Paper Discount?

I am all for using recycled paper. This slim rim is a collection of thin, grey not white, sheets of paper that is barely usable with a laser printer. Once printed, the sheets curl and make a mess on the printer''s output tray. As paper goes, you have so many options. Avoid this product.

My first problem was the fact that it''s only 100 sheets. That was my fault, for not reading carefully enough. For 100 sheets, this is very expensive paper. But it also feels flimsy, and it curls coming out of my laser printer. It''s OK for draft paper, but I can''t use it for anything I want to look presentable.
