This printer is fast and has good output. I received this printer several days ago, and I ran into problems installing the software. If you avoid these things, you''ll have a lot better installation experience!

I couldn''t get it to install using the parallel interface, but I realized that my parallel port is set up as an ECP port, not a regular parallel port. The installer just hung saying it was doing post-install cleanup or similar. Luckily, the cancel button cleaned up the install without problems. The ECP wouln''t work with my old LaserJet 3p, either if I recall correctly. I switched to USB, and installation went great.

Next problem, the HP laserjet toolkit (which you need to use because there''s no LCD display or menu) uses a web interface, and the manual (on CD or through the internet) says it will install Java 1.3.1 if you don''t have a newer version installed. Well, I already had Java 1.4.x SDK, so it didn''t install v1.3.1. However, the toolkit software wouldn''t work with 1.4.x (the Tomcat (server?) said it didn''t recognize version 48. I finally gave up and uninstalled my existing java and the HP printer software, and reinstalled the HP printer driver. Success!

By the way, if you have to reinstall the software, make sure and turn the printer off first, or the computer won''t be able to detect your new printer at the right time (and you''ll have to start over again).

Hardware 4 stars, driver installation 2 stars. I chose this printer over the Brother because there were reports of poor printing quality for some people.

This is obviously an update of the 1200 laserjet printer. 8 megs of memory and upto 15 ppm. The print quality is good. The printer is noisy, which is the greatest drawback, especially if it sits next to you on the desk.

Either HP forgot to enclose a manual or it does not exist. This would create difficulty for one who had never put together a printer before. It''s a snap for others.

We purchased this printer largely to print color images on envelopes, as well as for printing full size color brochures. We also needed a networked printer for our office''s multiple systems in 3 rooms. So far, this printer has let us down on both counts.

The print speed, quality and reliability has been sub-par. And the software required to run the printers has eaten up over 40 hours of IT time the software causes the print spooler to crash on Windows XP and you must restart your system (or manually restart the print spooler on each system) to get this to print. For each print job. So much for the "speed" advantages of laser printers.

In terms of print speed, it prints single page documents very quickly, but there is a gap of 10-60 seconds between each page. Printing 10 Standard A4-size envelopes takes over 3 minutes to start up, then 20-40 seconds between each envelope. So printing 10 envelopes often takes close to 10 minutes. On larger documents, the delay is much longer.

Print quality is fair, at best. The printer gets documents so warm that our envelopes were sealing themselves as they ran through the printer. Legal and Letter size pages get wrinkled as they come out of the printer. Our supplier told us to get an additional paper tray to cure this problem. I see no difference.

It is sad to see HP Support just drop the ball on this printer.

The HP Support Forums are filled with people begging for a solution to the network printing problems.

I must say that the lone Windows Vista system on our network does not have the print spooler problems that we have on our XP machines.

I would be thrilled if a HP rep read this review and responded. Over 6 months of phone calls & emails have not gotten us anywhere.

This machine was exactly the cost of 4 new cartridges, and guess what? I get a whole new warranty! Wait, there''s more. It''s faster, at 22 pages rather than 16. It''s smaller, and takes up less space! And there''s more... the new cartridges are rated for 6,000 pages rather than 4,000. So while I hate the idea that HP forced me to buy a new machine, it turned out pretty well. And yes, the thing works exactly as I hoped it would. Easy to set up, easy to network to all 3 of my office computers, and easy to use. So no complaints. Definitely worth getting.

I picked this up at Sams Club for $200. I plan on using it in my new restaurant and really like the clerk ID function as well as the ability to download reports to my computer rather than having them printed out. There is a bit of a learning curve to setting it up but it wasn''t that bad once I figured it out. I dislike having a serial connection for the PC (as opposed to USB) but there is a built in SD card slot that serves the same purpose, and in reality is probably EASIER than hooking up a cable to my laptop.

For the price the features are outstanding. I have set up all my waitresses with their own unique ID that they have to enter before ringing up a sale. You can also customize the header and footer of the receipt as well as the message that scrolls across in front of the customers.

All-in-all I think this is going to serve our purpose just fine at a great price.

I have owned 2 previous royal alpha cash registers, and they were dependable workhorses with many features and good accounting reports (void reports, clerk reports that show number of nosales by clerk id, etc) this is a piece of garbage compared to them. its journal only has 4000 lines, it doesn''t show voids on the journal, but it does insert a bunch of spaces into to journal, so that after only 500 transactions, my journal is full and has to be printed mid day. i bought an SD card thinking that i could just back them up to that and then print them all at the end of day, but apparently it cant print journal reports that have been saved to the SD card. the journal is pretty worthless anyway, as it doesn''t show any actual data on what might cause a miscount of cash. voids are often used by employees to skim money out of the cash drawer (voiding an item without first ringing it in, and pocketing the void) on the older alpha registers this could be seen by looking at the journal and making sure that all items that were voided were actually rung in. on this machine, that is impossible, because the only void information is printed on the end of day report and it shows a lump sum, not individualized transactions. You might think that you can trust all your employees, but I have caught managers skimming before using the journal tape. DO NOT BUY.

When I purchased my Dell Computer the sales person said they would "up grade" me with this printer. I thought, FANTASTIC, it proved to be a big disappointment. Fax mode takes 3 to 4 minutes to send out the scanned sheets. The inks ran out in the printer and when I replaced them with their expensive ink the system totally went down with no prints and the unit telling me that there was no ink in the new and functioning ink cartridges. When I called the DELL Service (or lack of Service) number, their representitive (from a place he could not tell me where) told me to go and buy a new printer as they could not help me and then thanked me for using DELL''s service line. No follow up on my call was ever acknowledged. Junk from DELL IS HELL!

For a little while i guess this printer does an OK job. It''s a little slow but I can live with that. The scanning and copying isn''t too bad. But it''s been a little less than a year and this printer is the worst part of my life. It takes me over half an hour to print a 3 page report. It jams all the time. I can''t even put multiple sheets of paper in the tray, I have to feed it paper one at a time for it to print. And I have to mention again, it jams like crazy. Just now I got so mad at it I punched my table and have an aching hand. I will never buy a printer from Dell again and I highly recommend no one does either.

I got this printer free with my Dell laptop in 2007, and it''s worked ok for the basic print jobs I give it, but it''s finally started to crap out to the point where I need to upgrade.

Ink is about $20/cartridge at Wal-mart, and I need to replace it every 2-3 months with moderate use (~10 pages/week).

It prints fairly fast for black and white, but much slower for color pictures. Photos tend to contain little white lines through them regardless of how much I run the cleaning cycle. It only connects through a USB cable (provided), so I need to drag my laptop over to the printer whenever I need something done.

Scan time is about 30 seconds for a high-quality picture, and seems to provide accurate scans. I''ve only used the copy feature for sheet music and textbooks, which are both a pain to align in the scanner bed and you have to squish it down just right. However, after a little fiddling, everything comes out ok.

Problems: I don''t know whether it would have always done this, or if it''s just wearing out, but when my color ink cartridge ran out this past time, I didn''t bother to replace it due to insufficient funds (lol) and a lack of need. However, now whenever I turn my printer on, it insists on automatically running the alignment process, without consulting my computer, and I have to hit Cancel quickly or risk wasting a bunch of ink. The first couple times this happened, I humored it and printed it out, but I soon caught on to its game, and I resent the ink I spent printing out useless little blocks.

The other major problem is that it tends to jam up. A LOT. Sometimes it works perfectly, but often (and especially lately) it refuses to suck in the paper and then claims it jammed and I should restart my print job. Every. Damn. Page. Alternately, what used to happen most of the time was it would get greedy and try to eat 3-5 pages at a time, then get indigestion. It would print over a "fan" of multiple papers.. Now what happens often is it will have trouble getting the paper in, then start printing so I can hear, which makes me think everything is fine. Surprise! It managed to print half a page before actually getting any on the paper, so I have a useless half-blank page and a bunch of smeared ink on my next pages. As a college student to tends to push every task until the last moment possible, you can see where this would pose a problem. I''m trying to run around and get ready, while Mr. Printer alternates between having to be reset every page and printing them off the paper.

Also: In the past few months, the Power button has stopped working. Sometimes it won''t turn on when I tell it to, and sometimes I''ll go to force a shutdown because it''s frozen, and wind up having to unplug the whole setup (which includes my modem and router).

However, my cats do enjoy watching the paper come jerkily out of the end of it, and will even come running to watch it print. They get up on their little hind legs, and sometimes even stick their paws up it to see what''s going on. So it does make a good cat toy.

My 944 is still going strong after all these years and it is fast. Our Kodak 7200 series is a joke, so I brought the 944 back out and so far it is working like a dream. It gets good mileage on the ink, and has a nice interface for printing options. It''s no high end Epson but it gets the job done without all the extra software, which I find annoying.

Getting this used right now would be a decent decision. Mine is ancient compared to the stuff that''s out there now, but at least it works right.

I''ll admit it does some funky stuff sometimes like eat more than one sheet of paper from the tray at a time. This is my second one.

But, hey, it works. And the ink right now is a steal!! The Kodak printers that boast $10 ink are a joke. The ink runs out in a week from LIGHT usage. In comparison, what have you got to lose, really?

This is the most frustrating piece of crap equipment that I have ever owned in my life, without exception. The thing gobbles ink at a rate of 4-5x what it promises. You''re lucky to get 150 pages of black ink out of it. Of course, you may not have the patience to print that much because every other page causes a "paper jam" that freezes up the whole process--there''s nothing stuck in there, the machine just won''t pull the paper out of the tray and it prints the entire page over and over itself on one line--then you have to cancel the print and send it again for the machine to work. And no, Dell, it doesn''t matter what kind of paper I use--I''ve tried a dozen varieties. And then there is this thing where it doesn''t recognize that you''ve replaced the cartridge--before every print job it warns me that the "reserve tank" is almost empty. It''s not. Now, the final straw: it refuses to align the cartridge, telling me that I haven''t "removed all the tape" from the new cartridge (which, yes, it says is empty). So the machine prints gibberish. Hooray. I would have replaced it long ago, but I''m cheap and hopeful, but now I have an excuse and I''m not going to content myself with recycling the thing. I''m going to smash the son-of-husky into little tiny bits with an aluminum baseball bat.

I have always used Epson perforated 4"x6" photo paper to print photographs, but since I just got the Canon S9000 printer and started using the Canon Photo Paper Pro 4"x6" borderless I''ve been amazed. Compared to Epson''s paper, the Canon is the closest film developed on paper! The Canon paper is smooth, shiny and the colors are vivid. This one gets the five stars for its STELLAR perf., inspite of the price. I have tried a number of different papers from Epson, HP, Kodak,... to cheap imitations. Nothing yet compares to the results of the Canon Photo Pro. True Lab quality. If you look at the surface at an angle so you can see the reflection of a light source, you can really tell the difference in the surface textures of different papers. The canon Pro is unique in that it actually looks like a mirror, you can see the detailed image of the light, not a distorted reflection. I.E. the paper is mirror flat, not like any other paper I can find. TOO BAD IT''S SO EXPENSIVE. I have been searching high and low for an alternative. HP-Premium Plus is the closest I can find in quality to this paper. KODAK gives croc-skin on solid areas, as do other cheap papers. Someone PLEASE TELL US!!! If you can find a suitable replacement. I''m using Photo Paper Pro with my Canon S820 printer to print pictures (mostly snapshots of our 10-month old) taken with a Kodak DX 4900 4.0 mp camera. When I print pictures taken in Hi-Res mode, I can''t tell the difference between those I print on the Canon PPP and those I''ve taken with my Fuji 35mm and sent to a photo lab. The paper feels a lot like what you get from pro photo labs. I agree with the person who commented that the back of the paper feels a bit sticky (much less so than a post-it note though). This is the best paper when printing photos from most Canon Photo printers. I have an S820 and print quality on this paper rivals lab prints and film Fabulous colors, detail, sharpness, etc. (when using a 3+MP camera). However it is not cost effective (40c/sheet).

For 4x6 prints, Canon''s Photo Paper Plus Glossy is indistinguishable from Photo Pro and considerably cheaper (20c/sheet). The only difference, Photo pro is "supposed" to last 25yrs without fading (which given the immortality of digital pics shouldnt be an issue).

This printer is a question of value. Clearly, there are higher quality printers even from Canon. Likewise, there are printers that are less expensive. What I am most interested in knowing about when shopping for something is the relative value of the item. In that way, the MP150 should receive 5 stars. It is an extremely good value for what it is: a quality, at-home moderate use printer.

Printing quality is fast and of high quality. Borderless 4x6 photos are what I would call very good (I have not yet printed larger). I have seen better photos, but not at this price point. You will be very happy with the occasional or semi-frequent picture you print off for friends, family, or yourself. Pictures seem a little skewed to the beige, but I don''t notice any grain or lines. It will not quite replace a photo studio or online provider, but with the low cost of printing digital pictures at your local drug store, 90% of us should not be overly concerned with very, very high quality, at home printing. The Pict Bridge is nice and Canon claims pictures will not fade for 100 years if stored in proper albums.

Normal document printing is good too. Not quite laser, but anyone who need regular business printing should invest in at least a low cost laser. No ink based printer will do what you need if you have a business office in your home.

Scanning is very good and easy. Their software allows for all sorts of imports and scanning, while not lightning fast, is quite good. Copying is a breeze: place your document on the glass (and with an auto-adjusting top, you can easily copy books up to 1-2 inches thick), hit the black or color button, and you''re done. No need to have the computer on.

The paper tray leaves a little to be desired, but not too much. It''s a bit flimsy and doesn''t give you a great deal of confidence that it will pull paper correctly, although it has so far for me. I like the non-turning path the paper takes. Paper goes in the top and comes out straight from the front. This makes labels easier and more successful. The printer seems very good at pulling your paper media quite well without the stutter or mistakes of some HP printers.

Canon offers four ink cartridges for this printer: PG 40 (black) and PG 50 (black high capacity) as well as CL41 (color) and CL51 (color high capacity). Some have said that it won''t accept the high cap cartridges. I haven''t tried yet.

As for what I would have liked to see, the printer, while somewhat fast, can take forever to start printing. It almost always takes enough time for me to think the printer is not going to print. When I then go to remove the paper and try again, it starts up just before I get there like it was waiting for me to make the first move!

The tray is rated to hold 100 pieces of paper. No way. More like 50 if you''re lucky. Ink is high quality and the heads are part of the cartridge, but ink use is higher than average. Normal cartridges are rates for around 200 pages and, because there are not multiple color cartridges, if you run out of one color, you run out of everything.

Finally, when compared to its competitor (HP1401), it is both more expensive and bigger. However, I would take the MP150 over the HP (and since I have both, I should know).

I just purchased this printer and am VERY impressed with the print quality. Especially the borderless prints that look every bit as good as professionally printed photos.

A couple of small nits to be aware of: The setup instructions that I recieved with my printer bear absolutely no resemblance to this printer. They''re supposed to be for this and a couple of other models, but it asks you to do things that aren''t available on this model (select your language from the LCD panel when there''s no LCD panel, for instance). Having said all that, it still sets up very easily. Windows XP detected it right away and I was up and running in minutes (love that plug-and-play feature of XP, thanks Microsoft!)

It''s not the quietest printer in the regular mode, but there is a special "quiet" mode that you can engage if it bothers you.

Overall an outstanding combination of quality and price.

Just purchased this printer with a notebook bundle and ending up only paying $49.99 after rebates so for that price I''m happy. We have a very nice HP wireless all-in-one but bought the Canon for my daughter who is college bound. The HP is definitely nicer and quieter but we also paid 5 times as much!

Set up was very easy. For those who are looking to save ink do not use the Canon task bar to print. Go to the main task bar and select File, then Print, Preferences, Custom, then Set. Select the fastest print quality for draft printer and a little higher for other printing. You will save a lot of ink!

I also tried the scanner and copier and both seem to work fine.

I have bought the printer for around a month and the driver already alerts me that the black ink is running out. Grantly, I print a lot as I''m a student, but I use the "super fast" option whenever possible to save ink. Well, it turns out that doesn''t help much. So I advise any of one that print a lot think twice before you buy any Canon printer using the PG-40 and CL-41 catridges. They can run out very quickly.

Other than this problem, the printer is ok. I like the style, the price, the multifunction capability. The print quality is average. I use HP''s multipurpose paper, which isn''t bad, and sometimes feel the text are not black and bold enough. Color output isn''t bad, and the scanner is pretty good. The copying function is really convenient and the results are satisfying.

Overall, the tiny catridges prevent me from recommending this machine. If you print a lot, look elsewhere or buy a printer-only separate ink-tank model. I wish Canon had not replaced the earlier model which uses the BCI-2x ink tank.

This printer set up easily and produced perfectly good results, especially for the price. I picked it over the Epson CX3810 for scanning resolution and text-recognition software (Omnipage SE included, works fine).

A couple of software surprises:

Maximum scanning resolution was 600dpi in regular mode, unless I went via another button labelled "scan through scanner driver", when the full 1200 dpi became available.

With no LCD (need the MP170 for that), copier zoom isn''t available from the panel, just "fit to page". BUT if you go via computer, using scanner software, you have the option of using it as a copier, with zoom (25-400%) and exposure adjustment available, no need to save to file.

Very happy so far.

Great label printer. Fast, reliable, and quiet. A bit bulky but the size makes it easy to change the label.

Note about setting up printer for postage:

I bought this printer to print folder labels and postage. Folder labels was easy enough but postage proved difficult. I read on a forum that you could print USPS click and ship postage. Signed up on USPS and spent a few hours trying to fit the postage image onto the label. Finally, a search revealed that paypal has this functionality. I signed into paypal and under Profile -> shipping settings set the printer settings to ql-550 (ql-570 not listed but it''s okay). It gives you a heads up that you need Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment to print labels to your label printer and points to you a link for the no longer unsupported J2SE JRE from 2005 that no longer works. You do need Java Run Time Environment but can use the newer one. You can get it by searching for JRE or get the older one by searching J2SE JRE.

Then I went into Label Printing Application found under Aution Tools tab -> PayPal MultiOrder Shipping and printed two labels. Wasted about 1 foot of labels trying to get them to print. Then finally realized there is another setting inside this MultiOrder Shipping App under Edit -> Settings. I set this to the ql-550 and hit the "Reprint" button (next to View Details...) under the History tab. I wasted another foot of continuous label trying to print the labels. Then realized that reprinting keeps the original printing formatting. Had to void out the labels and /really/ re-print them (luckily I didn''t have to refill in the shipping details). Very annoying experience. end rant.

3. Click auction tools -> free MultiOrder Shipping

4. If Getting Started pops up click Close

5. Click Edit -> Settings -> Print Settings -> Label Printer, and choose ql-550. (Also I unchecked packing slips and receipt. Packlist comes up after printing labels and you can choose your regular printer)

6. Click Ok

7. You are done. Click File -> Create New Order

Also, turn off pop-up blocker before trying to print and you might want to change your OS''s "Printer Preferences" paper size to the correct value so you don''t have to do this everytime you print. The default is wrong for the ql-570.

This is a big feature for the ql series so they should have some better documentation but it is equally paypals fault for poor documentation.

I got this a few weeks ago and I''ve been enjoying beautiful label printing since. While Brother has many label printers, this model is all you really need. It was actually recommended by a Brother reptile ;) at Macworld.

Set-up was easy and I''m using it with both Mac Leopard and Windows Vista and I''ve experienced no problems printing whatsoever. The Windows software has more features than the Mac side and feels "slicker" too.

The QL-570 prints fast and silent. It''s a little bigger than you would expect, but that''s due to the easy-to-change label cartridges, which are a big plus.

I use this printer on a Mac with OS X 10.5, and it works great. I think of new uses for the labels just about every day. Its super fast, and changing labels or tape is a snap. They come in a cartridge that just drops into the printer. The printer reads the label size so its available to the software.

One other nice thing about this printer is lots of type of labels and tape. There is circle labels, squares, big ones and small ones, and continuous tape in both paper and film.

One slight negative is that the software doesn''t make it as easy to enter a POSTNET barcode as it should. You need to manually enter the zip code and manually position the bar code. Not terrible, but not as nice as the rest of the software.

Overall this is a great printer, durable, and you will love it.

I''m a Fine Art Digital Photographer, not a techno geek to make it plain to those reading my assessment of the Epson Stylus Pro 3800. Since getting into the digital arena and printing my own images, I''ve been with Epson exclusively. My digital prints are quality images, printed on the many available Epson substrates with perfect results. The Pro3800 is intuitive and easy to use, the switching between photo and matte inks is seamless, but takes a little time. So what. Coming from a wet darkroom experience in the past, time was something expected and desired for the outcome of a beautiful print. The printer''s colors are spectacular, the black and whites are great, the manual is easy to understand and if followed, the results speak for themselves.

Perhaps I should mention that my printer is upstairs in my studio, attached to my MacBook Pro and used only for the purpose of creating my photographs. The previous reviewer speaks of many other applications he had in mind for this unit. Perhaps his expectations somehow exceed the normal use for a printer of this caliber. But, I admit, I am no techno person, just an artist who is delighted with the performance of this printer.

As to the shipping mishaps he has experienced, unfortunate, but does happen. I bought my printer through Amazon, and it arrived in tip top shape. Also, I''ve always had good customer support from Epson in the past, so don''t know why he didn''t.

For you ..... prospective buyers ...... assess your printing needs first, look up other printers and independent reviews, then make an informed choice.

This printer offers excellent print-quality, and it does so in a small footprint. I''m amazed! However, Epson slacks a little in regards to reliable networking, beta-testing, shipping, and efficiency.

I have possessed two of these printers and both had some major issue:

#1 First one was most likely damaged during packaging, because the shipping box was in pristine condition. I had to ship it back and get another printer, albeit, I didn''t have to ship it until the new one arrived, but with Epson''s poor tech-support, even this was no easy job for me. I ended up having to call the Headquarters to speak with someone, but the whole building was too busy with some big meeting to help me. Nobody EVER called me back during the whole experience of swapping the two printers out.

#2 Second printer was also damaged (STRAIGHT FROM EPSON!), but I managed to reset the front tray. You can tell the machine is fragile, just from the serious amount of foam and blue tape Epson ships the device with. It takes a good 5-10 minutes to carefully unpack. Printers have never really been built like tanks, and I don''t expect the manufacturers will find a way any time soon.

#3 Bug in the software? My printer suddenly started displaying it was using Photo-Black ink, instead of Matte. So I set it to swap the blacks out back to Matte black. Soon after, it displayed Photo Black again. So I wasted two swaps to find a cosmetic BUG! Cosmetic, sure, but this is a bit over the top. Epson even mis-spelled the word, "Networking" in the Firmware update utility inside the LFP Remote Panel. If that''s indicative of Epson''s attention to detail, I can only imagine this is where they had to cut some jobs to give the K3-ink crew more time and materials. I''m just glad the K3-ink department got it right!

#4 The IT staff at Epson should get more involved with the design engineers and help them understand more about RELIABLE LAN networking. This printer is among the lowest quality LAN nodes I''ve dealt with in my life. I''m a Cisco Network Engineer, btw. If you want to experience repeated futility, try getting this thing to regain an Ethernet connection to a Mac Book Pro after unplugging the cable and rebooting either device. I don''t wish to think every Epson printer does this, but I''m surprised Epson didn''t build any decent Ethernet status monitoring in the printer. No, that''s something HP does well, and have proven it for the last ten years.

#5 Poorly laid out menus and buttons: Yeah I''ve worked with better. Question: Why do you have to reboot the printer to change it''s IP address? Haven''t we evolved enough to virtually eliminate reboots?

I can''t boast enough about the print-quality, and to keep the price within reach, there has to be some sacrifices made along the way. Shareholders don''t budge on these things, and I don''t expect Seiko to, either. So, if you can live with potential issues in production as such, I think you''ll be a satisfied customer, assuming your printer arrives intact and without something bent. I just wish Epson could have worked a little harder on other aspects of the printer that may not relate directly to the actual image.

btw, the whole time it took me to type this review, the Epson print software STILL hadn''t figured out it cannot print due to the Printer''s NIC card not communicating! How about a little better error-checking? I wish Canon were better, but they''re really not. They seem to have budget issues caused by shareholders, too.

My HP 890C inkjet printer stopped feeding properly some months ago. I had extra ink cartridges on hand, and they''re expensive, so I continued to use it, even though I was hand-feeding just about everything. It was a rare occasion when it fed two sheets of ordinary copy paper consecutively. So, finally I gave up in disgust and bought the Photosmart 7150 Inkjet a few days ago.



It feeds well, and tonight I just finished printing 32 old family black and white photos, four copies of each,4 up on each 8.5" X 11" sheet of Kodak glossy photopaper.

The quality is superb! At least as good as the prints you would expect from a quality photo shop. I should say that, on the best quality setting, the printer is extremely slow. But the quality makes the wait worthwhile. Also, it assists in the drying for the picture to come through slowly.



I had a heck of a time getting 4 up of the same picture on a single sheet. Finally, I went to Corel Draw 8 (Corel Photo Paint

didn''t help) and imported 4 copies of the same picture and enlarged them to fill the sheet. It worked fine, and now I know how to do it in the future.



The printer is inexpensive, and I hope it continues to feed properly. The best printer I ever had was an HP Laserjet, which I bought in 1989. My experience with that one keeps me coming back to Hewlett Packard. I''ve had three or four printers since then, and except for the 890C they''ve all met my expectations.



Now, if only they would come up with a printer that was fast, as well as capable of good quality...

The 4"x6" tray is a plus for album & framed prints and the 8x10 tray is fine for multiple prints on one page (called albums). I use desktop publishing programs to create collages of pictures as well. The photo print quality of the HP is magnificent! People who see my photos cannot believe a printer produced them with such vivid color and clarity. This is my third HP and the results just keep getting better. The 7150 is stylish and well designed. The printer has a 4 x 6 photo tray that allows 20 sheets of photo paper to be loaded and printed in a batch mode directly from HP''s excellant photo printing / album layout software. Even with the 20 sheets of 4 x 6 paper loaded you can still print on regular paper via a lower paper tray. Prints using the photo color cartridge are stunning. I have to say I sold my Epson 820 in no time flat and even made my Canon friend blush when he saw how incredible the prints are. As always the big advantage to HP is the quality. These printers don''t jam, don''t need head cleaning and don''t require tweaking to get the results you see on screen.

Since every other printer I have (Samsung, Sony, Epson, Kodak) works fine in Vista (I''m in the photo biz and have a lot of printers!), I can only conclude that HP is doing something "nonstandard" in its driver and if it followed the rules for writing a printer driver it would have worked.

If you think you may run Vista, do NOT buy this printer.

HP''s support web site gave me the run-around....it referred me to a page that did not include information for this device.

I have used this printer with a Presario XP computer. It has been flawless in photo printing, graphic output, and is a draft mode workhorse. I give it five stars for: durability, performance, and quality.

Now you should know: HP will NOT provide a VISTA printer driver. That means you CANNOT use this printer in VISTA. I have spent over one week attempting to use various HP print drivers to no avail. I have contacted HP. Their response: HP will not support this printer in VISTA buy a new printer.

I bought this printer with the "kit" since it was the only one that actually came with a battery. The paper feeder is clumsy, especially when compared to a Canon.

I ran into soem trouble installing it with Windows XP. I tried using the IR port and the HP 350 driver that came with XP (the driver on the supplied CD-ROM will NOT work with XP). It printed out as if it was a double image of everything. I called HP (after having sent one printer back for a similar problem) and after some experimentation, they suggested I tried using the HP 320 driver. That did the trick, no more problems. But, the printer is only a few days old.....

A year ago my company bought 300 of these printers. Since then, HP has had to replace 30% of the sheet feeders -an obvious design flaw. Luckily they are still paying for those out of warranty. We also have had to send more than 20% of them back to HP for repair -flashing ink cartridge light (even on fresh cartridge), won''t print. HP is NOT paying for these now. Instead, they charge us [price](+ shipping) for each repair, plus downtime. We are going to try a Canon printer next. Most everything else HP makes, including the fabulous Jornada''s our reps use, are good quality. But these Deskjet 350s obviously have serious design flaws. HP won''t step up to the plate and help with repairs; so here is my NEGATIVE review.

One thing that this printer has in common with the Brother is the fact that the ink system has seperate colors and the printer head isn''t built into the cartridge. I got this all-in-one in a package deal with a camera. I have been using Canon printers for the last eight years or so. Compared to the Canon the Epson is really slow and the inks cost about 25% more and run out faster. The scanner works fine.

Yes, it is a cheap printer and I bought it just for the scanning feature. Cheap Flatbed Scanners are around $80. So the Epson NX300 for $47 at Sam''s Club is the cheapest scanner I could find. And so far it scans just fine for my purposes... Mostly backup documents at 300dpi resolution.

However, I feel their advertisment about the print speed is misleading... (I know, they do have a fine print saying that the speed is estimated for draft mode... but who really reads the fine print, especially when you are at the store looking at the box and would need reading glasses to read it). Under regular printing (not even high quality), take the advertised speed and divide it by about 20 and you will be there. So the estimated 30ppm for b/w comes out to be about 1.5ppm. This makes it by far the slowest printer I have ever owned. If I would have bought it as a primary home or office printer, it would go back to the store tomorrow.

Now to the cost of ink... at the moment it doesn''t matter which printer you buy. Printer ink from ALL printer manufacturers is expensive and that is an understatement. If you calculate the cost of ink per cartridge and convert these tiny amounts into gallons your price will be around $5,000 /gallon printerink. No, this is not a typo. I meant fivethousand!!!! Doesn''t matter if it''s an HP, Epson, Canon, etc. (Well, maybe Kodak printers... They have the cheapest inkprice per cartridge: You get a doublepack of black for about $10 at Sams for the Kodak, but I have not researched enough how much they hold or if they just put a very small amount in their cartridges to warrant the price) Refilling is no longer easy for new printers and their cartridges, since all these Epson, HP, Canon stuff is now microchipped. So you can''t refill, the printer knows and refuses to print unless you know how or invest into software that is able to reset / reprogram that dreaded ink cartridge chip. These new cartridges also have an expiration date. So you can not stockpile cheap ink. When the expiration date arrives, the cartridge will be unusable (= reads empty) even though it is brand new out of the box. Some printers, like my HP Officejet Pro L7590, croak if you put aftermarket cartridges in it!!! (I am now on the third replacement from HP for the L7590.. So far free hence under warrenty!) I suggest to hold on to your old inkjets. They usually print fine, so does my 7 year old HP deskjet 990cse and it has the old fashioned, non-microchiped, easily refillable cartridges that are still available. And it prints faster then the brandnew Epson NX300!

I had an Epson previously and loved it. Then I got a Lexmark. Very expensive cartridges. I saw this for a steal price at Sam''s Club (sorry Amazon) so got it. It''s very easy to set up (it didn''t come with a USB cable so I used the Lexmark''s). The instructions and software are very good.

I had a very large document to print. Fifteen pages in it crushed 2 pages. I couldn''t find in the Epson software how to print these 2 pages. I called tech support. The tech had no clue once he actually understood what I wanted to do. I got his supervisor. She was smart, understood, knew, explained you now go through your word processing program. Great.

Printed out the entire 250 pages with no further issues. It''s not dark dark and I would prefer to see the black more saturated but I don''t see where to tweak that function. I also don''t know how to turn the printer off. Pressing the on button doesn''t do it. Whatever it is it''s counterintuitive.

I ordered some generic cartridges for $7 each, buy 2 get 1 free, free shipping. Always used generics with the last Epson and never had a problem. Get the best deal possible on ink and you''ll be a happy person.

So I think of this as a disposable--it''s a delivery system for ink. If it lasts a year it owes me nothing at the price I paid. This is something for home use, not high volume for office use but it''s a decent printer with all the scan/copy/fax functions you could want.

I purchased this paper for it''s parchment look and heavy weight. I used it to make the programs for my upcoming wedding and they turned out great! I used a laser jet printer, (only problem here was I had to print one at a time as the card stock is so thick any more than one page at a time would get stuck in the printer) cut out hearts (two per sheet) and glued the two sheets of paper together onto a popsicle stick to make my programs into fans for our guests, as we''re getting married outside at the beginning of September. The paper worked great, was no problem to glue together, and didn''t run or smear the ink. Great price and great quality paper. Thanks!

I used this cardstock for most of the paper products needed for our wedding (everything but the invitations and save the dates). We used it for programs, welcome letters, escort cards, table numbers, menus, and favor tags. It was easy to use in my home inkjet printer, didn''t smudge, and held both black and color inks beautifully. I tried it in my office''s laser printer, and it did smudge. I don''t know if that was the fault of the cardstock (which is smooth), or the printer. But since it''s easy enough to do at home (especially with the replacement ink I also bought on Amazon), I didn''t mind doing everything at home. It''s a nice weight that holds up just fine for uses like table numbers (they weren''t in a frame, just the card itself in a holder), and folds nicely (I used a bone folder, but probably could have just used a ruler) for the programs and welcome letters.

This is very nice, hard, paper. We used it as a certificate for a completion of a camp. The black ink printed very nicely on it as the paper was not too dark. It also is stiff enough to not make it looks cheap. The camp was western themed so this paper fit perfectly with that theme as it resembled the color of the old "wanted" signs of the wild west. I will be sure to re-use.
