This miserable printer will make you miserable. I''ve had a list of problems a mile long, Xerox will help you if you have lots of money.
Cons:
EXPENSIVE TO PRINT, POWER ON OR POWER RESET SUCKS $15 WORTH OF INK EACH TIME.
LOUD, "LOUD" IS UNDERSTATING THE NOISE THIS THING MAKES. VERY LOUD.
CONSUMABLES COST A SMALL FORTUNE.
IMAGE QUALITY SUFFERS DUE TO THE FACT IT REALLY IS ONLY CAPABLE OF 600DPI DESPITE THE MILEADING ADVERTISING.
REPLACED PRINT HEAD ONCE VERY EXPENSIVE, NOW THERE IS A HARD DRIVE ERROR. I REPLACED THE HARD DRIVE, STILL HAVE HARD DRIVE ERROR. XEROX SAYS IT''S A POWER SUPPLY PROBLEM.
IT WILL BE A COLD DAY SOMEWHERE WHEN I BUY ANOTHER SOLID INK PRINTER FROM XEROX.
NETWORK SCANNING IS NOT AS EASY AS IT SHOULD BE.
CLEARING INK HEADS WHEN THEY GET CLOGGED CAN BE TIME CONSUMING AND ALSO VERY COSTLY.
I HAVE ONLY USED ORIGINAL XEROX INK INCASE ANYONE WAS WONDERING.
YOU WILL NOT SAVE MONEY PRINTING WITH SOLID INK EVEN IF YOU GET THE 8860 WHCIH IS SUPPOSED TO BE CHEAPER TO RUN.

I work in IT and work on a lot of printers and multifunction devices. A lot of my clients have the Xerox Phaser 8500 series printers and multifunction devices, and so far they have either been happy with them. The 8560MFP/D is the multifunction version of the Phaser 8560 printer. I reviewed the Phaser, and it''s a great machine. Excellent print quality, fast print speeds, lots of features, simple to use and set up. It had a few gremlins, but they were manageable and nothing major. The MFP is no different. It adds scanning, copying, and faxing abilities. Mechanically, every function works very good. I am especially impressed with the scanner and copier. Scans were completed in less than 6 seconds.
You can do Adobe Postscrip or PCL3, PDF, or JPEG outputs with customizable templates. You can plug it in USB or use it over a network with an ethernet connection. It doesn''t have WiFi capability, but that''s not such a bad thing for a commercial device. It''s good for home users, but WiFi can be too unreliable for a business setting where reliability is key. There are buttons for each function, and a separate menu on the display for each function with its own parameters and settings. The menus were a little confusing to use and there are a lot of functions to navigate through, so there is a learning curve. I think Xerox could have made the menus a little easier to understand, especially for someone who''s not technically savvy, but with that many functions and parameters it would have been difficult.
The instructions were about useless, and I am thinking they''re meant for the IT department. On the plus side, when the printer is first installed, it will print out a status page and configuration pages that include a layout of the various menus and submenus to make navigating them a little easier. I thought that is a very nice touch and so far all of the newer 8500 series ColorCubes/Phasers have this function. The CD-ROM software also includes a set-up video, which is weird because they also include instructions in the box.
The MFP is designed for high volume printing, with a max rating of 6,000 pages or 85,000 images per month. Like the Phaser, this machine uses the same wax ink cubes that make the prints come out with a raised look which makes the text and graphics "pop." The downside is that you can''t hot laminate the prints as the heat would melt the ink and make it smudge. On the upside, you can use the same type of media as traditional laser printers without having to worry about things melting because this isn''t a "thermal" type imaging system. The Phaser works like an inkjet, but the ink for this is actually a waxy liquid that''s sprayed onto the paper in sections, one for each color, and then blended to make different colors. It''s a little like a can of spray paint, except it''s wax. Pretty ingenious.
You can''t really turn it off as the ink is kept in a liquid state inside the machine, and when the power is turned off or it''s reset and the heater stops working, the printer ejects the melted ink into a waste tank to keep it from solidifying and clogging the print head. The ink cubes last a long time, but are expensive at around $140 for a set, and when combined with the fact you have to keep it turned on all the time makes the MFP, like the Phaser, mainly suited for a commercial application. It will hold over 600 sheets of paper up to 32lb stock, and you can add extra storage to it. You could use it at home, but it''s huge and heavy and would take up a lot of space, so not really that practical for a home user.
For all the good things about the MFP, I can testify to the other reviewers'' comments about the dreadful and clunky scanning software. In a word it is horrible. I just did a job to fix a very buggy and unreliable scan utility that would lock up before and during a scan, requiring a force close and sometimes a reboot. I had to go back today to fix the other MFP in the same office that had the same problem. It took 3 hours (lots of money) to rectify the problem and get it working again. That was a good sized bill for the customer for a malfunctioning and buggy scan software. The printer worked just fine, which is what I have come to expect from Epson.
As much as I don''t like the scanner software, I still gave it 4 stars just because I really like the 8500 series. Xerox needs to go back to the drawing board with the scanning software, but otherwise this is a fantastic multifunction machine. The software problem, however, might be enough to deter some buyers. Granted, this is a random occurrance, but still something to keep in mind.
Pro''s:
Great print quality
Fast printing, scanning, and copying
Lots of features
Handles a wide variety of media
Ink lasts a long time
High duty cycle
Con''s:
Unreliable and clunky scan driver
Ink is expensive
Can''t be shut down without wasting expensive ink
So if you own a business or have a need for a quality machine that can handle big print jobs with great print quality in color and monochrome, give the Phaser MFP a look. There are other options out there that offer more in the way of features and user-friendliness, but cost more and can''t handle high print job counts on a single set of inks/toner. My customers are happy with them (Just had another one buy a ColorCube!).

This is expensive, full of problems and piece of junk machine. Inks cost a fortune and this eats them up (or melts them) even if you are not suing the machine. Takes good five minutes to warm up before any print comes out. Seems like I have to add ink everytime I print and it costs a fortune for a single print. Never buy a solid ink printer from them. Would like to get rid of this for cents let alone dollars.Want Xerox 8560MFP/D Phaser 8560 Multi-Function Color Printer Discount?
You will stand around waiting for this machine each time you use it. This goes for copying, faxing and scanning. This is due to the ink sticks it uses and it has to "warm up" even to send a fax. The Xerox scanning soft ware is poorly designed as well. This is a waste of time and infuriating when you need to get things done quickly. Poor value overall, and after 2 years the machine jams on every page printed now. I am not even going to call out the repair guy. If I can get $50 selling this on ebay it will be good ridance for a dog of a performer. Buy a Fujitsu Scan Snap S510 if you want an excellent scanner.Lexmark PerfectFinish Photo Paper Save 25% off

While somewhat more expensive than generic store brand photo paper, the quality difference in the final prints makes it worthwhile to pay the extra, at least for our family photos and business product pictures.
Highly recommended! The best photo paper to use with your Lexmark printer. The colors came out very well, and it''s easy to use. The only thing is to look closely to make sure you load it in the right place in the paper tray. This is an excellent paper for this size professional ,at a a very cheap price I strongly recommend this paper as substitute of Epson paper better than Kodak and others.

I previously used the smaller package which contained printer cassette and paper for 36 prints. This larger package contains 3 color ink cassettes and 6 packs of postcard-sized photo paper, each containing 18 sheets for a total of 108 prints. Though dealers sell this kit for less, you do have to pay shipping and handling. I saved some by purchasing two of these from a dealer listed by Amazon. This kit works with Canon CP-100, CP-200, CP-300. CP-220,CP-330, CP400,CP500. CP600, CP510 amd CP710 printers.Read Best Reviews of Canon KP-108IP Color Ink/Paper Set Here
I purchased the Canon KP-108IP ink and paper set to use as part of my new Canon A520 Power Shot Camera and Canon Selphy CP510 photo printer. I was tired of sending film to mail-in developing sevices and having it lost in the mail. We don''t have nearby decent film developing where I live either. I bought the 108 print pack which includes ink and paper. I''ve copied about 20 photos so far and the quality has been excellent-certainly as good as the typical 1 hour photo processing commercial operations. What is nice is that you don''t have unidentified people getting their jollies off gazing at your photos as they drop out of the machine. They are printed out on handy 4x6 inch size postcards which are easy to send to friends and relatives.
I''ve been a believer in Canon products for 25 years now and these are no exception. I recommend these items.

It''s the equivalent of buying the kp-36 3 times over which would otherwise be $30. I use this paper with the cp220 printer, and it works great. It''s still cheaper than paying to have 108 prints developed : )I was very impressed with the quality of the prints with this product. No more smudges or wet ink transferring off the paper like other products I have used. Just instantly picture Perfect.Robin

I''m an experienced photographer, and take lots of photos. The problem, according to my wife, is that I don''t print enough of them, especially the ones SHE likes. So I decided to buy her a small 4x6 photo printer. She doesn''t want to learn Photoshop or anything like that. She just wants to press a button and get a photo.
I chose the HP 375 because it had a popup LCD screen to preview the shots. Obviously, she doesn''t want to print every shot we take. The other printers I considered, Canon and Epson, did not have LCD screens.
On the whole, I''m pleased with the printer. The 4x6 photos come out with beautiful resolution and color. I compared some to ones I printed with my full-size Epson Photo 785EPX after a bit of adjustment with Photoshop, and thought the HP did a bang-up job. My wife just plugs the memory card into the printer and starts printing. There''s no need to connect to the computer.
Furthermore, I found that it will print equally well on cheaper photo paper. I tried Kirkland (from Costco) and a box of Kodak paper that would not print well on my Epson printer.
On the downside: there are serious software issues, at least with our unit. It periodically freezes, and the only way to resume is with a hard reboot... basically unplugging it and starting from scratch. That''s no fun when you''re dealing with a 512 MB memory card. And lately, for no reason, after printing a photo, it asks whether we want to "deselect all photos." At no point, had we "selected" any photos except the one we were printing.
I explained the problems to HP via their "online tech support chat" which took forever to even load (using ActiveX). The only response before they ended the session was: "I understand." They even emailed me a transcript of the entire chat, which showed that they ended the session, it wasn''t a glitch or online problem.
I then emailed info about the problems to their tech support folks via their "email us" option, and received a message that was filled with unusual sentence structures and bad grammar, leading me to believe it was either written by a robot or someone in a foreign country. Basically their response was to unplug the printer and reboot.
I find this to be an unsatisfactory way of dealing with what appears to be a software bug.
The cost per print, using HP supplies, is fairly steep. A box containing 125 sheets of 4x6 paper, and an ink cartridge costs about $45. I calculate that as 36-cents per print. The Epson is the only personal photo printer to advertise its price per print, claiming 29-cents. Again, I plan to use Kirkland photo paper to reduce our costs.
Bottom line: the photos look great, but they''re expensive and there are irritating problems with the printer''s software.

A really superb printer. It makes the most beautiful prints I have ever seen, its fast, very easy to use and nice looking.I had purchased the new Olymus Verve, could not get good prints on my HP 1350, was driving me a bit nuts.
Prints were poor.
Got the HP yesterday, and started printing from the Olympus Verve XD card, wow, is all I can say now, fabulous results.
The features on it are great and sooo easy to use.
Great job by HP, the best I have ever seen, had previously gotten a Sony dye sublimation printer which was not so good, this HP is the king of hill
Totally delighted, was even more delighted when I found there was a $30.00 rebate.I ordered this from amazon. Recieveing the printer, it looked like the item was packed by a family of gorillias. There was no air packs in the box. What was amazon thinking? It clearly went into the box alright the only thing that saved the box was the strofoam inserts HP put in. The printer itself is mint. Do not listen to the negative reports what I like best it is not dependant on my computer or it''s software to run. You simply put in the card from your camera, scroll through your photos, enhance it if you wish, put a frame on it if you wish, crop, many tools built into the machince. It does print in 60 seconds. You can put 4 photos in the space of a 4 x 6 photo with or wothout frames. Beautiful prints! Do not be decieved into thinking there is room for more than one cartridge. It is either color photos or black and white photos or sephia which is an old fashioned finish. I ordered the internal battery and bag from Hp since it is not available on amazon. I am looking forward to the portability of the machince. Good value, although costco had it cheaper by $20.00, outside of that I am quite pleased.my canon 510 got glowing reviews just about across the board, but not this printer. i have very little space, and needed something small just for photos. so, even though there were many negative reviews i went ahead and bought it. couldn''t be happier! colour fabulous! and when you print on stock paper you can use photo to do some extra artwork on. I LOVE IT.

I purchased this because I know my printer eats ink like there is no tomorrow (ungrateful brat :P).Ink usually lasts me around 2-3 months of school. This lasted only a few days, and all I printed were around 50 pages of mere writing (not even pictures).
I''m pretty sure this isn''t my printer''s fault since this was a pretty "large, wholesome meal."
Maybe it''s just me, but I think I would rather just pay full-price at somewhere like Office Max or Staples (gee, that would have been Easy). It just isn''t even worth the hassle buying something that will have to be replaced so suddenly.
Anyways, I hope this review helps you. :)I bought two cartridges about eight months ago and used one of them right away and it worked fine. I am now trying to use the second one and it will not print. I get blank pages so I can only assume that this cartridge is defective. I will not order from this place again.I have ordered HP74 ink from this company twice and about 1/2 of the cartridges work. This is the last time I will order from them.
