Moab Colorado Fiber Satin Textured Archival Inkjet Paper

The printer is very well packed. The print head comes un-installed. I had a little apprehension putting in the print head. The gray bar that is raised has a stiff spring. It would not be the first time I have pulled something too hard, but there are no locks or catches. It just lifts up. The head went in smooth as did ink installation. The next step is to put power on and wait for the printer to align. This takes some time. The printer werrs, pops, grinds, sounds like it is trying to load paper, but eventually prints, JUST WAIT.
After plugging in the Ethernet cable, the network light came on, and pressing the light got me a network printout. (However, it was not necessary). From here you put the disk in the computer and follow instructions. I installed the printer on three computers, a desktop wired to network, and Asus EEEpc, wireless (copy all files to a usb and run setup from the usb), and a laptop also wireless. The desktop with Vista required me to except port 427, the Asus running XP required nothing, and the Laptop running Vista and Zone Alarm required reconfiguring Zone Alarm. The good thing is the firewall changes required were somewhat explained by the software. The Zone Alarm instructions were better than the Windows FireAlarm instructions.
I have read many of the ''professional'' reviews on this printer. Now that I have it installed and have printed several test prints, some thoughts. Print speed, is well within acceptable limits. In fact I read one review that said it was too slow. I disagree with that. I also read that the ''Photo'' quality was not good. Well it is certainly good enough. It does make noise, however, it is no worse that most other HP ink jets I have dealt with. It is not a factor for me, but it it were I would pick the Wireless model and stick the thing in a closet somewhere.
I would highly recommend this printer to anyone looking for no frills printing. I particularly like the cost of ink! While I have refilled carts before, at $9.99 for color carts, for 300 pages and $14.99 for 700 pages, I don''t think I will mess with it. The black XL cart is suppose to print 1,200 pages that is almost 5 reams of paper!

This printer is very pretty and the cartridges for it are really cheap, but it doesn''t get very many pages per cartridge and when I tried to install it on my Windows 7 machine, following the instructions that came with the printer didn''t work. It says not to plug in the printer until you''ve installed the software, but the disk that comes with the printer does not have Windows 7 drivers. I was going to send the printer back until I tried just plugging it into the computer and letting it go. Luckily the computer was smart enough to find drivers for the printer without the disk.Once the printer was installed and I tried to print something, I noticed the printer takes its good sweet time printing things, so if you''re looking for something super speedy you may want to look elsewhere.
Also note: THIS PRINTER DOES NOT COME WITH THE USB CABLE TO CONNECT IT TO THE COMPUTER! This printer does not have wireless capability so you need the cable to use the printer.
I didn''t see that before I bought it. Luckily I had an extra cord lying around, but others may not be so lucky.
Overall for the price however I am very happy with this little machine. No major problems I can see so far, and I''ve printed a good number of things since I purchased it.

I''ve used the HP 6000 for only a short time (printing a hundred pages or so), but have found it excellent so far. Installation, though a bit slow, went easily. Printing speed in fast draft is exceptional (about 3 seconds a page) and the quality good. Communications between the printer and my computer could be faster, too, but once it goes to work it zips. I replaced an older Dell 920 with this printer and have been very impressed with the ease of set up and installation. It''s a little noisy but print quality is much better than I expected at this price. I like the 250 page paper feed tray.Installation was somewhat problematic as others have mentioned. But if you follow the directions (mostly pictures with few words), and you are brave enough to lift the really stiff bar to put the print heads in, and then twist the levers on the cartridges until they snap off (yes you are supposed to break them off !), then it goes OK. Just notice the 10-minute symbol in the section of the instructions where you let it do its initial auto alignment. It sounds like its trying to feed paper many, many times. But its actually doing its alignment (or something) dance all that time. The hint is the 10-minute clock symbol in the picturial instruction sheet. Miss it and you will think the thing is having trouble loading paper. Don''t force feed it more paper. It eventually brought in the paper (after about 10 minutes) without any problem. Then its time to install the software.
The software spends an absurd amount of time doing seemingly nothing. (What in the world can a printer driver software set be doing for all this time ?! Half the time it is not even accessing the disk just chewing on the processor...) Once it finishes "checking the system", it then wants to install lots of utilities (and marketing stuff). I told it to not do most of them. Just the needed ones that were not possible to de-select, and the "solution center" which I wanted. After a few more minutes, it was finally done.
So how''s the print quality? It''s good. Somewhat of an improvement over my old 895cse, in both fast-econ, and in normal (everyday printing) modes. So that''s a good thing.
In summary, this is probably an OK, or maybe even good printer for the price, for the home environment where I''ll be using it. But I would NOT recommend this for an office. It''s not a business grade printer in my opinion and I would go nuts if I was periodically printing small batches and had to listen to it all day...

This is the first cartridge I have had to buy for my Samsung ML-2851ND printer. i inserted it, and it went to printing right away. The printer firmware properly identified the cartridge, and my prints are clear again. What more can you say about a replacement toner cartridge?I think what is of more interest to owners of the printers that use this cartridge is whether or not the useful life is going to be as advertised. I replaced the starter cartridge provided with my printer with this new one. I had to choose the extended life cartridge because of a current class I am taking. The class uses an electronic book instead of a traditional, printed and bound book. I don''t like trying to read books on a computer screen, so have been printing out the chapters of the e-book needed for homework. This takes an enormous amount of paper (even with the duplexer) and toner. Having provided some background about my printing needs, I can say that the cartridge that was replaced lasted just a few pages more than the advertised 2000 pages of the starter/standard cartridge. Since I have left most of my print quality settings at default, I''m hoping this cartridge will yield 5000+ pages per its specification claim. Time will tell and I can update this review then.
April 4, 2011 I have to update this review because I recently had to replace this cartridge with a new one. I went ahead and bought another cartridge of this type, but I am very disappointed with its longevity. My printing habits have not changed since I ordered this first cartridge. However, this cartridge started running out after 4000 pages. That''s 20% less than the rated output for this cartridge. At 4500 pages, this cartridge was completely spent. When the cost of the 2000 page cartridge (basically the same as the starter cartridge) is considered, the cost per page when this cartridge is used is actually higher. I had to lower my rating for this product because of that. If the replacement cartridge of the same type yields a higher output, I''ll update this rating again.
October 25, 2011 I just replaced the second, extended life cartridge after almost 5200 prints. Nothing has changed in my printing habits except that I leave the printer powered on all the time. I have learned from another printer manufacturer that power cycling some laser printers count against the toner counter in the printer firmware. I can''t imagine that would account for almost 700 pages, but I won''t rule out that helping with the life of this last toner. The only other implication is either a lack of uniformity in the production of these toners, or I managed to get the one toner that was under the toner funnel when the toner supply ran short. I''ll leave my rating as-is for now. If the toner life gets more consistent, I will improve it.

I used a generic toner in my Samsung ML-2851ND monochrome laser printer. After about 1000 sheets I began to get streaks and black blotches on my documents. No matter how I cleaned the toner cartridge or the printer, after printing about 20 pages OK, it would start with the streaking again. I was concerned that something was wrong with my printer. On a hunch, I purchased this orginal Samsung toner cartridge, and the problem immediately disappeared.I hate paying the premium price for an original cartridge, but after getting only 1000 good copies out of the generic cartridge I realized I was ahead on cost by going this route. Working well so far. Have printed at least 1000 pages with this cartridge and no degredation in print quality.

Easy to install. Worked instantly. Only complaint was that it was putting a continuous smudge on the right side of the paper. I took it out, cleaned off the roller and shook it gently to spread the toner out. That seemed to do the job.Save 24% off
Cartridge works as it should, I still have some pages coming out a bit curled but most of the time I am pleased with the print. I purchased a generic cartridge first, it was awful, ended up back with the OEM, sometimes that is just necessary.

On the other hand, these cartridges are around 30 bucks a piece and I need 8, so it rather irks me that the cartridges are so small. Perhaps that''s a comment more appropriate for a review of the printer design, but it''s worth noting here.
Also worth noting is that you SHOULD NOT immediately replace the ink cartridge in your HP B9180 when you get a message from it saying that this or that cartridge is about to run out. I say this because, when mine said that, I checked the little meter that tells you how much is left and it said 40% of the cartridge still had ink in it. 40%! To me, 40% is not "about to run out," but I did go ahead and buy an ink cartridge -I just held onto it until it really became obvious that it was no longer printing that color. Only then did I replace the cartridge, because doing otherwise is needlessly wasting money.
I''m not quite cynical enough to say that HP WANTS you to replace (and recycle) the ink cartridges prematurely, but it obviously would make them more money if you do. Just keep your eyes open and you''ll be fine.

Light Grey is the most used ink in my HP B9180. This cartridge has 27ml of ink selling for 27 dollars which is not bad. Canon''s inks are around that price range as well but come in smaller 13ml tanks. Also do check the expiration date of the ink as the chip on the cartridge will yield a warning if the expiration date has been reached. So far expired inks has yield the same result as new inks with no fading for the past year.If you are cheap like me, buy empty tanks online and refill them with HP''s 70 ink used for the Z2100 printers which comes to be $75/130ml. The HP no.70 tanks use the same inks but in a bigger tank.

I use this PhotoSmartPro B8850 printer for fine art reproduction. HP engineers in San Diego did a great job on it. I hope HP keeps supporting it! Papers are becoming scarce. Amazon delivered on time. Product was well within expiration date. Don''t buy this ink from any seller unless they can tell you it is within expiration date, otherwise your printer will make you shut down and use ink in between each print.

Using second cartridge in a new printer so I don''t really know how long this one will last. However, the canon cartridges that were in the printer when purchased were short lived. If these are similar then it will be cheaper to buy a new printer with cartridges included than to purchase the cartridges alone. (I paid 39.00 for the printer),So, if the cartridges last a reasonable time, then I might recommend them to others. 1
