We''ve done everything possible to save on toner (settings, electrical tape trick, etc.) and we''re still not getting half of what the toner claims. Talked to Brother customer service and after checking some things, they decided we were getting the right number of prints out of a cartridge. Further, to recycle you have to physically take it in somewhere, and these suckers are pretty big. I''m using about 6 cartridges per month and that fills up a large box. The overall quality of the foil stickers is great. Heavy duty foil creates a great quality look. I''ve used both the gold and silver labels. The quantity you get per package is good for the price. A little pricier than normal labels, but these aren''t fake foil, but real metallic foil.
Overall, they work great. My one complaint is about how the sheets work with printers. Because these are actual foil labels, printers seem to have a hard time recognizing that there is paper in the machine. I''m constantly getting "no paper" messages and have tried on a variety of laser printers.
I''ve done a lot of research and can''t find any other sheet foil labels except these guys. I wish they were a tad bit bigger the maker only has a few sizes to choose from.

This printer churns out pages in laser-sharp quality, scans quickly to a usb drive, copies quickly, scans and prints double-sided and easily works with both Macs and PCs over the ethernet network (although I did not try scanning over the network, so that may or may not work. I also don''t use the fax feature because we have a dedicated machine for those increasingly rare times when someone uses a fax).We''ve used this in our office for about a year, and so far I don''t think the paper has jammed once. It''s just a reliable performer that you don''t need to think about.
The only problem I''ve had is setting up the email client for the printer. Supposedly, you should be able to email scans, but it won''t connect with our email server.

This multifunction printer does all that it promises quickly, quietly, and relatively simply. In setting up some of the logging and network (especially scan-to-email) parameters, I found it slightly more helpful to work from Lexmark''s Markvision client/server software (downloadable from Lexmark along with a printer-specific plug-in that makes all of the 364dn''s features accessible) than from the printer''s built-in web page. The big question is durability; how long will the duplex and paper-feeder mechanics hold up? At least for now, the printer is great!Purchasing from Amazon was efficient and cheap == thanks.

Looked at reviews for reliable, low cost per copy, fast, consumer grade copier-printer. Lexmark came out at the top. This is our first experience with a consumer grade machine the 35cpm duplexing RADF machine we kept at home after closing our copier business a decade ago was starting to break.Unboxed and set it up with no problems, got it networked easily enough. We will not use the fax feature. Could have used wireless networking, but chose the variant without it based on price. Scanning works OK, but not as handy as our Fujitsu ScanSnap.
Having been in the copier business, we knew that speed sells; customers changing to a slower machine were invariably disappointed. When I hit "Print" the paper is in the output tray by the time I turn around. Nice. No waiting.
Have had the machine more than a month now, not through the original toner cartridge.

This is the first time I have tried a non-photo printer, using this HP Officejet 6500A All In One model. If you are wondering what the difference is between a photo printer and an office printerit''s the colors. With my Photosmart, I have 2 extra light ink colorscyan (blue) and magenta (pink) shades. These 2 extra ink shades give you a full array of even the slightest color variations. Working in art and photography, I noticed a slight color difference in certain shades. For a professional artist making photographs or great color prints, this is not the printer for you. For the average office or home use, non-professional photo prints or just needing a regular printer, this printer is superb.
This HP Officejet 6500A All In One machine includes 4 devicesa printer, copier, scanner and fax machine. What you get for the money is one great machine. This machine has earned the Energy Star, which means it will save you money, since it met the Energy Star program''s test method criteria. Energy Star''s savings rating on this machine, states you will use 40% less energy than on any comparable laser machine. I look for Energy Star''s ratings whenever I buy any appliance, as saving energy means saving both fuel and money. Another big money saver is buying the HP inks in the XL sizes. The machine itself measures 18.75 inches x 16.11 inches x 10.13 inches. It weighs almost 18 pounds. Maximum printing speeds are up to 32 pages per minute with black ink and up to 31 for colorspeeds equivalent to laser printers. This does not have duplex printing features (2 sided). It does have borderless printing options. You can use your memory cards for direct photo printing. You can by-pass your PC by inserting a memory card in one of the slots and use the 2.36 inch touch screen to print. The memory cards supported are secure digitalalso high capacity, multimedia and secure multimedia card, reduced size multimedia card, mmc mobile and mmc micro mini (adapter not included), memory stick and memory stick duo and pro. COPIER4 1/2 StarsYou can copy in color up to 31 cpm and in black up to 32 cpm. The maximum number of copies is up to 100. The copy scaling is from 25 to 100%. The copier is quite good and rates above average.
SCANNER4 1/2 Stars I am quite spoiled with always owning an Epson Perfection Photo Scanner for the last 10 years. So I am comparing a truly perfect scanner with this HP one that is included in this All In One machine. This Scanner type is a Flatbed 8.5 x 11.7 and also an ADF 8.5 x 14. These are good maximum document sizes for general use and office use scanning. It does have real life technologies with a 48 bit scanner depth. The scanner resolution for optical is up to 4800 dpi. This scans above average, but not quite as sharp as my Epson Perfection scanner. I notice tiny minute details from spending decades fixing old photos from the late 1800''s, so the average person might call this scanner excellent, where I consider this above average as I am used to much more pixel detail I get from my Epson Perfection.
FAX MACHINE5 STARSThis Fax Machine has a transmission speed of 3 seconds per page. The Fax resolution is up to 300 x 300 dpi. The incoming fax memory is up to 100 pages, with fax speed dials up to 100 numbers. You can fax fast at up to 33.6 kpbs. The connectivity is a standard built in ethernet with a USB 2.0. There is no wireless capability. You can quickly fax or scan to a PC or Email. With this built in ethernet, you can stay connected and share resources. The speed and smoothness on this efficient fax machine give it a high 5 star rating with me.
Overall, this HP Officejet 6500A All In One gets a 4.75 STAR rating from me, with it''s usual great printer, super fast fax, and better than average copier and scanner. Many of my friends have some of the latest All In One Machines that I have heard complaints about, from the bugs and how non smoothly they run. This machine is unbelievably smooth and fast and when more people use and review it, it will definitely rank high on the Hewlett Packard website. It is actually better than some of their other models I''ve heard about, and may prove to be their best model to date. Add to this Hewlett Packard''s great support and web site that helps you with any problems, downloads, drivers and manuals, and you have a great 4 in one printer, copier, scanner and fax machine for the money.

HP sent me an email showing this model on sale. I already had an older Photosmart C7180 but I thought this one might be better it had an ADF for one thing. After setting it up, it wouldn''t print. Had to call tech support at India Central, and I spent four hours with a nice enough fellow who, alas, didn''t know much about the printer. Okay, so it finally would print.But it wouldn''t scan. I then did some checking and found out most people had the same problem. The scan software didn''t work, or if it did, you had to reconnect it to the computer each and every time you wanted to scan something. If you have a big stack of photos to scan, this is impossible.
Today I spent two hours with tech support, and they finally admitted I had a bad printer. "But! We will send you another!" I just laughed and told him he was going to send me a return address slip and give me my money back. He finally gave in.
This printer is meant to be disposable. HP makes the big bucks off the toner.
Next time I want to buy an HP product, I''m going to read the users forums very carefully. I could have saved six hours, and at my age, that''s kinda crucial. And finally HP printer software usually provides you with an HP Solution Center that makes the various functions very easy. The 6500A does NOT have it, and from what the tech told me, it never will. It has, you see, this cute little color touchscreen that doesn''t do much at all.

This is a great printer and it served my needs well. I don''t have much desk space, so having an all-in-one product was a great solution. It takes up about 19 by 15 inches of desk space. It is a very good looking printer... sleek and all black. The printer came with a 23 page Getting Started Guide and also a quick start chart which made it easy to get everything up and running. I chose the network (Ethernet) connection to connect my printer and it was fairly easy to get started with my printing. It was a good thing I had a spare usb cable to connect the printer to my computer, because it wasn''t included. So far I have been really happy with the quality of the print outs, both color and black prints. I don''t know how long the ink cartridges will actually last, but they are supposed to be high capacity cartridges with "the lowest cost per page compared with in-class inkjet all-in-ones." We used HP 6150''s for years. Dozens of them. They worked great. We had a failure rate of about 1 every year of about 30 machines. Eventually, the 6150 was no longer available, so we switched to the 6500. Huge mistake. This printer is terrible. 2/10 fail straight out of the box. Several more failed with a few months. All 10 have completely failed within the 1st year. The ink system is garbage. The printheads, ink cartridges clog so easily it''s not even funny. HP has literally costs our business $1000''s in downtime, repair time, ink and replacement. I would not recommend this or ANY HP product to anyone again. We''ve had the same issue with the 7000 Large Format''s as well.Where the HP really shines is in the printing function. It is quick and the print quality is really good. I printed some color photo cards on matte paper with both printers, and the colors were a bit richer and brighter on the Epson, but the difference was not dramatic. I also print out a lot of sheet music (I edit for several composers), and the HP does a beautiful job very clear, clean and crisp. I needed to print some concert fliers that included a photo of the artist as well as text, and those came out much better on the HP, which surprised me. Those were printed on HP Premium Presentation Paper. Normal everyday printing is also high quality.
The copier is also good for everyday usage and fairly quick. The color copying isn''t quite as bright as the original documents, but for normal use, it''s fine.
I was disappointed in the scanner. For single page documents, it''s okay, and you have the option of scanning to a computer or a storage device, but if the documents are several pages, you have to scan one page at a time and then put the documents in folders. The Epson asks after each page if you want to add more pages or save, so multiple-page documents are saved as one document rather than several individual pages. I also really like the preview function on the Epson which lets you see if you have the document centered correctly very helpful when scanning from books. I also found that the scans are not nearly as clean on the HP, with heavy black areas on the sheet music, so I''m not thrilled with that function.

The Epson is truly a wireless printer, but the HP uses the internet to connect to various machines in a network. I print from four different computers, and they all work fine. There have been a couple of times, however, when I had to turn the HP off and back on to reset it before it would print. The HP is supposed to print from phones and iPads, but I haven''t tried that (my phone isn''t connected to the internet and I don''t have an iPad).
For a fairly inexpensive printer, the HP is a very good buy. If you do a lot of scanning of multiple-page documents, I''d recommend the Epson. Otherwise, I think you''ll be very pleased with the HP.

I am pleased with the quality of this product I recieved from Amazon. My FAX unit is a few years old but still working well and I hesitate to upgrade the technology. I purchaced four "rolls" of the necessary print film at a good price and will probably use this for another few years. At which time, I am sure to "up-grade" to some newer technology. Do not be fooled by the 2 packs that are affordably priced. They do not bring much ribbon, it''s just like the ribbon that comes with the machine when you first purchase it.

and they are pretty good until you run out of ink.
The Ink can print you about 2-3 months worth if used every
other day or so. But our customers, including ourselves,
have had nothing but head aches when it comes to changing
Ink Cartridges. 47 Customers have complained it will NOT
ACCEPT ''GENUINE'' Epson Cartridges. We owned 4 of them and
all 4 are currently wrapped up in their boxes ready to throw
out or send to a recycling center. All 4 printers
printed through 1 ink cycle then they started rejecting all
ink replacements. We bought ink here at Amazon rejected.
We tried the tech trick of pulling out the electrical cord,
and the USB cord, and it did accept 2 or 3 cartridges,
but eventually it started to reject all of them in time.
Keep in mind this printer has gotten fairy good reviews
the past year some individuals are being successful
with the printer but we suspect many reviews were
written before their 1st ink cycle went dry.
We noticed that (after installing the printers) The Epson
software started accessing the internet (or at least trying
to). This was to block any 3rd party Ink cartridges because
on one of the printers that WAS NOT on the internet it actually
acceptable 1 black ink 3rd party cartridge. The rest were
rejected even the "Genuine" Epson Cartridges.
Its difficult enough to have to purchase expensive
"Genuine" ink for these printers but to have them
rejected by your fairly new printer is appalling. We
have over 46 "genuine" ink cartridges that have been
returned to us (we no longer sell the ink). We used
some of the "rejected" ink on our Epson R260 models
and R280 model (those printers accepted the ink)
simply because the R260, R280 and this model -
"artisan" 50 use the same ink cartridge.
Customers have explained to us this printer model
has difficulty on accepting new cartridges no matter
where you purchased them. We have contacted
Epson by email, phone even writing them a letter,
but they yet to even try to return our messages.
Customers who have purchase this model, and have
not been subjected by the cartridge problem are very
fortunate and we are happy for them.
Overall, Epson has made this printer so INK
CARTRIDGE RESTRICTIVE that it has made us
impossible to recommend to anyone or even
give out for free.
While printing through its first ink cycle, it did
produce fine photos and fairly good text docs,
but after the ink was done it seems so was
the printer.
Update: We installed a CISS system on one
of the printers on Feb 1 2011: rejected.
On January 20th, the same model rejected
"Genuine ink" from a major store front. We
were fortunate to receive a refund on both
occasions. We aren''t trying anymore. Epson
keeps ignoring our calls.

This is a fantastic printer for the casual user, but can be problematic for critical uses.This is the 6th Epson printer we''ve used. When printing out from Adobe Illustrator on all previous models, the size of the printout exactly matches the design.
When trying to print CD inserts on our new Artisan 50, booklets that are designed to be 119.5mm, end up being almost 125mm. May not sound like much, but once they''re cut, they don''t fit in the CD box. It''s very slow and tedious to modify all our layouts that are on file.
Previous models capable of printing on CD''s (such as the Stylus Photo R300) were dead on accurate.
The other annoying problem is that you can''t print from Illustrator directly to CD any longer. That was a great feature of the R300. In the Artisan 50, you have to use their amateurish CD print utility.

This is my first Epson printer. I''ve always owned HP but I was particularly interested in being able to print CD/DVD labels. I''ve owned this printer now for a couple of days and am totally pleased. The directions for getting started were easy, and I was able to begin use immediately. The quality of the labels are excellent, good color, looks professional and it prints quickly. I am not one to usually review products but this one, I found well worth the money, value, and am happy that I made the purchase. The only thing I''d change would be for the software that comes with the CD/DVD printer format, I wish it did more but I find it sufficient. I''d definitely recommend. You have probably read a great deal of reviews about how wonderful the Epson Artisan 50 printer is. And as far as printing goes, especially on CDs, those reviews are spot on. Only one problem. I will wager the overwhelming majority of those 5 star reviews are coming from people who have yet to go through their first replacement cartridge cycle. Oh what a surprise they have in store for them. The SOB corporate scum at Epson engineered the printers to a) use only 60-70% of the ink in their OEM cartridges, b) retailed their own 6 OEM cartridges at prices ranging from a minimum of 350% to over 1200% of what non-OEM ink cartridge suppliers are charging (up to $35 a single cartridge) and c) have a chip-reset technology installed in the printers which will "fail to recognize" the vast majority of all non-OEM catridges and an estimated 33% of the GENUINE OEM cartridges. This is AFTER the company was sued in a 2006 case for doing the exact same thing and then went out and re-engineered the Artisan series of printers to be even WORSE!I swear to gawd, you can''t make this crap up. As is well known, it only requires one cartridge requiring replacement in an Artisan model to disable the entire machine. Meaning that if you have a black print job to do and the yellow or light magenta cartridge is below it''s functional level (usually meaning 30-40% of the ink remains but can''t be used due to the technology they installed to rip people off), you can''t finish your black only print job. And NO...every one of the six colors is NOT required to print black like I have heard some wags out there stating falsely. Even if that were true, in an emergency where you needed to print a single black text page out, you couldn''t even print it in lighter gray to get by. If you buy the non-OEM cartridges you might...just MAYBE get one or two of them to work for 2 or 3 off and on cycles of the printer, but eventually they will require replacement when the orange print light starts blinking and the "non-compatible" error appears on your screen. This is apparently due to the ability of the software to stealth "report" information on the replacement cartridges through Epson''s online access portal and then order the printer to shut down if the information retrieved fails to jibe with an OEM chip code. Even if you buy the OEM cartridges (which I did) and get lucky through the first four or five recycles, once you hit the end cartridge (dark cyan) the party is over. I have yet to hear of an Epson Artisan 50 that made it through two OEM dark cyan replacements without a cartridge rejection. Mine never made it through one. And for the record...Epson claims the ink usage issue is due to their fear of your precious printer being "damaged" should the ink level fall too low. To which I and most others say "BULLS***". The technology doesn''t even read the ink levels...it "estimates" them...all to the manufacturer''s massively profitable cause of "erring on the side of caution". What a surprise.
The bottom line here is that the engineers at Epson set out to rip off every person that ever bought their printers by making them dysfunctional in the presence of all but OEM cartridges and then radically overpricing those OEM cartridges to wring massive profits out of hoodwinked consumers. And not only that, they installed this bug filled technology so that it goes haywire (an estimated) 33% of the time and rejects even their own overpriced replacements forcing the NEW AND UNUSED overpriced cartridge to be tossed and replaced with another NEW overpriced cartridge. The factual truth being that any buyer of these printers will likely have FAR more than the $120 cost of the printer invested in ink before the second cycle of cartridges is used up. Sort of like Exxon offering super cheap new cars to people that get 2 MPG and then raising the price of their gas to $500 a gallon knowing all along they engineered the super cheap new cars to self destruct if off brand gas is put in them. Doesn''t take long to see that the price or handling/styling/quality characteristics of the car never figured into the equation to begin with.
Get the printer if you want....it actually does print pretty good and you might even pick one up for nothing from a current owner who hasn''t yet dropped it out of a 12 story window or backed over it with a truck after the ink ran out. There is a wealth of technology out there you can buy to circumvent the corporate Epson thieves. Supposedly there is a $30 chip reset device that overrides the reject tech and Amazon sells CIS ink tank equipment ($35-$80) which, if carefully installed, provide an endless ink supply and eliminates the problem at the source. But my question is why support these corporate scumbags and use their stuff to begin with knowing that you actually will have to go out and spend another $100+/to defeat their thieving chip reset tech? REQUEST: Any updates on NEW class action lawsuits against Epson would be helpful in this review section as well. Maybe the second or third class action lawsuit against these SOBs will be the charm.
UPDATE 2/19/2012: I contacted Epson to see what they would do about the failure for the Artisan 50 to recognize the infamous cyan (dark) cartridge. I spoke with a service rep. She ran me through everything I had already tried then promised to immediately send out another cyan cartridge to see if that would solve the problem. She was, of course, lying her ass off and I soon found out why. They had checked the warranty on my printer after I had given her the serial number, realized it was going to run out in 7 days, and never sent the cartridge. Once I tired of waiting for it and contacted them again with the reference number for the call, they told me..."Oh, we''re so sorry...your warranty has run out and we can no longer help you". Epson aren''t just low-life scumbags...they are criminals in my opinion. They have floated these absolutely worthless printers out there for the public to buy for the sole purpose of selling them enormously over-priced ink cartridges with technology designed to cause failure. Anyone who''s had the misfortune to buy one of these printers should explore joining into a class action suit against the company.
Moab Lasal Exhibition Luster 300
I''ve used the exhibition luster in other sizes, and it''s a great paper for general use and for display purposes; it''s not super expensive but gets amazing results. I prefer luster over most mattes because there is deeper contrast and richer color, which is important in my landscape photos. There is a place for matte, but I seldom need it. The lasal matte is a good one, though, if you need good color rendition.In short, the exhibition luster is my "go to" paper in any size. I''m always open to trying other things, of course, but this is my standard.
