However, inkjet printers are notorious for having pricey ink and it gets expensive if one wants to do much printing.
The FantasyBuy Bulk CIS was an alternative that I decided to try. I ran the cartridges that came with the printer out before installing this system. The printer printed fine. One thing needs to be mentioned: the 725 has a fixed ink system, which means that the ink cartridges don''t travel with the print head. This feature makes installing a CIS a good investment, because you don''t have to worry about the tubing flexing all the time. Once the CIS cartridges are installed, you don''t have to worry about the tubing rubbing and dragging causing additional wear on the mechanism.
I had a couple of concerns:
1 The clip to hold the tubing in place has a peel-off sticky backing. The plastic cover should come off to backing, to expose the sticky surface, but it doesn''t. I used some double-sided material that worked fine.
2 That the "air breathers" are a bit on the big side, and won''t seat easily into the vent holes. This was remedied by twisting the breather while gently pressing it into the hole.
3 When I first installed the CIS cartridges, they don''t seat easily and didn''t register when I applied power. After reopening the case, I was able to fully seat the cartridges, but it is a tight fit.
The instructions that came with the kit are complete and as long as you do not skip any steps, installation is fast and relatively painless. If the sticky backing to the clip had worked properly, I would have rated this kit five stars. The minor concerns were easily resolved quickly, but were enough to pull down my rating.
Performance has been excellent with no problems experienced from the ink. The system has plenty of ink that should more than pay for itself several times over while using the printer. One word of caution, though: all Epson inkjet printers are designed for moderate use, which means that if you go several weeks or longer without printing, you run the risk of having the ink dry in the head, and cleaning those things is time-consuming. At least with a CIS system, you don''t have to go through cartridges to get you printer printing without banding again.

I was hesitant when I saw this system because it actually looked like it COULD work. Well, for my Epson Artisan 810 this system has been working flawlessly for almost 2 months now. The inks is what I was really hesitant about because of the price of the system and I''m a professional photographer. These inks resist ultra violet light fading extremely well and I couldn''t tell any difference at all when I printed the exact 20mp photos with Epson ink cartridges that were OEM. Both dried in about the same amount of time and colors were bright, vivid and blacks were as black as it gets for these types of printers. Overall it''s an awesome system, well engineered, great quality and very good inks!!!! I''ve tried all those other systems and this one blows them away! Make sure and follow enclosed directions closely. The cartridge has it''s chipset and after a few messages from my system telling me to close the lid (ink hoses have to come out the cartridge area to external tank and prevent printer from closing all the way) but, a few presses on one side closed the lid enough for messages to stop and everything has worked great. Because of shipping you will have some air in the tubes but just print a few photos with those colors and once they are gone-no problems. I specifically ordered the Fantasy Buy CIS system for the Epson Artisan based upon the superior customer reviews; however, I apparently was sent a less expensive substitute. The seller, Buyer-news, replyed to my eMail noting that I''d not received what I ordered by saying "Please give it a try, the one we sent is far more better than another ink system." But I found that the contacts on the Printed Circuit Board of the Cartridge Assembly were in most cases discolored, brownish. Upon installation, the printer would not recognize that the cartridges were installed. The error message was "The cartridge is installed incorrectly. Press down until it clicks in place." It indicated that all six cartridges were not installed correctly. I verified that the cartridges were fully depressed and had clicked in place.Inspecting the contacts of the cartridge assembly with a magnifying glass, at least one or more locations for each cartridge there is not a slide mark that would have indicated a good contact. Replacing the cartridge assembly with the Epson cartridges resolved the problem. I conclude that the Printed Circuit Board on the cartridge assembly is defective.
I am very disappointed with this substitute unit.

If you are like me, buying printer ink is one of those moments in time that elicit extreme dread. Ink always runs out at the worst time and the though of spending anywhere between $50-100 just to print out a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for dinner that night seems to defeat the purpose. I print everything non-essential in draft mode in an attempt to save ink and rarely print out photos, yet the ink seems to run out faster than a carton of ice cream.My disdain for printer ink intensified lately as I read that some ink cartridges don''t calculate the ink left based on actual volume, but instead base it on a counter. This means that an "empty" cartridge may actually still have ink left. Unless I get a cartridge chip resetter, I''m forced to toss out whatever ink is left because my printer refuses to even print pure black ink if it''s out of light cyan.
As I was searching to find a deal on ink recently, I ran across this continuous ink system for about the same price as the 6 cartridges for my Epson Artisan 700. This CIS boasted 15 times the amount of ink of a standard cartridge using external tanks that look quite impressive. Now, I''ve had 2 printers in the past get destroyed by off-brand ink, so I''ve felt trapped into buying Epson brand ink out of fear. However, I''d had it this time and was willing to try it out after reading good reviews. I am seriously glad I did.
Besides the ink guzzling and a few other quirks, I''ve been pretty happy with my Artisan 700 printer, but it was not happy with me that I forced it to consume continuous ink. After unpacking the ink system and marveling at the quantity of ink before my eyes, I quickly pulled out the empty cartridges and began the install. The broken English instructions were pretty straight forward, but upon turning my printer on It gave me a non-specific error and would not function. Needless to say, I felt quite disappointed.
I pulled the cartridges out and reseated them over and over again with no luck. I wondered if maybe there was some sort of pressure issue in the lines since there were some bubbles. The kit came with a syringe to help draw ink through the lines, so i started sucking ink out the bottom of the cartridges and squirting it back into the reservoirs until all the air was gone. Still no luck. I searched for how-to videos and tried anything and everything i could think of with no luck. After a few hours of googling and fighting, I decided to put the old cartridges back in to see if it would give the same error. Sure enough it did and I realized it was my printer having problems and not the new ink.
After contemplating throwing my printer out the window, for some reason i decided to just turn it off, and then pull the plug while it was starting up in order to have a look at the print head. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary so I plugged it back in and suddenly it just started working. Why? I have no idea. I feel like it realized that a CIS meant it would be doing a lot more work in the future, and it did not want to change from it''s previously lethargic lifestyle. Pulling the plug and examining the print head just made it realize I meant business.
I''ve been using the continuous ink system now for a couple weeks. With refills around $30 for all ink colors, I no longer feel like printing a photo at home is like flushing money down the toilet. After a number of photo prints and pages that would have burdened a standard Epson ink cartage to near empty status, the tanks don''t look like they''ve budged at all. I don''t think I''ll be buying ink for a very long time.
As for quality of the ink, I don''t have any scientific data. However, I have not seen any change in color or clarity from the standard Epson inks. The fact that the ink I got on my fingers while drawing the air out via syringe didn''t come off for about a week and a half leads me to believe that prints should remain durable and last sufficiently for a home printer.
I wish i would have discovered a continuous ink system long ago. It will certainly save a lot of money over time. My installation issues seemed to be an isolated incident as I could not find anyone else online who had the same problem. I recommend this system to everyone. Find a continuous ink system that fits your printer, drop it in, and forget about buying ink for a long time.The system is great in theory and installed easilyon my NX400 series (on-line videos were very helpful). It worked great for a few days (one of my colleagues bought one baed on my immediate reaction) and I was ready to buy two more. Then all of a sudden, it wouldn''t print. I did numerous head cleaning, cartridge priming, etc., and then I get the message "Cannot recognize cartridges."
I am reasonably tolerant of problems and working with a vendor to solve them, but I am INTOLERANT OF COMPANIES THAT DO NOT RESPOND TO REPEATED REQUESTS FOR HELP. Now I have to throw out the printer and replace it with another. Consider this a warning -potentially great product but one of high risk.
