In general, printing ink is expensive. My HP Officejet 6500A printer cost just $40 more ... in all fairness, the HP6500 printers are shipped with ''starter ink packs'' :((

I live in Wasilla, Alaska and the local Walmart or larger chain stores only carry 920 cartridges and not the 920xl. Driving to Anchorage is not a option so I''m very happy with the free shipping.

I''m currently the president of a local community council so we do a lot of printing. I found that all the cartridges run out at about the same time. So this combo pack is the simplest buying option for us.
