The report says we''ve run 229,567 letter sized sheets through this printer since we started using it some 5 or 6 years ago. All of the paper that goes through it is 85 pound stuff used in mailings, and all of the printed materials are color. I''m sure I''ll jinx the reliability by saying all this, but, up to now, we''ve not had any problems other than stuff that was traced back to the refurb cartridges we use almost exclusively.
I might also mention that it has been used by about 5 different people in our company and some of us slam it around a pretty good bit. It will be in heavy use for months at a time, then will sit idle for months. And, of course, we use refurbished cartridges of who-knows-what kind of origin. In short, we use it hard much of the time.
I must say that I''d seriously consider replacing it with another 4700 rather than go to a new model, if I had to replace this one. The refurbs for sale here are cheap.
No, I don''t have any relationship to HP.

great printer, we have been wanting one for a while, great priceproduct as describedWe have three of these printers in our offices. They are reliable, dependable, and quick. The ink cartridges last a long time. The only downsize is the printer is big and heavy. Excellent for text, reports, newsletters, where multiple copies are required. We have this printer and have been impressed overall. One thing to note however--HP has purposively not allowed the user to set printer settings to greyscale in order to try to get you to use the [more expensive] color ink. So if you want to print in black and white, each time you print you have to open up the printer setup and change it to "print in greyscale". What a pain in the neck, I don''t think inconveniencing the user should be part of a business model but this appears to be the case with hp...would welcome any advice from anybody who has been able to get around this limitation, hp technical support was unable to help. other than that the printer is pretty good, doesn''t jam often.
