HP Premium Plus Photo Paper (C6950A)

HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, Matte
  • Matte-finished paper
  • Professional-quality photos
  • Extra-thick stock
  • Includes 20 sheets
  • Standard 8.5-by-11-inch size

i get great results with this paper in my PhotoSmart HP P1100. i don''t often make 8x10 prints, but I still use this paper to print multiple images (various sizes) on a single sheet. then i trim the photos. overall, the cost is cheaper for me normally than printing on 4x6 paper. and it is NOT as tedious as it may seem to trim the photos... i use a Fiskars 12-inch rotary paper trimmer and the results are professional-looking prints with little effort... and there is no ugly white border around the print. i include small-sized photos printed on this paper inside greeting cards that i send to family/friends. They make nice surprises. There is a glossy-finish version of this paper also. Search for C6831A. And for 4x6 sized paper, look for C6944A. this matte-finish paper is certainly the best for output using an HP printer. The results are stunning. Instant gratification for your investment in digital imaging. (For great greeting card paper, look for C6044A.)

I have bought several other "quality" matte photo papers that are nothing more but a sheeny paper, stopping short of glossy. Or else just a heavier paper, but not photo like at all. This HP premium PLUS photo paper provides QUALITY matte photos. Like the real thing, only immediate at your own home rather than the store. I used the HP 7550 photo printer and print pictures that are top of the line photo quality. I will never use another paper again for photos. It''s definitely worth the extra cost.

I got this photo paper with my All-In-One 2110 HP copier, scanner, and printer. This paper is the best. The photos look like professional ones. I''ve bought other matte paper claiming to be great for photos, but they are nothing more than thicker paper and the pictures don''t look like photo prints at all. I will never use anything else but this HP paper for my photos. They turn out so great, that I can frame them and hang them on a wall! I highly recommend this paper to anyone who wants quality photos!

Primera 53377 Black-dye based Ink for LX-810

Primera 53377 Black-dye based Ink for LX-810
  • Use with LX800 of LX810
  • Dye based
  • black

This product is specialized for the LX810 Label Printer from Primera. The color output in and of itself is satisfactory. The major drawbacks are a lack of recycling of used cartridges and the low yield for quality prints.

The printer itself also does not allow for edge to edge label printing.

Lexmark PhotoJet Z705 Printer

Lexmark PhotoJet Z705 Printer
  • Vivid 4,800 x 1,200 dpi resolution on photo paper, 2,400 x 1,200 on other media
  • Fast 17 ppm black, 10 ppm color document printing
  • Prints a 4-by-6 inch photo prints in about 60 seconds
  • USB interface, cable included; PC and Mac compatible
  • Optional 6-color printing; optional Ethernet

This is a compact and fast little printer. I use Windows XP Pro, and the setup was practically instantaneous; I''ve never seen setup instructions with no words, just diagrams, before, but it worked flawlessly first time.

The construction is reasonably robust -not too plasticky. The footprint is about 18" by 9" with the feed racks pulled in, but realistically you need about 18" wide by at least 10-12" deep -the front rack, which gathers the paper, can stick off the table OK. The footprint is 18" by 18" with both racks pulled out. The cartridges snapped in perfectly; everything worked fine immediately. The paper feed is not finicky at all and aligned the paper perfectly.

The only criticism I have is simply that this is an inkjet and so without special paper (and even with) it''s just not as precise as a laser. I printed out a couple of text pages: the text looked solid and black until I got up fairly close. There was just a tiny hint of fuzz on the diagonals, when I squinted, and a magnifying glass confirmed what I thought I saw -the line is a little blurry.

The colour is strong and clear, and as precise as the black.

A couple of other points to note: the installation process will make this your default printer. That may well be what you want (it wasn''t, for me), but if not then don''t forget to go back and reset the system default via Start -> Printers. And secondly, note that Amazon also sells this without the USB cable for one less dollar; this model has the cable, so get the other one if you have a cable to hand. Search for Z705 if you can''t find the other one.

This is a great inkjet printer; for the price, this is as good as you''re going to get.

I got this printer free with a really cheap computer package. I already had a pretty nice HP printer but since that was almost out of ink I figured I would just use this one for awhile. The prints this produces are almost as good as the HP (930 series by the way) but not quite there. The biggest drawback to the print process is the speed. Printing an 8.5x11 at "best" quality takes about 25 minutes.. far cry from the 10 ppm its description states(ppm = pages per minute?!... no way... I seriously doubt it could even print 10 pages containing one wallet size photo per page in draft mode in 3 or 4 minutes). But its much faster in draft mode or when using black/white obviously.

Another disappointment is the life span of the color ink cartridges. Printing most stuff like web pages and other misc. documents doesn''t deplete the ink too much but those large "best" quality prints spray some serious ink. The driver for this printer comes with a little virtual ink gauge that keeps track of your ink levels. I printed 4 8.5x11 high quality prints tonight and the gauge dropped from 3/4 to about 1/3. That was disheartening. I suppose I have printed about 20 high quality 8.5x11 prints on these cartridges so far. Ink prices for this printer seem about average which means that a replacement set is going to cost about $55 bucks or so. Seeing as how most stores selling printers always have one for about $50 bucks I don''t see why people buy new ink when its cheaper to buy the printer.

Anyway, it''s a nice little printer that''s easy to setup with nice driver software but compared to my previous HPs its way slower, uses more ink, and doesn''t have as good of prints. If it was cheaper to feed I might give it a 3 star rating but it just doesn''t deserve it.

This printer comes with the easiest-to-use photo organizing and printing software we''ve ever seen. This is the first setup that my wife is actually willing to use. That''s no small statement since we bought our digital camera three years ago -which takes excellent photos -but it''s always been too complicated before installing the Lexmark software, which is a snap.

We printed about 100 borderless 4x6 photos before the ink ran out. Definitely we''ll buy the high-capacity ink next time. With the high capacity ink I think it will come to something between 20-30 cents per photo.

At high resolution, the printer is super-slow. That''s okay for us. Overall, it''s a great purchase, but time will tell if the cost of ownership is too high due to the ink consumption.

Update 12/23/2006 (after 2 years): This thing is way too expensive to maintain; the ink costs more than double the competition -even the "generic" ink is more expensive. Time to get a new printer.

Want Lexmark PhotoJet Z705 Printer Discount?

I''ve owned two Lexmark printers, and both of them did not last two years. One had problems after 3 months of usage--would not print in black ink. The other one lasted two years, and it also stopped printing in black ink. I''ve tried installing new cartridges, and I''ve tried their ink nozzle cleaning program on numerous occasions--it doesn''t help to fix the problem. I will never voluntarily buy a Lexmark product, ever again.

Don''t buy this yes, it''s cheap, but unless you like babysitting your printer by feeding each sheet in by hand, you''re better off spending a few more bucks and getting something that works.

What''s not on the web site, and which I discovered only after buying it and opening it and some paper: while any size Compact Flash card will apparently work, this printer will accept only 32 meg Smart Media cards and smaller. Since I have (and need!) a 128 meg card for my Fuji 4700, the printer is useless to me--all I get is a card error message. It''s a pity, because the price is right & it seems like a delightful toy.

For the price, size and quality its more novelty than serious printer, but its a good sort of novelty.

Pictures are small, but are on par with any other polaroid style camera. Good for scrapbooking, or checking images off LCD for digicams etc.

I bought mine in the hope it''d work with my P800 cell phones infrared, it didn''t. Works fine with my nikon coolpix though.

The manual in mine says shoulderstrap included, however on the box it says it isn''t,and it wasn''t, not really a big deal though.

Haven''t had a chance to see how easy it is to pickup film yet, but given its compatible with the joycam it should be reasonable easy.

The interface is ok, its a little terse but once you see where they were going its perfectly acceptable.

Prints come out fast, take a little while to appear.

Counting the rebate, and the included 10-photo film pack, you can''t beat the price!

Keep in mind:

Actual picture size is approx. 2.8 x 2.1 inches (tiny)

Printing cost is around 90 cents per little photo. Typical of Polaroid.

The colors on mine are a little red-shifted

Other than that, it is a great little photo printer. Perfect for kids.

Didn''t experience any paper jams (yet).

After a day of taking digital photos, I always have to rush home and print them. Now that slight problem is being solved with instant printers! With Polaroid''s brand name and cheap price on this printer, I had to get it and try it.

And wow, I''m impressed. This package comes with everything you need to get started! Even an extra adapter and film so you can print right out of the box. The setup is easy and the instructions are made so you can stick it on the printer if you forget. What''s great is that the printer accepts BOTH CF and SM cards. Now you can give photos away to people and they will be surprised at how you printed them so fast and because the picture source is from a digital camera you can select what photos you wanted printed and how many times.

The quality of the photos are superb just like those instant Polaroids everyone used to have, this prints a smaller rectangular verison with the photo about the size of a credit card; great wallet prints! The coloring of the film however seems to be a bit more on the magenta side if you dont have long-distance flash. Other than that, the printer itself requires no batteries and has a convenient strap so you can carry it everywhere you go. The printer is shaped nicely you can hold in your hand and the weight is light enough to carry with your digital camera.

I would definitely recommend getting this product! You can''t find a better deal with the rebate offer!

The P-500IR is a stand-alone printer that outputs digital images onto P-500 Joycam instant film. It''s "stand-alone" in that it doesn''t have any direct connectivity to a computer, and it takes images from CompactFlash or SmartMedia cards (the latter requiring an included adapter). Since there is no preview screen on the unit (the thing runs on the embedded P500 film pack battery, so you only need to feed the thing film), you have to kinda guess which photo you''re about to print. I''ve been taking the somewhat roundabout route of dumping the files from my digital camera onto the hard drive, tweaking and cropping with Photoshop, and then copying select files onto a CF card, which then is inserted into the P-500IR to be printed.

Output quality is pretty good, considering that it''s instant film. The image size is pretty small, but it does create some unique "hard" artefacts of digital images. I think this printer would have been a questionable investment at its original price; however, with the discount, I suspect the folks at Polaroid are going to get their money back (and then some) on the film! The five stars are given specifically for the discounted price. This printer is a "must have" gadget at that price!

HP Laserjet Enterprise 500 Color M551DN
  • Bold color and crisp details with HP EasyColor technology
  • HP ePrint?print from virtually anywhere using your smartphone or tablet
  • Automatic two-sided printing

I bought this printer from a wholesale dealer. I''ve been using it for 3 months now.

This is M551DN model. It supports duplex print (printing on both sides)

The box in which it came is huge. A grown adult can easily fit there and play jokes or scare people. Kids will love it. lol.

Any hoo, the printer is a little heavy. If you have a bad back or are not very strong I recommend you move it with the help of some one. Make sure you put this printer in a very sturdy table or desk.

Out of the box the printer has all of it''s toners (both black and color) pre-installed and ready to go. All you have to do is remove the security tapes and you''re done preparing the hardware. Installing paper is also very easy. Everything feels robust and looks like it will last very long.

When you first turn it on, the printer goes trough a series of tests and boot sequences. It takes a couple of minutes for this. Actually, the boot up is pretty slow even after. Takes about 1.5 minutes to boot each time. Shutting down is fast though.

Installing the software was not hard. It did not detect the printer at first try.

By default, the printer was not using DHCP and had a static IP.

After a couple of minutes of messing with the LCD menu I was able to find the option and change the network settings. Not big of a deal. I was quickly able to assign a relevant IP address to it. Some one with out any networking experience might fumble a bit with this. After changing the IP, i could ping the printer and the software finally detected the printer. The remaining installation of the software was very easy. A test page was printed successfully at first try.

After it''s first print I noticed a buzzing noise coming out of my PC speakers. After doing some investigating, the culprit was the printer itself. Whenever it''s in active mode, the printer makes a buzzing noise that you can hear if you get close to the printer. This noise is introduced to your electrical grid somehow and you can hear it very noticeably in your computer speakers. Two computers in different rooms experienced this issue. Maybe a voltage regulator might help. I have to try that out.

I then printed a color photo image about half a letter page in size with various colors. The printout was good but it did not wow me. I raised the resolution and it didn''t make much difference. The color accuracy was not spot on. But this may be due to paper quality, image quality, monitor calibration or simply user printer configuration. I have only printed about a dozen pages in color so take this info with a grain of salt.

As for the real heavy usage, after three months of black/white printing, we have not a had single page get stuck or damaged when printing. No paper jams at all. Everything has been perfect in that regard. No problems and no complaints can be made by me.

Only issue was an error appeared on screen. The printer was left on and the next day it had en error message. It made no sense and I couldn''t see what it meant on the manual. I just reseted the printer and all was good again.

The printer also has a web portal you can easily access by simply typing in the printer''s IP address. Here you can change the printer''s configuration in a very user friendly web page. It''s very easy to restrict color printing here.

This model also supports HP eprint which allows you to print emails or attachments directly through your cell phone. Just send an email to the printer''s email address (you can assign it through HP eprint sign up webpage) and the information is printed.

In general, this printer is great for high capacity black/color printing. It''s fast and reliable.

I''m pretty confident it will last us very long.

The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the on/off buzzing noise it makes and introduces this to the electrical grid. Also, the slow boot is a bit annoying.

Here''s my list of pro/cons for this printer.

PROS

Solidly built and robust printer

Fast and good resolution on black/white printing

Very complete and intuitive web portal (you can change printer settings here)

Easily restricts color printing

Color printing is very good but not great on plain paper

HP ePrint really works

Reliable printing (no paper jams)

CONS

Introduces noise to electrical grid when active

A little slow to boot

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Ernie

Buy HP Laserjet Enterprise 500 Color M551DN Now

I purchased the M551dn after a lot of comparison with the HP 451dn. In the end there was no comparison. Based on OEM toner prices the difference in price between these two printers is close to the difference in toner supplied (1500 p vs 6000 p cartridges) so that by the time you have printed 6000 pages the cost of the printers+toner is nearly equal. Further, based on OEM toner prices and 25,000 pages, the 551 is $1500 less expensive to operate than the 451 about $0.06 per page cheaper. As added pluses: the 551 has 1 GB of memory vs 256 Mb, 1200x1200 resolution vs 600x600, is significantly faster, holds more paper, etc., etc. It took less than 5 minutes to have it running on my three macs. Print quality is excellent, even if you are on the default 600x600 output, n.b. you have to change the default to get 1200x1200. Quality was significantly better than the HP CP3505 I was using previously. If you are looking for a high quality color laser printer with low operating costs per page, look no further. This is a great printer for the money.

This is a great laser printer that prints everything very well. It excels in printing very crisp business documents as well as printing photos very well. If you are looking for a color laser with a lot more muscle than your standard home printer and have the budget, the HP M551 series is a great choice. Adding the duplex option is not a luxury and works extremely well with all of the paper that we have including 80# stock. Toner cartridges have good life and can be refilled if you choose bringing the cost per page down dramatically.

was interested in 7675 model that has 4 star rating over several reviews. Its scanner is 600x1200 dpi so I decided to review the 9575 with better scan capabilities and looks much more elegant that 7675. I read the two reviews on Amazon, both had 2 star ratings. Both are very well written, to the point, so I was afraid to pick this model up. However, I decided to give it a try anyway.

I have tried to address some of the points raised in the other two 2 Star reviews, hope it will help them also, or, they may be correct in their individual circumstances.

The setup was a breeze the CD accompanying the printer asks for 30 minutes set up time, I got done somewhat short of 30 mins, most of the time going into doing external stuff ("now get paper, load it in tray" etc). Once the setup was complete, all its features worked just fine. No customer support, no rollback of software of conflicts of any kind.

Here are some notes that may help the buyers or those considering to buy-

* On opening the box, in big letters, there is a sign insert CD before you connect the printer. Follow the simple instructions by the book. You may find the setup as easy as I did.

* I connected the machine wireless hooking up my 2 desktops and 1 laptop. All work fine.

* The earlier 2 star reviews found the printer flimsy. I found it as well constructed as any other printer give or take a shade here and there. The perception of "Flimsy" could arise from the scanner cover, once lifted, well, it appears "Flimsy" as the hinges swivel and appear loose.

In checking with one of the brick and mortar stores, their response was that it is designed that way so that a BOOK can be photocopied. Rigid hinges make it difficult to position a book.

* Print quality is good, ink capacity is same as 7675 model (approx 500 pages), I am ok with all this. PCMag has some reviews on both and I agree with their assessment -both have similar 3star or 4star rating.

* As far as software conflicts reported earlier go, my machines are loadedfrom productivity suites to graphics to even games. No software issues arose. This is my experience, and is not meant to refute what the other two reported.

Overall, a very satisfying machine for such a low price. I am happy with it.

The overall construction and setup are good including the wireless. The system is a bit louder than my HP K60 that this was suppose to replace. The photo quality is good but less than the quality of the canon PIXMA series. However, I didn''t attempt to fine-tune the photo optons. The biggest problem is the software will not allow you to share or use peer-to-peer networking for this system. (confirmed by tech. support) Once I connected the other two computers on my network all the advanced options were grayed-out. ie auto-duplexing and all the photo options. Therefore I sent it back.

Read Best Reviews of Lexmark X9575 Wireless Professional Multifunction Color Printer (14V1000) Here

I bought the Lexmark x9575 after returning the Epson Workforce 600. I loved the Epson but their idea of 2-sided printing is flipping the paper and putting it back in paper tray. I own my own business and need the speed and conveneince of automatic duplex printing.

The Lexmark is difficult to set up. I''m an IT guy and configured my own network, even then I had to call and spend 30 minutes with an out-sourced support department. They couldn''t figure it out. I finally realized that the WiFi on the printer will only work with WEP Key 1. My network was set to use Key 3. After making the changes on my firewall/access point it connected and began working.

If you don''t use the software to set up the printer on your PC most of the advanced options (like Print Duplex) will be greyed out. Knowing what I know, and working with PCs and Printers for a living, I configured it myself and was frustrated to see the Duplex option was greyed out. Another call to tech support. He changed my TCP/IP port to a Lexmark 9500 Series por and it all started working.

The only on-going issue is that the color is a bit skewed on the first page of the first pring job of the day. I don''t know if it''s because I''m in Alaska and the air is super dry, or if the temp. in the office is too cold, or if the free ink cartridges that shipped with the printer are junk. Anyway, the first color page of the day is always funky. If I print a "dummy page" in full color before an important document it will usually do ok. It is a waste of ink and paper, but at least I get decent looking images after that. Will see if a new color cartridge will correct the issue and update later.

It is printing, it prints in duplex, it''s connected wirelessly, it scans and copies and faxes. It''s not the best but it''s working, so I''ll keep it. But I don''t have to be happy about it. Give it a couple of years and I''ll buy a different brand.

This printer as with most of the new Lexmark printers have chipped ink cartridge so you can not use refill kits. This reason and this reason only is why this printer never got a 5 star rating. But i can say if you are computer knowledge you can find a way around the ink cartridge problem and reset it. People these days do not have the money to shell out for the way over priced of ink cartridge from the manufacture so they use refill kits to cut the price by almost 3/4.

Nice...BUT, after an individual picks up the phone and begins a conversation, the fax machine continues to ring and attempts to connect to a carrier; which of course, is not there. We called HP and while they were responsive, they could not resolve the problem because it is a inherent flaw of the machine. The machine also does not work on a shared line with an answering machine.

I found the machine somewhat difficult to set up & program in all the settings, my phone #, etc., that I needed to do; but probably no more difficult than other fax machines. And a major frustration: when you have it set to "auto", so it can switch between phone & fax, if you answer a phone call from a different phone, this keeps ringing & ringing thru-out the whole length of the phone call (???)--incredibly annoying.

But as I use it only occasionally, I just keep it unplugged until I need to use it. And for the $$, & esp. since it uses ink cartridges unstead of one of those awful film rolls like on my 5 y.o Sharp, it''s probably a pretty good buy.
