Lexmark Z22 Color Jetprinter (17F0070)

Lexmark Z22 Color Jetprinter
  • 1,200 x 1,200 dpi black and color prints
  • Prints up to 6.5 ppm in black, 3.5 ppm in color
  • PC and Mac compatible
  • Features 1-click printer driver software installation
  • Thermal ink-jet technology

Having read all the reviews on the Z22, I felt the need to add a few positive comments: My operating system is Windows ME and there was NO problem whatsoever in installing the Z22 (I also have a scanner hooked in between: the scanner, NOT the Z22 gives me an occasional problem). This light-weight printer is small enough to fit anywhere (I was pressed for space!), has never had a paper jam (bought it in Sept.2000) and prints clear and concise -both in color and in black & white on just about any paper. One reviewer comments that it is hard to get replacement cartridges: NOT SO! If you don''t want to wait for someone to ship... In addition, I have purchased a "Universal Inkjet Refill Kit" and it works like a charm! Have refilled my black cartridge about 5 times by now and the color one about 2 times. The Refill Kits are a great alternative and that way, you alwayshave ink handy if you run out of ink at 3 o''clock in the morning... I''d recommend this printer to anyone who needs a basic reliable printer for general every day use and who isn''t into any specialty printing, even though the Z22 does a good job on photos etc. as well.

I''ve had this running for just a couple of weeks, but so far I''m extremely pleased with the deal I got. Installation was absolutely brainless, and the printer is half the size of my old one--it hardly takes up any desk space at all. Printing is fairly quiet, and monochrome printing is as fast as I could possibly ever need. The color-coded ink cartridges are a nice touch--it''s impossible to get them mixed up. I''ve used several different kinds of paper and have yet to have a single paper jam. The colors look good, and dry surprisingly quickly, but the cartridge is small enough that I''m already on my second color cartridge after printing 35 brochures; in the long run, folks who use a lot of color printing on a regular basis may find that it''s cheaper to spend a few more dollars on the printer in order to use a larger, more efficient ink cartridge. Color printing is also on the slow side--mine was averaging just 2 pages per minute. In general, I''m extremely pleased with the printer and have recommended it to a few folks. For standard home printing, it''s a great deal.

When I received my Lexmark Z22 I installed and uninstalled the software several times before giving up and calling technical support. They had me do several tasks to try to determine the problem and said that it was a defective ink cartridge and they will send me a new cartridge. Upon receipt of the new cartridge, I installed it into the printer and it still didn''t work.I again called technical support who determined that the printer itself was defective. They said they would send me a new one and to my surprise, they upgraded me to a Z32 WHICH I LOVE!!! So I guess after all of the frustration I suffered and believe you me, I suffered, it was worth the wait for my Z32 and my hats off to Lexmark for customer satisfaction.

Overall, I like the printer. It set up easily, prints quickly in black and white, and not all that bad in color. I haven''t had it long enough to need new ink cartridges yet, but I think I will definately look into a do-it-yourself-refill-kit. I''ve looked around online, and the cheapest cartridge I have found is just over $26.00. The best feature so far is it lacks the CLICK_CLICK_CLANK_GRRRRR_CLICK_CLICK_CLICK of it''s HP predecessor. I would recommend purchasing this printer.

I bought this printer about a year ago, with full enthusiasm about all the printing I''ll do. But that turned out to be just a dream, since this thing prints pages at a snail''s pace. The 6.5ppm figure for black pages is a joke, if you are not printing in the draft mode, and if your page has more than 20 lines of text (forget about graphics).

Next thing to talk about is cartridges. First thing that shocked me was that the printer did not come with any black cartridge!!! I had to buy a new black cartridge ... immediately after buying this [money] printer! :-( ... Further, the cartridge didn''t last long. This is not to mention the trouble I had finding the cartridge in the first place. The cartridges 17G0050 and 17G0060 are NOT available in most local stores..

And after all that pain, my printer suddenly stopped working (both lights flashing) after about 1 year. The manual says both lights flashing means "cartridge trolley stalled", but doesn''t say what to do next. Lexmark Support didn''t help me either (that''s another sad story!).

Overall, don''t waste money on this. Buy something slightly more expensive, buy good quality. Go for HP or Canon.

Can anyone tell me if this is the "old" HP soft gloss premium paper, rather than the newer formulation (instant -dry), which is totally inferior?

I had an HP printer and when it died of old age, I had some this paper left over so I used in my new Canon printer to see how it would work. The photos turned out super great so I''ve continued to use this (I believe that when something works great why change things?) paper in my Canon printer for the past four years. Note: I''ve tried the Canon paper, but I still like the results that I get from the HP paper better, so at least for now I''m going to keep using the HP paper in my Canon. Maybe if I had a different Canon printer I wouldn''t get the same output quality, so keep this in mind when you read this.

I use it for producing good color prints with this paper. It produces good prints and thickness of the paper allows the ink to settle and I can be sure that not allot of bending will cause the ink to flake off.

The photos I printed on this paper turned out very nicely. They were sharp, colorful, and didn''t smear. Good item for the price.

Inkpress Rag, Cool Tone Double Sided, Bright White Matte Inkjet Paper Save 5% off

Inkpress Rag, Cool Tone Double Sided, Bright White Matte Inkjet Paper, 16 mil., 200gsm, 13'' x 50'' RollI bought this paper to cut up to make 13 by 23 inch prints in my Canon Pro9000 MarkII, because I couldn''t find any cut paper of this size. It works, but in front loading the printer first insert a flat paper, then slide in on top of this the cut roll paper which will be curled from the roll and pull out the flat paper.

My complaints are two: first there was a lot of dirt inside the plastic wrapping the roll and the paper itself has some marks and abrasions. second, the results tend to be on the dull side, without any real blacks and I had to work a lot in Photoshop and do lots of trial prints to get anything approaching the richness and vibrancy I get right off the bat with Canon''s own rag. It may be that there are some color profiles out there which would simplify this process but I didn''t come across them and there was no info in the box.

Next time I try this I will buy Canon''s 24" roll and cut off 13" pieces.

I changed my 2 star rating to a 3 star in recognition of the fact that I am not using this on a roll printer. The apparent carelessness in handling is inexcusable.

Bond paper works really well for the posters I have printed; hence, I like bond paper more than other papers. One advantage of the bond paper over the glossy one in our building is that the big fluctuations of temperature from the air conditioning (intense heating in winter, intense cooling in summer) tend to make posters printed on glossy paper highly curved. After entering in my building as I returned from the holiday vacations last winter, I found many of the glossy posters bent with several of them lying on the floor. The bending had created enough stress to pull out the pins from the bulletin boards! However, the posters on the bond paper were unaffected. A small disadvantage of the bond paper is that, sometimes in posters with dark backgrounds, and this can depend on your printer and the colors used to make the posters, you may see a few lines left from the printheads as they were printing the poster. Not a really serious problem, but if you are a perfectionist, you will not like it.

I certainly recommend this paper. It prints lots of posters and its price is great. However, before you buy it, make sure that your printer can take such a thick roll.

This was a much better yield than the 68 or 69 that I accidentally bought the last time. 97 was what originally came with the printer and it lasted us a year. I couldn''t tell you how many copies that is, but we are a homeschool family with a home office that uses the printer daily. I was very pleased with how long it lasted.

Epson Expression Home XP-400 Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer (C11CC07201) Save 20% off

Epson Expression Home XP-400 Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer, Copier, Scanner. Prints from Tablet/Smartphone. AirPrint Compatible
  • Small-in-One design
  • Easy wireless printing
  • Card slots, 2.5-Inch LCD and touch panel
  • Mobile device printing
  • Quiet Operation

This is one of Epson''s budget home printers, but I am surprised at how many great features it has! The list includes wireless printing, scanning, copying, as well as an SD/memory card slot and a pop-up, LCD, touch screen front control panel.

Upon unboxing, you will see that this is a small printer. The dimensions closed are 15.25" wide x 5.50" tall x 12" deep. With paper loaded in the back and the paper tray extended in the front, the dimensions are 15.25" wide x 12" tall x 17.50" deep.

Be sure and take all of the packing tape and foam off and out of the printer before using. Epson suggests having a USB printer cable (NOT included) available for printer setup, even if you will be using this printer wirelessly. I have set up several Epson wireless printers and have never needed a USB cable. Here are the steps I use for an easy, trouble-free installation.

On your computer, go to Epson dot com and under support and drivers, enter XP-400 and download the combo software driver package. Even though a CD with the drivers comes included, they are invariably outdated so get the latest ones from Epson. While you are at it, bookmark (and later print) the full User''s Guide at Epson. It contains much more information than the printed Quick Guide that is included in the box.

While it is downloading, power on your printer. It will direct you to install the ink cartridges (included). Then, on the LCD touchscreen, select wifi setup. You will need to know the name of your wireless network (SSID) and the password, if any. Once this setup is complete, it will offer to print a wifi confirmation test page, so load some paper if you wish to do this.

Now go to your computer and install the software and drivers you just downloaded. When it asks, select "this printer is already connected to my wireless network" and continue with the installation. When it finishes, including any firmware upgrades, you''re ready to print! By the way, if there are several computers in your home, you must install the combo software drivers package on EVERY computer that wishes to print to this printer.

Note: if you print the initial test pages during installation, you will notice it is excruciatingly slow. Don''t worry after installation is complete, printing, scanning and copying is much speedier.

Text is crisp and clear and color printing is vibrant. You will get the best results using premium inkjet paper or premium photo paper, but text documents are quite acceptable on plain, old copy paper. Photos on photo paper are pretty darn good! Not photo lab quality, but you could certainly frame a print for your desk and not be unhappy with the quality.

Scanning in professional mode produces excellent scans! The Epson scanning software offers many options to suit your needs and is relatively easy to figure out even without reading the user''s manual.

The SD/memory card slot on the front of the printer lets you print without even turning on your computer! You can even print a preview sheet of all the photos on the SD card from your digital camera.

A nice surprise is that this printer features Air Print, Epson Connect and Google cloud printing! Air Print means that for me, I can print from my iPhone, iPad or iPod without any additional setup! Epson connect lets you print remotely from anywhere you are. Google cloud printing lets android users print wirelessly from their phones and other devices and even lets you share your printer with others.

I''m very surprised at how many features this printer has. Because it''s a budget printer, there is no paper tray and it doesn''t have fax capabilities and it''s not as speedy as the Epson WorkForce line. But I can definitely recommend it for home use at a very affordable price.

***EPSON CONNECT OUTAGE NOTICE***

I received an email last evening stating Epson Connect will be down the evening of Aug 28, 2012 through the morning of Aug 29, 2012 for upgrades. The exact time is dependent on time zone, obviously. I include this here for anyone trying to setup their new printer and not realizing why the Epson Connect (remote printing) isn''t working. I will remove this notice after the outage has transpired.

This printer is a very basic, no frills printer, easy to setup, cheap to maintain. It''s cost is comparable to similar models, the big plus are the very inexpensive individual ink refillslow cost for continued use.

This printer is ideal for someone who needs a basic inkjet color printer, low-cost ink, does not need a photo printer nor faxing capability and scans single pages at a time (such as scanning photos).

For what the printer is and what it is marketed as, it is a 5-star printer and I have rated it as such.

This printer does NOT have a document feed tray scans are a single page at a time.

This printer is NOT an all-in-one as it does NOT include a fax.

This printer is NOT a photo-quality printer.

This printer does NOT come with a USB cable as it is not needed on most wireless networks.

If you need the above capabilities (document feed tray, faxing, etc) consider the Epson Workforce line of printersthey are also easy to setup, very reliable, and use reasonably priced consumables (ink).

Just bought this from Staples for $69.99. I was going for the Canon MX410 or MG4120; however, we bought it over these even though it was $10 more mainly because of the size (much smaller and space saving) and the multi-ink cartridges (4 Black, Yellow, Blue, and Red). The cartridges will only cost $8.99 each for the colored ones and $12.99 for the black ink. One reason I chose this printer is to minimize the cost on the ink. I will have to do some more research on buying ink at a greater discount (i.e., Office Depot store brand). The test quality of the copy of the Staples weekly advertisement done at the store was excellent.

We are going to use this printer for general document printouts at the house (i.e., will not use to print 4 x 6 pictures) and to make copies. The set-up took me about 25 mins. since I had to clean the area where the old HP printer was and took my time reading the instructions. You could probably do it in 10 mins. It took no time to set-up the printer on my wife''s MacBook Pro. I was looking forward to printing from my phone (Motorola Droid RARZ using MOTOPRINT) and it took less than 30 secs. to add the printer and print a PDF document I had previously viewed. It printed within a minute. Please note that I did not have to download any other apps to do this. I will try printing a test page away from the house (i.e., when I am at the store or work to see if it can be done). I then printed a page from Yahoo! on my wife''s iPhone and it started printing in less than 10 secs. and both pages were done printing in 15 secs. or so. I then set-up the WiFi on the printer itself by adding the password and it was really quick.

In conclusion, and although I have had the printer for less than 1 hour, I am very satisfied with my purchase and don''t regret it. I''ve always owned multiple Canon printers and my wife owned an HP. I will update my review in a month or so after more usage.

My husband would be the first to tell you I''m not a techie. But I found this printer to be painless to install and a real joy to use.

1) Before we discuss the actual device, I first want to praise the packaging of all things. Frankly, I was shocked at how small the box was when the printer came in the mail. This is a model of how printers ought to be packaged.

2) The quick installation sheet that came with the printer was easy to understand and follow. Like I said, painless. The one caveat here is that I just updated to OSX Mountain Lion, and the installer that came on the enclosed CD said it was incompatible with my operating system. I knew that the next thing to do was to go to Epson''s web site and download an updated, Mountain Lion-friendly driver, and sure enough, Epson''s website almost intuited that this was what I was looking for. I only wish, for the sake of others perhaps less experienced in this sort of thing, that Epson had taken the time to add "Please visit our website for appropriate installation software" or something to that effect to the "incompatible with your system" dialog on the original install program.

3) The LED control panel is incredible. It''s easy to read and very easy to use, even with just four arrows and an "OK" key. Really that''s all you need. The fact that I could actually key in my lower-case wireless router password is a big plus over the last wireless printer I installed and I mean BIG PLUS.

4) Oh and this printer also has an SD slot for printing photos straight off memory media, again unlike the last wireless printer I installed.

5) The printer works really well with OSX''s built-in Image Capture program, which is smart on Epson''s part as other printer manufacturers would just have tried to craft their own substitute which would not have been nearly as good. Why reinvent wheels unnecessarily?

6) My only real gripe with this device (other than the fact that I had to figure out on my own to download my installation software directly from Epson and which I don''t think is really a gripe given how recently Mountain Lion was released) is that it doesn''t have a document feeder for the copier / scanner as far as I can tell. This has the potential to be a real nuisance for anyone who needs to copy or scan more than three pages at a time. In my case, however, I can just use my other wireless printer which does have a document feeder for its copier / scanner, but I''m under no real illusions that most people have spare copiers lying around at home.

But, as I said, this is a great buy for its price point, and recommended.

Please let me know if this review was helpful.

I''ve been using the cheaper Canon PIXMA MG3120 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One (5289B019) which I bought at Walmart on sale. This one compared to the Canon, although they have the same features seemed to be the better buy from my using experience so far.

It was easy to set it up my my MacBook Pro using the wireless features. No problems at all. I am using Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 and set up was a breeze. My Canon although I''ve set it up numerous times, my computers still has issues connecting and printing to it. This one I had no problems connecting to all 3 computers, 2 Macs and 1 Windows 7. The ink is also much cheaper than the Canon. The initial ink that is sent with the computer I''m not sure how long it will last but I''ve done quite a bit of printing and it''s still going. There is 4 ink cartridges to be replaced when it''s time to replace them, but the Canon prints a lot better in my opinion when it does connect.

I still gave it 3 stars because of the stability of the product. It seems cheaply made, that if any pressure is placed on anything it will break easily so you have to be careful. The touch pad feels the same way as well. There is also no bottom tray feeder so all paper has to be top loaded. The printer quality is also not top notch but is perfect for the kids school reports etc. Picture quality isn''t that great either so you may want to continue paying to get your pictures printed somewhere else. Scanning and copying is a breeze.

Edit: I must mention that it does not have automatic duplex printing. You''ll have to do it manually.

Wish I could have given it at least 4 stars but for the price I expected something better built.

I bought these to use for placing over some of my drawings to give them special effects like using the light blue to give the impression the scene was under water. These have a shiny side and a duller side, so they were perfect for my needs.

Want Tru-Ray Sulphite Construction Paper (103026) Discount?

I began my quest for the perfect colored paper because I figured it would be easier for my very young son to color on a stiffer paper. I first tried this Tru-Ray Sulphite Construction Paper. It is actually decent paper with the white actually looking like white. The paper quality is also better and smoother than many cheaper brands of construction paper. I should mention that it is 9x12 paper and so a little larger than "standard". Definitely not a minus, but it is something to take note of.

Unfortunately, I decided that I would prefer something a little more stiff than its 76lb weight (personal decision and definitely nothing against the Tru-Ray paper) and so have since tried the Wausau Exact Index Cardstock , 110 lb, 8.5 x 11 Inches, 5 Color Pastel Assortment, 250 Sheets (48990). This Wausau 110lb was my second attempt and I have found a winner. This paper is as thick as a thin, store-bought card. I think the colors are also less bright and more rich than they seem in the Amazon image (which is a plus to me). The quality is also excellent with the paper being very smooth (even smoother than the Tru-Ray).

If you are looking for nice construction paper I recommend this Tru-Ray. If, like me, you are looking for something a little thicker then I would definitely recommend looking up the Wausau cardstock.

Well, it''s construction paper for sure. Quality seems good, colors are bright. What else is there to say? It does seem fairly smooth compared to some brands I''ve used in the past. Would probably buy again.

  • Papers with a professional look
  • paper made with 30 percent recycled post-consumer fiber

These are the two brands I see the most displayed in stores, so that''s why I made the comparison in the headline. They''re also the two top displayed brands on here, so I guess they have the market all tied-up. As far as quality is concerned, I''ll be sticking to the Southworth brand as the quality is very noticeable within a couple seconds of glancing at both carefully. The price on the Southworth brand is definitely worth the quality you''ll receive in return. I''m using it for advertising purposes, so the impression laid on the subconscious when a client first handles the marketing material is worth the extra cost. I used Wausau when money was tight and I didn''t really have a choice. It served its purpose and did it well. Now that I have a little extra, I''m going back to Southworth.

The paper is ivory which is probably the second most used color for resumes. I like the texture of the paper. Even though it is a lighter weight, the subtle texture suggests something more elegant. What I hate is the watermark. Instead of a crest, they place a recycling symbol with the word "royal" on the paper. It is visible and not always at the bottom or top of the paper. Additionally, the watermark is not small. Lest you think this is the only type of Wausau Royal Stationery with a watermark, I can tell you it is not. I have another type of Wausau Royal and it also has a gigantic, tacky watermark of a slightly different appearance. If you want something professional, don''t select this paper.

I was a bit nervous about buying this printer because there were no reviews yet on Amazon and my wife has had all kinds of software problems with an HP Photosmart printer that she bought last year (against the advice of dozens of Amazon reviewers). But after looking around a bit, I decided that the HP LJ3050 looked like the best all-in-one laser machine for the money. And I really loved my previous all-in-one, the HP LJ3100, which had served me well for 8 years.

I just received the product and installed it today, and the installation went smoothly (although it did take a while). The print quality is fine and the speed is an improvement over my old 3100. My only complaint about the print function so far is that the machine is kind of loud. The scan software doesn''t seem quite as straightforward as the software for my 3100, but it does work just fine. I probably just need to get used to it. Copying is nice and quick. I haven''t plugged the machine into a phone jack yet, so I won''t comment on the fax features.

The machine is not quite as solidly built as my old 3100, but it is actually a little better than I expected. I would have to say that, overall, I am pleased with this product so far. My only complaint is that the box does not include the USB cable needed to connect the machine to your PC. I had to make a special trip out to the store to buy one, and it cost over $20. I went back and checked the outside of the box and could not find anything that clearly said "USB cable not included", so I feel like I have a right to be angry about it.

Faxes are received as bar codes. HP knows a problem exist with the formatter board but it took 4 calls to customer support for the problem to be acknowledged. To fix this under warranty HP wants to charge $50 for a refurbished copier sent overnight. I want the copier repaired at no cost at the local repair center but HP will not send the part. The part is backordered with "no estimate ship date". I can buy the part as an end user for $193. HP does not stand behind it''s products.

I bought this with the half off rebate as a result it was very reasonable in price. I wouldn''t pay full price for it though.

Prior to owning this unit, I owned an Officejet V40 which I was quite satisfied with. The reason that I replaced it is that there are no decent drivers for current operating systems. I also had noticed that is was larger than current all-in-ones with similar functionality. However, it was easy to use and worked realiably for 5 years.

In comes the HP 3050. While it does its job fine I do have three negative comments. It is a monster in size! I have no idea why it is so large! It''s color scanning errors on the side of being too red. Finally, its menus and functions are not as intutiive as they could be.

Added this machine to my new Vista-powered notebook. Although the printer drivers will automatically install and let me print, none of the included software on HP''s installation CD will work. So beware that you will get none of the supporting software for scanning, faxing, etc. Chat session with HP was no help -they''re "working on it" with Microsoft.

The installation of this printer went very well. However, after installing the printer my computer began running EXTREMELY slow. I checked and it was using 100% of the CPU. I stopped all the processes associated with this printer and my speed returned to normal. I contacted HP and they said it is a known problem and they are working on it (that was six months ago). They still are working on it. HP''s solution is to install the print driver only (so you cannot use the scan or fax feature) until they write new software for this printer.

They should have recalled the printer since it doesn''t work properly. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRINTER!!!!

I really like this paper. High quality and comparable to other papers that are more expensive. A great economical alternative to the more expensive Epson (and other brands) of paper.

This paper is "okay," but it''s not up to snuff when compared to Epson Ultra Premium Luster. The Inkpress is a little duller. You don''t even have to compare side-by-side really to tell the difference. When I''m printing on the Inkpress, my heart always sinks a little as the image starts appearing out of my printer (Epson 3880). It''s not worth the small savings over the Epson paper. I won''t be buying it again.

  • Up to 16 prints per minute via USB or network connections.
  • Two, 250-sheet paper trays to easily handle multiple paper types and sizes.
  • 50-sheet automatic document feeder for quick duplication of large documents.
  • Full color USB scanning up to 9600 dpi for accurate image scanning.
  • SharpDesk is an innovative software solution for managing scanned documents and images.

The sharp AL series copiers are a fair bargain for the price, have good print quality but fair reliability. I have purchased three of these types, and they last 2-3 years of heavy used before dying, normally a gear strips out.

Toner cartridges are incredibly easy and cheap to refill, and the drum lasts forever, just look up the reset code for your model on the internet when it wants to be replaced.

For the cost, its a great buy, but think of the printer as a consumable if you are giving it heavy use. For home use it should last forever.

I love this copier. This is our second Sharp copier. It is a great value and the options have helped me to efficiently manage my time. The document feeder, two side copying, full color scanning feature, etc. are excellent! This has been a great addition to our small business. I highly recommend this Sharp copier.

This is one of the noisiest, most annoying printers I''ve ever had the displeasure of using. The guy next to me has one. We joke about the squirrel inside. It is always chirping and grinding. I despise the thing. Most everyone here does.

Print quality is fair. Speed is not good. The dumbest thing is the wake up/sleep button is the same as the copy button so if you are a little impatient like me you''ll end up putting it to sleep rather than getting the copy you need. If It were up to me I''d throw it out the window.

Our Dell blows this one away.

This is a fair copier, print is good, not great. Works as advertised.

However, very slow to warm up, and very slow to make copy after the copy button is pushed. Even if you just made a copy 20secs ago it will still sit there for 10 or more seconds warming up before scan and copy begins again.

Second big pev is curled paper, yuck!

these two problems are enough to drive me crazy!

I bought a Sharp-AL2040CS. Besides being advertised as a multifunction device, it also serves as a print server, a feature that makes connectivity much easier. But while the manufacturer claims that this device is a multifunction printer, copier and scanner. they should label it as a copier, maybe a printer and possible a scanner.

It can copy. Printing drivers are for windows (sorry, no Mac drivers) including Win 7, NT, 2000, etc but NO 64bit, so if you have a 64 bit OS you will NOT print, simple as that.

The web access software is so primitive that is useless. Scanning is impossible unless your are connected through its USB.

My advise, if you just want to copy, buy a simple copier; if you just want to print buy a laser printer, if you just want to scan buy a scanner; but if you want to do the three tasks with a single equipment DON''T buy this one.

We are a 10 person law firm. The Canon works as advertised. So far we are 3 months in. Had a little problem configuring the "scan to a network location," but once set, it functions as we want it to. I have not compared print speeds, since we do not use it primarily for that purpose (we use local printers mostly), but having another networked duplex-capable machine with ok speed is helpful, and the ability to scan to our file server at decent speeds for the price (the next level up in speed is really about $1700 more) is great.

Do not buy this product. The toner gave out in less than a week. An HP, previously in that position took several months to run out with the same load. The mechanics of getting a print out are convoluted. You have to manipulate the front panel if you want labels to run through properly. Scanning to the network is a joke. The manual explicitly states that if you have more than 10 computers the unit won''t be able to negotiate that. The output is slow and lacks crispness. The arrangement of the front panel and the fit and function of the unit are poor. I am very dissapointed in this unit. Bad design, poor quality, crappy functionallity.
