I have only ever owned color ink jet printers such as Epson and Brother, but I must say, for Laser printing, HP takes the cake. I do own the HP LaserJet 4 Plus (Monochrome B/W) and it has worked great for me for 6 years plus. This new machine is definitely a major improvement.

First off, it is very easy to set up and you can choose whether to have it run off of a USB port, or you can network it through your system. I personally have it connected to my Wireless D-Link router and I have 2 Windows PCs, 1 Toshiba wireless Laptop, and 2 Wireless Macs networked and ALL of them are able to pick up the HP with the provided HP software disk and all are able to print from it.

It also prints so fast and is remarkably quiet. It is a monster of a machine in size (be prepared to have a nice big space for it, both in heighth, width and length it is (WxLxH) 18.00" x 16.00" x 15.00" but remember, you need room to feed the front of it, and you need room for the wires in back). It takes 4 different cartridges (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black CMYK) so this can be costly. The cartridges run about $80 each, so it costs $320 to replace all of them, HOWEVER, they last for a whopping 2500 pages each color. It would take 5 ink cartridges of each color to last that long. And when the toner is low, you get a warning. You can even view the printer on a network from any connected computer and see EXACTLY how many pages are left for each cartridge (based on averages).

The Bad: I''ll try not and leave a bad comment about this as the final thing to say, however, it is quite lousy as a paper feeder. I may be doing something wrong, but I''ve found that you can only print one piece of paper at a time. Sometimes I print out a lot of stuff on one-side of the paper, then, when I''m done looking at it, I turn the paper over, place those in the manual feeder, then use the paper again to do more printing on the other blank side. You can''t really do that with this. And as far as printing Business Cards, or Cardstock, it is not the best. You can''t simply lay the paper on the tray and then have the printer print from it. You have to insert the paper in a special way, wait for the printer to "suck" the paper in, then once it has it, it is able to print. It did print generic Avery labels okay though.

All in all, it is great. Oh, and there''s one astounding point that I forgot to make: it prints on both sides WITHOUT having to change paper around or anything, called duplexing (sorry, I didn''t know these terms before). For example, I had a 14-page document to print out, so I just went to the ''Finishing'' tab and selected ''Print on Both Sides'' and wahlah, it printed 7 pieces of paper, two-sided absolutely flawlessly, without having to touch or insert anything. I eventually printed 200 double-sided brochures on shiny color magazine type paper, and the printing was perfect.

If you don''t need to have this printer on a network, and you don''t need duplex (double-sided) printing, get the much cheaper HP 1600 Color Laser. Otherwise, for a color laser printer under $500 to be able to be networked and duplex among other things, it is really a great deal all around, thus, it gets 4 stars. I did have to deduct one star for the bad paper feeder, but aside from that, it''s superb. Get yours now the cartridges are already in it and full-sized (not sample cartridges), so it is ready to go. You may need a Network cable, but it does come with a USB 2.0 cable just in case you don''t have one. Enjoy and thank you for reading.

I had been looking around for a color laser printer to replace my trusty old Laserjet IV. I''ve gotten really used to duplexing at work, and really wanted to have that option on any new printer I purchased.

There''s plenty of inexpensive color laser printers out there with an option for a duplexer, but often the optional duplex unit is anywhere from 75-100% of the price of the printer itself!

I previously had a MagicColor 2400W and used it for about a year it had great color and resolution, but the color cartridges came will little toner and my attempt to use a third party refill (to keep the cost down) basically destroyed it by dispersing ink everywhere in the unit.

As a replacement, I looked again and saw good reviews for the HP 2600 series, including the 4000 copy initial toner load and improved toner empty management software. I''ve been particularly impressed with the 2605''s duplex printing that uses a neat trick that kept the cost down. Other good impressions are: it''s significantly quieter than the MagicColor with its one-pass 4 color printing (no faster, but quiet); it only recalibrates when necessary, and very quietly at that; absolutely no jams with a variety of media; very good color resolution, but I wouldn''t use it for a photo printer; standby mode is very low power so I leave it on all the time, giving a relatively fast printout whenever I''m ready; and ultimately the reliability over the past 2 months and more than 1000 pages has sold me on HP getting its act together and becoming the leader in laser printers again.

For normal use (e.g. printing to normal laser printer paper) this printer works well. However, when printing labels such as address labels, CD labels or cardstock, it''s terrible. The fuser doesn''t fuse properly and the toner flakes off. I''ve even had the printing on address labels rub off during shipping causing packages to be returned. My old giant laser printer never had these problems. I am really disappointed because I bought this to produce nice labels, and it''s completely unacceptable for that.

I have had this printer for several months now and have printed a wide variety of material from plain paper, to cardstock, envelopes and labels. All work perfectly without misfeeds. The only trick is to set the paper type in Properties when printing so it will go slower for thick stock.

It''s not photo quality, but great for brochures, marketing material, etc.

It''s quiet and fast. The duplexing works amazingly well.

I recommend this printer highly.

Never saw anything like it, cold start to printing in about 5 seconds and almost instantaneously afterwards. I also bought the add on media tray and absolutely no problems with the driver interface, hardware connection, etc. in controlling the add on. Even with different sizes of paper the auto paper selection works very well going between manual, first tray (legal or envelope) and letter in the media tray. I just baught this all in one , because I needed to do some faxing, getting it out of the box and setting it up was simple, you just take it out of the box, and its ready to go. However the instructions on how to use it are in my opinion very limited,for example inputting your name or other information into it requires prior knowledge on how to do it, you must know about texting, since the instructions do not tell you you have to use the key pad like you would in texting. When you enter a fax number and you enter a wrong number it does not tell you you can back up and erase it by pushing the left side mark on the Ok ring. If you go to their website, it is not much better, Iam still fooling around with it getting to know everthing about how it works, so far it has been very simple. It works excellent, I have faxed a ton of papers, printed a whole bunch and copied a few, I have not used it for picture printing or copying yet but in printing the colors have all been very good so far, and it has worked flawlesly. It is kind of noisy but it is of no consequence to me. All in all Iam very satisfied with it.

PS.. Iam 72 years old and not very computer literate!!!

This is a perfect printer for what I was looking for. Mostly for business use but I wanted a picture print option as well.

I have owned this for 2 weeks and have nothing but good things to say about it. It was very easy to setup. I have 2 pcs and 2 laptops that all connect to this wirelessly. It prints within about 5-10 seconds when in sleep mode.

Love the multiple trays for paper vs pics. As for the photo quality, I would rate it as excellent.

I was at best buy looking at this printer and got a demonstration before I decided to buy it. The best buy employee copied a photo on the kodak 9250, then took the same photo over to an HP printer. I do not know what HP model he printed on but I do know that the price was $299.99. We then took the printed pics of both the $300 hp printer and the kodak 9250 side by side and I can tell you that the kodak 9250 won hands down. The hp printer was off color compared to the original, also the faces from the hp printer were grainy. The kodak pic was an exact copy of the original.

I would choose this printer even if the ink wasn''t cheaper, but since it is it makes it even that much better.

Very simple setup. The wireless was very easy to set up and has been working flawlessly. The print quality is outstanding. VERY pleased with this purchase. Should my opinion change with more use, I will update this review (the printer is new because it hasn''t been out very long).

After returning a faulty HP all in one printer, for the most part I was pleased with this Kodak for the first 3 weeks. Then all hell broke loose...pages were printed with heavy black lines instead of type, and it reset the right margin to half a page. Print speed is supposed to be 30 pages but It''s more like 4-5 pages a minute. Also, the paper tray doesn''t hold much paperabout 40 sheets (at most) and not the 100 sheets as specified in the manual. It scans well and the fax function works.

Tech support was terrible. The person I spoke to was not knowledgeable and insisted that the margin problem was with the Word document. She kept suggesting that I reset the document margins to make it come out right. In fact, she asked me to define what I meant by margins! I did a test print on our other printer and the output was perfect. I turned off the Kodak overnight. It seems that the next day the printer magically repaired itself and the problems are now gone. I still wish that the print speed were faster and that the tray held more paper.

Would I recommend this printer? I have mixed feelings. Its features and performance are not consistent with its specifications. I would shop around. Like most electronics today, this was manufactured in China. The tradeoff of lower prices for quality isn''t worth it. I would be willing to pay more for goods made in America. At least they are reliable and can be repaired. Years ago, made in Japan meant poor products. Today''s China is yesterday''s Japan.

We have our fingers crossed regarding its continued performance.

Purchased the Kodak 9250 to replace a Lexmark 7650 which had a broken hinge on the cover making it unusable. I found the 9250 very easy to install and easy to use. The print quality is better than the Lexmark and the ink cost about half of the Lexmark. Where the Lexmark automatic feed was mostly useless because it would misfeed or feed multiple pages at a time, the 9250 seems to work perfectly. The paper input on the lexmark would also feed multiple pages when the input feeder was low on paper. The 9250 does not have this problem.

The reasons I rated it only 4 stars are:

There is no way to fax from the computer. You have to print the fax and then feed it back into the printer.

The User Guide is not very helpful.

The printer preferences does not have any means to enhance the print quality other than draft, normal or best.

The Home Center software does not know how to handle multiple printer definitions in Windows using the same physical printer.

Technical support seems to be in India. Long waits on the phone, however online chat available.

I would recommend the printer to a friend.

I can''t rate the product on any features other than what we purchased it for printing multi-part invoices. If your objective is to fill in pre-printed forms from a software application, forget the LQ-590 the "top-of-form" setting on the printer will be overwritten by the software. Epson technical support appears to feel "top margin" and "top-of-form" are the same thing.

What this means is that if you wish to start printing at a certain spot on the form, it is nearly impossible to do so. We use a business accounting program where all of the forms are created in the application with a default top margin. Normally all that is required when a new dot-matrix printer is purchased is to re-adjust the "top-of-form" position on the printer so it prints correctly. Epson uses the "MicroAdjust" feature for this. Unfortunately, the LQ-590 resets the "top-of-form" position to it''s default .333 inch whenever a print job from a software application (even a simple one like Notepad) is received, meaning the only method available to you to adjust the top-of-form position is with the "top margin" setting in the application.

The difficulty with this is that if you adjust the top margin position for the LQ-590, other printers on the network also printing this form will no longer print correctly. Worse yet, in our case the top margins are hard coded into the application, and we cannot change them. We had no choice but to return the unit and subsequently purchased an Oki Microline 320 no problems with it. We also still have a few Epson LQ-570''s that work perfectly.

We print pin fed post cards and labels for our newspaper. The printer was easy to set up but the instruction manual was a little vague is some areas and it is not 100% supported by Windows 7 as of this date. You do not want to use the installation disk that comes with the printer. You must just plug it in then start your computer and then let windows 7 find the driver that it has and wants to use. There are some directions that tell you to go to the EPSON site and download the other features for Epson Status Monitor for windows 7 , but you will find that those do not exist on the Epson site, so don''t waste your time looking for it. The printer has operated as I expected and did the job I wanted it to do, so I am satisfied with it.

We''ve all used label makers, or at least most of us have, so I don''t feel the need to go into the basics. Instead, I want to talk about what makes this new Epson unit better (for me at least) than any other I''ve used.

First, a caveat: my label maker is a P-Touch that''s a few years old. I don''t know how much the market has matured, so some of these features may be in other machines.

The box includes the labeler, instructions, a printed symbols list, and a sample 4 meter cartridge 12mm black-on-white tape (standard cartridges are 9 meters). It requires 6 AAA batteries which are not included. It can also run off an optional AC adapter.

First and most importantly, Epson has dramatically cut down on label waste at the margins which means big savings on cost. With my Brother, there is a full 1" of waste on each end of the label (I understand on some models this can be modified, but on one end only). Many of my labels consist of 1-3 words, so they might use up .75" to 1.25". For me, that meant I was essentially using 3 times as much tape as necessary. Calculated with 1.75" text length per label (larger than my average), the Brother will make about 84 labels per 26.2'' cartridge.

The Epson, on the other hand, has .375" margins (3/8"). Using the same 1.75" of text, that will net about 142 labels per 29.5'' cartridge. Based on list prices for cartridges, this translates to 22.6 cents-per-label for the Brother vs. 13.9 cents-per-label for the Epson. NOTE: I understand some Brother cartridges are sometimes discounted but since the Epson units were not yet available at the time of this writing, it''s impossible to know how much they will be discounted in comparison. You''ll pay list at an office supply store though, and even with the big discount on *some* Brother cartridges on Amazon, it still nets out about a penny cheaper per lable on the Epson.

Other things I dig about the Epson: a wide variety of fonts, styles and sizes; a well thought-out group of symbols that suit a large number of uses; the size and weight is less than my Brother (partly due to the lesser weight of 6 AAA vs. 6 AA batteries); I prefer the way tapes are loaded; tape cartridges come in 9 meter sizes as opposed to 8 for the brother, making changing tapes necessary less frequently (especially considering the many more labels I can generate with the Epson); a really nice selection of cartridges, including clear, checkerboard, glow-in-the-dark, and iron-on (which I''ve never seen).

All in all, a far better labeler than I''ve ever used before. In fact, the only one I''d prefer would be the LW-400, which adds a two line display and backlighting (as well as expanded fonts, the ability to do barcodes and a few other goodies) that I wish the 300 had.

Still though, I''m not complaining this is a great unit with a ton of flexibility. I''d give it 4.5 stars if I could, but only because another 10 bucks gets you backlighting and a two-line display, which points out what I thought were the only flaws in a great machine. But I''ve round up to 5 based on the extreme waste savings versus other units. If you can spring for the extra 10 bucks for the LW-400, do it if you can''t, you''ll still be extremely happy with the LW-300.

I really wanted to love this label maker, but unfortunately was disappointed in the output. The LW-300 was easy enough to use and has some really great features ... best of all, it centers the print on the label without the annoyingly wasteful one-inch blank space before and after that my Brother P-Touch adds. However, the Epson labels looked like they were typed on an old typewriter with a bad ribbon. When I set the font to "bold," some characters were bold, some not so much. The letter spacing was also uneven, with some of the letters running together. I was also surprised that every time I turned the LW-300 on, I had to re-do all my settings (font size, style, etc.) because they had reverted back to the factory default. There might be a way around that glitch, but based on the so-so looking labels, I decided to return the LW-300 and go back to using my P-Touch instead.

This little label maker from Epson is Easy to set up, and easy to use. My disappointment with it is that the edges of the fonts are jagged on the labels. I would expect sharp clean edges on the letters, but the printouts look almost like the old dot matrix printers. I understand that these are just labels, but I would have expected crisper letters.

Purchased this at a fantastic price (19.99). I wanted a labeler that would do iron on labels and was tooing and froing between this and the Brother equivalent. I have a Brother P-T90 and have been very happy with it (but unfortunately it can''t do the ''iron ons''), so thought i''d give Epson a try as this LW-300 had great reviews plus i wanted to see the difference between the 2 labelers. I admit the length of the label wastage is less on the Epson, but to be honest, i''d rather have the waste than the flaw in the fonts! I am in the media world so focus a lot on fonts and the look of things, and this Epson LW-300 has blurred characters, as well as irregular spacing between characters. I''ve played around with it a lot, on various settings and can''t find one that i''m happy with. I know it''s just a labeler, not expensive, but wish i had gone with the Brother alternative and paid more. My brother P-Touch prints sharply and puts even spacing between each character. On a plus note for Epson, their labels are much easier to peel as there is a split horizontally through the tape. Forget that last line, i have just discovered that Brother now do similar peeling on their new tapes.

Out of the box, the machine was slightly bulkier than I expected; but it had a nice aero-dynamic shape and fit nicely in the palm of my hands. The LCD screen is kinda small and not backlit but still clearly visible. The plastic on the unit is of good(but not great) quality.

The rubber buttons on the unit are placed kind of close together so it might be easy to mispress an unintended button. There are many different options for styles, borders, sizes, and colors. With the middle navigation button, it is a breeze to shuffle thru the variety of font options and sizes.

The machine automatically stores/saves up to 30 different label designs. Installation of the print cartridge is quick and easy. You just pop open the back compartment and pop in the label cartridge. The unit has an A/C adaptor slot but does not come with an A/C adaptor.

There''s an included symbol list illustrating all the designs available in the machine. The actual printing is pretty quick. The results look nice and solid. The label protective paper is a little tough to peel off from the label sticker.

The label itself sticks securely to most surfaces. The only potential negative is that the machine does not come with an A/C adaptor. Overall a versatile machine that is fun and nice to play around with. You might end up spending a lot on replacement cartridges though.

Fair price, but arrived pretty beat up with black marks, wrinkling, and dented edges (see photo). After unraveling a bit and unveiling the smooth paper, it worked fine.

I got this for my credit card machines and the paper rolls were in a clean plastic bag. However the rolls were all very very dirty! I had to take off the first two layers of paper and clean the dirt off the edges before I could use them. They work ok now that they are clean. But I will not go through this again, I hope they fix this problem.

As one of the other reviewers mentioned, it''s not really a "gold" color; it''s not nearly bright enough for that. It''s more of a bronze. I''m mostly okay with the bronze--I imagine it''s limited by the fact that these are laminated tapes--but the name seems less than ideal in light of that. Other than that, the tape works fine, and the bipartite backing to expose the adhesive is much more convenient than the stuff I''ve seen on the M tapes.

I was hoping for a good contrast tape that was different from the Black on white that''s usual. This "gold on black" is different but probably doesn''t stand out as much as a "white on black" tape would as explained below. With that in mind I''d probably buy a standard black/white instead of paying the premium for this one.

The label shown on the picture is the same as the one on the actual cartridge but that''s not what''s actually inside. Gold foil on black would look really nice but the actual "gold" is more of a dull bronze color. Its good enough if you want something different, but the Brother TZ-631 1/2" Labeling Tape (26.2'', Black on Yellow) would probably be higher contrast though the colors are reversed.

Two weeks after deployment the printer ran out of toner (understandable). Bought a new Xerox brand toner cartridge ($249) and the printer says the cartridge is not a valid Xerox cartridge. So, we assume it''s a bad cartridge. Order a replacement cartridge only to get the same error again. Call Xerox and they say we have to take the printer to a repair depot 30 miles away. I ask about upgrading the warranty to an onsite warranty and they say that is possible but I have to print out a configuration page from the printer to be able to do that. I explain that I can''t print a configuration page because the printer won''t print and the guy tells me there is no other option than to take it to the repair depot. I explained to the guy that there has to be a way to upgrade the warranty without printing that page and he says there''s not. When I told him it''s just crazy that Xerox would setup a system that would require their customers to drive 30 miles away to a depot when they were willing to pay for the onsite service the "customer support" guy tells me "Well, you had the opportunity to buy the onsite warranty when you bought the printer." So I tell him "Yeah, I have the same opportunity with the HP printers I''ve been buying. But I have never needed those warranties. This is the first time I''ve tried a Xerox printer and, thanks to your helpfulness, it will be the last."

We like this machine for our small business. The copy quality is good, it''s easy to use and we especially like the fax directly to email feature. The ADF is far better for scanning and such than other machines we have used. The only reason I didn''t give 5 stars is that we haven''t had it very long (two months), and nothing is perfect. :-)

It is NOT as pictured on this page -no blue-and-whiite package as shown -no "Vivera" trademark, etc. Just a plain black-and-white blister pack. It might be okay, and it might actually be HP ink, but the packaging looks cheap and "cheesy."

If you check this third party seller''s reviews, there are a number of them that make basically the same comments as thse I''ve made here. I am very hesitant to install this product in my printer since I don''t feel confident that it is genuine HP ink.

This is very unusual (and disappointing) that Amazon would sell something that does not look even remotely like the item pictured.

I am open to reconsidering my remarks if I could be convinced that the product is "the real McCoy."

Hey, I didn''t know you could buy HP Inks in small and smaller sizes. This one was the smallest! The razor blade concept works, as HP has proven with its printers. I''ve got over 100 empty cartridges for my year-old Photosmart. But at least I felt they had 50 or more prints in them! But this tiny cartridge must pack a full 5 or 10 prints! Geez, how cheap can you get? So watch out: in the cartridge world, size matters, too!

I bought this printer because PC World rated this one of the Top 10 monochrome laser printers: (actually, the E460dn model). I also wanted the printer to have a wireless network interface, so I went with the E460dw.

The printer toner cartridge comes in a plastic frame that is wrapped in a foam layer. The installation manual that comes with the printer as well as a picture card attached to the foam layer describe that the cartridge and frame must be pulled out, and you must remove the foam layer, and then re-insert the frame and cartridge. Simple enough, right? Well, it just so happens that when I tried to pull out the cartridge, the left side was stuck. I thought I just wasn''t pulling hard enough, so I pulled harder, and the cartridge came out. BUT, I broke a small plastic hinge in the process. I went to the Lexmark Tech Support site, and behold, one of the top Knowledge Base articles says this is a known issue: [....], Knowledge Base article ENUS32262: "The Toner Cartridge (Print Unit ) Is Stuck Inside a Lexmark E260, E360, or E460 Printer". Now why didn''t Lexmark put a warning message somewhere inside the printer to warn customers that this can happen?

I called Lexmark Customer Support, and filed a customer care ticket. Wait time was less than 5 minutes, and I was greeted by a very helpful customer care rep who gladly said he would immediately send a printer replacement with a return shipping label. I received the replacement printer within a few days (it was the July 4th weekend), and shipped back the original printer.

Overall, I am very satisfied with Lexmark''s customer support.

Installing the printer driver on my Mac, on the other hand, was tricky. The E460dw has a built-in Web server that broadcasts on its own private wireless SSID. I entered my home SSID and WEP password, and clicked Submit, only to find the printer can''t be reached on my wireless network. I then realize that the set-up page also asked for the wireless channel number, whose default is Channel 11, which is different than the channel my wireless router is set up with. Fumbling through the user manual on the installation CD, I found that I had to connect to the built-in Web server by powering down the printer, attaching an Ethernet cable to the printer, and powering the printer back on. After the printer started up, it suddenly print a test page, which contained its IP address. I hit that IP address on my Mac, and behold, I connected to the printer''s Web server again, and this time, I set the wireless channel correctly. But I still can''t see the printer in my Network settings on my Mac using Leopard. I can only see the printer if I have it connected using an Ethernet cable. I paid extra for the wireless network interface, and I still need to figure out how to make it work with my Mac.

But overall, the printer is blazingly fast!

The manuals don''t explain what or where the embedded webserver is. it took many hours to figure this out. the options are on the printer lcd,hit the menu button on the printer then navigate through to the screens: settings, general settings, setup menu, netwk/ports, network1, net 1 setup... to find where to set the IP address. it was much easier with my epson which was truly setup in a snap. printer arrived Friday evening started setting up printer Saturday at 2pm. had to stop and restart at 5p.m. gave up at 6:21p.m. tried again until 10p.m. tech support closed at 6p.m. on Saturdays. why is this soooo complicated.

Printer seems solidly built, easy to use (except the install on wireless netwk part).
