OK, I''ll admit it: I''m an office supply junkie always searching for the perfect label, perfect file folder, perfect mechanical pencil under $10, etc. I jump at the opportunity to review these items, so here we are ...I''ve been using these gold foil labels to make some very nice return address labels (I don''t mail much these days, but when I do, I like to use nice labels). I''ve also used them to make labels to put in books that I loan to friends, in the hope that the book will someday find its way back home.
They feed perfectly in my HP Photosmart inkjet printer. I''ve never had a problem of any kind with hang-ups, misfeeds, jamming, etc.
The size of these is perfect for my use; sometimes, these address labels can be a tad too small. Not these. The size is generous enough that I can include my phone number on my book labels.

They adhere well to the envelope, ink from my inkjet printer transferred beautifully to each label, and of course the metallic gold color looks really great especially when sending out specialty cards or announcements that you just want to have a more sophisticated look. Good luck however if you would like to simply write on these (maybe for file folders for organization, etc.) as ball point ink don''t really work despite how hard you press and markers smear. Bought this as a replacement for an older konica-minolta home office color laser. The pc tech who delivered the printer had to perform some interesting workarounds to force the printer to initially operate-I should have been more concerned at that point. Color quality is okay, often it is quite dark versus truer to the monitor color. The highly advertised duplex function never has worked from first installation-it instead prints this huge arrow on the reverse side of paper. Of late, the wireless connectivity which was a heavily-relied upon feature from my laptop has just stopped working. Works fine. Seems a little cheap. Bill drawer smaller than my last register cramped fit. My last Royal was older but much more sturdy. Still it works fine for the price.I have owned 2 previous royal alpha cash registers, and they were dependable workhorses with many features and good accounting reports (void reports, clerk reports that show number of nosales by clerk id, etc) this is a piece of garbage compared to them. its journal only has 4000 lines, it doesn''t show voids on the journal, but it does insert a bunch of spaces into to journal, so that after only 500 transactions, my journal is full and has to be printed mid day. i bought an SD card thinking that i could just back them up to that and then print them all at the end of day, but apparently it cant print journal reports that have been saved to the SD card. the journal is pretty worthless anyway, as it doesn''t show any actual data on what might cause a miscount of cash. voids are often used by employees to skim money out of the cash drawer (voiding an item without first ringing it in, and pocketing the void) on the older alpha registers this could be seen by looking at the journal and making sure that all items that were voided were actually rung in. on this machine, that is impossible, because the only void information is printed on the end of day report and it shows a lump sum, not individualized transactions. You might think that you can trust all your employees, but I have caught managers skimming before using the journal tape. DO NOT BUY.

Never again will I have an inkjet printer of any kind.The price for this wisp of ink is atrocious. Guess that''s why they almost give away the printer. There''s a hook in that bait.

The labels themselves were of great quality, never jammed or peeled in the printer, and the way you get the labels off of the paper by folding it is ingenious and better than I''ve seen elsewhere. That being said, all I wanted was a simple way to put my return address on the labels. The issues that I had mostly revolve around the software.
1. The web based printing is simple & easy... it creates PDF''s that you download and print. I had issues getting things to line up though, so I wasted about 50% of the labels on each sheet. I wasn''t being that picky-as long as everything was on the label, and nothing was on a label from an adjacent label, I considered the label a "win"-even if not centered. Still, I lost about 50% of them.
2. I downloaded the full version of Avery software from the company-for free! I was happy with that, and expected it to be basic. But at least at the time of this review, product 5267 was not listed in the software so I couldn''t use the software.
3. Take me to the third & final option-support for Microsoft Word. I have word 2010 and figured that would be the best bet. After downloading the Avery software for Office 2010, it wouldn''t install... I use Windows 7 64 bit and Office 64 bit, so the software wasn''t compatable.
So all of that being said, I''m glad so many others have had such great success with the labels. I had hoped that the Avery Stand Alone software was going to be the key to success for me as it also supposed print alignment testing, however, the lack of support for this particular label was the final thing to run me off track.
I hope some of these "gotchas" are helpful to some of you using Windows 7 64 bit or really care about print alignment.
I gave it 3 stars because really, even with the label waste on option 1, the ones I did get that were ok enough were good enough to fill my need of return labels. If I really needed tons of labels and spent more time tweaking and wasting more sheets, there is a good chance I could achieve less waste. And I may try that again.
Update! Success! Sort of.... Word 2010 has some built in default label printing functionality and this label is one of the options. I don''t have the nice photo options and it still took some wasting of a few sheets, but I was able to get a full sheet of return address labels with no "wasted ones!"

I have been using Avery labels for many years and absolutely love them. These are nice labels and will work for most purposed. However, for my application, I need to fed one sheet multiple times, as I use labels on items that I craft. Unfortunately, with these Avery labels, after I feed them a couple times, the adhesive seems to bleed through and the label turns a bit brown. I am using a HP laserjet, but I have had this problem before with the lower end labels. The more expensive labels don''t have that problem.So, if you plan to print one sheet at a time, this should be fine. If you plan to print only a few labels at a time, look for another product.

I use these exclusively as a return label set for my and for my parents who are getting old. I print out a set every once in a while and I keep them on a clipboard. Once a year I print out a few sets of these and mail them to my parents, whose eyes and arthritis make it a bit hard to do these things anymore and it''s a tremendous help to them. They are too small for the full address.I''ve also used them to label odd things. Overall a great product.
I will say that the easy peel adhesive works grreat on paper but don''t try it on plastic. I used them to label baby bottles and these did not peel off easily from plastic. Magic on paper though.

I was looking for a printer to replace my Brother 2040N as our home networked printer. I wanted a network laser that could do automatic duplex and did a decent job printing web page graphics. The Brother that was being replaced did a poor job at printing web graphics and was starting to have trouble with its paper tray. This canon has fit the bill perfectly and it is FAST! We don''t print a lot of stuff but we really like this printer so far. The fact that the printer comes with a standard laser cartridge instead of a horrible starter cartridge was a distinct plus in my book. We got a great price on this printer which made it a perfect fit for us (less than $150). It is larger than the Brother but I was expecting that because of the built in duplexer.

I edited this review to make it even more positive. I am finished scanning all Carl Barks work he did (Donald Duck, Scrooge etc), which is about 7000 pages. I didnt even count. Plus half of that in the Dutch version after I got this scanner.It did not falter ONE single time! Incredible. What a great buy!
I have a book with Donald Duck paintings from Carl Barks which I wanted to scan. It has a size between A4 and A3 and the foldouts are exactly A3.
Looking at the prices for what I wanted Mustek was the only possibility. I live in Iceland and got it unscathed from the US.
It comes in a great carrying case box, so A+ for packing, Mustek!
And also A+ for quality, and A++++ for quality/price ratio! Why?
Indeed the scanner looks a bit thick, as if it is from the 80''s. But it is nice and strong. Not fragile.
The software design looks also not as neat as that of i.e. Canon, but that is only the ''looks. How about what it can do for you? A lot! Taje the software for recognizing text: I just open the program, scan a page of a book and on the right side I get the text without any mistakes. Brilliant! Easily to be saved as a picture, or word or other document!
This scanner does exactly the job for me and it does it nothing less thant brilliantly. For this price, you can forget any other brand. Prices elsewhere start at 900 dollars or more. And what more do you need than good image processing, good colour bit quality and high resolution? Mustek has all this!
It has 48-bit possibility, and dpi to 1200. You need a very fast computer with a lot of memory to do that! I use 400dpi on 48-bit colour and the results are already "you might as well be there" quality.
The software is easy to install and really enough intuitive. Read the instructions, open the Ulead Photo program, type in the file name you want to save it as, select dpi etc, use "acquire scanner", do a "preview", select the area you want to scan to save processing time, and there you go. All the other selections are easy.
One very good plus is also the lid comes on and off very easy with a hinge mechanism. I have a CanonLide who doesnt allow the lid to take off (at least I haven''t found a way, I don''t wanna break it) and then I cannot always put the book closely enough to the plate.
With Mustec glassplate you can always put the page such that it lies flat on the glassplate. Very important point! Great!
So some of you who want to scan a book will think: hey I have A4 size so why go for an A3? Well, you can do 2 pages at the same time, and crop and process each to a different page. This scanner is, compared to i.e. CanonLide (which is light, ok), very quick. It must have a lot of internal memory.
So I really want to recommend this scanner to all of you who want just a good quality scanner, for either A4 or A3. I would say go straight for this size, since, like me, when you find out you suddenly need to scan something bigger than A4, you can!

This product was everything I needed! As a professional illustrator and graphic designer, I not sure what else you could ask for in a large format scanner. The image quality it fantastic... why would anyone pay $2000 or more for the ability to scan at a resolution above 1600 dpi?! The human eye can only determine a quality distinction at around 240 to 300 dpi... so you would only need to scan things at a higher resolution (than 300 dpi) if you plan on enlarging the original image or object being scanned. For example, if you were to scan a 4" x 6" photograph in this scanner at maximum resolution (1600 dpi), the resulting scan would be equivalent to 21.334" x 32" at 300 dpi. The gist of my review: this scanner should suit the needs of most professionals at a fraction of the cost of other A3 scanners. Great product!I catalog all my work using Adobe Lightroom 1.3 which strangely does not support JPEG2000. Moreover, the scanner does not support regular JPEG. I work around this problem using the JPEG2000 viewer that comes with the scanner software. In that viewer I save the image as JPEG under a new name. Importantly, the filename has to be changed not just the file extension. Otherwise the viewer just creates another JPEG2000 file.
The difference between JPEG (cosine transforms) and JPEG2000 (wavelet transforms) is presumably the reason that the scanner does not work directly with CS3. CS3 and Lightroom should really support JPEG2000.
For the price of $150 this scanner is great.

I agree with the other reviewer. I have the MP500 and this is a very nice all in one scan/print/copy no fax machine. However be prepared to shell out some bucks for the PGI-5. I am going thru about 1 every 3 weeks at a cost of about 15 bucks on very lite print jobs. I always use the fast print option. There is no compatible as of yet. I went thru Office Depot where I paid $15 per but got free shipping on orders of $50 or more. I might have to bring back my Epson for my black ink print jobs. The other four cartridges are wearing very well. This is the last printer I will ever buy that doesn''t already have a compatible on the market. I use these cartridges in my Canon MP970. I''m very happy with the printer and its years of good service and certainly have no complaints about the ink. The PGI 5 cartridge is larger and lasts longer than the other black cartridge in this printer. Quality has been good.Several times I''ve used generic black cartridges bought from Databazaar. The cartridges are half the price of the Canons and results have been satisfactory, though the Canon inks are noticeably better.
I''ve also noticed that though they are the same size, the Canon cartridges do last longer than the generic types.
The ink cartridges are easy to install and easy to remove. Usually they last many weeks after the blinking warning of low ink appears on my monitor. I use them until the very end when they are totally empty.
