Invent It! Photo Calendar Kit

Invent It! Photo Calendar Kit
  • 15 sheets of 2-sided photo paper
  • Print-and-stick project paper
  • Heavyweight paper and plastic covers
  • Easy-to-use spiral binding
  • Create your own calendar

I bought three of these calendar kits in November of 2000 and gave them as Xmas presents when completed.

The kit contains heavyweight paper for the cover(s) and 15 pages with glossy paper on one side and matte on the other. The glossy side means your photos can be printed at the highest photo-quality setting of your printer, and the matte side (for the month''s grid of days) permits easy writing. That is the major draw of the kit. If there is a glossy/matte printable paper out there, I don''t know of it (a trip to Kinkos would take care of the binding). The pages are pre-cut with a hole to hang the thing from and holes for the plastic binder. Two clear plastic covers are included, as well as two sheets of sticker paper, to print stickers for placement on the finished calendar. I didn''t use them.

I have considerable, but non-professional, computer experience, and I found the calendar kit to be a good experience. I composed a calendar of our two daughters, with 12 monthly photos and a cover photo. I used 3.3 Mega-pixel digital images from my new Sony S-70 digital camera at full resolution, and included them at 8"x10" size. High quality images are a must for good results. After constructing the January graphics, I simply altered it for the other months. In total, you need 12 month grids, 12 month photos, cover photo or graphic, and rear cover graphic (if desired).

A couple of caveats. First, large photos, particularly dark ones, chew up printer ink. Be prepared to feed your printer ink cartridges. Try to use photos without a lot of dark background, or consider smaller sizes. I decided to pass up on a beautiful photo of a Halloween pumpkin that had an extensive black background. Secondly, I had some difficulty getting the paper to feed into my HP 722 smoothly. I think the printer may not be used to feeding paper with the glossy side DOWN, as is required to print on the matte side. As a result, the printing was tricky, I lost a couple of pages (you get three extra), and it took a lot of time. The large photos, as usual, take a long time to print. I don''t recommend doing more than a couple of kits in a short period. Let the relatives compete for your affections. Finally, the heavyweight covers are very nice, but one side is matte white and the other is DARK BLUE (Argh! They should change that, and make one white/white, for the front cover/January). I used one for December/back cover (the "copyright" on the blue side), but used a glossy/matte month page for the front cover/January, with a clear cover on top of it. One less screw-up possible, then.

If you need software to compose your calendar, they offer an "Invent It! Photo Calendar Plus" version that includes the software. I used my own Corel Print House program, so I can''t comment upon the "Plus" version.

The results? My mother-in-law said it was "the best present she had ever received," and my Dad said that one of the pictures of our older daughter "brought a tear to his eye." Enough said.

I purchased my first calender kit a few months back. The first kit I bought was the Photo Calender Plus with the software. And of course I had to try it right away. It is very easy to use. And the prepunched pages are great it saved me a lot of time. I really couldn''t believe how easy these calenders were to make. And the finished product is just fabulous. I have family and friends who saw my calender. And just had to have one too. I have purchased at least 35 Photo Calender Kits in just the last two months. I really want to thank Invent It this is one great kit. It is easy to use, you get enough pages so if you do make a mistake you don''t end up short, they give ideas on how to lay out your calender and sticker pages too. I plan to keep using this kit for all my calenders...

For four years we''ve been producing family calendars for Christmas gifts. The first year we let Kinko''s do it all for us. That was easy but you only get 1 photo per month with no graphics or other frills. The second year we found some matte/flat paper and printed things on the computer and let Kinko''s bind it for us. That was the worst of both worlds and finding that paper again is impossible.

Last year I found these kits and bought one with the software. The software wasn''t too helpful to me (being the control freak that I am) but the kit itself it wonderful! 15 pages for the calendar, clear plastic or blue paper covers, and a binding. It is literally the perfect set of supplies for this type of project. I used 5 kits last year and may use even more this time. After all, once you get the design down why not make a lot!

I use Calendar Creator and MS Publisher to make the calendar and photo displays. You could use their software if you want. Either way, the paper, covers, and binding in this package are the only way to make calendars with your printer.

I highly recommend this to anyone. I''ve tried the alternatives and this is the best!

I bought 6 of these last year and made them into Christmas gifts for my family. They were a BIG hit!! The kits are extremely easy to use and you get extra paper in case you goof. I am planning on buying even more this year for Christmas gifts. I used to buy photo calenders through the mail and this is a LOT easier, faster and CHEAPER than that. (Plus, the results are just as good if not better)!

Nothing is nicer than receiving a gift made especially for you. I love crafting but to my embarrassment, I am "craft disabled"!

I take snapshot photographs as a hobby and inundate my sisters and brothers in law and my chidren''s grandparents and their great grandmother with pictures of my kids regularly.

Thus purchasing this calendar kit was ideal for me!

I''m adept at using the computer for word processing, using the internet and creating and maintaining spread sheets, but haven''t done a lot yet with photographs and graphics. Thus, this was a completely new program for me to learn. The directions are clear (I''ve had problems understanding or have found some instructions so complex, I become intimidated and don''t use them, this was not the case with this package.)and it''s easy and fun to use.

I purchased a few of these calendar kits (THEY COST LESS THAN PURCHASING A PRE-PRINTED BOOKSTORE PICTURE CALENDAR, GREAT BUY!). Then I separated my favorite photos and organized them by month (photos of the kids playing in the snow for January, dressed in red [Valentine''s Day] for February, on Santa''s lap for December, etc.) Then I inserted photos of my children with the intended calendar receipient throughout the remainder of the calendar (people LOVE having pictures of themselves!).

This way, family and friends see photographs of my little ones and are reminded of us throughout the year. I ULTRA personalized all of my family''s calendars, including printing everyone''s birthdays, special family dates and anniversaries thereon (With telephone numbers!), which was REALLY appreciated by all.

Finally, for me, this was a really fun craft to do, I really enjoyed making the calendars. This kit is a perfect vehicle to be artistically creative for those of us who are "artistically impaired". The final, finished products look sleek and professionally made, which is always a plus when having made gifts for presentation to others (without embarrassing yourself!).

Everything is included: 15 sheets of heavyweight, 2 sided photo paper (one side is for the picture, the reverse for the calendar), Heavyweight paper and clear plastic covers, Print & stick project paper, Easy to use spiral binding, PLUS, you can create and add stickers for special days & events using the included print & stick project paper.

To actually make the photo calendar you just plan your calendar by selecting images for both glossy and matte coated sides of each sheet. Then check your printer manual for instructions on loading and feeding heavyweight photo paper. Then test your design by printing on a sheet of plain paper. If satisfied, set printer driver to the appropriate setting for either gloss or matte side. You then place one sheet of photo paper in the printer. They recommend printing the matte side first. Allow paper to dry completely before printing on the reverse side. If desired, create and add stickers for special days & events using the print & stick paper. Choose either heavyweight paper or clear plastic covers for your calendar. Snap on the sprial binder and you''re ready to display or present!

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION for the perfect, home-made gift that the receipient will use and keep!

OnlineLabels.com® USPS Click-N-Ship Shipping Labels for Laser & Inkjet Printers

OnlineLabels.comĀ® USPS Click-N-Ship Shipping Labels for Laser & Inkjet Printers - 2 Labels Per Sheet, White Matte - 100 Sheets
  • Margins: Top 0.375", Bottom 1.6875", Left 0.625", Right 1.125"
  • Labels Per Sheet: 2
  • Compatible With: Inkjet & Laser Printers
  • Common Uses: USPS ® Labels, Click-N-Ship Labels, Shipping Labels
  • Similar in Layout to: USPS ® Click-N-Ship Labels*

These labels are good quality but a few things could make them significantly better.

1. There''s no markings on the front or back of the page, so you have to hold them to the light and move them around to see where the label cuts are so you place them in the printer correctly. My prior labels marked the back (non-label side) clearly to show where the cuts were on the flip side.

2. The large "click-n-ship" label is cut tight to the USPS website "click-n-ship" layout, which is great if you are only printing from the USPS site. I print from there and also print USPS "click-n-ship" labels through PayPal which have a slightly different layout. Printing the PayPal USPS labels gets the important part of the label but leaves off part of the header and I end up cutting the top by hand after printing. I can''t imagine why the large label wouldn''t have been cut a little larger and then could be used by either website''s layout of the USPS "click-n-ship".

On the plus side, they print, peel and stick well.

These work PERFECTLY with USPS Click N Ship online. Labels are a bright matte white. They are thick/opaque enough to completely cover up anything beneath them, with nothing showing through. They work fine in my HP LaserJet and HP PhotoSmart printers. The result is very professional looking, and the price is excellent.

My only gripe is minor -they do not supply a template for MSWord on their website, even though they do for several other products. Seems they are trying to get you to use their subscription service. Doesn''t matter -I use them with the USPS site 99% of the time anyway.

There are 2 labels per sheet, but only one is a shipping label. The other is an "online label record". That''s not a trick -its how USPS prints by default. Its also easier to deal with if you print mostly one-off labels. The vendor has a 2-per-page version with no online record -if you buy those, I think you need to select the correct options when you print from .

(If you want eBay or PayPal labels, the same vendor has alternative products that are sized slightly differently -those sites have slightly different print specifications.)

These work great for USPS Click-N-Ship labels. Everything prints where it is supposed to be, and the small online record label peels off like it is supposed to do.

I ship a lot of club merchandise by flat rate, and use these labels like crazy. These work as well as the ones sold by USPS, for a tiny fraction of the price.

good quality, met my expectations, will re-order again, worked well with my Ebay labels. As with the post office program

So I run out of ink on New Year''s Eve, and my local office supply store let''s call it, "Thumbtacks" is of course closed for the holiday. Irritated, I decide to price the cartridges on Amazon. (This is a new printer, and this is the first time I''d needed a new cartridge.) I was blown away by the price difference. We''re talking more than $20 cheaper here, for the exact same product. At Thumbtacks it''s $32 for ONE cartridge and $57 for a 2-pack.

I''ve owned many printers, but this is my first Brother. I''m really pleased with this ink. I am an artist and often use printouts in my art, and one of the best things about this black ink is that it is very water-resistant once printed. This the only printer I''ve ever owned that has that quality. With most printers the slightest drop of water washes the ink right off the page, but this stuff stays put. (The colors do run, though.)

Thumbtacks dropped the ball on this one. (It''s New Year''s Eve. See what I did there?) My advice? Definitely buy this ink here. As an added bonus, take your empty cartridges to Thumbtacks and they''ll give you $3 in store credit for each one.

By the way, it''s not listed here, but I have a Brother MFC-5890. This is the correct ink for that model.

First I went to Staples to purchase the ink. I almost fell over when the cashier told me the price. I bought it but I didn''t open it because I know that I could find a better deal somewhere else. I found the deal here and it will be my first stop when I need ink products for my printers.

I ordered this product for my Brother printer. I did the product compatibility check before ordering and it said it would fit. (I normally use LC61 cartridges.) However, upon receiving the ink cartridges they were far too large (wide) and would not fit into my printer. I was hoping to have a more cost effective way to print, but I was completely let down and had to return to Amazon for a refund. The only positive is that Amazon offers a very easy return process and quickly returned my funds.

We refuse to buy aftermarket ink cartridges for our company printers. Thank goodness, we have never had to replace a head in one, even though we use them A LOT. We contribute that to using manufacturer cartridges. Highly recommend.

The photo shows three color ink cartidges. The title says it''s a 2-pack of black ink cartridges. The Product Description is nothing but advertising schlock and does not clear up the confusion, nor does it describe the actual product being sold here.

Hemp Heritage 24# Bond 8.5" x 11"

Hemp Heritage 24# Bond 8.5'' x 11''- 500 sheets
  • 500 sheets
  • 24# (90 gsm) text weight 25% hemp 75% post-consumer pulp
  • Natural white, European laid finish
  • Acid-free, Chlorine-free, Archival quality, 25% Hemp/ 75% Post-Consumer Fiber
  • Inkjet and Laser printer compatible

First time ordering this paper, I was tired of the non-recycled papers at all my local office supply stores so I found this cute little company. The paper comes packaged in a plain paper wrapper, not a fancy package like the picture shows (it doesn''t matter to me but I though I should mention it). If you need a pure white, smooth paper then this is not the paper for you. It''s more for letters and documents rather than pictures since it is a light "natural" color and has a subtle texture to it (like the texture that some drawing paper has). At first it ran fine through my printer but I discovered that if I leave the paper in my upright tray the paper curls and then my printer has a lot of trouble feeding it. It has trouble grabbing just one sheet and when it does grab one it enters crooked. I''ve managed to mostly fix this by just keeping my stack of paper in my scanner bed with the lid closed to keep it flat. When I print I''ll take the paper out that I need and put it in the printer and it''ll grab it just fine. I''m not sure if this problem is more of a paper flaw or a printer flaw (I have an epson small-in-one). It seems like it''s more porous than regular printer paper, it sucks the ink right up but still looks crisp.

I really like this paper, it would be great if I can find it in stock near me but if not I plan to re-order when I run out.

Quality paper. Holds up much better then typical paper. Works fine in my printer, though I don''t do a lot of printing. I carry a list in my wallet of things I need to get done and this paper stands up to being folded and unfolded, at least three times better then regular printer paper -I have a list here that''s four months old, no place left to write and it does have dogged edges and some crease splits but it''s just tenaciously holding out. I''m sitting down here to print an update and of course one of the items on my list is feedback on this purchase. I don''t do a lot of printing, so I figured I could justify the cost. Can''t print without paper and I had to buy something -glad to have an option with hemp in it. Feels like it would be great for hand written letters too. I''ve read that hemp doesn''t yellow as quickly as wood paper. I''m happy with this. Positive experience.

I would have left five star feedback on my purchase, but I could not get the feedback to post for some reason. Shipping was fast. I emailed seller on the feedback issue and did get a response, seemed very human to deal with.

Thanks all.

Be real, be sober.

  • 10 8.5-by-11-inch sheets per package
  • Works well on any cotton or cotton-blend fabric
  • Transfers through "cool peel" process
  • Countless creative application possibilities
  • A quality Burlington product

Some of the reviews that I''ve read here sound like they are for the "other" type of Printworks transfer sheets. This product is for use on white or light colored shirts. The other product is for use on dark colored shirts.

This stuff is great! It is the best of the "reverse print" transfer sheets for home use. We''ve tried several different products over the last 10 years, and this is what we now use exclusively, and have for many years.

Now, for the other stuff (the dark fabric product), there are certainly problems with it cracking, looking like having a plastic bag ironed on your shirt, etc. The Printworks product for dark colored shirts is best for very small images, and it works quite well if you keep that in mind.

However, this product works fine with full sized (8.5" x 11") images if you follow the directions provided (it always helps!). Five stars for sure, just remember that no transfer paper is ever as good as silkscreened shirts. This is great for home use.

This is a good product at a good price. Got a few tips tho. Do not expect things to work on first try prefectly be prepared to waste a t shirt or test the paper on a pillow case. Cut close to the edge not right on or else it doesn''t adhear properly causing it to wash off. Yellow oust side means you burnt it. All in all good product to try.

Burlington Iron-on transfers are exactly what you can expect from transfer papaer that is possibly the most inexpensive for its quantity.

The Goods:

-Easy to handle(good to go after one practice shirt)

-Will last a fair amount of time, if not washed too ofeten

-Color comparable to all other transfers out there

-Does not look as home made as some other tranfers can be

The Bads:

-If you wear your newly created shirt more 3 times or more a week, do not expect it to last more than a month without it being a crackly mess.

-Be cautious of over ironing the transfer image to shirt, will easily burn if you follow the directions.

-Cheap transfer material not as durable as some other higher priced transfers.

This paper is great for projects, simple to use, and inspiring. My problem with this product is that the transfer cracks after a few washings. I wouldn''t recommend it for t-shirts or any fabric that gets thrown in the washer/dryer frequently.

This basically glues a plastic sheet to your shirt with your design printed on the plastic. Wearing it feels like you might imagine it would, and it doesn''t survive washing very well, even if you wash it by hand very gently. The directions tell you to iron it for much longer than it can handle. If you do as you''re told, you''ll burn it.
