I haven''t done alot of printing even tho I bought this back at the beginning of the year. Recently bought an Olympus 3020 and printed some "1st day of school" pictures. I use Epson photo quality inkjet paper to do a first print test (720 dpi), then print final on Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper (1440 dpi). If I put the "test" pics in a frame, no one would know that they were not printed at a lab. The glossy''s (8x10s and 5x7s) fool everyone I show if I didn''t tell them it was on my printer, they''d never know (of course the camera helps too). Haven''t seen a need to use the 2880 dpt yet.

Mine came with software Film Factory which is semi-easy to learn but easy to use after that. Even tho a full sheet of paper could hold 2 5x7s or 4 4x6s, the s/w won''t let me lay the print out that way. I get 2 5x7s by printing one at very top, then turn paper upside down and print again (after 1st print is dry).

If it''s not used often, the heads can become clogged. Does go through ink, so I always have replacement ready (color mostly have yet to replace the BW). I only use for photo printing. Have another for text so cannot say how it does there.

Using the USB port and can''t really say I''ve ever timed a print. I usually go and do something else while I wait I had a print freeze after 2/3 done when I went to do something else on the PC at the same time, so now I just leave it alone (system is W2k, AMD XP 1800, 512 DDR memory so the system is not anemic).

Had a few problems trying to get the USB driver set up and recognizing the printer, but after a few attempts at loading the drivers it all came together. Even w/these few problems, it deserves a 5.

I have always been partial to Canon and Lexmark printers, but the Epson Stylus 820s blew my mind away. Never had i had the ease of setting up a printer in seconds (i am not kidding...i really mean less than a minute). This printer is good but slow. Good things come to those who wait though. You can hardly see the dots compared to HP, I won''t even dare compare lexmark''s ... output. HPs I''ve used also has banding which is very noticeable. I always get a "WOW" from people on glossy paper from non Epson photo users. 6 color inks do make a difference because even Epson users with 4 color printers notice the difference. ... The epson 820 prints only last for 1 year at best if displayed and not laminated. If I hang them on a door that is exposed to florescent light 24x7 it fades fast. When I keep them in one of those folders for pictures in good tempurature and conditions they look just as good, even 3 years from now.

Having a Epson Stylus Color, Photo 780 and now the Photo 820, I can tell you that this is the slowest of them all. (using the same G4 Titanium Powerbook. Printing out photo quality may make you wonder if it is even on...don''t cancel the job thinking it crashed the first time you use it like I did. That said, the print quality is respectable and the price is great (free if you buy a system). See Consumer Reports latest issue...up to 12 minutes for a photo quality sheet!

Epson thought their unique print head design would set their products apart, allowing superior quality prints. Instead, it''s their printers'' Achilles heel: because the print heads are not part of the ink cartridge, you can''t just switch cartridges to fix a messed-up print head, and there''s no way to get at the heads to clean them manually. With Epson printers, when your heads are badly clogged, there''s not much you can do except bring it to a repair shop. Maybe not even that.

This printer has had chronic problems with clogging, constantly showing stripes of missing color. The heads have needed to be cleaned almost every time I''ve printed anything, and I''ve spent at least 1/3 of each (expensive) ink cartridge just cleaning the heads, that process uses amazing amounts of ink. This week, the heads seem to be permanently gunked shut. I hadn''t printed anything in color in about 5 weeks, and each of the five colors is now either stripey or completely blocked, no matter how many times I run the "clean" routine.

Another stupid design choice: when just one of the 5 colors of ink runs out, you have to replace ALL FIVE. That''s ridiculous. Unless you''re Epson and want to make a killing on ink sales, that is.

Save yourself a lot of trouble, and avoid poorly designed printers -like this one.

I run a photobooth company, and we bought this printer to replace a Canon Selphy CP780. The Canon is also dye sub, prints in 1 minute, and has great quality but it only holds 18 sheets at a time. That means a lot of paper & ink changing during an event while customers wait.

So we bought this printer for the 60 sheet capacity. During testing it worked ok, but not great. The paper feed would not work reliably if the paper tray was full, so we''d have to take some out each time. There were hairline scratches going the length of the photos, barely visible but annoying. And the prints took 1min 10sec, a little slower but still passable. Overall not great quality, but it seemed like it still might be adequate for our use.

During the first live event, it worked well for the first 15-30 minutes. Then the printer driver started showing a popup before every print that said something along the lines of "Please wait, printer driver is processing" and had a progress bar. During this time the CPU was idle (and so was the printer itself), so it was not truly processing anything I believe this was a cooldown period. The manual stated that the if the printer overheated, it would pause long enough to cool down.

So the 1min 10sec print time become 3-5 minutes per print! Instead of a small wait for prints, we had customers waiting from 30 min up to an hour. At the end of the event, we were preventing people from leaving when they wanted.

On the positive side, we did contact support and they offered to ship it back to them at their cost to try to repair this. But with all the things wrong with this printer (paper feed, scratches, long print time) it leads me to believe these are systemic problems and not just related to my specific printer.

I was able to return this printer, and I''m glad I did. I was considering saving it as a backup printer, but even for that it''s not useful. I''m keeping my CP780 as the backup printer, and we bought a Sony UP-CR10L to replace this. It''s not in the same league at all (~$1000), but it is fast (20 sec prints), has good quality, holds 200 prints on a roll (no tear-off tabs), and the prints are cheaper.

Bottom line: Not recommended definitely not for heavy usage, and really not even for light usage. For light use, I''d put up with the Canon CP780. For heavy usage, I''d recommend the UP-CR10L or the UPXC1, or a similar heavy-duty dye-sub printer. For medium usage (>50 sheet capcity,

Like so many others, my HP printer suffered from the chronic paper feed problems. The tech support people gave the standard suggestions (use a bigger/smaller stack of paper, do a power cycle, clean the roller). Nothing worked (surprise!). But here''s something that DOES work:

1) Clean the roller as instructed (remove the back panel, clean the roller with an alcohol swab)

2) Spray the end of a Q-tip with hairspray

3) Dab/wipe the Q-tip gently across the surface of the roller, taking extreme care to not get hairspray on anything else.

4) Allow at least 15 minutes to dry

...and VOILA! Problem solved. Doesn''t leave any residue on the paper (and even if it did, it would be on the back of the paper no biggie). And best of all, no hassle of returning the printer for servicing, dealing with shipping charges, warranty renewals, etc.

And I must say, apart from the paper feed problem (which isn''t a problem anymore), this all-in-one printer is totally freakin'' sweet!

I bought this printer on a whim after having been a satisfied Canon user for a decade. I learned my lesson and will never buy another HP product. This printer worked well for about one month of light use. After this, it began to have problems picking up paper. I have used only HP Bright Inkjet paper, and the paper is crisp and fresh, so it''s not a problem with humidity or curled paper. It''s reached a point where every sheet of paper has to be individually coaxed into the feed mechanism. Even then, it jams about half the time.

It''s hard to believe that HP did not discover this problem during product development and testing. Yet they have put this piece of junk on the market. I''m having to write mine off as a loss because it''s now too late to return it to the store, and HP''s only solution is to replace it with the exact same printer with the same problem. I''m hoping someone files a class action suit against HP for the junk they put on the market.

I''ll add my voice to the paper feed issue. After about a month it has become intollerable. Either it doesn''t feed the paper or it jambs. Everytime you print you have to get up to fix something. Being a network printer, it would be nice if you could print from your computer and go get the printout but it isn''t that easy. It isn''t a paper thing either, I use very good paper (although I don''t think I should have to be wed to HP brand everything to use this.) Stay away from this one.

I had a problem installing the printer. The help from india did not help at all. The person spent 45 minutes to an hour on the phone with me but clearly could do nothing but read from some manual. I ended up not using their software. You can set up a permanent IP address on this printer and use "add printer" in windows to print to it (ironically, choose "local port", then set up an IP port with the address you chose for the printer.)

The software is large and unnecessary, however I did have to install it and uninstall it to get the scanner to work.

If not for the paper feed issue, this is a great printer/scanner/copier.

Overall this machine does the job and seems reasonably priced. I have no problems with scanning and copying. When it comes to printing though, I think there have got to be better options available out there. I agree fully with those who''ve said they were frustrated with the poor paper handling. From my experience, I''d say this machine mishandles paper about 2-5% of the time. I like to print documents on both sides however, and the rate seems to go up considerably when you reload printed paper in this fashion. This is not to mention the compounded error involved when you load a stack of copies to print the back and all pages are thrown off after the beast sucks up 2-3 sheets instead of one. You won''t likely save any trees or money on paper with this machine. Another complaint I have is that the driver software is huge, with even the express install at about 300 MB, and the imaging programs are really nothing special. The print cartridges (HP95/98) are too small and too expensive...I generally have to replace the black and white after about 250 pages of plain text typing. The LCD screen looks impressive, however it is nothing more than a useless decoration in my opinion. I''ve owned a few HP printers in the past, and I''ve stuck with them because they''ve been durable and done a decent job. The performance of this model is not much worse than those I''ve used before, but its shortcomings are pretty annoying. I will look carefully at what other manufacturers have to offer before buying my next printer, and I recommend you do the same.

Have owned this printer for several months now, purchased the 2575xi version at Costco for about $180. We use it with a 5 year old Mac running OS 10.4 via the ethernet connection. No problems with install or any of the features.

This printer has changed the way we use our digital photos. Previously we connected the cameras via USB and imported the photos to the computer via iPhoto. This printer is equipped with multiple card readers, so now we just pop the card in and transfer/import through the printer. We are also able to view the photos on the card via the printer LCD and/or print any pictures immediately.

We have used all of the printer/scan/copier functions extensively as my wife is responsible for putting together our daughters elementary school yearbook. No problems whatsoever and not a single paper jam. The included cartridges have lasted through about 400 pages of mixed color/BW printouts, with ink still in reserve. Our previous Epson printer would get about 200 pages and a cleaning cycle was required if not used once a week. We have yet to align or clean the HP.

The software is easy to install and use and most functions can be done either via the Mac or directly from the printer interface. Because the printer is connected via ethernet, there are several nice features that one can use to enhance and share your digital photo experience. You may set up Instant Share which allows you to print photos remotely to a friend or family members'' Photosmart printer. You can upload photos to an on-line professional photo studio and you can even order the correct cartridges via the Internet (web site will ask if it can query your printer).

The only down-side I have experienced is the limited availability of cartridges. I do not know if this is because the printer is new or because of popularity. Replacement cartridges on-line run $20-$25 each. The printer uses a black cartridge (#98) and a 3-color cartridge (#95) standard. Optional photo cartridges replace the 98 with a gray cartridge (100) and the 98 with a photo 3-color photo cartridge (99). It is my understanding that they are interchangeable in that you can take them in and out as printing needs arise although I have not bought the optional cartridges.

Although we generally use an on-line pro photo service for scrap-booking and the final yearbook photos, the 2575xi is capable of nearly matching the print quality. We use Costco printing services as it is generally cheaper than the paper/ink of any consumer photo printer.

It is worth noting that there seem to be several variations of the 2575 series printer, Bestbuy sells one version and the Costco version is 2575xi. The specs are all the same and I am unsure if the difference is the due to the retailer or included software.

I soon plan to upgrade our PC to Windows XP and hope the printer works 1/2 as well as it does with the old Mac.... another classic example of getting what you pay for! A couple hundred more dollars upfront saves you $ in the long run with less hassle, no pop-ups or spyware and they run the latest software for years and years.

I replaced a defective HP printer for my home office business with this C320dn. Other than not being able to find toner for it locally, I have been very pleased. I use it for colored business documents as well as some photo printing on standard paper. The print quality and reliability of this printer are consistently good. I have probably run 15,000 pages of paper through it so far and there was only one ream of paper where I had feed problems. I would definitely purchase this product again, although next time I will most likely upgrade to a Ricoh machine that runs larger paper sizes.

I ordered this printer because my other color laser printer had broken. Of course, technology moves so swiftly that there were no spare parts or people willing to repair it. So I abandoned that printer which had become a large paperweight and went online researching printers.

This printer came with rave reviews and was reasonably priced for my small business needs. I am fairly technologically savvy. So, when I receive new hardware I never have problems setting it up. Further, I have Mac products which usually speak well with peripherals. that was not the case here. After three days of attempting various fixes suggested by the online guides, I was finally able to contact tech support. It was extremely frustrating as they told me without having purchased a service contract they could not talk to me--even to merely install the device! Rather than go through a litany of the miserably poor support they offer and the rudeness of their phone staff, suffice it to say I finally got to someone who was in fact helpful ...but it took three days! Ultimately, after I got it working, the print quality was marginal for color prints. So, it was determined that the product was defective. After my terrible experience with the support to their customers I did not choose to replace the defective product with another printer from Ricoh.

When searching for a color laser our main concern and criteria was finding one that had full support for PCL 5. This is increasingly difficult to find. We needed it to have FULL support for PCL5 so that it would be compatible with some older universe/unix programs that we already had and didn''t want to have to re-write. We had previously tried a different HP laserjet (1022n) which said it had PCL 5e support, and after testing it we found that it didn''t support all of the commands and did not work with our existing software. So we had our fingers crossed when we ordered the CP3505 and we have not been disappointed. This printer worked perfectly and seems to work with all of the PCL 5 commands that we have tried so far. We are pleased with its performance printing from Windows as well, and have had no problems with it on our network print server.

Canon PIXMA MP499 Wireless All-in-One Printer

I just got this printer as a sale item for a little over $30 and am fairly happy with it so far. Pretty easy to set up with the provided software, ink is easier to install than in my old HP Photosmart printer. I was able to get it connected to several Android devices fairly easily with free or previously purchased apps which was amazing, and Conon has an app in the Android Play Store which allows you to work the scanner and print photos directly from your Android device which was cool. My only real complaint is the fact that it seems to not stay "online" for very long so I can''t just out of the blue decide I want to print from my computer because it seems to go "off line" after a certain duration and forces you to reset the printer (turn off and turn back on) before using it. Not sure if it''s just something I''m doing wrong but this is my experience with it. The prints are great and give you a lot of printing options.

A small wireless printer at good price. It can print, scan, copy without any problem. I love my new printer.

A friend told me the PSC 1311 was the less expensive version of the PSC 1315 since the 1311 is for sale on the internet. I bought the 1311 and I love it. UPDATE: If I could change my original 3-star rating to 1 star, I would! There is no need to put up with such frustration after all, even at the low-tier price range!

It''s one year later, and I finally gave up putting up with this piece of junk, and replaced it with a Canon Pixma MP150 (which was about $20 less than I paid for this HP). With the HP, I got "jams" reported after EVERY page printed. The "fix" I''d thought I''d found (in my original review) stopped working. No good especially since I usually have to print things in duplicate--and I have more things to print now (still not lots but enough to get sick of this nonsense)! Even worse, it said it even though there was no real jam. But I''d have to reset it after every sheet. Intolerable! And, sometimes it''d come up as having an error when I first turned it on and hadn''t even tried to print anything yet that day. Argh argh argh!

Cheap does *not* have to mean shoddy, and the HP is just plain shoddy. The Canon I just installed breezed through a multiple-sheet print test with no problems. Installation was a breeze, too. The only thing that says "cheap" about the Canon, other than the price, is it''s a little less than solid sounding, but IT WORKS RIGHT, unlike the HP. I just wish I''d picked a Canon to begin with.

Before I get into specifics, I''ll say that the belief that cheap all-in-one devices are mediocre at everything, seems to be correct! But, for the great [ie, CHEAP!] price of this machine, it''s good enough. I rarely need to print, copy or scan, so buying individual devices or even spending much for an all-in-one just wasn''t justified in my case.

The machine''s working fine now, but HP doesn''t really seem to have its act together. First off, it was supposed to come with an installation CD. There wasn''t any. Even whoever wrote the instructions didn''t seem to be sure on whether it comes with one one picture of the accessories shows CDs, but the picture of how they''re packed shows NO CD! So I guess the packing team got confused.

Then, when I went to HP''s site to download the software (rather than wait for them to send out a disk), it says that the download doesn''t have all the software on "the CD." But, the download actually *did* have all that was claimed to be on the disk.

So finally I got to turn it on and set it up. It set up easily enough. But, I quickly found annoyance. Most importantly, every time I tried to print more than one page it would report that the cartridges had "stalled," stop printing, and dump the rest of the print job. I discerned that this was due to it holding onto the first page "so the ink could dry," which would be cool but when it did that, its own jam-detection software was thinking that the page the one it, itself was holding onto was a paper jam!

Also it would print a new alignment page every time I turned it on. What a waste...certainly HP doesn''t think people will leave their printers on 24/7??

I figured that these irritations had to be due to poor coding of the driver software, rather than mechanical errors. YEP! Sure enough, the next day HP''s auto-update detected a couple of available patches. Usually it''s necessary to download a patch for things like this when the original came off a CD, but it seems that actually fixing the one live on the site isn''t the HP Way! That has to be patched too, rather than them doing it themselves for the live downloads and putting out a single fully-functional version!

Immediately after installing the patch, I tested printing a 2-page document. No more "stalling!" Whee! Now it counts as a functional printer!

Unfortunately, it STILL starts printing an "alignment page" every time I turn it on. That''s an utterly ridiculous, ink and paper-wasting behavior and I''ll be looking to find out how to stop it. For now I''ll turn it on with my other hand hovering over the "cancel" button, but I''m hoping that there is some way to turn that idiocy off.

As for the other functions: I haven''t tried the copier function yet. But, I have used the scanner for some photos. These photos are in a catalog. It makes a grainy scan. Fortunately, I have Photoshop, so I am able to clean up the images well. Their own image-editing software is a basic-type program. Photoshop works very well and allows a lot more things to be done.

Strangely, it will auto-set to a resolution of 200 dpi and then complain when it''s turned up. And, it wants to put "sharpening" on everything (ever see those lines in a .jpg? That''s where they come from!) So I ditched that, which also caused an "alert" box. I found out how to stop these irritating "alerts" from appearing (If I didn''t want more res and no sharpening, I wouldn''t have clicked for it, would I have!!?)

While that did improve things, I still had to "blur" out the dots and lines in Photoshop. THEN I shrank the picture (dimensions and filesize) back down, and it looks almost as good as the catalog''s original. But if I had let the scanner put it in as a small picture to begin with, it would have been lousy. Better to make it do a BIG picture and shrink it back yourself after retouching it.

I am presuming that the scanner will do better with text documents that don''t have much detail to begin with.

A couple of other things about this machine are that it''s loud, and does a whole lot of moving the print carriage for no apparent reason on startup. When using the scanner, the parts related to that start moving, apparently for nothing, when the lid is opened, then about 10 minutes after I''m done scanning they''ll move some more. And it all sounds clunky to me. I''m not too confident in how long this machine''ll last.

When we bought this printer we noticed that it had a really low price, so we thought it might not work all that well. We hooked it up (it took about 1/2 of an hour) and it worked really well, for about a month. Then it started taking 3 and 4 peices of paper every time we printed 1 page. Solution: we would put alot of paper in it and hold down every page except 1. Then, it was stuck with about 20 documents in queue that wouldn''t cancel. Solution: Go to www.hp.com/support and type in hp psc 1311. It then tells you how to cancel the documents. After all of this, the print cartrige stalled. Im on hp.com/support trying to figure out whats wrong with it as we speak. Overall, this printer is for people that can figure out how to fix it.

Come on people, this baby costs 80 bucks, and many people seem to be upset that it doesn''t have a bread buttering control or that it works poorly when you weigh down the paper feeder with a 20-pound river rock to stop multiple page feeds. I could go on about how things were "back in the day", but suffiice it to say that we''ve forgotten how good things are.

I''ve owned many different printers, and many HP printers from the top of the line to the bargain basement. I have always come away feeling that HP consistently provided the most value for the dollar and this printer is no exception. I''ve used it to print (a lot), scanned and edited both text and photos, and copied a number of documents. In every case the unit did everything they said it would, and I continue to watch it work while thinking "only 80 bucks, only 80 bucks...

Unfortunately I must have received the Boring Model, as I have had none of the crazy adventures related in other reviews. Oh well.

After months of paper jams and stalled print cartridges, my printer doesn''t respond at all anymore when I send it documents to print. What a waste of money. Buy a Lexmark.
