With amazon delivering it to me I am able to keep tray 2 in all my printers loaded with 11x17 paper for tabloid jobs. This works equally well in my BIJ 2600 and CLP 5550 printers. Standardizing on tray 2 as 11x17 and tray 1 as 8.5x11 helps with the new (7-2010) win7 printer driver.

Everyone seems happy when the printers have both sizes (legal has fallen out of favor due to filing difficulties of those extra 3 inches folding an 11x17 down the middle allows it to be filed and bound along with 8.5x11, just as a fold out). On the rare occasions we print on legal it is cut to size by the designjet cutter from roll paper stock, of course law offices would prefer the legal size but design firms seem to prefer tabloid sheets. For those professions I believe HP makes a legal size as well.

This is a no-jam, excellent ink, semi large format paper without having to go to roll feed. The in between size (13x19) is seldom used due to high costs and lack of filing systems for retention.

My personal favorite use is printing complex websites that overlap onto 2 pages from my display on 11x17 pages landscape it looks on the paper 1:1 with my display.

HP C4153A Color Drum, HP C4153A - Original

HP C4153A Color Drum, HP C4153A - OriginalIs a 4154a picture; you call it a 4153a

Which is it? One drum has a 3" roller. The other an 8" roller.

The drum kit, new filters and toner waste tray all take about five minutes to install thanks to the clear graphical instructions supplied by HP. It is much less trouble than you think. Expensive, but the output quality is worth it.

My "real" rating would probably be 4.5 stars out of 5, but since I can''t do that, I''ll round up.

When my old printer died, I decided to look into an all-in-one since my scanner was getting up there in age and I had begun to notice how convenient having a fax machine in the house would be. I also wanted built-in two-sided printing (since I''d been spoiled with that feature on my last printer), and good print quality (especially photos). I also thought it would be nice to have each color in separate ink tanks so I wouldn''t have to replace anything more than what I had used. With this printer I got everything I wanted except for the separate ink tanks.

I''ve been very impressed with the scan quality and copy quality. I have sent and received faxes with absolutely no problems. I''ve printed pages of great looking sharp text and impressive looking photos just using the default black and tri-color cartridges (i.e., without putting in the optional photo cartridge). The color LCD and the menu system it uses is great and easy to navigate.

If you''re trying to decide between this printer and the 7410, I did some research and emailed HP to confirm what exactly the differences are. The only differences are:

1) The 7410 comes with the extra 250-sheet tray that attaches to the bottom of the printer and adds an extra inch or two to the total height of the printer.

2) On the machine itself, the 7410 has a ''collate'' button and an option to collate within the ''copy'' menu. HP also calls this ''reverse order printing'' and they say it can be activated on the 7310 through the driver (although I have not done it). The same button on the 7310 is ''Lighter/Darker'' and the ''collate'' option is not in the copy menu.

3) While both printers have built in networking, only the 7410 has built-in wireless networking. This was not an issue for me since I already have a wireless router and I just ran an ethernet cable from my router to the printer. Now any computer that connects to the wireless router is able to print to the printer without having to go through another computer. The printer is basically its own device on the network and relies on nothing other than its network connection (i.e., no usb cables connected). If I had the 7410, the only difference is that I wouldn''t have the ethernet cable coming from the router, but the functionality is the same.

I had no problems actually installing the software on any of our computers and have no problems using or accessing the printer from any computer on the network ("accessing" includes accessing any flash card in the media slots). There was a little complication with the software upsetting XP''s Data Execution Prevention (DEP), but there is an update on HP''s website that took care of that pretty easily.

My complaints:

If you don''t pull out the tray extender, anything you print will fall on the floor. This is kind of annoying if I''m printing from my laptop downstairs, go up to retrieve my print job, and find it all over the floor. Simple solution: If you just leave it pulled out (but not ''flipped'' all the way out) it will still catch pretty much everything without having to deal with the thing jutting too far into space.

As I mentioned before, I wish HP''s ink cartridge system was different so that each ink color had its own cartridge that could be replaced as the individual color ran out. On a related note, I wish I could leave the photo cartridge in without having to swap out the black cartridge.

This is a great printer that is the first all-in-one that I have used that could perform all of its many functions really well. It is a little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. I have never regretted buying this printer.

We can all hope that software updates will eventually catch up because this is really a nice piece of hardware. The software when working is actually pretty solid, the problem of getting it to work of course exists. Plus it simply is way too bloated for what it does.

Below are some of the headaches I experienced getting to a workable environment with mulitple 2000/XP PCs and a network connection...

No "Custom" install option. Not only is the full install huge but there is no ability to pick and choose the various sub components. (e.g. I don''t need OCR, but if I want to use Image Zone to print photos I get it)

Installer is slow and the multiple progress bars really don''t illustrate "progress". Added annoyance of a bitrate field. Do I really care how fast my CD ROM drive is reading? Rather than adding this excess to the installer I would have appreciated better status from the actual software.

Uninstaller doesn''t even seem to know where it put its files. Rather than quickly deleting files and unregistering components, the installer does a full hard drive scan looking for files. This can take a really long time if you have a large harddrive with a lot of directories.

The printer has a nice little web interface that allows you to do some basic configuration options. It even allows you to do some scanning to PDF via your browser. This interface could clearly be enhanced to provide resolution/color options as well as handle multi page scanning. It would also be nice to be able to browse the memory card files using this interface this would allow several of the features to be used without intstalling any client sofware.

Multi page scanning. One of the primary reasons I bought this computer was the sheet fed scanner feature over the network. I was almost completely disappointed on this front as all initial scanning attempts seem to be 1 page at a time the manual even has a subtle implication here by specifically stating put documents on the glass top. Clearly the HP client software was written for use with a single sheet scanner as there are no software driven options available to the user to scan a stack of pages. FORTUNATELY the printer is aware of its features. By using the "SCAN TO" option from the printer control panel you can initiate multi-page scanning and direct the results to go any PC running the client software package. This isn''t too big of a drawback as you have to walk to the printer to put the pages to be scanned in anyway, although it still is a little frustrating that the software can''t control all the capabilities.

The installs worked perfectly on Windows 2000, but I encountered random scanning ability in Windows XP (NOTE: I wasn''t at SP2 yet on this machine which may be related).

Despite 700 megs of software, the imaging director software doesn''t gracefully reconnect when the printer is taken offline or provide much in the way of status. It clearly was written assuming a USB connection and they hacked in the network capability. The result is the software often can hang and needs to be restarted if you power down the printer. This is particular problematic with a laptop where the printer isn''t necessarily offline but the laptop may not be on the network.

Ok enough with the bad I am after all keeping the printer. I found the solution to most of my problems...

HP offers a "HP Basic Feature software/driver" download from their support website. This is a software install designed for corporate network usage (~40MB). A simple command line setup call with your printer IP address and it puts the printer driver, TWAIN scanning driver, and network drive for card access on your PC nothing more. Everything worked well in this mode and even handled power resets on the printer almost immediately. Too bad the boated client software doesn''t use this same code base. With this setup you don''t have the full blown Image Zone manipulation software or the Send To integration (see above), but you do have a solid network scanner/printer available. I have one full installation workstation and use this smaller client for all the other workstations.

I was looking for a multifunction device that could be both a home office printer and a network printer for other computers in the house, and this product from HP had more of the features I was seeking than any other I found. Unfortunately, it has been a chore to get it to work, and the first unit I received had to be exchanged because of a hardware problem. The good news is that HP tech support is generally pretty good at diagnosing and addressing these kinds of problems, but the bad news is that it is a real time sink to go through something like this. And still, if I do the ''typical'' install of drivers and software, the process destroys my desktop''s network drivers (apparently as it automatically uninstalls a scanning program that goes with my old HP Scanjet). If it all worked, it would be awesome, and the parts that do work are pretty neat. But they still need to get the bugs out of this, and I''m feeling like I was a little too quick to jump on this new product.

The sheet feeder on my machine was bad.

HP explained that the feeder (identified by its serial number) was from a bad lot.

They sent a replacement machine.

The sheet feeder failed on this one also.

HP explained that the feeder (identified by its serial number) was from the same bad lot.

There is something wrong here.

I have owned this printer/scanner for more than a year. During that time, it was the source of endless frustration. First, the sparse positive is that it does as it advertises:

It scans.

It prints.

It faxes.

It makes copies.

However, every single thing it does, if it accomplishes it at all, has major caveats, including some that are so mind-numbingly frustrating, I could only recommend it to my enemies.

The software is nightmarish and like most other HP products, is never updated. It has a well-documented bug which causes machines to freeze on suspend, but while documented, it has never been fixed. The solution is to disable the software, or give up the ability to have your machine go to stand by.

Even if you keep the software, it fights you every step of the way. God knows what it''s doing, but when it''s running, it chews up about 5% or more of processor time by itself, while the machine is idle and the software is NOT in use.

All the software foibles aside, the machine itself manages a so-so fax, poor quality scans which are barely adequate for copying a document, but do no justice to a photo. The automatic document feeder jams with regularity and its use is actually slower than just feeding the documents yourself, because you are forced to clear jams constantly, and the way the document feeder works, the scans themselves often smear and distort. It is a uselessly broken feature.

The print quality is just average, or below average, and is slow.

But the reason I am ready to bury this thing is as follows: every couple of months, whether or not you use the ink cartridges, it will demand a new cartridge with a vague "cartridge error". I don''t know if this is intentionally to force the user to buy new catridges, or if over time, the cartridges themselves clog up and must be replaced, but most recently, a new cartridge with *3* pages of print went belly-up after 2 months.

And here''s the clincher: you can''t use ANY other function until you replace the cartridge. How''s that for holding you hostage? Spend $40-$50 on a new cartridge which you haven''t really used or forget about sending that fax, or making that scan.

Avoid this unit. I have also used the 7410, which is no better. If you MUST have an all-in-one, I advise you look elsewhere.

This is the most expensive paperweight I have ever bought, but will be the most satisfying piece of trash I will ever throw away.

  • Sold by the Roll

First, you need to know that I know absolutely NOTHING about plotter paper. We need 36" wide paper for a project. We were thrilled to find a 150'' roll of it for such a great price, and that it is "translucent" was a big plus. "Translucent" means see-through so we were thinking more like a tracing paper. This roll is white. We can see through it well enough, it''s just not what we were expecting.

However, it''s reeeeeaaaaally good paper and the price per roll from this company can''t be beat so I''m giving it 5 stars.

I must admit I am not experienced when it comes to buying paper and do not know the "lb" and Brightness, all i look for is the size. but in this case I was searching for the manufacturer and so I kept looking at the picture of the product and not the description the picture showed the product I liked (compared to what I saw at work) and so I made my order. Then I received instead of 28lb I got 24lb; YES, it is my mistake but aside from that, why would anyone place a picture other than what it is advertised except to deceive you, it is not for a shortage of cameras is it? I fell for what they expect you to do and it will never happen again. If Amazon don''t do something about this, they will lose a customer and maybe more.

I have used an Epson for several years, being loyal to the brand, but have grown intolerant of the printing quality. No matter how much I calibrated the printer, I still go blue streaks everywhere for normal printing. Very frustrating.

''

The PIXMA MP280 has satisfied that need. It comes with a bunch of bells and whistles, but I was looking for something I would use every day to print, scan and copy, something to replace my Epson printer and Epson scanner (two separate components). This fit that need very well.

The price would lead you to believe that its quality is not very good. However, unless you''re a photographer or graphic artist who requires really high resolution output onto really good paper, this is a fine addition to the office.

With that said, here are some notes:

First, you need to supply your own USB printer cable for this device. The printer does not come with one. Personally, I find this to be a huge miss. No manufacturer should assume that any customer has all the tools for the job. It''s the same cable I use for my Epson, so I''m fine. This is such an easy way to make it easier on the end user. Therefore, this is a big miss.

SETUP AND INSTALLATION: I''m on a Mac, so setup was complete and I was printing in under 30 minutes. The manual says you need at least 20 minutes for software installation, but mine was installed in less than 10.

OUTPUT: Color printing was satisfactory. Nothing that I could hang on a wall (but I don''t need it.) At standard printing, the color output was insanely slow less than two pages per minute. If you use color printing at the "fast" selection, not much quality is sacrificed, and the printing came out to about four pages per minute. For black and white, the printing was again satisfactory, with about six pages per minute. As a note: In relation to the IPM, the problem with that measurement is that while we all print images, 99% of the time they are still on regular 8.5x11 paper. So the image could be nice, but the paper still has to come out. What I printed above were pdfs, and the color was SLOW.

COPYING: Very easy. One button for color or black and white with satisfactory output. The copier warming up takes longer than the copy itself a total of about 30 seconds.

SCANNING: Again, satisfactory. The DPI is not very high, but this is an everyday scanner. Most of the customers would be people who want to share images on Facebook.

COLOR CARTRIDGES: One of the things I hated about my old Epson was that I had to change out color cartridges about once every two months. I have run several dozen color prints through this and it''s now telling me that I need a color refill. Ugh. So I''m not thrilled that I may face the same situation with this one.

Overall, three stars. This is a solid printer for everyday use, and I like the compact size with the all-in-one features. The lack of a USB printer cable and the fact that it doesn''t do a very good job with color ink consumption keep me from giving this really high marks. But this has a place in a home where it will see a lot of output, perhaps in a home with school-age children or home office.

A good all-in-one, worth the money.

Using a PC, total set up time was about 30 minutes from unpacking to printing the first page. But it started out badly:

There was no USB Printer Cord in box, so if I didn''t have an extra around the house, I wouldn''t have been able to hook this up to my computer. There should have been a note that this would not be in the box, not just an omission of what IS in the box.

Ink cartridge insertion was very easy. I must say, btw, that I have a Canon PIXMA 1P4700 Premium Inkjet Photo Printer, and can easily compare the two. Insertion of the cartridges on the 4700 was very simple as well which is why I was interested in its "baby brother" for just fast, easy, ordinary print.

Color output satisfactory. This printer is made for everyday printing, not hanging museum-quality prints on the wall. Does a nice job. But printing color pages was outrageously slow only about 2 pages per minute. Ugh. The 4700 prints 9600 x 2400 dpi. This MP280 does a max of 4800 x 1200 dpi which may be fine for 4x6 prints, but I print mostly 5x7 and 8x10. The MP280 didn''t do well with larger prints and, judging from the way this one (too) is eating ink, this could be a very expensive process.

Speaking of ink, I continue to be disappointed by ALL manufacturers, but in this case by Canon for not making the cartridges of at least SOME of its printers interchangeable. In addition to buying for my primary 4700, now I have to spend up to $12 a cartridge for the MP280. However, I think that I will buy "after market" ink for this printer since my photographs will continue to be printed on the 4700.

The copying process was very easy one button and you can get color or b/w copies. It takes about 15-20 seconds to make a copy, sometimes an eternity. (The actual printing is about 2 seconds. Waiting for the document to get in the queue is what takes forever.)

Scanning good for everyday needs. If you''re sending a picture over the internet, this works perfectly. If you''re trying to recreate the Mona Lisa, this won''t have the resolution capabilities. (At least, I couldn''t see them)

It would be easy to say you get what you pay for here, since this is a $70 printer, but it''s a little better than that. This combo doesn''t take up much space, and performs nicely for everyday printing/copying/scanning needs. Compared with models out there that easily cost $200 or $300, I think this is worth what MOST people would do with it.

Do NOT buy this printer if your primary purpose is to print photographs. The resolution is less than satisfactory, and you''re stuck with 4x6" prints. Yes, I know that you can print from HD movies using the software, but very few of you will do this or ever use the software. I would suggest that, if you want prints from video, get some high-end software made for the purpose and, if you''re going that far, move up one or two notches in the Canon printer line.

Want Canon PIXMA MP280 Inkjet Photo All-In-One (4498B002) Discount?

The Canon PIXMA MP 280 Inkjet Photo All-in-one is a very reasonably priced multi-functional printer. But it consumes a lot of expensive ink. In fact, a single refill of black and color ink costs more than the printer itself did. The accompanying instructions are well-written and the set-up is very easy. I assume the reason for the low price of the printer is to get customers to buy a lot of very expensive ink. But most printer brands are this way ,and Canon printers are excellent. Buying cheaper generic ink has not been a good idea in my experience since these inks are often incompatible and cause the branded printer to malfunction or not function at all.

This is a surprisingly good combination printer/scanner/copier for the money, and it is an excellent choice for most home users, so I am basing my review and star rating on that basis. It''s very good for printing nice vacation or family pictures or making greeting cards or such. You can do nice borderless prints up to 8.5 x 11 inches. There are more expensive and higher-quality printers available for professionals, but a printer like this is a better choice for casual users.

I was also very happy with the quality when printing a text document. The text appeared very crisp and clear.

The printer is quite lightweight and easy to handle. Setup was quite painless except for the problem of not having a USB cable included in the box. This is so annoying, but Canon is not the only manufacturer guilty of this shortcoming.

Basic usage is fairly intuitive, but I recommend loading the manual from the included CD. It is quite comprehensive, but easy to navigate and understand. This printer has quite a few unexpected features. As one example, although it is easy to scan using the autoscan feature, there are many other settings and options available for scanning, including saving in PDF format and even a rudimentary OCR function to convert scanned text document to editable text.

The copier function also works well for a basic model. Keep in mind that it is limited in size to an original of 8.5 by 11.7 inches. It can reduce or enlarge, but only in set sizes, primarily between full-page size and 4 x 6". At the price of this printer, I was not expecting any reduce/enlarge functions at all, so here I am counting it as a plus, not a minus.

One feature I have not tested, but you might be interested in, involves advanced printing options from the Internet. According to Canon, you can choose what to print when viewing a Web page. That feature is worth investigating if you often print from the Internet. I don''t do that very often, and it requires loading their toolbar (optional, part of the setup process). I''m too cautious to add a toolbar that I won''t use very often, but it sounds like a worthwhile feature to check out if you have the need.

HP C3833A Premium Ink Jet Paper

  • Genuine HP quality product

While I don''t particularly find much use for most of HP''s premium paper line, their glossy papers offer a sufficiently distinct printing experience that one can easily find a use for them. They make excellent paper for final copies of work you intend to display, or even for stuff you merely intend to archive.

This glossy, however, is not particularly recommendable because of its low value-for-money. Only ten sheets are available here. For virtually the same price you can get their professional brochure & flyer paper, which is double-sided and comes in a 50-pack. I therefore can''t see an economic rationale to buying this otherwise excellent paper. Look for HP product number C6817A instead.

What fun are your digital pictures if you can''t print some of them and take them along?

Thats exactly what I do sometimes and this paper gives me exactly what I need. This glossy paper gives my printed pictures quality as sharp as my computer displays them. Combined with a quality printer ( i use an HP 842C ), colors come out vivid and the clarity is very nice.

Sure its expensive, but if you want to print your digital pictures then this is the paper for you. Hope this helps.

  • Laser printing at 600 dpi for professional-quality prints
  • Copier can scale originals from 25% to 400%
  • Flatbed scanner also has 40-page document feeder
  • Backed by 1-year warranty

Pros: The shipping box shows a huge diagram showing exactly how to repack everything into the box, in case you need to ever send in for repairs. Operation is simple, yet versatile lots of function options. Heavy: reassuring ruggedness. Very, very easy to install/replace drum or ink cartridge!

Cons: Noisy, for instance a continuous fan noise. The original unpack, assembly is easy but there are no written directions, only lots of pictures. Took me awhile to turn the pieces around in my hand to match the photos. IOW, a few words would have helped! Actually, however, the drum and cartridge installation is all there is to assemble, and do it once and you realize its very simple and quick. 1: Cut toner pack top with scissors and shake it 2. Lift the top up and set drum into hole (or remove drum from hole). 3. Turn the cartridge to lock (or unlock): Thats it! No messiness.

No USB cord... :(

Other Thoughts: All lazer printers are big and heavy, think old 17"" crt monitor size. But this one needs only abt 3"" clearance behind (power cord plug), 0"" left and right, and the output tray extends in front only 4"" (and it slides back inside when no paper in the tray). The scanner lid opens from the front, hence no side clearance necessary. Scanning/printing quality: excellent. OCR character recognition for .jpg, .tiff, etc. files to text: amazingly accurate, wonderful! Easy to use, yet lots of options on board the unit''s keyboard: 5 shortcut buttons, lcd display, keypad, 4 way hat. Even more options using the free Multi Funciton Station software. Printing speed is very good at 300x300. A bit slow at 600x600 printing and all scanning.

Has been trouble free and intuitive to use for the few months I have had this.

That inkjet contraption is costing you thousands of $''s for supplies/materials down through the years. So get a laser! (And save the little inkjet under the desk/out of the way for color work when necessary).

Come on, people. Be realistic. You''re talking about a laser MFC in the really low cost range (I just bought mine today at C@stco for under $60!). Because of the low cost, I wasn''t expecting anything spectacular.

In fact, the only reason I bought it was for the auto-document feeder so that I could scan multiple pages at a time without switching out pages after every scan. I couldn''t be more pleased, and it seems to work as well as the far more expensive document scanners. If it didn''t come with a printer attached I would have still purchased it.

I''ve printed a test page and I find no problems with print quality or toner rubbing off. The image I saw was dark enough even with toner save enabled. Of course the test page is going to be the best the machine can do. I have no problems with what I saw.

Printer/Fax/Copy operation is straight forward. There is nothing spectacular to report in this aspect. It does what it was designed to do, and it seems to do it well.

As for the small amount of toner included (roughly 500 pages worth), the documentation is clear in stating that the cartridge is a starter cartridge. A normal replacement cartridge will print about 2000. Before complaining, consider the following. HP and Lexmark have been shipping products with low capacity starter cartridges for years, as have most other major manufacturers. Personally, for what I paid for the device, I''m glad it even came with toner.

The lack of a USB printer cable would be a bit of a drag for most people, but let''s return to the title of my review: "You get what you pay for." I never expected there to be one. Besides, the normal 6 ft. cable that would be included for me would have been too short anyway. Now I have one less cable to have to store. Also, a lot of people replace older printers, not run new ones concurrently with older ones (unless he happens to be like me who is now running three scanners and three physical printers off of the same machine along with three virtual printers, each for a different purpose)

The lack of a power switch was a bit surprising, but not something that was completely unexpected. I have yet to see an MFC (other than really really expensive ones) that have a power switch. It does have a "Power Save" button which lights up red when pressed and goes off when the device detects paper being loaded or the PC wakes it up for a job. I''m going to guess that hooking it up to a power strip and forcibly turning the device on and off for every use would damage the MFC after a while. I don''t believe it was ever designed to withstand that kind of system shock on a regular basis.

I gave it five stars because, even after taking into consideration some of the negatives, it all boils down to being one sweet deal.

Good laser quality printing/copying/scanning. Excellent MSRP price.

Another NICE feature is that its easy to refill the laser printer toner cartridge using a toner refill kit. Since the cartridge just flips open, there is no need to drill holes. So say goodbye! to expensive new cartridges :-).

Cons:

1. Panasonic''s website doesnt have a link to updated windows drivers. They are available at:2. Its a GDI based printer which means that it wont work as a local printer with Ubuntu or other Linux PCs. However, there a ways to get it to be shared to Linux/Ubuntu clients on the ubuntu forums.

Let''s be realistic about what this unit can do. Firstly it lists at 149.95, can be bought for as little as $80.00 or less new in box. At this price point only a basic monochrome lazer printer is priced at, never mind a copier or ocr scanner.

I don''t like the menu set up, though, it does the job. Installation is easy, the drivers are on the CD rom and you should be able to install it in about 10 minutes or so, including the time to install the toner/drum assemblies. Most units don''t include a USB cable, so the lack of it is no surprise; your local Radio Shack or computer store has those easily available.

As a copier its about par for the course, reasonable given its price/size point; only a regular copier can give you an outstanding copies. The scanner and software work ok, I''ve seen a lot worse and some better, but only a stand alone scanner works great.

For the average home use, it''s a great unit. Less expensive to run than ink jets, a little noisy at start up, NO ON or OFF SWITCH!, copies ok, and priced at ink jet territory. For heavy use, you''ll need to spend about $400 or more, at a price point of $150 or less, its a nice unit.

If you want perfection, buy three seperate units: scanner w/ocr software, a copier, and a printer... only you''ll spend far more than this machine.

I''ve had several laser printers. Saw this at Costco and figured I''d try it for office use. Prints great. Scans great (color or b&w). Copies great. Come on, for $60 bucks this thing should be a piece of crap, but it does the job.

Other reveiwers have stated that it comes with a starter cartridge that prints 500 copies. This is correct. Get over it. It''s a $60 laser printer. The standard toner cartridges print 2000.

No power button. This sucks, but oh well. Get over it. It''s a $60 laser printer.

No USB cable. Get over it. It''s a $60 laser printer.

I purchased two for office use, and they do scan a little tilted, but again, I got over it. It''s a $60 laser printer.

Mine don''t make any of the loud noises others have mentioned, and is very quiet. I leave it on 24/7 and push the power save button when not in use.

****UPDATE DEC 2011**** Three years and this thing is still going strong!!! Just found out the hard way that it IS NOT compatible with Mac. Would have been nice to know. I now have no use for it, so will donate to a good home. For the money, best printer I''ve ever had.

Not a bad product just not the right size. Maybe list on the packaging, which holder size best fits the inserts. Was a bit nervous that they wouldn''t arrive on time but they did.

I used these for name tags (Avery Pin Style Top-Loading Name Badges) at an event for a Fortune 50 company that was attended by upper-upper management. Avery has templates for their different badge sizes on Microsoft Word super easy to print. Just make sure to practice printing so you know for sure which way the printer will print on the sheets two different printers printed two different ways for me.

I purchased the name tag holders separately and needed some additional name tag inserts. In the past I tried a cheaper brand and that was a mistake. Thus I went back to Avery since the inserts fit the holders exactly and the printing comes out much nicer.
