- Print what you see - HP Smart Web Printing gives you usable Web pages without cut-off edges

So I decided, as a stop gap, I''d buy the cheapest littlest printer I could find. I could just put it on a table in my office and stop running up and down the steps to see if my print jobs happened. If they ever get the network set up right, then I could ditch the little printer and go back to the mother ship for quality.
I bought a little HP Deskjet F2120 - all-in-one printer, scanner, copier. In fact, I did not know about the all-in-one virtues til I got this baby home. I just wanted little and cheap. I also did not know about the OCR software that''s included or its ability to do two sided printing. (I haven''t tried either yet, but THAT it''s included is a nice feature.)
What a surprise! This little baby is F A S T .. much faster, at least in the black and white mode, than the fancy Cannon we run on the house system. I''m not sure how it will last. But as most of what I print is just to read, mark up and then toss, I''m thinking this could be a nice little addition to my office equipment.

The first prints came out amazing. I used to work in a one hour photo lab with a Noritsu QSS-3011, basically the Cadallic of mini-lab printers. The best of the best. I am college student majoring in photography so quality is #1 to me. I would always print my pictures at the lab and fine tune each print so I would get the best. With this printer, I get nearly the EXACT SAME QUALITY. Which is nothing short of amazing considering we are talking about a lab machine that is in the costs of tens of thousands of dollars. The prints that I have printed from the R1800 rival the quality of that from the Nortisu lab printer.
The 8 inks provide a cost effective method instead of replacing one expensive color tank when just one color runs out. You can just replace whatever color you run out of.
The R1800 prints bordless sizes up to 13" in width. It can print panoramics from 4" to 13" from rolls of paper. Imgaine having a 13" by 44" panoramic on your wall! With the R1800, it''s just that easy.
The R1800 can also print on CD''s, which is a neat feature, but one that I probably won''t use too much until I get ready to graduate and create portfolio CD''s with my work on them.
5,760 x 1,440 optimized dpi resolution is what makes these prints so amazingly crisp in quality.
The speed of the printer is pretty impressive too. 11x14''s in under 3 minutes? 4x6''s in under 45 seconds? Yes please!
I believe the best paper I''ve used with R1800 is Epson''s Premium Luster paper. It''s semi glossy with a sheer luster to it that makes the color and contrast hold of the paper look amazing.
If you are even an amatuer photographer and care about the quality of your printers and are in the market for an at home studio printer, you cannot go wrong with the R1800. I would reccommend nothing else.

Everyone complains about the ink use and it drives me nuts. Epsons have the best quality and horrible ink use because for the same reason, piezoelectric technology.Every other inkjet company uses thermal technology which basically heats a pocket of ink to the boiling point and pushes out the remaining ink. This leads to rogue ink vapor and a fixed droplet size. Look inside a HP that has been around a while and you will see that the whole machine is coated inside with condensed ink vapors. When HP (Canon, Lexmark etc) need a larger drop they just squirt out multiple drops, a less effective method of control.
Epson''s piezoelectric technology uses crystals that have variable flex depending on the current applied. This allows for fine droplet size control. Epson is the only printer company that can produce variable droplet size. This impacts the quality of the print and leads to Epson''s quality lead. This also gives Epson more flexibility in the inks they choose to use since they don''t have to make ink that can boil. This is why they were the first to produce pigmented inks.
The down side to this technology is that the print head are expensive to make and hence Epson is also the only company to make a inkjet that doesn''t have user replaceable print heads. Anyone who has set aside an HP or Lexmark for any period of time knows that the ink starts evaporating if a head isn''t used and the head gets clogged permanently. Epson is not immune from this problem but since you can''t replace it they have to prevent the head from clogging in the first place. Their solution is to occasionally flush the head to prevent build up of ink solids. This leads to the ''mysterious'' ink use people complain about. Each cartridge has a separate head and each head must occasionally be either used or flushed. If you were to use an HP your unused colors eventually would become clogged and you would have to replace the head or cartridge with head to get it working. It is a trade off.

I sell prints in galleries both online as well as at a brick and mortar gallery, and before purchasing this printer, I was seriously considering the pro oriented Epson R2400 and the HP Designjet 30. I decided on the Epson R1800 because of its better glossy output and the Wilhelm Image Research predicted print longevity of up to 200 years without fading on some Epson papers. This same prediction applies to the Epson R2400 as well, however, from the sample prints that Epson sent me, I didn''t like the glossy output of the new K3 inks that the R2400 uses -the highlight areas where there is hardly any ink laid out on the paper show no gloss, and when viewed at an oblique angle, the latter are disturbingly dull. I must admit however that, were my work exclusively Black and White on matte paper, there would be no better printer for the purpose than the Epson R2400, or the 4800, and the 7800 pro series. My choice, was determined by my work, comprised of color in both glossy and matte, as well as B&W at which, with the proper profiles, the Epson R1800 is very capable. Many pros with the same needs as mine use the R1800 as their standard printer. One problem with the printer is that it has somewhat of a drinking problem -not so much while printing, but every time it is powered up after a period of non-use it goes automatically into a cleaning cycle, whether needed or not, and that consumes a lot of ink. To overcome this, I leave my printer on around the clock. It uses very little power when idle (2 Watts -less than a night light). To prevent printhead clogging, I print at least a nozzle check printout (using very little ink) every day, and so far I have not had any problems with either clogging, or excessive ink consumption. To protect the printer from possible damage caused by power outages or surges, I have it connected to a UPS Battery backup surge protector.
Although I gave a 5 star rating to this printer, based on its superior output, the caveat still remains about its excessive ink consumption if turned off and on frequently. I do not hesitate to recommend this printer to any savvy photographer, though a beginner is likely to face a rather steep, but worthwhile and not impossible learning curve.

I agree completely with all the positive reviews and I used HP printers up until recently. The positive reviews are not overstated. I do have one thing to add. If you read all of the reviews, you will notice that the only negative reviews were made by non-photographers. This is important. The Epson R1800 is made for pro photographers and serious amateurs. As a photographer I know put it, HP printers are designed for mass consumer use. If you want to print out some pictures to put in your scrapbook, send grandmother, or give a friend, get an HP. If you plan to sell your pictures, you need an Epson R1800 or R2400.
The Epson 1800 will produce prints that look like they came from a photo lab, reproduce file detail, and reproduce the colors in the original file to a degree that only an expert could tell the difference. This is not an overstatement. To the trained eye, the improvement over current HP photo printers is dramatic.
The Epson 1800 is, however, much harder to use, and for this level of color accuracy, must be used with something that corrects your monitors output to display accurate colors, such as Pantone''s Eye-One. You must use Epson inks and papers, download the latest driver and paper profiles, use the software settings properly, and you must use it with Photo Shop or Photo Elements to do the printing. This is why I state that this printer is for pros and serious amateurs and if you just want to print nice pictures, use an HP.
On a final note, if you read a lot of high end printer specifications, it gets very confusing. Epson produces several high end printers. They all produce professional level results, and the differences in the photos they produce, are so subtle that only a professional can tell the difference. Even then, experienced users can compensate for those differences and produce results that are virtually indistinguishable from other high end printers. In the end, it all boils down to the fact that color and print quality are a matter of your perception and preferences. The Epson 1800 has the power to adjust your photos to look just the way want.I bought my R1800 two weeks ago and it''s fabulous! I''ve been doing quite a bit of photo retouching in PhotoShop and was anxious to see some of my work in large format. The resulting output totally exceeded my expectations! I was also surprised at the speed at which such fine output was generated. I was somewhat concerned about the cost of maintaining an 8-color system as the cost of replacement cartridges ranges between $12.99 and $14.99, but I''ve done quite a bit of printing and the color levels have barely budged (and I use the setting for the highest print quality). This is truly a great printer for digital photographers, scrapbookers, and PhotoShop enthusiasts like me. It''s an incredible piece of equipment.
Epson Stylus CX3810 All In One
- Produces borderFree photos in popular frame-ready sizes
- Speeds through black text up to 18 PPM and color up to 9 ppm
- Restores old faded color photos
- PC-free black and white or color copying
- Convenient individual ink cartridges
Well engineered. Smooth and easy setup. Photos are excellent for a multi-function, nearly as good as my Epson Picturemate.
I thought about buying the more expensive Epson CX5800F because it offers fax. I seldom use fax so instead I''ll just scan in the document, then either email or use internet fax.
My only knock is that this is marketed under the overloaded term "All in one" so I guess that makes the CX5800F an "All-er in one". It would be so much clearer if the industry adopted acronyms like PSC or PSCF to clearly distinguish major functions at a glance.

Good printer for the money, but it is not true when you say "All in one printer" this term we use with printers that can do1. Print
2. Copy
3. Scan
4. Fax
This printer does 1st 3 so I might call it "Almost All in one printer", I mean EPSON could have add a small modem port while putting all this scanning and printing hardware, I am sure it would cost less then a $1 to EPOSN giving the margin of being printer manufacturing giant of the world.
Printer is fast but not fast enough as its peers like Canon, also printing speed mentioned in the book must be "Draft" printing speed otherwise if you could have more then one regular page in 30sec you might be printing a triangle or a single phrase per page :)
okay lets talk about quality, I gave it 5/5 period, for a dirt cheap printer (I got it for $30 from Staples.com) it does meet or exceed any expectation you might have for a printer in this category.
Scanning is good but software should have little more options but copy function is a killer, just press color or B/W button from the printer (whatever type of copy you need) and boom, you got a copy in less then a minute while sitting on your desk and without truing on the computer, cool isn''t it? No more going to store for a stupid 5 cent copy and waste of 1/2 gallon of gas; not to mention the time wasted (on invested).
Complete waste of Ink as all EPOSN printers are; it does a little version of head cleaning every time you turn it on, better keep it on to save the ink, use only 3 Watts in sleep mode since Epson Stylus CX3810 has earned the ENERGY STAR® by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.
Remember printer manufacturers make money from the sales of ink cartridges not printer so these suckers drink ink faster then your fish drink water. (this cliché seems little far fetched huh?)
this printer use Durabrite ink but I don''t :) , I use compatible dye based ink cartridges from eBay; ¼ the price and does the trick as per my requirements, shhhhhhh..... don''t tell EPSON!!!
I mean come on; get serious here, why should I pay 4 times more for a ink that last 80 year? I am sure I might not last that long myself :) you know I am not maintaining historical archive for the library of congress using this printer :)
I use it for my every day work and most of my print out heading towards garbage bin after I am done with them; in some cases they go out to postal mail where I am sure I don''t need them for next 80 years.
For Photo printing I always use 6 colors printing where as this printer has 4 basic colors so detail in photos are not that "detail" but again not bad either, if you print photos on good quality photo papers they came out as "keepers".

Just bought and installed it , installation was a breeze. Ran my first print , good print results and extremetly quiet while printing.Scanned a picture and it scanned perfect with great results but it was bit slow and the software lets you save in various formats like PDF JPEG TIFF.
Love the single button copy feature but a bit slow though. Can''t expect more for that price.
Overall 5 stars, just wish the inks were a bit cheaper. Very happy with my purchase.

I got this for $40 at Staples after rebates. My HP just died, and I needed something quick. For that money, it''s a bargain. But you get what you pay for.PROS Inexpensive AIO
CONS Stand-alone copier is disappointing, printing is a bit slow
Printer Works fine, but quite slow
Scanner Works fine
Photo printer No experience
Ink Uses 4 catridges, a plus. The cartridges are easy to load, and the software monitors ink level, that''s nice.
Installation Follow the instructions on the included "Getting Started" poster. Takes about 15 minutes at most.
Stand-alone copier Useless. If you want 5 copies, you have to press the "Start" button 5 times!
DOS Since it doesn''t support PCL, printing in DOS may be difficult.
As a second printer, or for a dorm room, this printer is a bargain. As a day to day work-horse, look elsewhere.
BOTTOM LINE The printer is worth $40, but doesn''t meet MY needs. I knew it wouldn''t, but as I said I needed somehing to replace my dead HP real fast.Works well. It prints how I expected it to for a low priced printer. I picked it up at a local Staples for $59.95 after rebates and it does everything I wanted it to. I love having the scanner and with seperate inks, it saves me a lot of money on refills. I liked the software that came with it and it is easy to use to me. Epson is a great company and this is a great printer.

I needed a simple, inexpensive printer to print out my personal photo''s. When factoring in the 2 included inkjet cartridges, this printer is just about free. The photo''s it''s printed for me look fine to my non-professional eyes. So far, I''m very happy with this printer as opposed to the utter frustration I experienced very quickly with my prior HP all-in-one. I had received the HP for free when I''d purchased my Macbook, and I had nothing but problems. However, this Canon has so far not given me a single problem, and the cost of replacement cartridges seems very reasonable. I recommend this printer for anybody needing a simple photo printer for low volume use.Read Best Reviews of Canon PIXMA iP6310D Photo Inkjet Printer (Gray) Here
So far I am pleased with this product. It arrived undamaged and much faster than I had anticipated. For an inkjet printer the quality is really good, though somewhat slow. It is easy to use and install. I have had some trouble with printing as the paper in the tray was not feeding properly. After working with it for a while I finally got it to work. I have not used it to print photos yet, but so far I am pleased.Want Canon PIXMA iP6310D Photo Inkjet Printer (Gray) Discount?
I needed a new printer ASAP after my old one just stopped working. Wonder of wonders, Amazon had a special on the Canon PIXMA iP6310D that day. The reviews were good, the price was better.I have now had this printer as my main printer for several months, and the things I like about it are:
-Very clear page prints
-Ease of use (loading, tray, set-up, etc)
-Size and design
The things I don''t:
-Fairly noisy
-Takes a while to print a page, noisily wheezing back and forth, even before starting to print a page
-Photos come out with definite pixel lines
Short story? Great for home office use, printing pages, etc. If you need something that will print good pictures, keep looking.
Edit: Printer now is jamming every time I try to print. I have tried contacting Canon Tech Support after following all the online help areas, but have yet to receive a response after several emails over the past couple of weeks. Really disappointed.for a photo printer, this isn''t the greatest printer. I can''t tell the differance in the pictures my epson C84 printed to what this one prints. however this printer is much faster. another thing, it only has 2 ink cartrages. if you are looking for a good photo printer get one that has 4 or more cartrages.
all in all it is a good printer, but I don''t think its worth the price.
Brother HL-3070CW Compact Digital Color Printer
- Prints up to 17ppm in color and black
- Built-in wireless 802.11b/g and Ethernet network interfaces
- High-quality output at up to 600 x 2400 dpi resolution using Brother''s Digital LED technology
- Adjustable 250-sheet capacity paper tray for letter or legal size paper
- USB Direct Interface
My problem is that I printed a few hundred pages and then the printer reported IT WAS OUT OF TONER. WTF? The "starter" toner was supposed to be at least a few thousand pages.
I made the mistake of buying a new black toner cartridge. Then after it printed a few pages, it said the magenta cartridge was out of toner! I was trying to print black! This printer has a serious problem of not knowing when or if the toner cartidges is either out of, or completely full of toner.
After I found this trick, I got another 1,000 pages out of that "empty" toner cartridge.
Here''s how to fix the problem (quoted from someone else but it really works... you can Google this problem and it will say to put electical tape on the sensor, but that does NOT NOT NOT work with this printer. Only this will work):
1)'' Turn the printer off and then on again.
2) Open cover.
3) Press Cancel and Secure Print buttons at the same time.
4) Press the + button and scroll through the colors that need to be reset. (reset both STR and STD when prompted. I just reset them all.
5) Press OK (twice, once for STR and STD)
6) You''re done. You don''t even need to take the cartridges out and the printer thinks you just installed four new toner cartridges.
Reset menu for the durable parts counters:
1. Open cover where you access toners
2. Press GO and + button at once, you''ll see menu come up displaying reset counters for drum, fuser, etc.
This unit has stopped printing four times, telling me that I''ve burned through three magenta toner cartridges. Each time I used this "secret" reset method and fixed it. I''m still on the original magenta cartridge. This "secret" reset method has saved me $200.
Oh, Brother... fix this problem and quit robbing people by making your printers tell them they are out of toner when they really are not. What you are doing is just plain weak. WEAK!

In this day of laptops, netbooks, and sophisticated phones, a network printer can simplify things greatly. With a wireless network already running in the house, we could add a wireless printer and put it where it most convenient for us rather than where there was a network connection. Enter the Brother HL-3070CW.First a bit about printing technologies: Inkjets are cheaper to purchase, but the cost of ink cartridges is staggering over time. The HL-3070CW comes with a set of "starter" toner cartridges, rated for 1,000 pages each. Compare that to an inkjet, where ratings of 150 200 pages from a full set of carts are common. (Our Epson CX5800F is lucky to get 75 pages out of a set of cartridges, given the amount of ink we waste on clogged print heads.) The Brother toner cartridges cost more to replace, but you''ll be replacing them much less often. The replacement black toner cartridge is rated for 2,200 pages, and the replacement color cartridges are rated at 1,400 pages each. The printer''s drum units are also user-replaceable, and are rated for 15,000 sheets. By my calculations, assuming that we get half of the rated pages from the toner cartridges, we''ll have made up the cost difference between these technologies in less than a year. The Brother will be significantly cheaper to run over time, without the frustration of clogged printheads.
I bought the Brother HL-3070CW shortly after it was released. This was a bit of a leap of faith, given that there were no reviews available at the time. It took about 20 minutes to unbox the printer, set it up, and connect it to our (WPA-PSK secured) wireless network. It was a painless process from start to finish. The toner cartridges slot into the top of the printer easily, and the paper tray (250 sheets) slides in the bottom.
The LCD screen on the printer is very basic, but it''s easy to read, it includes a back light, and it does its job well. The menu system is very simple (one item at a time, scroll with the up and down keys), but the choices are easy to understand and the menu works exactly as expected. I''ve never had to read the operating manual that came with the printer. (Installation documentation is supplied on paper, but the operating manual is a pdf file on the included disc.)
Print quality has been excellent from the start. Characters are well-formed and easy to read, and graphic quality is very high with solid, vivid colors. Although not true photo quality, images are perfectly suitable for business purposes (brochures, presentations, etc.).
I''ve used paper from 20 to 32 pounds without incident with this printer. I have not had any paper jams, and the printer always picks up just one sheet of paper. The output tray on the top is rated to hold 100 sheets, and it looks like it could do that easily. The printer will handle legal sized sheets, although so far all of my printing has been on letter sized paper. There''s a manual feed slot for thicker media and envelopes, but I''ve not had a reason to try it yet.
The printer uses 10 watts while asleep, and wakes from sleep very quickly. It takes less than 20 seconds for the first page to print if the printer''s asleep when the document is sent. I''ve set my printer to go to sleep quickly, and have experienced no problems at all with it waking when documents are sent to it. The printer has also recovered gracefully from a power outage, including reconnecting to our wireless network automatically. It makes some noise when it feeds paper, but the noise level isn''t objectionable.
One other interesting feature: The printer includes a USB port that can be used with PictBridge cameras, or that can be used to print some document types (e.g., pdf, jpeg) directly from a thumb drive.
The Brother HL-3070CW is easy to set up, it uses little energy in standby mode, it feeds paper reliably, its consumable costs are reasonable, and it produces excellent quality output. I''m not sure what else one could ask for from a printer. I''m very happy with this unit, and have recommended it to others who have also had good experiences with it.

Very easy to configure, at least with my Mac, and using the plug-in Ethernet connection. Great color, and very crisp printouts, nearly laser quality output (it''s actually an LED printer, which uses a less-costly print technology than laser, but has the same basic laser-type toner cartridges). Even from an inch away the fonts look very crisp.Toner cartridges are about $60 each. The starter cartridges are supposed to last 1000 pages but I''ve only had it a month so we''ll see how that goes. You get (essentially) laser quality output but for $350, color, USB, Ethernet and wireless interfaces built in so it''s hard to beat. No problems at all to date, but as I say it''s still new.
Colors are very good, but if you''re looking to print photos it''s not going to look as good as a photo printer. Great for color images and charts/graphs in documents, though, and better color quality than my $99 Epson ink jet (non photo printer).
Setup on the USB and plug-in Ethernet network connection is quite easy, there''s a built in web interface in the printer that you login to. Had to download a driver from the Brother website but that was easy to do. Setting up the wireless interface looks like it would take 30 minutes or so, but the plug-in Ethernet setup only took ten minutes plus another ten to download the driver for my computer. Hardware setup (unpacking really, and inserting the four toner cartridges) was about 15 minutes.

After following all the instructions for installation both for wireless and wired mode (separately), at the last step where the Brother software indicated that everything was finished (including intermediate steps when a page was printed correctly), my computer came up with the message that the driver is not compatible with my system, Windows Vista, because it is kernel-mode driver. I downloaded the driver again from the web, same problem. The customer service person told me over the phone that Brother does not provide support for this printer over the weekend. This is printer for use at home. During the week I am at work and their evening hours are limited. The printer clearly received a wireless command from my computer and printed a page during the installation, but the installation could not be completed for the driver.
I don''t blame the printer; I blame the company for lack of information and help on their website and over the phone in connection with this type of problem.
Update 9-27-10
I contacted the Brother Customer service several times now. The last time I insisted to talk to a supervisor. All he could say is that the problem is with my operating system and to contact Microsoft! He could not offer any help nor could he verify whether the print driver is kernel-mode print driver, which is apparently incompatible with my operating system.I have been looking to replace my HP Photosmart inkjet printer for a couple years now. Although I enjoyed the photo capabilities of the inkjet, it just didn''t do it when I needed important black & white copies or color copies of my excel financial workbooks. I wanted a color laser printer but not at the expensive business prices plus it had to be wireless, network ready, & both Mac & PC friendly. Until I saw this Brother printer, no home color laser met all those requirements.
I was a bit apprehensive with this purchase since I had always owned HP printers & respect their reliability. But I have been using the Brother printer for over a month. It has far exceeded my expectations! Once I got rid of the cheap inkjet paper & replaced it with higher quality laser paper, the print jobs really shined. It is both a joy to print out my work financial statements in color and print jobs for every day use. I recently printed out my tax returns & enjoyed the laser black & white capabilities sorely missed with the inkjet.
This is the perfect printer for a home office. It is built like a small tank too (nothing cheap about the quality). Although I was a bit put off having to buy four print cartridges (at $40-$50 each), after shopping online I found some good buys. Plus, the output is more than double from anything you get from inkjet cartridges. The only thing it can''t do are photos. But, I kept my HP inkjet for those jobs. I highly recommend this color laser printer (btw, Brother calls it digital color LED print technology).

We have the 3000 since two years and we have printed around 80000 pages without troubles, except for an input tray which had to be substituted.
The 3000 is very fast ( even if not so much while printing on hp special papers ) and everybody appreciate both the reliability while printing and the network installation which has been absolutely trouble free.
I love it since I can print ACAD files ( covers of our papers ) and JPEG photos without thinking whether this time the driver will work well or not, whether I''ll have a paper jam or the ink will smuggle.
I have had only some troubles with some HP photo papers ( it smuggled ) , whereas with HP brochure papers it works perfectly.
On the contrary the xerox 6250, which costs much much more than the HP 3000, even if it incredibly fast and the laser quality is better than inkjet for printing graphs and chart bars, is not very appreciated since it has great problems with the PCL driver, it has much more paper jams and the cost of the
consumables is extremely higher. We also have a HP 2600 which is a very poor product.
If you need a fast and reliable inkjet for high volume prints go in a network environment, I think you''ll be very happy with it.I have to say, I have been a loyal HP fan, and I picked this printer to replace my old 2000 model, which I loved. I wanted a HIGH capacity ink machine, that would do color printing without the constant cartridge change of less professional models. This printer (my second one) is nothing but an albatross. It has never worked right from day one. The first one, which was exchanged for this new one, was defective, shook the table apart and never was able to get going. The new one is worse. The on off button does not work until it feels like it, it jams paper, it bands the colors completely missing some spots of color, it is WAY too noisy, it prints in jerking steps and comes out of the machine in jerks, print quality is somewhat grainy, nothing like the quality I have come to expect from HP printers. I have an emergency $29.00 HP models Inkjet 3520 that has FAR superior print ability. Shame on HP! POOR POOR design. I am still awaiting a return for this one! I would recommend you DO NOT get this machine, as it is a dinosaur. This printer works great for me. I find the quality is good enough for me to use draft mode for printing fliers. The printer has great print quality (for a non-Photo printer) and is exceptionally fast. There are four separate print cartriges which have remtoe print heads to printing is relatively econominal. One thing to note is that the printer senses when the print cartrige is empty and will stop printing. This isn''t a problem for me, but it might be for people tring to refill cartriges or who want to stretch the print cartriges to the end. Also, the printer can get pricey if you purchase bundled with the duplexor and the print server options.

Bought this All-in-one printer to replace an older HP in our office; paid $500 new plus toner. Printer is noisy with every print, but print quality is fair. After less than 1000 prints the 2727 will no longer work. Spoke with HP and they gave option of 1)pay to ship it to/from a shop an hour away 2)pay to ship it to HP for a turnaround of 4-5 weeks 3)pay $70 for another printer to be mailed to me. After expressing frustration with such poor quality and even poorer options for support, they agreed to ship a refurbished model to me @ no cost. If I had the option, I would return it (or throw it in the trash.) As it is, they are holding my credit card hostage until I return the defective machine. Would not buy again. For that matter, I will be much more hesitant to buy HP in the future.Read Best Reviews of HP LaserJet M2727nf Multifunction Printer Here
Search for the other HP 2727 items on Amazon. These multifunction centers would be great, if they didn''t die. I have had two die in a little over a year. Same death. Others have had 3 or 4 replacements from HP. I love HP''s, but these are horrible. The product is great. Forget about contacting the seller. I wanted color, my mistake, Ready to buy color and did. They would never acknowledge any emails or anything, I''m up to my third reqwuest with no answers. Amazon, says yeah we got the emails, but apparently they don''t do anything about this stuff either when you want to make a simple exchange. I''m still waiting,, They will probably get back and say it''s past thirty days NOw, And I started the day I got it !! Sad , no wonder !HP CB509A - LaserJet P4015N Printer

The overall quality of print is passable but not top of the line nor a good choice if you want nice photo-quality prints.
However, if you need to print normal text or perhaps a page from the internet, it does fine. The pages come out at a fair pace (better than one would expect from a small printer) and the quality is acceptable.
The footprint is relatively small and if you plan to carry around with you, expect to use something like a backpack or camera style backpack for your laptop and the printer.
The blue tooth that comes with it works well enough. Just remember to install the blue tooth drivers then deal with Windows itself (in that order).
The one real caveat relates to small printer small ink cartridges. One has to realize to keep this unit small and consume little power, the cartridges are on the small side. Fortunately, they are easily found at various merchants and not an odd special cartridge(s). There is the option to get slightly larger ones but again, the larger ones are also fairly small in output.
Last on the not so good list HP insists on some of their inkjets to use flimsy mechanisms for housing the ink cartridges. In this case they have some "wires" bent to work with the install assembly of the cartridges. This is asking for trouble sooner or later.
I have not ran enough paper through to experience any paper feed problems and thus, cannot comment on this. This is an important part and as those who have had laser printers and inkjets know this can be a problem that occurs over time.
Overall the unit is passable and in some respect very nice. I give it three stars rather than four because of the ink install assembly. The blue tooth, compactness, reasonable output are all to be appreciated.

Set up easily bluetooth has about a 15 foot range the wifi is probably multi-room with a longer range. The printer takes up less space than most wired printers but isn''t all that small. It''s a lttle bulky and heavy for carrying around but the print quality is fine. Cost is a major drawback but if you want a small bluetooth or wifi, this is the way to go until something smaller and/or cheaper is available.Read Best Reviews of HP H470wbt Officejet Mobile Printer Here
The HP H470wbt Officejet Mobile Printer is a life saver. I am a commercial investment real estate broker and often need to redraft documents I carry the unit in my truck. One day recently I needed to redraft a document prior to the buyer leaving the country for a month, so I fired up the HP inserted paper and "viola" new documents. The color is good the black and white is nearly laser quality, the footprint is small and it''s easy to connect and use. I highly recommend this unit for small jobs and road warriors who need print capability is a small package.Want HP H470wbt Officejet Mobile Printer Discount?
I needed a small mobile printer suitable for taking to Court and setting up right at the counsel table. This way, when a judge wants to read a case, or receive a short pleading, we can bang it out right away rather than have some poor devil from my office hop in a car to drive it over to us as in former times. Also, since this printer is color, we can occasionally use it to knock out a photo or whatnot as an exhibit when needed. The fact that it has a pretty beefy battery adds to the versatility of this nice accessory. My H470wbt installed automatically and effortlessly on my Windows Vista notebook computer. It downloaded both the device driver and an update to the driver without prompting me one single time. It simply went about its business efficiently and unobtrusively. In fact, that is pretty much the theme of this friendly little device. It simply works and works well. It is very quiet too, so you won''t draw any complaints from even the crankiest host.
The unit comes with a snappy leather case for transporting to and from Court or wherever.
The unit is intuitive enough that I have yet to crack the manual, although if/when I utilize its bluetooth capacity I suppose I will need to do that.
HP has produced a winner. Highly recommendedGood things about this printer :
Print Quality : I''ve printed lots of graphics and photos from my PDA. They all look very good. Documents print quickly.
Interfaces : The printer comes with a BlueTooth adapter. This works well, plug it in and go. If you want wireless printing, the WiFi adapter costs about $90. I spent a decent amount of time with HP tech support getting my wireless configured. I think this could''ve been done better but tech support was very good. There is also a USB cable, printing from a laptop via USB works well. *Note: You cannot use WiFi and BlueTooth at the same time each requires an adapter and there is only one slot available for the adapters.
Portability : It''s light weight for a color printer, but it''s still heavy enough that I wouldn''t want to carry it far. It comes with a nice leather case that fits snugly on the printer.
Battery : the printer also comes with a rechargeable battery. I have not used it much. It fits into the back of the unit and does not stick out very far. If you are on the road a lot, this would be very convenient.
HP Solutions Center : This comes on the start up CD. It is a pain. Whenever you turn on your computer, it will take forever to start up because the HP software ties up your processor accessing your internet looking for updates. I went into start up processes on my PC and turned it off. It''s a bit slow starting up now.

Where do I start? This little bugger is AMAZING! I actually bought this for my son, because he got an iMac (being the Apple freak he is), and his printer was ailing. So I told him if he found one under $75 I''d get it. He did. He found the Canon i250.This little guy is so good! The quality is exceptional (and beautiful w/ Mac OS X font-handling.) and he can use it for everything, even printing photos. Now, I don''t recommend it for exclusively photos, but for the occasional one, it''s fine. Also, refills won''t break the bank with about $7 and $15 respectively. Printing time is short; very efficient and quick. Also, it comes with many features that are considered as ''extras'' with the others HE looked at. The only problem is it doesn''t come with a USB cable, and that''s all it''s compatible with. But that''s OK... I found a Belkin for about $5. I would recommend this to anyone, especially for document designers and offices for its ''bang for the buck''. Amzing features, reliability, efficiency/speed, and quality wrapped in a (very) tiny (perfect for portability.) package that won''t break the bank.

I love this printer. It has a small footprint, low cost ink, great print quality, fast print speed, and easy to use printer drivers. I also like the Paper In Tray which can be closed to cover the printer to keep dust out. However, it is much noiser than my old Canon S200 printer. It also takes a while for it to complete its warm-up routing before it actually starts printing. But when it does start printing it is fast. I also noticed that it only has one rubber wheel to feed paper into the printer unlike the S200 which had 2. Thus, there are times when the paper can get fed into the machine a little skewed especially if you are using very thin typing paper. But on the whole I still love this machine.Want Canon i250 Color Bubble Jet Printer Discount?
I''ve used many printers before from HP, Lexmark, Epson, and others. This printer stands alone as simple, sleek, sharp & clear, fast, small, easy-to-use, and pocket-friendly. Get it now and you won''t regret it.At its value price point, perhaps you can''t expect perfection from the Canon i250,(...) I find very few reasons to complain.First off, the quality of printing was surprising for a standard, 4 ink printer, even on digital photos. For photo prints, does it perform as well as, say, an HP Photosmart 7960 with its 8 inks (which is over 4x the cost)? Of course it doesn''t. But for routine use, even on the occasional photo, it''s really not bad.
When in its normal printing mode, it''s not a speed demon, but it does perform reasonably well, and is typical of printers in its class.
On the up side, consumables for this printer are remarkably affordable, providing somewhat of a disincentive to pursue refill kits. They also seem to have a fair and reasonable number of prints per cartridge change. But if you do choose to refill, I''ve found the print cartridges in the i250 refill easily and effectively, free of print-counter chips (so popular in Epson''s printers these days) that are such a pain.
And speaking of Epson, recent Epson inkjets I''ve used will end-up with clogged print nozzles if the printer sits unused even for only a couple of days. Not so here; I''ve gone weeks between prints, and it fires-up and works perfectly each time.
Also a plus is the printer''s compact size. While you still need to allow space for paper movement, when not in use, the top folds down and it''s small, shoebox size let''s you put it most anywhere.
Truly, at this price, almost anyone can afford one, and it''d be money well spent in my book.

OCR optical character recognition is done using Omnipage16 by Nuance (see more below). It works very well but it has an annoying quirk. Omnipage16 will CRASH if the printer is not ready (set to Scan/Remote PC/Twain) before you tell it to scan a page. In this case, you MUST ctrl/alt/delete, start Task Manager, and close Omnipage16 from the Application tab. Then switch to the Processes tab and End the 2 Twain processes you will find on the list. Finally restart Omnipage16.
I purchased this from a major office supply company whose name starts with "S". I will update this review if my opinion changes.
My old all-in-one is an HP Officejet Pro 7580. It worked great for 16 months until the genuine HP ink began to leak. Replacing the ink did no good. It was costing a fortune to keep buying HP ink so I began using generics, but generics are NOT at all water resistant. The ink jets have slowly gotten clogged over time until the color does not work anymore and even B&W is iffy. I am feed up with ink jets! You cannot beat the per page cost of lasers, but what to buy?
Spec Comparison:
I compared the following similarly priced monochrome laser all-in-one printers: Brother MFC7860, Cannon imageCLASS MF4880, Cannon imageCLASS MF4890, Samsung SCX-4729FW, and Okidata MB451w. All scan in color. All have auto duplex print, but ONLY Okidata and the Canon 4890 have duplex (double sided) copy and scan. Okidata has a Duty Cycle (a measure of durability) of 50,000 pages per month while all the others are rated about 10,000 pages. The Okidata is not flimsy and weighs 44 lbs while the others weigh about 22-25 lbs. Samsung and Cannon have toner cartridge integrated with the drum (replaced whenever you replace the toner), while Brother and Okidata have a separate drum. Brother and Samsung have annoying 2-line displays while Cannon has 5 lines with backlight. Okidata''s 3.5 inch display has variable lines, but about 5-6 lines with backlight AND a help function. Print speed for Okidata is 30 cpm single sided and 17 cpm duplex (duplex is much faster than the other printers). Time to first page (in idle) is 5 seconds, but requires 25 seconds warm-up from Power Save, and even longer from Sleep.
Okidata Customer support: Live support 24 hours/day!
I called Okidata tech support several times, once getting though immediately, and the other times on hold for a few minutes. They claim the normal wait time is 60 seconds and that they have live support 24 hours/day! You will reach an actual person located here in the US or Canada and they don''t use a script with canned answers. When I called, they seemed both helpful and friendly and were able to answer my questions or quickly email me with the answer. Warranty for the US and Canada is one year ON SITE.
User manuals (basic, advanced and wireless setup):
The manuals are detailed, generally clear and well illustrated and are available on line. Update: as other reviewers have noted, a physical copy of the manuals are not in the box. Cannon and Brother have equally good manuals, but Samsung has an annoying pictogram type manual.
Installation and setup: easy
I have a fairly recent HP computer with Win 7, but drivers are available on-line for Win 8. Unpack, add paper and you are ready to copy. Wireless setup (using manual wireless setup) is only a few steps and is similarly easy IF you know your SSID (network name), password and security type (mine is WPA). It took much longer to read through the extensive manuals to see if I wanted to change any of the default options (for instance change fax auto answer to manual answer).
Function.
For the most part, the display menu system is self explanatory and guides the user in a helpful way. Many menus have a displayed "?" which means you can press the "help" button for more information. I see no problems with the print quality and Toner Saver seems almost as good. It prints fairly quietly (55dB), it is very quiet in Power Save and silent in Sleep. Power Save is 18 watts while Sleep is 3 watts. You can set it to turn off after a set amount of time. Both single side and duplex copying and printing are all a snap. Scanning from a PC is a bit confusing until you realize you have to select Scan/Remote PC (confusingly not Network or Local) on the printer, and then go to the PC. Then the ActKey software works great to scan it works much like the software for my HP inkjet printer and the color scan result is just as good as HP. I have not faxed yet.
Cost to Own:
The Okidata comes with a 1000 page starter cartridge. There are no generics. There are generics for Brother, Samsung and Cannon, but I see a lot of online complaints concerning generic toner. The Okidata toner currently sells for about $40 and has a spec of 1500 pages. This seems to be a roughly similar per page cost to Cannon and Samsung, but a higher cost to that of Brother toner, but Brother laser printers generally cost more upfront. Okidata claims a life of about 25,000 pages for their drum. For what ever it is worth, Okidata claims their "lifetime total cost to own" is substantially less than Samsung and slightly less than Brother.
Update 2/11/13:
A few printer makers have Android apps that allow wireless printing from your phone. Although Okidata does not have such an app, the Google Play store has a free app called Cloud Print which allows wireless printing from your phone to any printer connected to your PC (on a WiFi network). It works well from my Samsung phone to both my wireless Okidata printer and my old wired HP inkjet. Smart Office by Picsel also works, but costs a few dollars.
Update 2/12/13:
OmniPage SE ver 16 OCR software (by Nuance) is on the installation CD as a bonus, but Nuance does not provide any support, so I imagine this could potentially be a problem. Installation of OmniPage from the CD on my Win 7 computer went OK, except a start icon was not generated. I reinstalled ("repaired") and I still had to search for OmniPage (C:\Program Files (x86)\ScanSoft\OmniPage16\OmniPage16.exe). Once I had OmniPage running, it requested to setup the scanner (Okidata must be set to Scan/Remote PC). OmniPage has options of plain text, formatted text, and "True Page" and all gave perfect output as a Microsoft Word file.

The first reviewer did such a comprehensive review that there''s little more for me to say. The print quality is excellent! I haven''t tried to hook it up to the network yet. I''m using a usb to my desktop which does not have wifi.To me, the setup was confusingly simple or should I say specious? I kept looking for a quick start booklet, but there was only a small print set of pictures. I finally found the dvd inside. It has the manual and quick start guide. Both of those are okay to follow. I had tried to install before reading thinking that the dvd would have detailed instructions but it did not. Everything is in the pdf''s. There''s a procedure to follow to connect the usb (not provided) and power cables. That has to be done before the drivers are installed. There''s nothing on the dvd to tell you to install them. There are little "i" icons next to the items in a list starting with software. You have to click the icons before stuff is saved from the dvd to your PC. I stumbled around a little thinking, "There must be more to it than this?", but copying and printing from the pc worked okay. I''m not used to installations being so easy.I didn''t contact Oki support at all.
This is like an office copy machine in size and it''s really heavy. It has a big footprint snd don''t even think about putting it on a shelf. I would say that it''s built pretty solid even if it is plastic. Isn''t everything? It''s here; It''s setup; It works. I bought for reliability and that''s what I hope I get. I''m damned tired of buing ink. I really don''t need color since we have other printers for that. I''m glad a friend convinced me that a laser is a lot cheaper than ink jets in the long run.Easy to use, easy to connect. Not real pleased with the "picture" install guide vs. a real manual, but you get it all on a CD.
