I really love these sticker sheets. What makes them great is that you can stick and remove with no problem. Previously, I was using shipping labels to print and place on items like glass and plastic. When you try to remove the printed label from the glass or plastic it was really hard and you would need some windex or alcohol to try and get the residue off. With these you can place them on practically anything and they will stick. If you need to remove them they are really easy to come off with no problem. No residue behind or anything. The last project we did was making custom labels for a wine bottle. Everything was printed and placed on the bottles. At the last minute we had to change to date on the labels. Luckily they were easy to take off. I can imagine the trouble I would have gone with shipping labels. Although the shipping labels are much cheaper and are like stickers, they are more permanent on whatever you place them. These special sticker papers are more thicker and are re positionable.

This is essentially a sheet of label paper. The entire 8.5 by 11" sheet is one giant sticker with the texture of Avery''s normal shipping labels. It takes ink extremely well, and my printed projects looked crisp and sharp.

For my first project, I used Word and added photos and text boxes to create a set of six individual labels. I cut them out myself and stuck them on and they looked great on my bottles of homemade liquor.

I might prefer it if there were an edge to this paper that made it easier to peel the sticker off the backing, at least around the sides. I found that I scruffled up the corner of my labels a tiny bit when trying to unstick them from the backing, but it did smooth out easily on my project.

If you want to make custom gift labels, photo stickers, or decorate kids'' binders and things, this would be enormous fun. You could also stick the paper onto those floppy sheets of magnet they sell at office stores to make your own gifts of photo magnets or magnets drawn by kids. I''ve been wishing to find something like this for years.

I bought this printer after a search for an ideal color laser printer for home. My wife needs to print in color for her cirriculum and I need to print on both sides of the page to save weight when sending out mailings. This printer does both and does them both well.

In case this is your first time to the rodeo, LED printers are like laser printers but instead of using a laser beam and a mirror there is a fixed array of LEDs which perform the same function. The claim is that this will reduce maintenance but I have never heard of anyone claiming "well, my laser printer was great, but then the laser died." or "well, if only the mirror assembly hadn''t broken in my laser printer..." no, usually it''s something to do with the drum, the fuser, constant jams, toner costs, etc. So I''m not sure LED printers are better than laser printers, but I took the plunge anyway.

So, about this printer. So it uses a grid of LEDs. In practice, the resolution is a little worse than a laser printer, but 600x1200 dpi is plenty respectable for print work. I haven''t even considered the resolution at any point in operating it.

The paper passes through a singular path, meaning that it doesn''t really change print speed based on whether it''s b/w or color, which is nice. I was surprised to print a full-page color photo in the same time it takes to print a text file. Generally speaking, that''s not common (try that on an inkjet!)

The printer comes with 1000-page toner cartridges, which are "starter" sized. Price per page is not significantly cheaper than an inkjet, after you factor in the costs of toner, but I''ve always found inkjet printers to be frustrating to deal with, for print speed, frequency of ink changes, dried cartridge nozzles, noisy feed/print mechanisms, and so on. So, this is a lot better than an inkjet in my book, but not for economy printing.

The duplexing is the standard "cheaper" method that requires the page to partially come out of the printer, then it sucks it back in for a second go-round. Nicer workgroup printers keep the document entirely internalized until it has printed on both sides. Still, it works fine and there''s plenty of room for it to do its thing and keep all the pages in order. It''s a great feature to have when you need it.

The color quality isn''t as good as an inkjet. If you want to print photos, you really would be better off simply ordering them online (just upload your jpegs, and so on) and getting them printed on $20,000+ professional printers for pennies. I think a 4x6 photo print is less than 10 cents, so buying an inkjet is just a waste of time in my book. Anyway, this printer is acceptable for all display/presentation work. It''s just not color accurate. They package software to attempt to correct the color, but this is unlikely to get it to "professional photo printer" levels anyway.

Black and white is great, as it should be. No complaints there.

No paper jams to report, and the whole printer seems easy to clear if there was a problem.

There is no wireless networking, only a 100mbit (no gigabit, but why would you need it?) ethernet port and a USB port.

Networking is simple and you can point a browser to the IP address to get status and even submit jobs manually if you don''t have a print driver installed (it lets you upload a pdf and print it out). Having a networked printer is great so you don''t need to have a computer on (though mine is on all the time anyway) if you want others to have access to printing.

Power consumption is like other laser printers. It''s significant when warming up, not too bad when printing, and very low when idle. Warm up time is only a few seconds, which is great.

The printer is a bit heavy/bulky, but it''s about the size of a larger all-in-one fax/copy/print machine (though it doesn''t fax/copy). It weighs about 55lbs.

Overall, I''d give it 5 stars. It fit my needs perfectly.

Unboxing this machine is a bit of a trial, not only because it masses around 50 lbs. The printed instructions are limited to internationalized sketches that barely match reality. Generally, pull any blue tape or orange chunks of plastic. Installing the toner cartridges is the next trial. The printer comes with the toners installed in the correct location and all you have to do is slide a lock/shutter. Sliding the locks takes a surprising amount of force, and with so much plastic, it is quite scary when it finally seems to break free and slam closed. I fully expected to break my printer before I''d even plugged it in.

On powering up, it automatically grabs a DHCP address off the network, and with little more than that, you''re printing! The front panel menu navigation is pretty straight forward, and you really only need to visit it once (more on that later). It speaks standard PCL and PostScript, so you may not even have to change the drivers in your computers to get it to work. I was able to use it as a drop-in replacement for a (hated) HP2550 Color LaserJet.

Although I haven''t tried the drivers, yet (I''m using basic PostScript) I am happy with the selection at least. Unlike many other devices, older and esoteric versions of Windows seem to be fully supported.

The printing is stunningly fast when compared with carousel printers like the HP2550. Even though this model comes with a relatively small amount of memory, it has no problems cranking out full-page graphics.

When the printer is awake, it can be pretty noisy. It doesn''t have the clunks and squeaks of the HP2550, just mostly fan noise. Fortunately, it can be configured to go to sleep pretty quickly, and once it is sleeping, it is completely silent. Unlike the 2550, it doesn''t wake up every 8 hours, either. It wakes up automatically when a print job comes in, and does so pretty quickly. That may not be true if you use the USB interface, though.

Laser printers should not be hooked up the UPS devices, and this machine is no different. The current draw on startup is enough to trigger nearby UPSs into brownout mode briefly.

The print quality is good. It manages to print intense colors with a somewhat glossy finish that compares remarkably well with photo printers. That seems to come at a cost of clarity, though, as some fine detail gets a little muddy.

Lastly, the network interface in this device is worth the entire cost of the printer. First of all, once you know the IP address of it, you never need to use the front panel again. Every single feature is easily controllable from the web interface. Beyond that, it has features that you would normally see in devices that cost thousands of dollars, including the ability to print-by-email, Internet Printing Protocol, the ability to print directly from an uploaded PDF file, SMNP managment, and so on.

So far, I''m very happy with this printer! One major problem, though: It ships with minuscule starter toner cartridges -maybe less than 500 pages worth -and toners are harder to find, since the Oki brand is somewhat uncommon. At least the toners don''t appear to be ''chipped'', and there''s a menu option (turned on by default, even) that will instruct the printer to continue even if it believes the cartridges are empty. I expect it will give me plenty of time to get replacements. This printer uses real toner-only cartridges, and not toner+drum units like other printers. Despite that, the cartridges are some of the most expensive I''ve ever seen. Figure in another $460 of toner costs once the starters go empty.

The Okidata C330dn color laser printer I recently received from Amazon is even faster than the C3200n I used for six years. Text is absolutely crisp and clear, music notation looks professional, and photos and other graphics are excellent.

PRO''s:

* Images are very SHARP (especially compared to inkjet printer text);

* This laser printer uses only a SINGLE DRUM, instead of the typical four (thus cutting repair costs significantly);

Its print quality in both black and color is head and shoulders above comparable HP printers I should know, the office I spend several days a week in has 2. For plain text, graphics, and CAD, the prints are some of the best I''ve seen.

It is more than fast enough for home office or small business printing, the duplex feature works like a charm, and it is very Mac friendly. Setup via USB or network was easy and fast as usual, don''t use the included CD. I don''t know why manufacturers pack those things with printers anymore. The multipurpose tray is easy to open and stow, and is spring loaded to keep the right tension against the pickup wheels. The whole device is built very well.

One thing to note the thing is huge! Make sure you look at the dimensions and weight, and have a plan for where it is going. Other than that, I would recommend it to anyone who does not need to print photos often.

I tested the printer/scanner on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.2.

Unpacking and setup was straightforward. The printer came with everything needed except a USB cable (pretty standard practice these days). I installed the drivers off of the CD. You can also install them via the Internet. Not much else is installed, and the installer gives you control over what it puts on your computer.

The controls are fairly intuitive, but you navigate via arrows. I touch screen would have been better.

There are 4 ink cartridges, black, yellow, red, blue. They are all the same size, even the black. They snap in easily. They are very expensive. A new set of the standard "high capacity" cartridges will set you back about $60 for OEM. "Extra High-capacity" cost even more. Wow! They better last a long time.

Printing worked well. I tested printing via USB, via Wi-Fi, and via Airprint from my phone. All worked flawlessly. Print quality was excellent. Double sided printing worked well.

Photo printing on glossy paper produced sharp prints, although they seemed a little dark. This can be tweaked.

Scanning was where this printer falls short. All methods of scanning produced frequent hangs and connection problems. This was true even when scanning via USB. The problem seems to be with initiating the scan from the printer''s control panel. When it didn''t hang or lose the connection (again even with USB!) it produced a file that contained nothing an empty JPEG.

The solution to the scanning woes was to initiate the scan form the computer using the program Image Capture. Using Image Capture allowed me to successfully scan via Wi-Fi and USB. Scanning via Wi-Fi is very slow. This is due to data transmission times. Scanning via USB was faster, but not as fast as my Canon Pixma MX860.

They printer''s copy function worked well. 2 sided copying worked great.

The two sided document feeder worked very well, but is noisy.

It has the options to print paper, such as sheets of graph paper, right from the control panel.

It has fax capabilities. I didn''t test them. I don''t have a landline.

In conclusion, I wish the scanner functions worked as well as the printer functions. If they did, this would be a 4 star product. Throw in cheaper ink for 5 stars.

The Airprint featured seemed unreliable, the phone didn''t always list the printer as available. The problem is that the phone can''t find the printer while the printer is in sleep mode. Wake up the printer, and it is there. This means you have to physically go to the printer to wake it up, which defeats some of the convenience of Airprinting from a phone.

It''s only been a couple months since I bought my Epson Artisan 837 printer. I got that to replace an HP photosmart printer. Nothing really wrong with the HP, but I wanted something that would do a better job on the photos, and the Artisan was really an outstanding model for that. But that left me without duplexing again, about the the only thing that the HP had that the Epson I bought didn''t. So when I saw this offered on the Vine program, I figured it was worth taking a shot on. I didn''t want to print photos on it, just to use it as a scanner and printer for normal office type documents.

I use a Mac laptop, and while I''m not a fanatic about it (and still use windows on it, and on all my other systems), this is one area that the mac just shines printing and scanning. The "It just works" motto of theirs always applies, and this was no different.

I got it unboxed, all the safety tape off, powered it up, and got the cartridges installed. Set up the wireless, and went to add it to my Mac. It already showed up as a nearby printer, I selected it, and was done. Took about 20 seconds to install, no CD or software needed (although the disc does have software for PC''s and Macs if you want to use it that offer some advanced options).

First thing I did was print off a simple three page text document, single spaced. And I was floored at how quickly it spit it out. And it looked great, very crisp lettering. So I took the same thing I just printed, threw it up in the document feeder for the scanner, and picked "scan" from my computer. Told it to use the ADF (which I almost always forget to do, so usually end up with a first scan of a blank white space when it scans from the flatbed that is empty...) and hit SCAN. Feeder worked fine, three pages fed in, and I got my single JPG image of all three pages stitched together. The quality of the scan was simply amazing. Light years better than my HP was. With my retina laptop screen, there was just about no difference looking at the paper right next to the image of the scan on my screen.

The screen, as other reviewers mentioned, is not a touch screen there''s an "OK" button surrounded by four directional buttons to maneuver around the on screen menus, and a text/numeric pad next to that like a normal phone keypad. They''re well lit, and the lighting changes based on feature (i.e. the numeric keypad doesn''t light up until you go to Fax or pick something that will use those buttons). Touch response is very good, no missed presses, and no doubled presses. One nice option during the setup was the 24 hour option. Being a veteran, I prefer the 24 hour format and use it wherever I can. Kudos to Epson for offering it as a choice, since many electronics don''t.

The paper tray is deeper than my other printers has a great capacity. And it has one of the better systems of locking paper sizes in the adjusters move easily and lock in place precisely. Feeder in the back for envelopes and such as needed.

Ink dries quickly, so even printing multi-page documents, I had no smearing. They do mention that if you use the duplexer and get smudging on the first side, there is an option in the setup for "drying time" to give it a bit of a pause during the process to prevent the smudges when printing on both sides. Nice thinking. Something else my HP didn''t do.

They claim it''s the fastest all in one I haven''t timed all printers in existence, but I can say based on every all-in-one printer I''ve ever used, nothing printed documents this fast.

I fired up the Epson software on my iPhone 5, and it found the printer immediately. Was even able to check for a firmware update from the phone. I like the IOS software since it gives you everything from IP, to MAC address, all the settings for the network, even the ink levels. And printing from Safari, right in the print options you can select single or double sided printing and number of copies quite useful.

But printing websites that have a lot of graphics does the usual "over-saturated feeling" paper if you''re just using regular paper, curls some and just feels WET. But that''s pretty normal for most ink jets unfortunately.

All in all, for the price it''s a great printer. Scans are very crisp and relatively quick, printing is blazingly fast for text. Wireless worked flawlessly, saw my B/G network as well as my N network, connected without any issues. Does all it claims, which is a nice change of pace.

I just installed my Epson WorkForce WF-3520 Wireless All-in-One. Thusfar, it has exceeded my expectations. The workmanship, design, quality, are all superior.

Setup was simple, and excellent instructions are provided. Four high-capacity ink cartridges are included! This is a real bonus compared to competitors.

The test page printed very well. I sent a FAX successfully. I also scanned a document with no problems whatsoever.

I particularly like the relatively small size and light weight. It is designed with the user in mind. The front panel even tilts upward to make it easier to see.

I have noticed less than perfect text alignment, but I believe it may be related to the extremely quick print speed.

Photos take much longer to print and are of average quality. If you are looking for high-quality photo printing, this may not be the perfect machine for you. However, if you are looking for high-efficiency features like an auto document feeder, an auto duplexer, and less expensive ink cartridges then this machine may be just what you are looking for.

Obviously, I have yet to confirm Epson''s claim of "New and Improved -2x the Durability." I hope the Epson WorkForce WF-3520 Wireless All-in-One lives up to this expectation. I have printer failures far too often in my small insurance agency. It has become a drain on my hardware budget.

All in all, I would highly recommend the Epson WorkForce WF-3520 Wireless All-in-One for a small office environment.

I had no idea the additional capabilities of printers these days until my old all-in-one broke. Besides the usual all-in-one features, this one has additional tricks:

You can scan to a cloud address, as well as to a computer or memory card, great for paperless record keeping.

This printer has an email address, so when you are away, you can email things to it which you want printed.

You can print lined and graph paper (though it is probably not cost effective, it could be handy in a pinch).

You can define an image to use as a watermark for personalized stationary.

It prints two-sided.

It will "autofit" if you are copying something small, automatically figuring out the enlargement percentage to fill the entire page.

It has an ID card mode so you can copy both front and back of an id card onto a single page (though it is a bit cranky about proper placement).

I have used this printer with a Mac and with an iPad, and the software seems to work just fine.

A potentially serious issue with this printer is that since the nozzles are part of the printer (rather than replaceable with each ink cartridge). While this makes the ink cartridges cheaper (since they don''t need to include nozzles and the nozzle control electronics), the nozzles can get clogged over time, and you need to blast out more ink in the cleaning operation. After printing out maybe 50+ pages, some of which included color graphics, I printed some photos, and already there were spots skipped where a nozzle was clogged. I am hoping this is just a fluke (another older epson printer I have hasn''t had any clogged yet) but if it occurs regularly I''m will downgrade my rating. [ETA: one month later, after using up the ink it came with and installing new ink cartridges, I printed some more photos, and by then whatever was clogging the nozzle had cleared itself.]

Another problem is that the documentation is lacking and/or wrong, and scattered. The printed guide that comes with it only scratches the surface of what it does. There is an online version of the manual that includes some of the interesting features which I mentioned above, but they are a series of hyperlinked paragraphs, so it isn''t easy to print out a full complete manual (or save a pdf of it to read paperlessly), and people who are not inclined to poke around might not discover some of these handy features at all. Additionally, to use the web and cloud features, you need to set that up, but the url given in the manual only took me to an ad for this "Epson Connect" feature. I finally used their online help system to find the correct dotcom page, EpsonConnect, where there is yet another 40 page manual about how to use these features.

I waited a little while to actually write my review on the Epson Workforce printer simply because I wanted to get a good feel for it, see how it works on multiple projects, and, a huge one for me, to see exactly how long the ink lasted. First of all, this is a pretty nice size printer that''s great for a business and office use. Not saying the regular Joe wouldn''t love it, but if all you are planning on doing is printing, you can find cheaper and smaller models that do the same thing. I use it mainly for personal/business use as I teach a Sunday school class that calls for a lot of different projects. From printing pictures, to flyers, worksheets, lessons, etc., the Epson printer was a fantastic choice! Upon removing the printer from the box, I could tell immediately that from the weight and feel of it that it is not cheaply made by any means. The only area that felt slightly cheap was the actual lid simply due to how the lid is attached to the printer. I can hear/feel the springs when I left it up. Otherwise, top notch construction!

As for printing areas, it has rear load for special items such as envelopes and legal paper, top load (I truly loved this!) that can hold up to 30 sheets of paper, and front load. When I unpacked everything there are four individual ink packages, one for blue, yellow, red, and black, the power cord, an installation disc. The first thing to do in the setup process is take all the tape off the printer, then hook the power cord up to the printer and outlet. Once I pressed the power button you simply read the directions on the massive 2.5 inch screen, and follow them! It was amazingly easy and the only hard part was waiting the five minutes for it to initialize! The touchscreen interface was a gem to use! The buttons are all large, and when you start the printer, each key that you would need to be using for a certain process (say entering the time), would light up. So only the number keys were lit while I entered the time. When it ask for you to place the ink inside, I was happy to note there would be no guessing! All ink areas are color marked for easy installation, and the ink cartridge area has a covered case that''s easy to open. The remainder of the installation process took seconds, and the only difficulty I had was in opening the sliders on the cassette. I ended up taking the whole thing out to see the end of paper.

Wifi was a breeze to set up! Just enter your password and your good to go! The green wifi light showed up as soon as I pressed enter, and this was even before I installed the cd on my computer. The actual copying process, again, is so very easy, and the touchscreen gives you so many options. With copy you can change the density for darker colors, print in black and white, or color with one simple touch on the screen. Scanning was a wonderful experience too, as I can scan to a memory card, scan to Cloud, to your computer, convert it to a PDF or even send it to email. There are just so many options! For photos, you can copy and restore the photo to its original glory, or color restoration for all those faded photos you might have. You can even add a watermark, print ruled papers, or set up a fax header! The actual printing is crazy fast! Took about two seconds to print a copy, which is great when you have a lot to print.

As for printing photos, I did find the printer lacking. When I did an 8 by 10 photo, you could see "roll" lines all over it. However, the ink has held up for quite a while! I''m still printing since I received it last month, and I''ve used nearly all the black ink so far, but a nice feature is that it will ask if you would like the printer to convert the other colors, to make black for you. So once you are out of a color, it will not shut down the whole printer until you replace it, which is great. This printer does everything I need it to do, the prints are high quality, and I am exceptionally pleased with it!

In contrast to the HP glossy advanced photo paper, this "art" paper

literally drinks ink. IF you choose the correct "type" of image,

the results are excellent, and the photo truly looks like a

painting. The thickness of the paper makes it particularly well

suited for framing and matting. I have to admit, that finding

an image that looks "better" on this paper vs. the photo paper

is difficult... it is a personal preference and stylistic issue.

The paper is expensive, the amount of ink it absorbs also makes

a print expensive, but for the "right" photo, it is worth the price.

In reading a couple of the reviews previously posted, I decided to add a clarification as it seems many people don''t understand these types of printers. This is a dye sublimation printer.

What''s that mean?

Well, first and foremost, it means it uses dye, not pigment. The paper is stained. It is not an inkjet. There is no ink. There are no jets. There is nothing wet to be sprayed on.

Instead, a roll of film contains an alternating portion of Yellow, Magenta, Cyan and a clear coat. The roll is similar to a fax machine ribbon. Pass 1 stains all the places that need to be yellow, be they very pale and dim or rich and deep. Pass 2 takes care of adding the Magenta dye. Pass 3 adds the Cyan dye. Finally, pass 4 applies a clear coat finish to ward off moisture, peanut butter from children''s fingers, UV light and so on.

One reviewer stated the photos looked like negatives. That''s probably due to a roll of film that is out of sync with the color that is supposed to be printed. That is, the printer was wanting to lay down the yellow dye, but the film was positioned at the cyan dye. All the colors are off, that way. It''s easy enough to resync the film if it should ever get out of whack, but unless the film cartridge itself was malfunctioning, there''s really no way for "User Error" to cause this.

What may seem at first a tedious task to constantly change the roll of film every time you run out of paper is in fact, in my opinion, a blessing. You can buy kits of 40, 80 or 160 prints (overall per-print cost drops rapidly when you buy larger kits). The kit comes with enough pre-cut paper and enough film to print the exact number of photos. When you run out of paper, you run out of film and vice-versa.

This truly reduces waste compared to inkjets, which let you know you didn''t have enough Cyan for that last print by totally ruining the print itself, and because of the waste, your overall costs go up. Plus you must keep spares of various ink cartridges, yellow usually being the one that is used most often and needs the most spare cartridges on hand.

Another issue I hear often that applies to these small printers (whether dye-sub or inkjet) is the LCD screen. It is claimed to be too small, too low resolution, etc. OK, so it is. But let''s keep its purpose in mind. It''s main purpose is to let you see the photo before printing it so you know you are printing the right one. Say you have 78 photos on your SD card, and somewhere around number 65 is the one you want to print. The LCD is there to help you ensure you are printing the correct one. This avoids waste by not forcing you to print photos 60 through 69 just to make sure you get the one you wanted.

On the Kodak (not always present on competitor models), the LCD also lets you do some very basic editing, such as rotation, cropping, zooming and a wee bit of built-in red eye reduction. Personally, I wouldn''t touch the built-in red eye reduction. It reduces red all over the photo, not just in eyes.

Use a computer and a capable software package for all graphics enhancements.

Final bit of bad news: It takes an 8+ color inkjet or a 6 color dye-sub printer to give you anything truly close to lab quality photos at home. The cheaper home printers that handle CMY colors can''t do Red, Green nor Blue. They can get close, but not quite there. Red will never be red. It will look a little on the violet side. Blue and Green will also be close, but not quite. Unless the printer also has a source of pure black dye/ink, it won''t get you crisp, dark, contrasting blacks, either. It will approach black, then things get murky and muddy. Deep ruby red next to indigo next to black will look like so much muck.

Lab photos are the best quality and, if you use the internet to upload them and have them delivered to a local retail store, they are much cheaper, too. This Kodak can actually be cheaper if you buy the 160 prints kit and do some serious shopping for the lowest price. The 40 and 80 print kits are far more expensive than lab photos.

If you want the absolute best quality photos at the absolute best price, use a lab (or spend 15 to 20 thousand on a lab quality printer). If you want the next best, get an 8+ color inkjet. It''s a problem to run out of one color in the middle of a print, and they are notorious for clogging their jets if left unused awhile, but they offer the overall best color capabilities. Your costs, including waste, will take that smile off your face, though.

Getting down to the under 250 dollar printers, though, (which means NOT having an 8+ color inkjet), the dye-sub printers are hands down cheaper to operate, less prone to handling damage and better pixilation than any inkjet. The Kodak series print the best approximations to true Red, Green and Blue than any other home dye-sub, in my opinion.

If you want to do your own photos at home or on the road, are willing to buy the 160 print kit, and want a small photo printer under 250 dollars that give the absolute best image that lasts the absolute longest under normal handling, the Kodak series is the way to go. The only decision for you is WHICH Kodak printer. If you own a Kodak EasyShare camera, you''d probably want a printer with a docking cradle. If you own a non-Kodak camera (with Print Bridge or a compatible memory card), the 500 is your best choice.

Added July 3, 2006:

NOTICE! The Kodak PP 500 will *not* accept any JPEG image over 3.5mb from your memory card when inserted into the memory card slot in the printer. Neither will it accept the DPOF printing instructions from a JPEG over 3.5mb from your PictBridge link. Yes, you *can* print *huge* JPEGs by either (1) sending them from your computer to the printer as a printable file, or (2) manually selecting the print you want from you PictBridge camera and requesting 1 full print.

OK, in simpler terms: If your camera takes photos where the resulting JPEG file is over 3.5mb, you loose the ability to:

1. Do anything at all with such photos directly from your memory card while the card is in the printer''s memory card slot. The printer will complain it''s an invalid file format. No view. No print. No rotate. No multi-ups. No nothing.

2. Use DPOF features of your camera for such files over PictBridge. You *can* navigate to the photo on your camera and request to print it over PictBride, but you can only request a full 4x6 photo (no 2-up, 4-up, etc.), and you can only request one copy. If you want 2 copies, wait for the first to print then request a 2nd copy.

KODAK really blew it on this limitation. With affordable cameras taking snaps in the 10+ megapixel range today, KODAK is really telling customers to use "antiquated" technology for their cameras in order to use the KODAK printer. It''s like Sony selling you a CD player that only plays the first 60 seconds of any song on your CDs. Not what you''d expect from Sony. Not what you''d expect from Kodak, either. VERY curious and VERY stupid.

However, I do stand in favor of the printer. The output quality beats any CMY+Overlay inkjet and is closer to true colors than similarly priced dye-subs. CMY+Overlay+Black inkjets will give you better blacks, but your operational costs will rise and waste will increase. Using the 160 print kits, the Kodak can be cheaper than lab prints (try Provantage as a source). While traveling, I convert my hi-res photos to a copy of lower resolution (using the copy/resize feature of my camera). That way, I can use the memory card and the LCD editing features if someone with me wants a quick snap. At home, I use my computer to print the original, higher quality photo.

Bought a Kodak 500 on line. The LCD never worked so I tried prints from my computer. They were washed out & did not come close to the Computer LCD screen image, Kodak instructed me to return the unit to New Jersey at my expense, evan though it never worked. The several hours spent on line with thier customer service & 17.00 for frieght were compensated with a sample film 10 pack worth 2.50 after I complained about the return freight. I recieved a replacement unit about a month later. It was used but "certified" by the repair center. I set it up & it gave a false empty ink pack message which constantly pops up, it will not work from my directly connected pict bridge equipped camera & the prints I ran from an inserted SD chip are good except the bottom of the pictures are blank with a ragged edge. I am now trying to get a refund & have been instructed to return this unit for repair, ALSO AT MY OWN EXPENSE!! stay clear, Kodak does not back these things for a good reason.

I purchased this printer from Amazon, printed some pictures I had on a card. The pictures were taken mostly on a Nikon Coolpix S1, though some were taken with Kodak cameras. I then tried printing from my Intel based Mac, didn''t work. (Note-call Kodak if you have an Intel Mac and want to print directly, they have a beta driver.) I downloaded a firmware update for the printer, 1.0.4, and after applying that firmware update the printer would no longer recognize the pictures taken on the Nikon camera.

I then purchased another one of these printers from a local store, and pulled the card out of the older/broken printer, inserted into the new printer and it could read/print all of the photos on the card. Thus proving to me that the firmware update was the root cause for my not being able to print those pictures.

The printer would show "Unrecognized file format" on the screen when I attempted to view the pictures. A Kodak V603 camera was able to view the pictures.

I love the printer for family shots, etc and plan to use it to print pictures to send to family. Just an FYI for those that have this printer and might want to print pictures from a camera other than a Kodak. I have a few friends who work at Kodak so I hope to bring this to the attention of the right people and get it resolved in a future firmware update. I realize mistakes do happen, but this one rendered my printer broken to me and I could not get the older firmware to downgrade. :(

Buy HP Q7964AN #02 Photo Value Pack Now

I stumbled upon this "HP Custom Photo Value Pack" about a year ago at my local store. For business purposes, I needed to print some bulk photos on the fly and on a limited budget. This package is a GREAT value! First of all, it includes Black AND colored ink cartridges along with 150 sheets of HP 4"x6" glossy photo paper. Currently, there is only ONE other HP Vivera colored ink cartridge combo set available for my printer model (that I know of). That other color combo pack ONLY brings the 5 assorted colored ink cartridges necessary for my printer to run properly. That other set ranges in price anywhere from 50 to 65 dollars. Here''s the kicker it DOESN''T even include the black ink! You have to buy that separately, which is another 15-20 bucks.

When I first saw this "Photo" Value Pack, I was almost sure that it was not the right size or type for MY printer. The price seemed a LOT lower than all the other ink cartridges for my machine. After looking at my old cartridges, asking an "ink specialist" at the store and verifying the info on the box... I realized that yes; indeed, this "Photo Value Pack" WAS going to work with my printer. Were the colored ink cartridges in this "Photo" pack smaller than the INDIVIDUAL color inks that I was normally buying? Was the black ink going to be a puny, not-quite-full cartridge... that would run out in a week or two? Surprisingly, the answer is No! ALL of the cartridges in this "Photo Value Pack" wound up lasting me JUST as long as the individual ones I''d been buying all of these years. As a bonus, this Pack also comes with 150 sheets of HP photo paper! I''ve seen similar packs of photo paper ALONE sell for 20 30 dollars, if not more.

I have an "HP Photosmart C6150 All-In-One Scanner, Printer & Fax". If you have one of these professional type HP scanner/printer/fax machines... you KNOW how expensive the ink is. And you also know that your machine recognizes off brand ink; it "knows" if you try to refill the empty cartridges (and the machine will reject them, or refuse to print). It''s definitely a smart way for HP to keep its clients on the hook to buy their inks. But with this "Photo Value Pack"... there IS a way to level the playing field (a tiny bit). Trust me, over the long run it will work out in your favor. Prior to finding this HP "Photo Value Pack", I''ve been content with buying my printer ink on an "As needed basis". If the printer is running low on a certain color, I''d run out and buy one individual cartridge. Sometimes if there was a GREAT deal, I''d stock up on the black ink which ranges from about $15 to 30 bucks per cartridge.

I think the labeling on the box intentionally implies that this package is specifically for photo printing projects only and consumers don''t immediately realize exactly what you get with this. Initially, I only bought this "Photo value pack" for a specific project, where I NEEDED to print lots of pics. But once that project was done, the ink cartridges were still cranking out my other documents. After that, I was a convert. This is the only combo pack of HP ink (that works with my machine) that offers all 5 color cartridges AND the larger black ink cartridge. This is now the ONLY way I purchase ink for my HP printer. The photo paper has now simply become an added bonus. I actually have about 3 or 4 unopened baggies with 150 sheets of the HP photo paper still inside.

Now, there IS one minor flaw... Over the past year of using this "Photo Value Pack" in place of purchasing my regular individual cartridges one-by-one... this situation has emerged. Maybe it''s just me, but I''m mentioning it anyway. It seems like the Dark Blue & Dark Pink cartridges (Cyan and Magenta I think) DO get used more than the LIGHT pink & LIGHT blue cartridges. After buying the "Photo Value Pack" about 7 or 8 times, I''ve wound up with 3 or 4 of the light pink and light blue cartridges still unopened. I''ll admit that I''ve had to run out and purchase a dark blue and a dark pink cartridge to kind of even it out. BUT! They have recently come out with these `Bonus'' sized individual color cartridges... so for $5 $7 each... I STILL consider it to be a better value over the long run. Now, with Amazon offering it at an even LOWER price than my local office supply store... I am very pleased. Sometimes, it''s the little things that make me happy. If you print a lot of color documents (or pictures) ... then this set will keep you stocked up with premium HP inks at a fraction of the cost and nice 4" x 6" glossy photo paper to boot!

This refurbished printer is classic HP works perfectly! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that because it''s a jillion pounds, the seller packaged it safely in that foam packaging that conforms to the shape of your item, but during shipping the bag that contained the hardened foam slit open, and lots of the "foam dust" was down inside the printer...had to take it apart and blow it out with canned air. BUT it''s still a great printer, and the "beginner cartridge" is still printing beautifully after a year and a half, and i print out LOTS of legal and loan documents. GET THIS INSTEAD OF A NEW ONE!!!

I ordered three of these printers for my workplace and we''ve been using them for over a year. Their performance has been flawless and they use toner sparingly. The body of the printer seems very rugged and they connect to our network easily. They have a web configuration interface that is password-protected and encrypted, something that is important if you need to have the printer accessible from outside your local network.

The only minor issue I''ve encountered is this: occasionally one of the printers pauses and won''t restart until I manually reset it. I haven''t determined if this is a user issue or if it''s a printer issue. I suspect it''s a user issue, so I wouldn''t let this detract from my review.

When installing the printer you may have to create a USB Virtual printer port if another printer was previously defined (not for printers connected to a parallel port).

HP seems to have a policy of "planned obsolescence" in manufacturing new printers that use new inkjet cartridges. Over time it becomes harder to quickly purchase replacement cartridges. If you bought a used printer you can refer to another HP printer manual for general advice. HP advises against refilling a cartridge but you may find doing this useful.

The HP840C User''s Guide has a Table of Contents that covers the topics in its 74 pages. Be sure to read the warnings in the manual about proper care of inkjet cartridges. Leaving them unused for many months may shorten their useful life. New cartridges have a plastic tape over the nozzles to prevent oxidation of the ink. One user had a problem with the separate power supply. It is probably not good practice to keep the printer powered on when not in use. Like other HP printers the paper path takes a U-turn in printing so the printer uses less desk space. Be sure the bottom tray is pushed against the printer body, a loose fit can cause printing problems. [I bought this at a local yard sale w/o power supply, truly a bargain.]

So we have had our printer for over 13 years. I have thought about getting a new one over the years to upgrade but I have not yet. It has just been so very, very reliable. We re-use paper and use recycled inkjet cartridges. So we have not treated it lightly. And it keeps on working great. It prints really quickly using the "Draft" print mode which I typically do since 90% of print jobs I do are not for presentation. However, when you need presentation quality and photos this printer also does them very well. Thank you Hewlett Packard for making such a great product.

It''s actually strange to review a product that is no longer being manufactured. Hp would be bankrupt if they would have kept up the quality of this printer with their new products. Mine is TWELVE years old and used almost everyday for basic tasks. Making their (HP) money on ink these days, we are getting ripped off with coded cartridges and ''cartridge empty'' messages and an average printer lifespan of about a couple of years. The HP DESKJET 840c is unbelievable durable and mine has also never required any repairs or such.

Aside from working with all linux distros and up to windows xp, this printer has gigantic cartridges that usually last me around 1/2 to 3/4 of a year. No code no message and of course, I only buy generic ink.

I love this machine so much, that last year bought another -brand new onevia 3rd party merchant in texas. Package was a bit faded but original and printer absolute pristine. I am a happy customer!

My old one lasted for 20+ years. Decided not to "upgrade" to newer model. Newest is not necessarily most reliable. Love that it works beautifully and costs less than so called "upgrades".

I love this printer, I have had it for 3-4 years and use it at a weekend school. I have printed about 60,0000 copies on it. Here is how to fix the 3 most common issues.

Have you noticed how the last page you get before you get the "Toner Life Ended" message is is perfectly clean and doesn''t seem to be lacking any toner? Because the cartridge is not really empty!

Here is a trick to make your cartridge print at least 1000 more copies..

Basically if light can pass through the 2 circular optical lenses on opposite sides of the cartridge due to less toner inside, the cartridge is jammed and you get the "Toner Life Ended" message.

When it happens, simply take the cartridge out, get some White Out, and paint the 2 circular optical lenses on opposite side of the cartridge.

Put it back in, print until it really runs out. If you are worried this will damage your cartridge, do not.. The printer had already indicated the cartridge was empty, so you have nothing to lose.

Paint the optical sensors, block the light, cartridge works!

When you get the Drum Life Ended message:

a. open the front cover

b. press the clear/back key

c. press 1 to reset

d. close the front cover.

You are done, it will count another 20,000 before warning you, but you may decide to replace earlier if not happy with quality of prints after some 10,000 more prints.

You can also refill each cartridge twice for about $10 each, just buy toner on eBay, for 7000 more copies.

This is an outstanding product.

It does it all. Copies, scans, and prints. It will print and copy doubled-sided documents. It will also scan double-sided documents through the document feeder as well.

I''m really impressed by the scanning software as it allows me to save my documents in a number of formats (Photoshop, jpg, bmp, and other files types, including PDF).

One thing that is very slightly misleading is the number of copies/prints you can get from a toner cartridge. When you see 3,500 (or 7,000 for the high-yield), that is only if you are using the toner saver mode (meaning you''re printing in either 300 or 600 dpi). The toner saver mode is a nice option, but the copies/prints tend to be light and not as easy to read. So if you are not using the toner saver mode, you can expect the number of copies/prints from a cartridge to be significantly less (I think I got somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 out of my standard yield cartridge). However, since there are numerous places to buy cartridges for discounted prices online, it isn''t that big of a deal to be getting a lower number. For instance, you can get a high-yield cartridge for about $45 and that will give anywhere from 3,500 to 4,000 copies/prints in the non-toner saver mode.

I definitely recommend this product. It is great for a small office (or even as a personal printer if you have a need for printing/copying double sided documents and will do a fair number of impressions [500 at minimum] per month).

As a public high school teacher, making copies at school takes a long time--the waiting lines and the non-collating abilities of the school''s old machines were problematic. I bought this multifunction machine to function strictly as a copier for my house. After wasting hours of time photocopying and collating multi-page short stories and assignments, I thought that this machine would be money well spent considering the time I would save.

The copying functions are stellar--it is relatively fast and the high-yield toner is set at a reasonable price. Because I live in a house with 5 other teachers, the expenses surrounding the machine are relatively low.

However, the printer has a propensity to curl copies upwards--even at settings and paper recommended by the manufacturer. Basically, if you have any ambitions to set up a copying and job and let it run without monitoring it, you should look at another option. After about 30 or 40 pages, the curled pages begin to run into the output pages, causing some pretty severe paper jams. Because of this paper curling, I find myself constantly monitoring the machine so the curled paper doesn''t get in the way.

A second problem is that the machine only comes with 32MB of RAM...so while the loading slot can hold up to 50 pages, it can only do 8 pages at a time before the memory runs out. Trying to buy new RAM is also a hassle because the suggested manufacturer provided in the manual changed their product codes so it is difficult to determine if the RAM you buy will match.

Do I regret buying this machine? No, not at all--I have saved hours of paper-sorting time because of the purchase. However, if I were to go back and choose a machine again, I might consider buying something with less problems than this one.

My 8065 arrived a few days ago. I bought it to replace my inkjet printer, and a scanner. I am happy with:

* installation: easy, for such a complex device. The installer asked all the right questions, and just worked on all my PCs.

* print quality: great. My old cheapo laser had trouble with printing Google maps, that''s why I got the inkjet. I am not sure why, but the drivers in this printer turn out easily legible maps.

And the sole point of unhappiness is:

* scanner: lots of banding while scanning color photos. The photo scans are unusable, even my kid looks wrinkled. I''ll have to keep my old scanner for an occasional photo scan.

Overall, happy with the purchase, and am looking forward to not replacing all those ink cartridges.

I''ve used this copier/printer for one year and am very happy with it. We share it over network among the whole family, between one Mac and several PCs. The functionality that comes at such a low price is amazing. I am especially fond of its automatic scanner sheet feeder which is build very solidly. I do lot of scanning, and it still has to miss a page.

After one year of using this product I can only regret that I haven''t bought it earlier. My previous multi-functional printer/scanners (HP) were a disappointment. Using this product, on the other hand, is a pleasure.
