The main attraction of this entry level printer is its small footprint. It''s not as small (or costly) as a portable printer, but it doesn''t take as much desk space as most other photo inkjet printers. It doesn''t have a paper tray to catch prints. This helps keep the footprint small, but you do have to watch that letter size prints don''t run into anything else on the table and squish up.

The photo quality is decent but sometimes produces flat looking images like my portable PIXMA iP90v. You can''t expect more from and printer that uses only one three-color and one black cartridges.

The printers runs a tad noisy and, in my experience thus far, uses up colored ink too quickly. The print speed is satisfactory. Black and white text prints out nice as do non-continuous tone graphics.

If you''re looking for a low-cost, frills-free photo printer that doesn''t take too much space, the 2702 is a good choice. If you buy it, make sure to get the extra large capacity ink cartridges when it''s time to order new ones.

btw, I''ve owned a number of Canon printers and am a big fan of them. If photo quality is your top priority, get a printer with more ink colors. Higher priced printers usually have additional features.

So far, this printer works great. I set it up tonight and it was very easy. I''ve already printed out 5 photos and a dozen pages of text all look great. The color on the photos is natural and crisp, much better than some of the other photo printers I''ve had. I don''t know how long the ink that came with the printer will last so I''ve already purchased additional ink. Ink prices seem a little lower than other makes of printers I''ve had. I found high capacity ink cartridges for about $16 $18. But I don''t know how many pages I will be able to print from a "high capacity" cartridge compared to the regular ones.

Update March 2011. This printer is still working great. I dropped my laptop on it and broke off the plastic paper guide and it is still working great. Last night I spilled a 1/2 glass of water on it, and it''s still working. (I need to move this printer from the floor) I''ve changed the ink cartridge once. I can''t believe that an inexpensive printer like this is continuing to work so well.

I hate printers. They''re usually so finicky and uncooperative that they drive me nuts. When my last one failed on me, I decided I would buy a "cheapo" and just throw it away and get another when the time came. I was pleasantly surprised by this under $50.00 printer. Easy to use, good basic product. It does take a little bit of time to "set itself" up before it prints making all sorts of movements and sounds before the first copy comes out. But when it does start to print, it is really quite a fast print. I can''t complain about the print quality either. I''d buy it again.

WE have these printers and are fairly happy with them. They print

a fairly nice photo and do text excellently. What we like more was

that this printer has a OPTION to print only Black without the use

of the Color Cartridge in case you are low or out of it (found in the

Maintenance section under "ink cartridges settings" ). And this

a good idea because this printer loves eating Color ink up quickly.

We printed 50 color pages under the "standard" level until it ran out

of Color ink (this was using the extra long life cartridge). Black seems

to last longer. Like most reviewers have said, this printer is small and

takes up little room and has no paper output tray. It is simple to install

and gives you the option to just install the driver and bypass all the

bloat ware.

Also, this printer is noisy, but has a option to operate under "quiet

mode". In addition, the printer has auto power (turn on auto and turn off

power if their is no activity after a chosen period of time.. (most

Canon models do). We have switched to Canon printers after having

the final straw with Epson''s junk.

" You get what you pay for" so very true,

While the printer may have worked, I will never know since the supplied software and instructions were totally useless.

Software does not have an auto install, you have to install through Windows control panel and Windows does not find the driver no matter what directory you point to. User manual on the disc contains only tech specs. The paper instructions are in Chinese and there is no tech support phone number or website. There is no warranty paperwork packed with the printer, so it looks like Loftek does not care wether you can get it to work or not. I returned the printer (thank you amazon for your great return policy) and bought the Epson. The Epson installed the first time I tried and is woking great!

While this printer may not be great for a production environment with heavy use it definitely gets the job done, for what I need it for. Given that once you get it installed it functions like a normal windows printer no changing is needed to support other POS printers in a given application other then specifics such as paper size.

FYI Installing was a bit of a PITA but I powered through it so I included directions

Yes really install the 88 drivers despite this being a 58 printer.

Canon definitely rocks in this department and setting up the MX892 over my MX860 for wireless was even simpler.

Faxing:

Super simple. Plug in your phone line, and it''s pretty much ready to fax

There''s also quite a few settings (tone/pulse/phone priority/machine name & number registration, etc)

But right out of the box you can plug it in & it''ll fax (I tried it. It worked!)

Printing:

It prints quicker than my MX860 does

The ink tanks look a little smaller and if it''s like the 860 I''m sure it''ll eat through them like water

I notice the ink will evaporate if you don''t use it (I don''t print a lot & the ink just "disappears") I swear it''s alcohol based

I bought off-brand ink for the 860 & never had a problem, I''m sure this will be the same

Copying:

Worked perfect!

Lift the lid, put something on the copy glass, select the # of copies, and press copy

Out comes your copy.

It has lots of bells & whistles (enlarge/shrink/scan to duplex, etc), but I just use it as a basic copier and it works great

Software:

Canon''s printing software has to be some of the best out there. I''ve tried lots of others and I''m hooked on Canon

Super easy install, super easy to use, and it "just works!" Every time!

No hoky monkey business to scan or print or fax, just easy to use buttons to get you moving

There''s some extra''s in there (calendars, photo layouts, etc). I printed a calendar & it did pretty well

I''d much rather have a machine that I can actually use & have to replace it every few years than fight & grumble with a "reliable" machine that won''t do what I need it for

Thoughts:

If you''re looking for an easy to set up, easy to use Multi-function printer, then look no farther. Setup couldn''t be simpler and it just works. Every time!

The Canon MFP''s do drink ink like it''s going out of style (my MX860 actually EVAPORATED ink), so just use off-brand ink & call it good.

The machine is smaller than the Epson Workforce or the HP 8600 series (shorter) although it takes up just about as big of a footprint. But I like not having to use a stool to use the top of it

Time will tell how well this one will hold out, hopefully longer than the MX860, but I''m happy with it so far.

With 5 computers running at any given time in the house, but usually scanning to just one repeatedly (Win7 via VMWare on the iMac), it''s been a godsend to be able to just walk up to the machine, press SCAN, and it scans to the right machine!

Faxing:

Again, flawless...and FAST!!!

From a cold boot, the machine is ready to fax in about 15-20 seconds

From the machine booted, it''s almost instant

Load the document feeder, press FAX, enter the number & press Black & White or Color and away it goes!

Wireless:

Rock solid! It''s never left the network

My MX860 would sometimes disappear from the network & come back (wasn''t for long, but it was annoying sometimes), this one NEVER leaves the network and if you have to reboot it, it finds the network FAST!!!

I actually shot about 20+ minutes worth of footage for this review, and had to seriously trim it down to fit inside of Amazon''s size requirements. So, a lot of the footage of me walking you through the setup steps had to be sacrificed. I was especially pained to have to trim the detailed steps I filmed of getting the Google Cloud Print functions up and running. So, if you have questions for me about setup, especially about getting the Google Cloud Print up and running, leave them in the comments, and I will do my best to answer them. The short of it is, go download the latest firmware exe from the Canon support page for the printer, plug in a USB cable to the printer and your computer, double click the exe, open the folder it creates, and run the update program in there. After that, run the setup process from the "Web" menu, and tell it to register a Google Cloud Print account, it will print out a paper which has a QR code and a URL (you can use either/or) to link the printer with your Google account. After that, you can print from Google services that support doing so, such as the Google Cloud Drive.

Overall, this is a very good printer. We had previously purchased the MG6120 and that was working very well for us. This new one uses the same ink cartridges that the 6120 did, so that is nice. I hate it when the printer companies change which cartridges you have to get, with each new model. The main differences between the MX892, and our old model, is the MX892 has a fax function (which I will never use), and it supports printing "from the cloud" -which is the same thing as saying "from the internet" (honestly, marketing people give me headaches >.

As a teacher, the convenience of sticking a book on the flatbed, pressing 25, and then hitting the green button, and having it print out 25 copies very quickly while I shave is... invaluable. I don''t experience paper jams, as I have with every other printer I, or my family members, have owned. The scanner integrates seemlessly with WinXP. Just a few minutes ago, I stuck on a cookbook, clicked "My Computer" in WinXP, then double clicked on the Brother icon, and it started the scanner wizard. I chose "greyscale image," it scanned it in maybe fifteen seconds, and then I clicked on "send to email" and I sent off the recipe to a friend of mine. The entire process took me about two minutes. It''s not a scanner I''d use for archiving my photo collection, but it is good enough for most uses, and can copy a photo to my photo printer for a decent job.

I''ve been extremely happy with it. Cheap to operate for copying and printing, inexpensive toner with easy replacement, no printer jams. Two years service, and no decrease in quality. The "toner low" light does come on too early, but I just keep printing, usually a couple of hundred more pages, until I see fading, before I actually replace the toner. While this at first annoyed me, now I use the light as the "go order some toner so you have it around" light.

I work for a sole practitioner attorney. When the HP LaserJet III finally died at the office, we tried running the office on an Epson ink jet printer for several days. As that was completely inadequate, we looked around for an inexpensive laserprinter which would handle a duty cycle of about 3,000 pages per month. We decided on the DCP-1000 because it had a built in copier with sheet feeder, was reasonably fast, and was inexpensive. We have had it for about half a year, and the only thing I really dislike about the unit is the way it spits paper out the front without an adequate recepticle.

The printer is excellent for the size of our projects, which tend to be less than 30 pages, and has stood up to the paper output of our office, which includes four networked workstations. It is also nice to have a copier with a sheet feeder for small jobs so we don''t have to run to the copier half way across the building we work in. The one drawback with the copier is that the automatic sheet-feed occasionally misfeeds, crumpling up the sheet to be copied.

Several reviewers have commented about the price of the replacement drums and the speed with which they and the toner cartridges are used up. The fact is that the toner refills are only about $30, which is less than half the price of the cartridges used on almost any other laser printer. So, the fact that you have to spend $120 on a drum every 20K copies or so is the trade-off. This means it is no more expensive per copy than just about any other laser printer.

It would cost at least an extra $150 to purchase any other printer/copier and get the same functionality. For around $300, you get print quality which is good enough to hand to a judge, a copier with a multisheet feeder which makes good 600 dpi quality copies, and a color scanner which is adequate for occasional use and for OCR. This makes it a very cost effective unit for a home or small office. The unit easily pays for itself very quickly. The owner of the building where we lease our office has a central copier. He charges 5 cents per copy made on the central copier. (Kinko''s charges about 9 cents per copy!) The marginal cost with the Brother is about 2 cents per copy. Just on the difference in cost of copies, this unit paid for itself in less than 10,000 copies.

As an update, after a little more than a year and close to 100,000 pages printed, the sheet feeder broke. (We replaced the drum 4 times.) Rather than have it repaired, we purchased a Brother MFC-8440 because, while we were happy with the product, we wanted a heavier duty, faster machine with a built in fax. I have the DCP-1000 at home, and anticipte getting it repaired.

Afterthought: Brother includes ScanSoft PaperPort and OmniPage Pro with the printer. Paperport is a scanning and document management application which will allow you to scan, print, organize, view and save copies of documents in PDF format. It interfaces with most common document handling and word processing software. You can drop and drag the thumbnail of a scanned document into an icon of the wordprocessor or other document handling program and it will automatically convert the document to text or other graphic format for editing, emailing or viewing. It is a bit slow to load, but it is a wonderful visual document and software interface. Unfortunately, the version supplied by Brother does not save directly to PDF format, but instead uses a proprietary format. It is also virtually impossible to uninstall. I recommend downloading the printer drivers from Brother and purchasing a newer version of Paperport.

Finally a low cost laser copying solution. I purchased this machine when it first arived a few months ago and have been very pleased. Not only does it copy, but it is a 10ppm laser printer and color scanner. Not bad for the price. This little guy sits right on my file cabinet and saves me countless trips to the larger copy machine. I have a 2004 Compaq, Windows Home XP system. Set up was accomplished seemlessly the first time with the CD-ROM. This is the way it''s supposed to happen. I opened the box, plugged the system into the computer with the USB, place the CD-ROM and followed the prompts and then set the printer as my default from the start menu and wow beautiful fast prints emerge from my command. The process took less than 12 minutes. It was so easy I did not have time to finish reading the instructions. I don''t know where the other people writing these threads got their problems. The speed may not be the fastest on the market by specs, but the prints come out almost as fast as you can deal with them & as fast as the printers at work costing 10 times as much. The copy quality & ease are great and will not

disappoint you.

The initial cost & long-term cost are low. Over the next 5 years, my high quality prints will be less than $0.02 each including the cost of the printer.

Who needs a fax anymore. All you get from faxing is poor quality resolution. With email and the built in scanner all the functions that you would ever need for faxing is accomplished right here & you have the documents stored in your emials & not in a drawer. Also you don''t need 2 phone lines or have the fax continually mess up your primary line. If I had a fax feature, I would not even hook it up, so why pay for a feature you don''t want & could compicate the picture.

All the other machines of this quality are more exspensive to purchase and operate, are larger in size & are more complicated to run. I don''t know how a home or small business could go wrong with this printer. A value priced home run.

I can get really cheap compatible toner on the internet for it, so the cost of using it is therefore....cheap! Haven''t had any problems with the drum. But the way I see it, I''m saving a lot with the cheap toner, so when the drum goes out, oh well. The machine functions really nicely. I love the document feeder. I''ve had this printer for a couple years now. I have no complaints. I does what it says it will do. Very easy to setup.

We use it to copy, scan, print and email documents. Other than cartridge replacements, we have not had to make any repairs. This is a printer for higher volume than home use. As such, the larger tray option is a must. I would buy it again, and have recommended it to a friends.

Arrived by FedEx in a few days. When I opened it, I saw the back panel partially opened and one of the hinges popped off. I was able to pop the hinge back in. This led me to believe FedEx somehow mishandled the box. So I set it up and connect to my network on Friday evening, but the ADF sensor is malfunctioning, probably from the mishandling during transport.

I call Lexmark on Saturday, and they set me up with a technician, who came and replaced the sensor on Tuesday. Sometimes, there is a bit of waiting on the phone, but you get through quickly most of the time, and you get to speak with a well-spoken rep. No strange accents, good professional English. So 5 stars for excellent customer service.

Now I also had trouble setting up the Scan-to-eMail and Scan-to-FTP functions on the network. This printer isn''t that easy to configure and it will require some networking know-hows.

I''ve a Windows SBS 2011 network with both Macs and PCs. My tech support rep was very knowledgeable, professional, and used perfect English. She connected directly to a Mac client on my network, controlled the both the Mac and the Lexmark printer panel remotely (it was almost futuristic, because I can see her controlling and configuring the printer on the printer''s large touchscreen). After fixing my SMTP configuration, she even went to troubleshoot my NAS (network attached storage) FTP server. She opened up Mac/UNIX terminals and entered a bunch of UNIX commands, and even figured out the problem on my Netgear ReadyNAS, which is an non-Lexmark equipment. I''m speechless. 5++ stars for technical support.

I''m so glad that I chose Lexmark. The touchscreen is responsive, informative, and makes everything much easier to use. It is a beautiful looking machine as well. I really like this printer. I don''t think you''ll regret it if you went with this.

So Far really like the printer, good quality. I was disappointed a little in that it has one tray, thought it had two(second area for paper is not a tray but side open panel area. Also that it had built in scanner and would be listed on display panel as an option and found nothing with paper about it until I called Lexmark. U have to have them download software to access scanning. I did it it works great. Looking forward to using the printer and all of its functions..,,Very easy set up and like the fact I paid only about 40% off list.

There is a lot of misinformation going around about Zebra printers. I like many others have had a lot of difficulties trying to get several models of these little Zebra printers to work with a number of selling websites including PayPal USPS & UPS shipping labels, and also the UPS shipping website and the USPS site.

I called UPS and they told me that a number of of these printers won''t work on their shipping website. They also told me that the Zebra ZP-450 CTP will only work with Worldship, a software package provided by UPS. The ZP-450 CTP printer won''t work on their shipping website or with PayPal labels.

NOTE. The UPS website is not Worldship.

Though the Worldship software might be free, PayPal UPS accounts are blocked from working on Worldship. You would have to open a new UPS account. Since most of us are not large corporations, the shipping costs will be higher than through PayPal.

Also note. PayPal is getting rid of UPS and is going with FedEx. In May 2013, you will no longer be able to print UPS labels from eBay PayPal.

We received this label printer with our Dell/UPS workstation. We''ve had it for about six months, use it daily, and it just works away. I don''t have to think about it, which to me means its doing its job perfectly. The Dell we''re using was built specifically for UPS shipping, so that''s probably why we haven''t had any USB or driver issues. YMMV.

This printer does not work on Mac''s and I couldn''t get it to work with USPS or eBay. After contacting Zebra they said it only works with UPS on a windows PC.

First, these were designed to be UPS only (specifically for worldship) printers and as such setup for other uses can be a little tricky. Depending on who you buy them from, the seller will go out of their way to help (ours did). Our biggest complaint is that when turning on, or switching out label stock the unit will go through four to six labels to calibrate spacing. With the specific unit we have print quality is highly variable from label to label, and stock to stock. That may simply be due to age (ours was refurbished) we don''t know. Overall, we would recommend getting one of these only if they are the only option in your budget range. All that said, if you have a lot of work to do, and have really good quality labels, it prints as fast as you can work, if not faster.

Not perfect, but I''m very pleased overall. You are paying a premium to have a truly all-in-one device, but the M475dw is a well rounded duplex color laser MFP, and a strong competitor in its class. You do get some very nice features not available in less expensive printers. Build quality is generally very good but some of the internals show signs of a few cut corners.

Pros:

Extremely simple install. Place it on your table, remove the protective tape and film, and power it on. The printer automatically registers itself on the network and you can download the drivers direct from its web interface no CDs required.

Print quality is better than expected. Brochures print in vivid colors and negligable banding. Photos are a bit on the soft side, but better than expected color gradience provides overall impressive results for a laser printer of this class.

HP''s ePrint service is superb, and allows printing via the internet, including from smart phones and via a large selection of free subscription publications (standard forms, daily news digests, comics, etc).

Cons (only the last item is of legitimate concern):

Color saturation is consistent but the substrate fuses to a fairly flat, almost blotchy texture. In the end, the flat surface is better for photos and readability, but text and clipart graphics lack the ''pizzaz'' of a high gloss (embossing) toner.

print speed is slower than expected. I haven''t clocked it but I estimate around 12-14 PPM not the advertised 21 PPM.

Extremely loud and annoying electronic whine when the system goes into sleep mode. I may someday call support about that but my immediate response was to just disable sleep mode problem solved.

scan quality is OK (600 dpi hardware, 1200 dpi interpolated), but "copy" quality is mediocre at best (300 dpi and very soft)

touch screen is on a swivel mount and seems sturdy for what it is, but wasn''t designed to stand up to the riggers of a family room with energetic kids.

As a simplified cost projection, based on 2.6K page yield for the color toner, 4 cartridges (CMYK), and list price $114 per cartridge, that''s approximately 17.5 cents per page. That''s on the high end for a color laser, but that''s why discount aftermarket toner suppliers exist.

mixed build quality; the only point of legitimate concern. External components appear sturdy, but some of the internal components include some very thin plastic pieces. It should be fine as long as you''re not opening the case several times each day, but if you''re in a high volume operation and performing a lot of maintenance this could become an issue.

I run a business that requires me to print both legal and letter sized documents in each print job, so I researched dual tray printers and decided on the HP LaserJet Pro 475dw with the optional second drawer. The printer itself works extremely well. Unfortunately, the page feeder for the scanner is unreliable and jams frequently. It doesn''t matter if it''s loaded with three sheets of paper or 30, it will start scanning and more often than not jam while feeding pages through the scanner. When scanning multiple pages, it will cancel the scan job when a jam occurs (instead of allowing you to fix the jam and resuming scanning). Also, the scanner frequently feeds pages in askew, so they don''t scan straight. I''ve been using Brother MFC machines for the past eight years and never had as many scanning problems with those machines as I do with this new HP. I love the printer, but am sorely disappointed with the scanning feature. If you need to scan large sets of documents, I encourage you to consider a Brother MFC machine, or a separate page scanner.

I have had the printer for 3 weeks now, and not have had any major issues. I use the printer with a iMac (mountain lion), Macbook (lion), iPhone 3, Ipad2 and new Ipad. I have not tested with windows or linux.

Why not 5 stars?

1) many people discount 5 star ratings as fake

2) online documentation states there is an email scan option, but it''s not actually present (at least for Mountain Lion)

3) printer reports out of paper when there is still some paper remaining in tray. Maybe this can be calibrated, but I haven''t figured out how, yet.

I could not find this model in any of the local office supply stores, but i did test several printers using the copy function. By far, I found the HP printers produced a better image (also tried brother, cannon, and one other brand that i can''t recall). I ordered this model as I liked the LJ Pro 300, and this is an updated version. Setup was easy and only took about 15 minutes, but did require a USB connection until the wireless was setup. My wife needs color printing for work, and both her and I have used the printer almost daily since purchase with no issues. I have printed using the mobile devices listed above with no problems, either. I would recommend this to a Mac user without hesitation. Apple software update contains drivers and/or you can download from HP (needed for Mountain Lion when I purchased, but I think apple is now up to date with the latest versions)

This printer does have a print from anywhere feature (basically web based printing) which I have not tested, as I don''t have a need for this.

Cons:

Size: This is not a desktop printer; I would say it''s medium size, but you should check the dimensions to make sure you have space. We have a home office, so it''s not an issue.

Scanning: I have scanned both from the HP Scan utility and Preview App, both work fine, but are slow. I suspect speed is a factor of scanning over wireless, but have not compared with USB scanning.

Price: Not an inexpensive printer, but given it''s features and quality, no complaints.

Have had this multi function printer for about 4 weeks and have nothing but good things to say about it. It replaces both a really old HP4 black and white laser and a Xerox Phaser that uses the waxy ink chunks to produce very professional color images..until the ink jets clog up, (and the repair costs exceeds the cost of a new printer).

Color and b/w copies on this HP MFP are so close to the original that I can''t tell the difference, the feeder works without a hitch, and the scanner works well enough to use for depositing checks, (which considering some of the finicky OCR programs banks use for this purpose is saying something). The print function software is not overly complex but does provide options for adjusting color pallate, resolution, paper size, etc. Speed is as advertised which compared to my old HP4 is quick. I print a number of pictures for brochures which can be memory intensive so the first thing I did after taking delivery and setting it up was to buy the additional 256MB Memory for HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color MFP M475 Printer (PARTS-QUICK BRAND). Installation was a breeze; remove the plastic side door on the printer and snap it in (one dimm only). You will need to get into the printers set up to make sure it recognizes the additional memory but the large manual explains this procedure very well.

Set up was a breeze (through a wired network connection) on both my computers, running Windows 7 and XP (UPDATE, and on Windows 8). Once a network connection has been made, obtain the printers IP address from the printers LCD control pannel. "At the computer, open a web browser and type the IP address in the URL address bar to access the HP Embedded Web Server. Click the HP Smart Install tab and follow the onscreen instructions" (from the install manual).

There are at least a couple of features I don''t use like the print anywhere app for iPhones and the fax so I can''t address the functionality of these features but as Multi Funtion Duplex Printer that copies, and prints and scans through a network it may be my last printer.

Caveat: it''s not a photo printer and doesn''t advertise itself as one, though images are very good. While all functions work and the printer appears to be built well, I do not recommend it for use in a busy office environment...it just doesn''t exude a ''kick me, I can take it'' feel. Ex: the auto feeder is mechanically light weight when compared to a stand alone machine. But then again, I didn''t pay $3k (or more) for it either. In a small or home office where use can be controlled and where people tend to take care of their machines it should last forever.

I will continue to update this review as time goes on...4 weeks ownership isn''t really long enough for me to judge durability which in my experience with printers has been an issue, good and bad.

6 months and still works like new. Major issue: it seems to go through ink really quickly. HP sells a higher capacity black ink cartridge and I will be buying these from now on. Cartridge change out is very simple and I like how HP provide a pre-paid UPS label to send back the spent cartridge.

Wireless works great, scan to computer works great and best of all works to perfection with my iMac OSX 10.8.2. I couldn''t ask for a better printer that is used regularly and heavily daily for so many things. Great paper feed for faxing. Has not grabbed more than 1 sheet at a time. This is definitely worth the little extra it costs over similar products costing a few hundred dollars less. I upgraded from both a previous Brother & HP to be fully functional with my new iMac software and couldn''t be happier. This unit is easy to use and is by far a huge upgrade over my previous printers that were $150.00 less when I bought them new. Setup was simple and easy and I was printing with full printer functionality within minutes of plugging it in. I recommend taking the plunge for a few hundred dollars more for this All In One over the cheaper similar models. You won''t be disappointed.

In my company, at times need to take many passport pictures and this Fuji IP-10 System has worked well. It is the simple, and small passport camera connected by cable to the printer. The printer is very fragile, so please treat it with high respect and don''t drop it. The "film" or "ink" is not available at the local store. You must purchase this F-RP120P box which contains both ink and paper. So, if you keep the camera and small printer in a box and have it ready to go, it is a great passport picture system. I also purchased the 2"x2" cutter that is availabe at Amazon to cut the pictures to the proper size. By the way, the camera as a clear plastic overlay that attached to the LCD image on the camera to help you fit the subject properly to get the correct size. A good system to have on hand.

I bought this as a lower price alternative to Epson matte canvas to run through my Epson stylus pro 4900. The paper does not seem to take the Epson inks quite as well as Epson paper. The difference is very small, but I did notice a dustier look to my reds especially. The paper has a fairly heavy texture, which I liked, but it does seem to be prone to some high spots that do not hold ink well. It made for small pimple like irregularities in the printing. This did not show up to much on lighter prints, but when there was a large dark area it started to look like an acne breakout. This did not happen on every dark print, but it did occur often enough to be an irritation. I did not find it to be any dustier than the other matte canvases I have tried. The price more than compensates for the occasional print that has to be redone and I would imagine that the colors would be slightly better if I had used canon inks. I ended up switching back to the Epson canvas (although it is not perfect either and it costs about %50 more), because reprinting was to much of a pain for me.
