HP PHOTOSMART C4150 ALL-IN-ONE

HP PHOTOSMART C4150 ALL-IN-ONEThe print quality is nice, it prints at a good speed and doesn''t have a long calibration time like my Canon Pixma had. I can get by on it for my graphics work. Overall a decent inkjet, especially if you just need it for printing documents and things like that. The scanner can be finnicky though, it doesn''t always scan properly, and I wind up with a horribly scanned piece of the item on the scanner bed. A quick reboot of the printer solves it, though.

This thing was a disaster! It printed all of two pages before malfunctioning. First, it pulled two sheets of paper through, then it pulled about 10 sheets through, and now it keeps giving a message that the printer cartridge cradle can''t move because of a paper jam or obstruction. The HP technician walked me through all the trouble-shooting steps before declaring it a hardware problem and offering me a new one at no cost (but he wanted my credit card number as security until I shipped the defective one back). Uh, no. This thing is going back, back, back and I do NOT want another one. This was supposed to replace my problematic Epson... MMMph. At least the Epson lasted for a few months before it broke. I just bought this one two days ago.

I bought this printer 14 months ago and used it very little, less than 100 pages printed. Last week I got a "paper jam" message but there was no jam. When I turned the printer on and off it would feed the paper but then it would jam. I took it into Best Buy for repairs. The Geek Squad guy said they were getting a lot of these printers back for the false paper jam message. He said they would have to send it in for repairs, estimated cost of $60-$100. He indicated most people just trashed the printer then and bought new rather than throw good money bad. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER.

Bought this printer in April. Probably printed 20 pages on it in 3 months since I have another printer hooked up. When it worked it printed great pictures. Ink cartridges ran run out too quickly though. In July it died. Got a "paper jam" error without any paper in it. Contacted HP service, which is overseas in Asia now. Mostly the rep read off what you can find on their web page. Most of the time I couldn''t understand him anyway. It wasted 1 hr until they agreed to send a remanufactured one to replace the broken printer. 10 days later, the replacement showed up. All was well until the next morning. The color cartridge has some kind of leaked and I needed to run the clean cycle a few time to get it to print in color every time the printer sat for more than 12 hrs. With how little ink is in the HP 95, this was a problem. So I called them again this time I spoke to a supervisor. They sent another remanufactured printer. 10 days later is showed up. And guess what, it doesn''t work. The second replacement will not power up. This was after the supervisor said he would make sure QA double checked the printer before it went out.... Currently I''m working with a case manager (one step higher than a supervisor), who is not very helpfully. It''s been three days and still no solution. I originally bought a C4150, and they sent a c4180. Seems like there are a lot of broken 4180s. If they send back a 4150, I''ll return it and get my money back and buy a Canon. Its too bad, my old HP printer is 7 yrs old and working great. I wanted an all in one to clear up some space..

  • Flat matte surface provides an excellent photographic platform
  • Convenient 17-inch-by-100-foot roll
  • Heavyweight, 10.3 mil stock
  • Bright white base accentuates highlights

I print large landscape panoramas on an Epson 4000 printer and soon to upgrade to an Epson 4880 on this paper. My panoramas can go anywhere from 4'' to 15'' in length and I love the results on this paper. I''d give it 5 stars except that the finished emulsion is very fragile. I sell my panoramas and treat each print that goes out the door with a giclee veneer to protect the finished surface of the print from any rough handling and to extend the colorfast qualities of the print.

This is original manufacturers paper and works very well in my Epson 4800. I hate loading individual sheets and this roll paper works great. Their is some waste obviously depending on the image format you are printing. Of course you need to use this with the mat black inks. So far I like the results very much. I am also thinking of buying the roll canvas.

I got them today in the mail, but the product was not up to my expectations. I guess, I didn''t know what parchment paper looked like. But nevertheless, I was looking for a thicker paper with a somewhat glossy finish. This is way too loose, for me to print a certificate on it and award them to someone. Also, the gold foil embossed border is too golden! Strikingly so, if I may add. I may consider looking for other paper options with a different finish, from Geographics perhaps, but this onedefinetely no!

I really like these for the certificates I give to my students at the completion of their certification. I find however, that they quite often get stuck in my printer. They get all mangled, and they are not cheap, so this makes each page very expensive. Love the way they look though.

I use these to certify a unique training accomplishment this training qualifies personnel to go aboard vessels and train the crews while updating computer systems. I wanted something to signfy the importance of this qulaification and since this is so unique I had to make the certificates myself. I could not have chosen a better product to build these on. With the gold seals I found elsewhere at Amazon I have added a visual validity and my team has framed and hung these on thier bulkheads further evidence I hit the mark I was aiming at. I have had no problem at all with these going through my HP 5550 and the reason I am here writing this review is because I dropped by to buy some more.

I received this product as part of the Amazon Vine program. It came as a bonus to the HP Officejet Pro 8500A Wireless e-All-in-One (CM755A#B1H) I received to test drive.

After printing off a newsletter and a photo or two with regular paper using the 8500A, I was disappointed to find that the paper was overly saturated with ink and the images were not as sharp as I would have liked. When I traded the regular paper for the Hewlett Packard HP Premium Presentation Paper 120g, Matte (8.5" x 11") (Two-Sided) (150 Sheets/Package), Part Number Q5449A, it made all the difference!

Images whether photos or graphics were sharp and bright on this paper. The text was too. Colors were true, and the matte finish was easy on the eyes.

Because of this paper being ''two-sided'' (I thought that was funny because ALL paper is two-sided isn''t it...), it is specially coated on each side to not let ink soak through to the other side. I didn''t notice it doing it when both sides were printed, but initially was worried as when I did a photo on one side without doing the other side, I did notice some spots seemed to bleed through slightly. That could be my printer an inkjet who thinks she''s a laser printer just shooting the ink a bit more heavy handedly than others may.

Overall I''m very pleased with this paper. It''s not a super thick paper, but would work very well for school, home and office projects with lots of graphics or photos. Being ''two-sided'' it also will cut down on using too much paper. Essentially, when you purchase this box of 150 sheets...it''s like buying 300 because you can use both sides and have the end-product come out equally fabulous.

How does a 5-star product like a Mac computer represent and sell this horribly made HP printer in their stores? After less than 6 months of use, out of nowhere it started sounding like a broken car, and after 45 minutes with tech support, they said they could fix it through their computer system for $30 (without us even shipping it). What a rip off!

HP makes all their money from ink, not printers! So if they aren''t willing to fix the printer over a computer connection for free if you''ve owned the printer for less than a year, I recommend anyone who has had troubles with their HP printer to CHANGE THE BRAND OF PRINTER YOU BUY!!!

Come on HP, less than 6 months of owning your printer, and you lost a customer buying ink from you for life.

worst printer everrrr. got it as a promotional deal with the purchase of an apple desktop and I honestly don''t even know why Apple would partner up with HP after this little stint. It took me 15 minutes to print two pieces of paper because the printer kept jamming, even though there was no jam. omg i seriously need a drink after this, however, since it is still quite early, i will instead run it over with my car.

This printer makes the Ford Pinto look like a hand crafted Swiss watch. There is not one redeeming quality about it except its use as a boat anchor. Nothing works. Wireless printing, forget about it. Wired printing, nope, not on your life. Scanning, are you serious? Email printing? Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a kid? No. Nothing and I mean nothing works. I am convinced HP paid Apple more than full retail to dispose of these idiotic waste of carbon printers. Salvation Army has posters up with a picture of this printer that says " Do Not Accept!". That should tell you something. Run, don''t walk away from this heap of junk.

The printer doesn''t work well at all. This product would not hold the paper in the slots. The plastic was broke around the paper holder. I would not recommend this printer to anyone. Also the plastic was all broke up in the shipping of the product. So with the broken parts and not working well I would NOT recommend it to anyone.

I bought the 3050A for a year''s use. it is not robustly built, but it hasn''t broken down or malfunctioned through it''s first two reams.

The wireless was set up effortlessly and upgrading the driver for OS 10.7 was effortless. When it was installed on my MAC Pro I didn''t suffer from the annoying add-on programmes that HP used to stow away on their installation disks. Print quality suits my requirements for business use and passable photos.

If i wanted a top end printer I would expect to pay 5 to 10 times what I paid for the 3050A. Horses for courses 5 stars.

I really enjoyed the Premium Glossy Photo Paper which came with my Epson Stylus CX3810. Believing that this was the same stuff, I picked it up. To my dismay I learned that every shingle sheet is not 4x6, but actually larger. This paper is intended to be used with software called LivePix which doesn''t even come with every Epson printer (and apparently not with mine). It does have a 4x6 section with perforated edges, but that doesn''t help me at all unless I have the software. As a result, I had to tear all the perforation off of every sheet before I could use it with the printing wizard already in Windows XP. This is junk. You are better off buying some other kind which is already 4x6.

This paper is designed for printers that do not allow edge to edge printing. It allows such printers to make true-sized 4x6 inch prints. Yes, you do need to set your printing preferences, and you do need to remove the edges after printing. Easy for most. If you do not mind prints slightly smaller than 4x6 with borders on 4x6 paper, or if your printer does edge-to-edge printing, then buy regular Epson 4x6 paper.

I do a lot of printing in my line of work. I look for printer paper that is of decent quality but not over expensive. Most of my printing does not have to be on high quality paper.

I have found that Staples has a line of rather inexpensive paper that is good enough to meet my needs. This is one of those. I normally buy several packages of this paper at a time, so that I don''t run short when I have a lot of printing to do.

I''[m pretty satisfied. This is not fancy paper; it will not do if you need high quality paper. But it sure meets most of my printing needs.

Kodak ESP-5 All-in-one Printer

Kodak ESP-5 All-in-one Printer
  • Affordable and convenient too, this two-cartridge system saves you up to 50% on everything you print, compared to comparable consumer inkjet printers
  • Print KODAK Lab Quality 4 x 6 Borderless Photos in as little as 30 seconds2 that last a lifetime.
  • Print documents up to 30 pages per minute in black and 29 pages per minute in color.
  • Large 3-Inch color LCD display plus memory card and USB slots, to view, crop and print without a computer.
  • One-touch color copy without PC.

I am thoroughly impressed with the ESP-5. I was foaming at the mouth when Kodak came out with their first line of "All in One" 5300 series printers, but after having read many marginal reviews I decided to pass and fight it out with my Lexmark X7350 until the next Kodak generation arrived. I''m glad I waited and put shortly... Kodak has ARRIVED!

The Kodak ESP-5 prints great looking full frame 4x6 and 5x7 lab quality prints. The sheet feeder is both reliable and accurate. I print a lot of labels and reproducible alignment is important. The ESP-5 does a wonderful job in terms of reproducibility and color quality. The blank paper feed on my Lexmark is unreliable at BEST! The Kodak has been 100% in terms of mechanical reliability. Color rendition is basically "WYSIWYG" when compared to a calibrated monitor.

The scanner works reliably and produces great resolution scans with accurate tonal quality.

I am also thoroughly impressed with the Kodak Perfect Touch technology software included in the Kodak Home Center. The enhancements such as color restoration and sharpening work fantastic. Please look at the Humming bird picture that I took and enhanced with the included Kodak Home Center.

And last but not least is the cost of the refill cartridges. Thank goodness I''ll no longer have to run down and buy another expensive Lexmark or HP ink cartridge. Kodak has a great product with a great marketing strategy... i.e. Sell a decent printer with reasonably priced inks, unlike Lexmark and HP who basically give you the printer for $40 and make their $$$$ on overpriced ink that they purposely engineer so that you can''t refill and reuse them. (I still can''t grasp Lexmark''s and HP''s "One Use" License concept...)

Simply put. As soon as you use up that last expensive Lexmark or HP ink cartridge either recycle your old printer or put it in the nearest dumpster and run and buy yourself the Kodak ESP-5!

Footnote 1: I downloaded the latest Kodak Home Center software and ESP-5 firmware upgrade before I printed my first page, so I can''t attest to the original software version that came in the box. Seems like all manufacturers always have an upgraded version waiting on their website. This approach worked flawlessly for me, so I''d suggest you do the same.

Footnote 2: I''m running Windows XP (latest service pack) and have had no software problems.

Footnote 3: I am in no way associated with Kodak, Lexmark or HP. Just trying to provide an honest unbiased review based on my experiences.

Footnote 4: The ESP-5 came with an USB cable and bonus Print Artist software. Printing directly from the SD memory card slot works great.

Setting up this printer was pain free. All the steps were listed on the set up guide, and there is no drama, or trauma involved. Then, the oddity struck.

1. You must press the On button twice to get the set up started when prompted. If you press once, the On button will simply blink over and over. Pressing twice will turn on the screen.

2. It is fairly loud printer, but vibrates less than some of HP AIOs I''ve owned.

3. Scanner is very decent, perhaps a notch better than ones found in most HP AIOs.

4. Print quality on plain paper is good enough. You can tell that it is inkjet, but not bad overall.

5. Scanning via Photoshop is great, but there is two options in the "import". Choose "Kodak ESP 5 AiO" for simple setting, and choose "WIA-Kodak ESP 5 AiO" if you want more flexibilities (including options to reorient/level the document using Photoshop).

And here comes the flaws.

1. Trying to change the print setting in the web browser will crash the browser. Updating the printer software did not help, nor is there any troubleshooting to exorcise this problem. Simple click of "Print" will print out the document from the web browser, though.

2. Feeder is single roll, and off-center. When the feeder rolls to take the paper in, it tends to overshoot one side, causing the print to look slightly crooked. Not a problem for casual printing, but definitely No-No for serious printing matters such as Resume, or even Photo.

3. Every now and then, the printer status icon will blink "Not connected" while printing out the document, when it is clearly connected (and printing out properly). I believe it might be due to the lack of matured print software, and hope to see this problem solved.

All in all, average printer, better scanner, but terrible software.

Used Windows Vista SP1, Adobe Photoshop CS3 (and lots of memories) to test out this printer.

After smashing(literally) my Lexmark X7170 from frustration, I needed a new printer. I wanted an all-in-one, but mainly just wanted a good quality photo printer. I got this for $120 on sale, which is a good deal, but I wouldn''t pay more than that for this printer. It''s very lightweight, with a simple, stylish design. It takes up very little desktop space compared to most all-in-ones. It''s very easy to install and set-up. Be aware that when I bought it, it did not come with a usb cable. I used my old one, no biggie. Additionally, it only comes with a "sample pack" of paper: a few sheets of type paper, and a few sheets of 4x6 photo paper, that''s it. I started w/the 4x6. The paper pickup on my Lexmark kept failing to work properly, picking up multiple sheets/jamming/etc, which is why I smashed it. The pickup on the Kodak works fine, never jamming or picking up multiple sheets. However, the printer would continually say wrong paper size. I selected 4x6 from the menu, but still nothing. On a hunch, I flipped the paper over, and it worked fine. Of course, it printed on the wrong side of the paper! I never did get a 4x6 photo printed right. Next I went to 8x10. I used some generic photo paper, and some high-end Kodak paper to compare. Without a doubt, the generic paper looked washed out, the Kodak looked much better. The colors were deeper and more vibrant. This isn''t unusual, as all printers I''ve seen recommend only using proprietary paper. There''s the reason. Some things you can do:add watermark(confidential, draft proof, etc) You can print black and white or color, switch from portrait to landscape. This printer uses 6 colors, so it''s better than cheaper printers that only use 3 or 4. There are a few things I don''t like. It takes a long, very noisy, time to initially warm up and get ready to print. You must make sure it''s fully on, b/c if you send a print job to the printer too early, the printer will say it''s out of paper. I wanted a good quality photo printer, but on larger photos, the pics can look grainy. It''s not that bad, but nowhere near professional quality, and not worth the printers normal retail of $180. Only buy this on sale. Even when fully warmed up, it takes a long, noisy time to start printing. It almost seems like my Lexmark right before the paper would jam, or it would say tray empty. Just as I want to shove the paper in farther, to hit the pickup, it starts printing. I have so far printed many photos and typed pages, and the ink is still half full. Ink conservation is supposedly an advantage of Kodak printers, and I''d say that''s correct. Scanner and copier quality is very good, not great; again what you''d expect from this class of printers. There''s no fax. For the occasional photo printer needs, this is a good printer for the price I paid. For professional quality photos, spend more on a better printer. The included software is also very basic, so get Photoshop etc. I only print occasionally, so this printer works fine for me.

Edit as of 7/5/09. I now give this printer 2 stars, not my original 4. That''s b/c I have just trashed it. I use my printer very sporadically, so it took me months to run out of ink. Once I replaced the cartridges, I have had nothing but problems. Every time I try to print something, I get the following pattern. Attempt one comes out looking faded, w/print gaps everywhere, like the printer is almost out of ink. Attempt two, the page is almost blank. Attempt 3 comes out over-saturated w/ink and blotchy. Attempt 4 comes out w/ink smeared all over the place. Finally, attempt 5(altho sometimes not until 6 or 7, but usu 5) prints normally. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 b/c the original ink tank worked flawlessly, so at least I got that out of it. Since I am not about to go thru 5 sheets of paper, and 1/3 of the ink tank every time I need to print something, I am now in the market for a new printer.

Want Kodak ESP-5 All-in-one Printer Discount?

I purchased the ESP-5 based on a coworker''s experience with Kodak All-in-One printers. The biggest selling point was the cost of the replacement ink. Having spent a small fortune on HP ink over the years on two HP printers, I was ready for a change. The set-up of the Kodak was pain free and the initial printing of pictures went off without a hitch. I used HP 4X6 photo paper that I had left over and was impressed with the color and quality of the prints. Then things got ugly. Addressing an envelope caused a paper jam. After clearing the jam, the printer no longer printed properly. After running through the trouble shooting diagnostics, I got an error message stating that the problem required calling the Help line. First call was a waste of time. The ''techie'' wasn''t listening, but reading from a script that was not in his native tongue. Second call went slightly better, ''techie'' said it sounded like a problem with the print head. She said she would send a new print head and ink cartridges overnight. I did receive them the next day. This didn''t cure the problem. Third call to Kodak lasted about half an hour. After telling the ''techie'' to not talk, but listen closely I explained exactly what wasn''t happening. His solution was to send me to the Kodak website and download new firmware. Lo and behold, my printer is now behaving like a well mannered child, doing everything it''s told to do. Prints are of excellent quality, copies are good, scans are good, too. In summary, if you want to save money on ink replacements and have patience, then the Kodak printer is a good buy.

The Kodak ESP-5 printer has a major flaw since "non-Kodak" glossy photo paper like Epson, HP, TDK etc. can not be properly printed on this printer. Because the high gloss nature of these papers (in contrast to the porous and very slightly textured Kodak photo paper), the ESP-5 "polished plastic feeding rollers" can not grip and feed these papers properly, resulting in skewed printing. e.g. the content does not precisely print parallel to the edge of the paper. Buyers of this printer have no choice but to use exclusively the more expensive Kodak photo paper.

I have at least one to two of this model printer in the offices I work at because they are so reliable, and need minimal maintenence. All of mine are in health care settings, where records are key. The toner last for many sheets of printing (never counted, but I know I probably go more than 1000 sheets at least). The printer rarely jams (except when I used really cheap thin paper), and the secretaries love the sheet feed selection if having to use overhead paper for a letter. The quality of the print (i believe up to 1200dpi) is great for black and white. Highly recommended investment, quite likely one of the last printers your office will need.
