Moab Lasal Photo Matte

Moab Lasal Photo Matte, Double Sided, Bright White Archival Inkjet Paper, 235gsm, 13x19'', 50 SheetsI cannot say enough about Moab paper. I''ve been using a variety of papers with my Canon PIXMA Pro9000. Moab paper is stored in a solid package that offers versatility and reusability. The prints are phenomenal and I''m continually astounded by the vivid color. All across the spectrum, blacks are just the way you want them and gradients come across smooth on this paper. Overall, I''m very pleased with the quality of the prints and the weight of the paper. If you''re printing something important or want to ensure good prints for package mock-ups, I would highly recommend this paper.

Moab, by Legion Papers, is a relatively new player in the inkjet paper market. They came on the scene in the early 2000''s with a variety of inkjet papers, and are extremely young considering the longer histories of the likes of Ilford, who''s been around since the early days of film and photographic paper, or Hahnemuhle, an original German paper manufacturer who has a 500 year history making fine art paper and canvas. Despite their younger age, Moab papers hold their own against the giants of the industry.

Lasal papers from Moab are some of the best papers available in their price range. The surface of all Lasal papers, both glossy and matte, is extremely smooth, with no discernible texture. When it comes to the Lasal Photo Matte, it has an fairly high dMax, with some of the most detailed blacks I''ve ever seen in a medium contrast print. Color is very rich and very detailed, right down into the deepest shadows (an unusual trait in fine art papers, where shadow detail is quite frequently lost or simply difficult to discern). The paper is of lighter weight, the lightest of all the Lasal papers. This paper is PH neutral (acid/lignen free).

It should be noted that all Lasal papers use OBA''s, or Optical Brightening Agents, to assist in achieving a high brightness. Lasal papers are very white, almost blueish papers. This can be seen as a drawback to this type of paper, as prints will generally not look their best unless properly illuminated. Additionally, OBA''s eventually fade, reducing print lifetime. If you are looking for a purely natural paper with high brightness, you might want to look into one of the more expensive brands, such as Innova FibaPrint White Gloss, which also has an exceptionally high dMax.

If you are looking for an economical matte paper with a high dMax and superb shadow detail, this is definitely the paper you are looking for.

I use these transparency sheets in my new HP Printer for my collage artwork. I''ve never had a problem with them jamming in the machine. Just make sure you put the correct side down for the printing and it works wonderfully.

Plain, effective, inexpensive. Good for general Quality Control plots. Probably submittals too. I was hesitant to get this instead of the more expensive coated paper. But this is fine.

So I bought this paper for a completely different reason than most people would buy it. I do not own a printer.

I bought this product to put it up on the walls in my room for brainstorming. I cut out 8 ft stretches each time, put it up using masking tape, and a new brainstorming board is ready for me (with the ability to look back at them later).

I am an apparel design student and I wanted to have pattern making paper at home that was comparable to what we use at school. This is actually MUCH nicer. It is a brilliant white and has a smooth surface. The school has a rougher version that makes erasing a pain. You do not get small rough places on this pattern paper after erasing. It is opaque enough that using a red sharpie for the grain line does not penetrate the paper. The 24" width is ample for men''s and women''s garment patterns. I bought this to fit on a 24" wall mounted METAL dispenser. It fits great and tears smoothly and evenly. This came in a package of 2 rolls of 150 feet. My only complaint is that I wish it came in ONE ROLL of 300 feet. This would fit nicely on the dispenser, and would eliminate the need to store the other roll until you need to use it. Other than that, it is perfect for apparel designers and pattern makers.

NOTE: The center hole is large enough to fit the metal kraft paper dispensers. I had to order several other kinds and return them before I found this one! MOST other rolls had center holes that were tiny. Some roll papers said "drawing" paper and were really TRACING paper. This is truly paper, not tracing parchment.

Really good quality paper and it is thick enough that it is not prone to wrinkling and has a smooth, high quality finish. Highly recommended!

I cut a full-width slot in the top of the box, then re-inserted the roll of paper, fed the end through the slot, taped the box closed again, and placed it behind my work table. Now I can pull the paper up and over the table (anchor it with masking tape) to serve as a clean surface for my next project. Much better than what I''ve been doing for years (taping old calendar pages together).

After 4 years, my photosmart 4200 decided it no longer wanted to accept its cartridges, I decided to simply buy a new printer.

The envy simply stands apart from most printers as it simply feels more solidly well built, it''s much heavier than most but probably more than it needs to be the thing IS heavy, perhaps that''s why it''s ultra quiet when printing.

The set up is easy if you plan to use a cable. If you plan to use it wirelessly beware, the set up may be a bit more cumbersome. My windows computer could not recognize/discover the printer''s IP address, it took me an hour with tech support to successfully set up.

THE REASON I TOOK IT BACK: If, like me, you use your printer for work related documents, beware THIS PRINTER CANNOT PRINT ON LEGAL SIZED PAPER. Like Apple, HP has sacrificed the practical for the aesthetic. I understand what the designers wanted to do, by hiding the tray and paper under the machine, hence making it a wonderful looking living room accessory but they could have built an opening on the tray, on the off chance one wanted to print legal-sized paper. Also, for a printer at this price point, having just two cartridge slots: black & color, will almost certainly make your ink replacement budget higher.

If you want printer that is not your typical noisy, bulky, cheaply built plastic fare this may be the one. However, if you run a home based business, or print different sized work documents from home, beware of its limitations.

After extensive research on printers,I decided to purchase this HP Envy 114.It had the options I wanted and got great reviews from people on Amazon and from other comments elsewhere.

I have three different operating systems in my home.Mac Lion, Mac Snow Leopard and Windows 7. All three OS loaded flawlessly. All OS loaded from a single CD that came with the printer.I was able to setup the Network through my home WiFi with absolutely no difficulty at all.The software did it all.All I needed to do was follow the instructions as the disc loaded the software on all three of my computers.

You can tilt the display menu to fit your preference. You can set the printer to stay in idle mode so it''s continually ready for print from any room or computer in the home.Or even set it to a timer to shut down. The paper loads from the front bottom of the printer. The tray easily pulls out when needed to be filled. The printed page spews from the front as well. The display menu and paper extension automatically recesses back inside the printer after you grab the print. It is so much more quieter than the Cannon I owed. The speed is very good also.I have not yet tried to use my iTouch through air print or the e-print feature as of yet,but I see no reason why it wouldn''t be as flawless just the same.

Before you load the software on your computer,be sure to load the paper, ink and plug in the printer and follow the instructions from the printer''s menu first, then proceed to load the software in your computer(s)

The instruction has a web site address that offers 20 free faxes a month. So if needed, you can fax the odd time without cost to you through the web without using a phone line.

I will gladly update in perhaps about 6 months time to review the durability.

Take care.

I already have one of these and we have used it for about 6 months and loved it so much, I just bought another. It takes up very little space and does what we need it to do. It is not a really high volume printer, so if you want one of those, this is not the right one for you. I wanted a wireless printer that I could print from for any of our devices: ipads, macbook pros, imacs, airbooks. And this does it without any problems. It does require attention to detail when setting this up, so try not to take any shortcuts. All in all, HP did this printer right!

This printer is not for you if you plan to use it a lot. Access to paper is not super convenient.

HOWEVER, if you are interested in a sleek, sharp, quiet inkjet printer that is ePrint and iPad AirPrint compatible, then this is the one to get. It is heavy, it is quiet, it moves all by itself and just amazing to watch as you print something from the iPad. Then, it closes the door by itself. My family was just in awe.

I wanted to love this printer. It has got to be the most beautiful printer ever. The fact that you cannot tell it is a printer and that there is no paper hanging out to give it away was a selling feature to me. However, this printer is truly form over function.

PROS:

Beautiful

Whisper Silent

Decent black-ink printing speed

Ridiculously easy set up

Smaller footprint

Rarely feeds papers crooked

Large touch screen with decent performance

CONS:

Will not allow custom paper sizes

Limited print options (cannot fine-tune print quality, about of ink used)

Jams on heavier paper

Slow color print speed

Washes out colors

The worst con has got to be that after just a few dozen prints, the backs of my papers became smeared. I don''t know if it''s because I was using heavier/thicker paper, but it was annoying.

I wanted to love this printer, but I''m returning it today.
