Printer: Lexmark

Reason for purchase: Looking for a good temporary tattoo brand that I could use to create my own designs to sell at art shows.

I purchased 3 brands of temporary tattoos and this one was the best out of them all. With regular washing my test tattoo, for this brand, stayed on about 5 days. Later, after reading some tips online, I found that my tattoo would have remained perfect and not become blurred if I hadn''t scrubbed the tattoo area.

For me it didn''t give me a super glossy finish. It was more of a mild finish which allowed it to look more realistic.

Liked most: That not only did the product come in a resealable bag, but you could tell between the adhesive paper from the waterslide paper. The adhesive had graphing lines on them; which was great because if I only wanted to use half a page I didn''t have to estimate where to cut. Also removeable was a snap! A lil rubbing alcohol and in less than a min it was gone.

FInally two of us made it work. The problem was the decal paper was one sheet, not two with one to peel off. We watched the recommended video over and over and saw the person peeling back another sheet of paper that we did not have. The contact paper had 2 layers and that worked fine. No directions were included, just a link to a video. The product is a good one, though.

Held on pretty strong, but looked fake because they''re shiny/glossy on the skin. Sweat started to make it bubble by the end of the night, but took some serious scrubbing (skin raw) to remove when it started to look too grody (picks up dirt over a day or two too)

But that being said, was a great way to test out tentative tattoo ideas, and in a club/bar I doubt anyone could tell they weren''t real!

Using and printing on this product was fairly easy although adding the sticky material to the tattoo printout was not too easily achieved.Further the material that makes the tattoo design stick to your skin is super, super thick and shiny when applied to your skin. The design will last for sure but it is extremely uncomfortable to have on your skin. It feels like a see through bandaid when applied and crinkles with the movement of your skin. Not at all comfortable to wear!!!

The company shipped thus so quick, I was thankful for that. And it was super easy to print on the paper. But the sticky part rips up the image if you aren''t careful, and it crinkles on your skin. It takes everything in your power to get them to stick to your skin, but once it''s on there, it is so difficult to get off. I had almost a carpet burn from trying to get one off only 6 hours later.

The mohawk paper is really nice. I use it to publish a monthly news magazine (12-20 pages) of good news in my area. It is slick and looks very professional and competes with any other magazine paper in quality. The only problem, the paper is quite expensive and is not sold in my area. I have to travel to Jackson, MS to purchase reams. When I ordered from Amazon, I thought that I would be in seventh heaven and get enough to last two months. No! No! Amazon shipped the paper in four installments, not indicated in my ordering quest. I had to wait several days to get another ream and a few more days for the next and so on. Hence, my news magazine was sent out later than readers expected. Late news does not read well.

This paper is easy to grip for searching through a file and never clogs in the printer. Whenever we need to print a document for handoff, we always get complements on the paper. This paper is great for imaging/scanning due to image/document quality.

Happy customers after I designed and printed new tri-fold crochures for my newest customer. Very professional results. Nice weight, nice finish. Just have to be careful not to let them ''stack'' after printed, so ink doesn''t smudge...takes about 30 seconds to dry.

I bought this product to make color invitations. I did not realize there was a restriction on the type of ink you can use with this paper. When I printed with my color copier that uses ink cartridges, it smeared on the paper. I don''t have a laser color copier but I''m assuming that is the kind of printer that works with this paper. Now I have 99 pieces of color copy gloss cover paper that I can''t print on.

HP Q5916A#484 9200C Digital Sender

HP Q5916A#484 9200C Digital Sender
  • Intuitive touch-screen control panel provides a consistent and familiar user experience.
  • Includes a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) that supports two-sided scanning of double-sided originals.
  • Uses a existing network authentication to verify users, provide security for both the sender and receiver, and control and track device usage.

I''ve used several generations of this product, the 9200 being the best. To work properly, you''ll need a PC or file server to act as a central storage location. The server software lets you create user accounts so that the scanner can be used to save the files in it''s disk space, or email the documents to yourself or anyone else you need to send them to. The storage folder on the server can be accessed remotely through file sharing, so it''s just like the files are local on your desktop if you need them locally.

I''ve seen businesses completely replace their mail room delivery with a digital sender. Scanning all incoming mail and forwarding it electronically to the person it was addressed to. Only documents that require the original paper for legal reasons need be sent to users. All the rest could then be recycled stopping the collection of junk paper around the office.

It''s server software can also be used with the HP printers that have the digital sending facility built into the control panel. It gives these machines the same abilities as the sender to a degree. The 9200 scans both sides very fast, in full color. Saves in Tiff files or PDF automatically. Printer/copiers with the ability usually only scan one side. This is one of the few machines that help you achieve the "paperless" office many companies work towards.

This is obviously not something an individual user would have much use for. Cheaper desktop scanners could accomplish many of it''s features on a small scale. This machine is designed to scan hundreds of pages of documents automatically. It has replaceable drive rollers so that it''s easy to keep running smoothly. It''s cost comes from the built in computer operating system. It boots from an internal hard drive. It requires configuration to operate on your local network. It needs to know the address of you mail server for example. In some environments, it can use the mail servers accounts avoiding the need to configure these things into it''s own memory.

It will require someone to it''s local expert to avoid problems. HP maintains a user forum for the product so this person can communicate with experts should an unusual problem arise. This user group can be a god send if you have problems figuring out a problem. Ideally this person should have good computer skills, above just simple office software use. But any sharp savy computer user can figure it out and keep it operating smoothly.

It may be helpful to purchase from a dealer that offers installation assistance. Just be sure this assistance isn''t just unpacking the box. If you don''t know how to manually setup a computer on a network and configure it''s connection for mail, you will have problems configuring the sender.

I purchased this printer to use at my office, because I needed something that could print color brochures and flyers quickly while producing a good quality image. I''ve had it for about two months now and I''m very pleased. I had a bit of trouble installing it on my ancient laptop which was running Win98 and had only 32MB of ram. According to the box, my laptop had the minimum requirements, but when I ran the software it told me that I didn''t, and refused to install. I played around with it and finally got it to work and haven''t had a problem since. I also notified HP about this problem since the software and the box say two different things. They are looking into it.

This printer is fast, does great quality prints and is pretty quiet. I also really like the sleek design. The picture above does not do it justice. I''ve been getting compliments from co-workers about how cool it looks. It really is nicely designed and doesn''t take up too much space.

I''ve used HP printers for years and have always found them to last an extremely long time. I usually replace mine because I want a faster one before I replace one for breaking down. Also, I want to mention that I bought an Epson about a year ago because I heard about how great they were and I was very dissapointed. The Epson ink cartridges do NOT have new printer heads on the bottom of them, like HP and many other brands do. Because of this, the Epson print heads routinely dry out, get full of gunk and refuse to print, or cause a lot of smearing on your documents. I''ve had to take my Epson apart twice to remove gunk from it, and I am still not satisfied with its print quality. All other things aside, you should pick HP over Epson just for the shear fact that every time you put a new cartridge in you are also replacing the print head.

I brought my 5650 home tonight because I needed to print something on my home computer and my Epson was acting up again. Installation on WinXP was a breeze. I didn''t have my cd with me so I just downloaded the software from the HP website and had no problems.

Bottom line: This is a great printer for the price and I recommend it to anyone looking for work or home office use.

First off this is the easiest printer I have ever encountered. Installation took about 10 minutes at the most. I have Norton anti-virus program and was never asked to disable it (don''t know why you would). Also we have a home network with 3 computers and everyone can use the printer with no problem (2 computers running on XP home and 1 on XP Pro.) As for the pictures they are amazing. It takes about 2 seconds to swap out the black cartridge for the photo cartridge and your off. 4X6 borderless prints at the maximum dpi (4800X1200) in less than 60 seconds and 8X10 in about 90 seconds. Its fast and no one will never know that you printed the photo. I have had family members ask me where I had my digital pictures developed. The pictures are just amazing you will be in shock when you print the first one.

Yes, there is a lack of directions but just do a little poking around and you can figure out how to use the printer.

This was a gift to me and I would recommend if you know someone who wants a photo printer to get this one or another HP. HP makes the best photo printers as far as I have found. And the ink is much cheaper than any other printer manufacture (about $19.99 for black, $24.99 for photo and $34.99 for tri color).

Lastly paper does matter. If you want to frame a photo buy the good stuff. The price seems steep but $20.00 for 60 photos'' is really not that bad (just a lot to shell out up front).

Happy Printing!

HP printers have been my favorite for many years, but this particular printer is subpar. It''s construction is noticeably flimsier than previous models, and it has compatability issues with a number of programs, including at least some versions of PrintMaster. I installed this printer on three different computers running two different operating systems (XP and ME) and the software installed differently on all three computers, even the two that are both running XP. HP''s troubleshooting and maintenance software used to be excellent, but with this model it is difficult to figure out how to print a self-test page, much less troubleshoot any problems that might arise.

Also, this model is extremely particular about what paper you feed it. My old 722C would take anything, but the 5650 doesn''t. I wasn''t able to print at all on colored inkjet paper! Even HP Photo paper tends to jam in this printer! The automatic paper detect feature has a tendency to detect banner paper despite the fact that I have never used banner paper and this tends to cause the printer to lock up when I try to print.

The only reason the 5650 gets a two star rating from me rather than a one is due to the fact that it does print very nice photographs, particularly with the photo ink cartridge. Photos on the 5650 print sharper and clearer than even on previous HP models. That is, they do when the photo printer paper doesn''t jam in the machine.

I have had difficulty with Canon in the past, but my father has been using Epson printers for about as long as I have used HP and he has some very nice results. Also, Epson is addressing the true digital photography lab with many of its newer products. I think it is time for me to switch ....

Just got a new Dell computer (October 2003) was a little worried after reading the first Amazon review by jackbmichael. The printer was fairly easy to set-up and self-installed after loading the enclosed HP software just thought I''d let any other Windows XP Home Edition users out there know.

About 1-1/2 years ago my not-so-old Epson stylus stopped printing, clogged inkheads=garbage.

So, I purchased an HP printer, which began giving me problems within the first three weeks. I contacted HP tech for help, but alas, after hours of trying this and that (you know the drill) it was determined that I needed to return my printer to Best Buy, a mere five miles from my house. I still had a week for a simple exchange...but NOOOOO, the man (from another country, probably India) insisted that they didn''t want me to go through the trouble! Please let us send you a replacement via ups. I thought that was silly but he insisted. I told him that I could exchange this printer in less than an hour, but I caved and allowed him to send it to me

I did have another printer I could use in the meantime (my ancient Canon...it''s still ticking after seven years...) so it was no huge deal.

About one week later, UPS drops an HP box off on my porch.

The first thing that I notice is that it has a large sticker on it that says, "REFURBISHED IN MEXICO"

My thoughts were "WHAT THE ****!" REFURBISHED?

I refused the package (never opened it) and UPS picked it up a few days later.

I contacted HP and spoke to a rep who kept insisting that it was a good as new. (scripting, scripting, AAARGH!) I DIDN''T WANT as GOOD as NEW! I wanted NEW since that was what I had!! I was not happy and went in circles with them, reminding them that it was over the 30 days now in which I could have EASILY exchanged my HP at Best Buy. I was hugely insulted and felt very deceived.

I went to BB and explained the situation, giving them a copy of my online chat text with the rep. They were very cool about it and exchanged my printer for me, as a matter of fact I upgraded to an HP5650. In hindsight, I should have gone with another manufacturer altogether.

I contacted HP again and spoke to some higher up rep about this situation...and mind you, I don''t swear at people and was polite but assertive with my complaint to this woman...she was witch from the get-go...I told her that I thought the service was deceptive and I had to spend an awful lot of time on the phone, calling them, UPS, calling them again, and exchanging my unit because of what they had sent me. I could have simply exchanged the unit on the first day and it would have been done.

She said, "Well, what do you WANT from us?" very very curtly,

All I wanted was to be heard, have them admit their error and to have the two new ink cartridges that I was told to open(by their rep) for testing in my printer replaced. She finally agreed.

They sent me only one of the cartridges. Losers.

So, here I am with my HP5650, which has a history of being temperamental, getting hung up (turn it off, wait an hour, try again) but printed text and graphics very well otherwise.

Yesterday evening the carriage froze up. I could barely get the ink cartriges out, obviously, things are messed up. I can''t get the ink cartridges back in because the whole set-up in the carriage area is stuck. I''ve got two expensive ink cartridges left and this thing is now a piece of garbage. We even resorted to pounding on it. I am weary.

Never again will HP and I be associated in any way.

Epson PictureMate Personal Photo Printer

Epson PictureMate Personal Photo Printer
  • 1-touch 4-by-6-inch lab-quality photo printing
  • Remarkably low operating cost, about 29 cents per print
  • 5,760 x 1440 dpi maximum resolution, 2.5-picoliter drops
  • 6-color pigment inks; resists fading for up to 200 years in archival sleeves
  • USB, memory card slots, optional Bluetooth; PC and Mac
  • USB, memory card slots, optional Bluetooth - PC and Mac

Before I bought the Epson PictureMate, I had some of my digital photos printed at the local drug store. Then I took them in to the store where I was going to buy my Picture Mate and asked them to print the same pictures so I could compare the quality.

There was no comparison! The pictures printed by the Epson PictureMate were 100% better than the same pictures when they were printed commercially. So I bought it immediately.

For $29 you get a six jet ink cartridge plus 100 sheets of 4 x 6 paper -making the cost 29 cents per photo, same as in the store. Epson guarantees that you can print 100 pictures from the ink cartridges. Being somewhat cheap, I have printed several more pictures after the 100 sheets ran out. I did find that the quality on another brand of paper is not as good as on the Epson paper. They probably design the ink and paper to be used together.

I am very satisfied with my Epson PictureMate. We took a long vacation this summer in a travel trailer, and it is compact enough to store easily, and easy enough to use that when I wanted to print up some of my photos I did.

Buy Epson PictureMate Personal Photo Printer Now

I have owned the Epson PictureMate for the past five months and have printed at least 1000 pictures with it. No other photo printer I have ever owned comes close. The prints are dry coming out of the printer, scratch resistant, and gorgeous. They are equal in quality to 60 cent prints from a photo shop and superior to what you can get at CVS, Costco, or online. I routinely get at least 150 prints from each cartridge (extra paper is available from Epson at $14/100 sheets) so the cost per print is much less that the 29 cents advertised. I have only had to clean the print head once. I use Photoshop Elements to crop and edit all my photos and have never had the cropping problem described in previous reviews. I suspect that some of this my be due to the camera not being set to take 4x6 ratio shots.

A few minor caveats: You MUST use Epson PicureMate paper. Results are poor to fair with anything else. But at these prices, so what. Printing is s--l--o--w. Paper tray is too small.

I''ve had this printer for over a month now and I''ve printed over 100 photos from the cartridge that was provided. I am VERY happy with the quality of the photos. Not only are they sharp but the color is beautiful and saturated. AND the prints are finger print proof!! (I''m very anal about that so this is a huge plus for me.) As a photographer, they''re perfect for giving away as self-promotion items. I was able to print directly from my computer (I have an Apple G5) and from a USB flash drive without any problems. I printed a friend''s wedding photos in black and white and in color and they couldn''t believe it was printed at home.

There are only a couple reasons why I did not give this printer 5 stars. One was the lack of portability. A battery option would have been nice, especially since it is compact and comes with a handle. Also, there is no display to see what you are printing. How can you crop a photo without knowing what you''re cropping??

I hope Epson will take these things into consideration and include these options in the next model.

As for those of you who have had problems with the printer cropping your photos when you didn''t ask it to, it is because your camera may not be taking 4x6 photos. The printer will fit the photo the best it can but it will have to cut some information out in order to print it on the given size of the paper.

Overall, I am very happy I got this printer. I highly recommend it!

This is the killer of the last die hard film camera users! I purchased this printer for myself to go with a simple Sony 3.1 digital camera. My wife is the one in the family that takes all the snapshots of kids and family functions and vacations. She has resisted the digital photography revolution up until now due to the costs and hassle associated with digital photography. After one week of having this printer she changed her tune 100% and now has switched to digital photography solely due to this printer.

We''ve had this printer for many months and found it to be great. The ink outlasts 100 prints and you can by the Espson paper separately. So it is getting even better than 29 cents per print. The lack of a screen on the printer isn''t that bad as we delete unwanted prints with the camera''s functionality. It does cut off the head of the photo a bit, we are now careful to make sure the subject is not to the very top of the picture to workaround this problem.

Quality definitely is better than comparable drop off photo shops, we printed the same photo at home and had them developed at local drop offs to compare.

Only other minor annoyance is when you want to print just one or two photos on a card, there is no way to know what number the priter thinks they are without printing a thumbnail sheet(s).

I''ve had to copy the desired shots to another card via my computer as a solution to save time hassle when I want to do this.

This thing is great for basic snapshot photography people. If you take a lot of pictures and are always droping them off at local processors, this will change that forever. Its so easy to use, my six year old can even do it. The kids love to wait while the photos come out!

Great printer if all you need is 6x4 pictures. The print quality it''s as advertised, top lab quality. Low price per print, since the "ink", in fact pigment, will last you more then 100 photos.

On the down side, a little bit slow (but not 6-7 minutes like someone post it here), but considering the quality of the photos it''s worth it. Also known poor Epson support.

Now if you print from desktop, the Epson driver will still somewhat crop your picture, even after you crop to 6x4 in Photoshop or something like that. That''s because the printer driver increases the size of the print to allow for sloppy alignment and the edges of the photo are oversprayed (printed off the edge of the paper) when borderless is selected.

If this is a problem for you, there is a work around. Just add a border of about 15 pixels before you print, and the driver will remove the border and no additional cropping of the picture. There you go...Happy printing....

We printed out a bunch of wedding photos on Canon Platinum Pro paper first, but ran out with only a few to go, and the store only had the HP Premium Plus left. That''s when we first bought this, and we were amazed at how true the colors were reproduced on this paper compared to what we saw on our screen. We kind of wished we''d started with HP for a project this big, and have since ordered a bunch of it on Amazon. On the Canon paper, which we also like for its own reasons, we had to tweak the contrast and colors a little bit on some images, especially in darker shots. This paper was great with no image tinkering. Now, all of the Canon Papers described above come in 80lb stock and feel great in your hand. HP paper also comes in 80lb, but at times it was difficult to find some of the sizes in 80lb, and we had to buy their 75lb stock. The 75lb stock obviously feels less impressive in your hand, especially when you''re holding 80lb in the other. With HP''s different stocks so similarly named and packaged, take the time to examine the label before you buy and make sure you''re getting all one stock weight in the various sizes you need, if this matters to you. The 8.5" x 11" size of this product seems to be 75lb. This particular 5x7 paper being reviewed is 80lb, and we think it''s great.

This is a mechanically rugged paper with a very nice surface that reproduces excellent exhibition grade color images when used with a DesignJet 130r in highest quality mode. I recently put on a jury-selected exhibition at a workshop and several of the instructors expressed a lot of positive interest in this paper, including a university instructor who had been one of Ansel Adams''s assistants. Used with Vivera inks, it is reasonably archival accordingly to Wilhelm. The only drawback in the high sensitivity to water droplets and you can prevent that with Plexiglass.

When used on a properly calibrated monitor-printer system (I regularly use a Color-Munki, also highly recommended), this paper also produces black and white and color prints of great subtlety on a new DesignJet 130r. Its reproduction of subtle gradations in color is superior to my Epson 3880. Highly saturated colors are also very well done.

This is by far the best printing paper I''ve found for my HP 130 roll fed printer. Rich, bold colors, nice lines, great surface sheen, not as reflective as glossy. I simply love this paper, wouldn''t use anything else for my customer prints.

Bought paper to print out several 23''X6'' posters. Paper works excellently. I''m used to photo paper that is used in typical home inkjets and was surprised that this HP Premium Satin Inkjet Paper was a lot thicker than what I''m used to dealing with. Photo finish is great, and even though the plotter seems to want to let the ink dry for 3 minutes after printing, I have no smudging problems at all if I bypass the drying time.

The only thing I should mention is even though I bought the "stain" version of the paper, it still is shiny, and doesn''t work extremely well with the overhead lights as I have where the prints are being mounted. Paper is significantly duller than the "high-gloss" paper though, so I guess I can''t complain about that. Good product, great price, and I''d buy it again if I need more than 50'' worth of stuff printed out.

I go through several rolls a year of this fine paper with my DJ-130. It''s essentially the only kind of paper I run on that printer. Gorgeous prints.

To start off, let me say that I am traditionally not a fan of HP''s products. I did, however, view this all-in-one as having some nicer features than some others and took a chance.

I feel that generally HP does well with hardware products and or designs but struggles with their software integration with their products. I feel this is the case here as well. I have had my 3210 for about 2 weeks and here are my experiences.

Pros:

i) Scanning resolution and overall quality is quite good.

ii) Printing quality is also good. I wasn''t planning on doing a ton of printing but based on experiences I will probably do more than anticipated because of the good results.

iii) Scanning and printing are both pretty quick. Marketed as the fastest picture printer all-in-one on the market... can''t compare with others but I suspect they are correct here.

iv) I was happy to find in my research that replacement ink cartridges are NOT terribly expensive and they are easy to replace and know if they are running low.

Cons:

i) Paper magazine is small so it doesn''t hold a lot -minor.

ii) Software install was more of a pain than I was expecting. Installation on WinXP SP1 was generally OK but on WinXP SP2 it was a struggle. Not HP''s fault, certainly, but they weren''t able to make the installation easier to prevent some of these isssues or frustrations. I hope they have a lot of tech support people available as this product sells.

iii) Network configuration was not as automated or straight forward as they could have been.

iv) Software interface isn''t as easy and fluid as it could be. I think that those who purchase this product that don''t have some comfort with computers will be on the phone with HP often.

Overall, I am pleased with the purchase thus far but still have some configuration to work through. In HP''s defense, I haven''t called or emailed their tech support -but I shouldn''t have to and my schedule makes this tough. Again, I feel the hardware implementation is quite good but their installation software and interface is lacking.

After reading all the reviews here, and against my better judgment, I bought a 3210 because it had the exact features I was looking for in a multi-function device. My experience was light years apart from what the others have left on this site. Please understand that I carefully read the instructions and gave some thought to the process before connecting the printer to my network. Additionally, my system is clean and well maintained; i.e., I have no spyware, adware or viruses, and run weekly scans to keep it that way. Your mileage may differ.

Software install no issues. At 1.1GB it''s a big install, but I had no problems with it. The installer correctly detected my firewall and had me disable it after I detached my network from the Internet. After the required reboot, it finished installing without any hiccups. I also made sure to click on the "HP Software Update" within the HP Solution Center before doing anything further, installed the rest of the updates and rebooted. Again, no issues at all after making sure the software load was completely current.

Network configuration no issues. I have a custom configuration for my network; I setup the IP address on the 3210 manually and added the printer to my router and firewall *before* installing the software. During the installation process, the installer spotted the printer at the correct IP address that I had already given it and moved forward without any incident.

Paper pickup and out of paper notices no issues. I use GP Advantage Premium Ink Jet paper from CostCo and am having no issues whatsoever. Same thing with bulk Kodak photo paper from CostCo. Most inkjet printers have an issue with overfilling the paper tray, so I keep mine under filled. No problems with getting erroneous out of paper messages. The plain paper output looks acceptable in rough draft and stellar in high resolution; the photo paper output is just drop dead gorgeous in hi-res; neither paper exhibited any evidence of gouges.

PDF creation no issues. The software works as designed, without wasting any paper or creating gibberish. Black and white, gray or color, all the settings worked as I expected them to and created perfect PDF documents.

Hardware buttons no issues. All the buttons work like they should on the printer. Additionally, all the buttons within the software residing on the PC work as advertised as well.

Ink usage no issues. The ink usage is as I expect so far. With plain paper I use the draft mode on everything except for what others see; I never print photos of any kind on plain paper (plain paper is a sponge for printer ink). With photo paper I use a very glossy finish, which helps keep the ink usage down. I was quite surprised by the tiny containers of ink that are used in the printer, but nothing more than that. I''ll have a better idea how the 3210 ink usage compares to my old inkjet this next Christmas when I print out my annual calendar gifts to family members.

Noise no issues. Compared to many other printers and scanners I''ve used over the years, both HP and non-HP, the 3210 is *very* quiet. The sound rises when scanning really high DPI levels, but is whisper quiet at the default 300 DPI for low-res scans.

Overall impressions 5 stars. The printing is superb, the device is quiet, it has built-in networking, everything works as I expect for it to; what''s not to like? My experience has been unlike the others listed here don''t know why and I''ll continue to buy and recommend HP products.

Being a fond believer in HP products, and a strong believer in doing my research before I buy something, I picked up a 3210 in December 05''. After the first 150 prints the printer stopped picking up the paper and it would say it was out or paper. I had to open the back of the printer and clean off the rollers to get it to work.

BUT!!! Then I talked to a local HP Sales representative in the store, and he stated that HP dropped one of their roller manufacturers for this reason. They were manufacturing a roller that would also leak fluid causing the paper pickup to slip. (They are a gray color if you open the back of the printer) HP has a new company that supplies new rollers (Black color) If you end up with a printer and after the first 100-1000 prints you are having this problem, check the color of the rollers. I am guessing they will be gray in color. In any case, if you are having this issue, make sure you call HP and talk to someone that knows of this issue. They will honor this issue, and you will receive a new printer. Not ALL gray rollers have this issue either! The tech department of HP are aware of the flaw. (why else would they drop the manufacturer :))

After my new printer, with the black rollers, I am up and running for over 5000 prints already. GO HP!!!!!

I purchased the HP 3210 to replace a six year old laser printer. I read several reviews before deciding on this model, but apparently I didn''t read closely enough.

Setup of the printer was a breeze, and for the first week or two things seemed to work flawlessly. Most of what I do at home is just some light document printing, which worked like a charm. I also played with the scanning, as well as the copying of a photo, which was really very cool. Again, it just worked great and I was pleased with the purchase.

Then after a couple of weeks I started getting an "Out of Paper" message on the display, despite the fact that the tray was full. I did all the usual stuff, pulled the tray out, reshuffled the paper, put it back in, and reset. The printer seemed to work OK again, until the next time I''d print a document.

Honestly I really didn''t pay that much attention to the issue until the other day when I was doing some research for my job and wanted to print out a 45 page document. A complete nightmare; I spent 2 hours of a Sunday afternoon just trying to get the output. It would print a page, then give me the error. I hit the OK button, it clicks and whirs a little, spits out another page, and then the same error.

This all happened while using HP''s premium Inkjet paper. I tried another brand of multi-purpose paper (20# weight instead of 24#) with equally poor results.

The problem has just gotten progressively worse, and I''m at a loss as to what to do. I purchased at Circuit City in early April so I doubt they will accept a return. My only recourse will probably be to contact HP, which I haven''t tried yet but will.

It is really a shame because, aside from this major problem, the printer is everything I need. The right size, functions, etc. Now I''m just hoping that I can recoup some of my investment.

I''m very disappointed and really expected more from HP. Obviously, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this printer.

*****ADDENDUM*****

6/11/06: After writing the above review I contacted HP tech support regarding the "Out of Paper" problem. I was expecting this to be a nightmare but I was actually quite impressed with the hold time (less than 2 minutes) and customer service. Anyway, after describing the problem the HP rep acknowledged that this has been a documented issue with this model. Of course he put a postive spin on it and said "since this is a new printer and the technology is very precise, etc.). Bottom-line: By default the printer is set to "Automatic" paper size and "Automatic" paper type. The HP rep instructed me to change these settings to "Letter" and "Premium Inkjet Paper" respectively. Doing this did in fact seem to solve the problem. So in essence, the "Automatic" settings do not work on this printer (as obviously they should). However this "workaround" is acceptable. *If you do try this be sure to save the settings as turning off the printer will reset the defaults back to "Automatic" unless you have taken the extra step to save settings.

One last note: Even with these settings changes I did still receive the dreaded "Out of Paper" message when the tray got a little low (about 10-15 sheets left). Anyway, I''m going to work with it for a few days and see how it goes.

I still wish I''d bought the Canon Pixma MP800!

Just recently I have been looking for an all in one printer that can also print good quality photos. I have always bought HP printers so I went to the hp site and looked at what they offered and decided to buy the hp photosmart 3210. So I came to amazon and was surprised to get it at a really great price.

Anyway, after ordering I noticed many negative reviews here, mostly about paper feed problems. I was a little worried after reading so many bad reviews but I''m glad I bought it, it is a great printer. In one review I read something about hp having problems with the rollers which was causing the paper feed issue and that they dropped that company and started using new rollers which are black rather than gray. So the first thing I did when it arrived was open the back and check the roller color and they were black.

So far I have printed over 100 pages and havent had any paper feed problems. Software install was really simple and i didnt have any problems with it. The photo quality is great even on the normal quality setting. Also the ink doesnt seem to get used up that quick, as i said before, i have printed over 100 pages and about 20 photos and the ink levels havent really gone down at all.

I have recommended this printer to a friend and he has placed on order for it and i would recommend it for anyone else looking for a great all in one printer that can do great quality photos. It seems that HP has fixed the paper feed issue with the black rollers. If I have any problems with paper feed I will update my review.
