The password for the software accompanying the product did not load properly and could only be used once. We contacted the company twice. They told us they would send the necessary software through the mail. We never received it and they have not returned our calls.

This product is amazing, and it''s bigger than you think it is. Turns smoothly, with no wrinkles or bubbles in the final product. It''s perfect for velum or fiberous thin papers, which are always difficult to attach, (because glue shows through horribly.) I would have gladly paid twice as much for this product now that I''ve tried it. (If you''re planning on making stickers out of regular cardstock to paper though, you might as well just use glue. If you''re working with slightly see-through or plastic papers however, this is the perfect product for you.)

My daughter recieved this over three years ago. I keep buying cartridge refills. It''s a very durabale product that she uses over and over again. She loves cutting pictures and designs off of wrapping paper scraps and putting them through the sticker maker to make matching cards for the gifts. Great for scrapbooking. I purchased this for my five-year-old daughter instead of buying one of the kids'' version of it. It is so simple and easy to use that an unsupervised five-year-old can work it. The sticker material is not inexpensive, but the machine is efficient at how it uses it. With a little bit of tutoring my daughter knows how to conserve the tape and make it last a while. Let me start by saying that I am not into scrapbooking and I don''t consider myself to be very creative. However, I have a five year old son who absolutely LOVES to do crafts. I picked up this sticker maker on Amazon at a great price and it is so incredibly easy to use. I am so impressed by how well the finished product sticks to the page!! Even cutouts from magazines stick perfectly! My son and I printed some photos off our computer, cut them down to size, and made a bunch of stickers. My son them placed the stickers onto a card for his older brother who just joined the air force. My son basically made the stickers himself, but I just stuck around to supervise. I don''t think the rolls are going to last very long, so we are going to have to buy some replacements, but they will be well worth it! In the past, I''ve used business cards as place cards and have the templates to print them in the DI Pro software, but it''s so much nicer to have the tent style cards for the table, I was happy to switch. I like to put a picture on the cards and a greeting as well as the person''s name. The picture might be one I''ve taken or from ClipArt and provides a nice background to enhance the party''s theme. For Thanksgiving dinner, I chose a ClipArt scene of colorful gourds as my background, then added a ''Happy Thanksgiving'' banner in outlined shaped text in coordinating colors and then the person''s name below. I find the DI Pro software gives me many more options and is easier to use for these activities, so although I could copy the created place card and paste it into the Word template that was a step that slowed the process. The other part of the process that annoyed me in the Word template was not being able to see the outline of the card in the template document. In DI Pro, I can see that outline and can enlarge the picture to fully cover the card surface if needed. In this case, I ended up with white space around two sides of the card.
For business meetings where the cards will be more formal and Word software options are satisfactory, the template is great, but for dinner parties I want more flexibility than Word can provide. Because of how the cards are placed on the sheet, none of the other older templates can be used.
The cards do release from the sheet perfectly with smooth edges and make a very nice table accent, so I''m pleased with them, but do wish I had more options for software creation.

I''ve used these tent cards to create escort cards for my wedding. It worked out perfectly. The cards might be a bit thinner than the once you can get custom made from bridal salons / printers. However don''t let that discourage you from trying these out. Once you put your own creativity into these they are going to be totally worth it. This printer is fast, does great quality prints and is pretty quiet. I also really like the sleek design. The picture above does not do it justice. I''ve been getting compliments from co-workers about how cool it looks. It really is nicely designed and doesn''t take up too much space.
I''ve used HP printers for years and have always found them to last an extremely long time. I usually replace mine because I want a faster one before I replace one for breaking down. Also, I want to mention that I bought an Epson about a year ago because I heard about how great they were and I was very dissapointed. The Epson ink cartridges do NOT have new printer heads on the bottom of them, like HP and many other brands do. Because of this, the Epson print heads routinely dry out, get full of gunk and refuse to print, or cause a lot of smearing on your documents. I''ve had to take my Epson apart twice to remove gunk from it, and I am still not satisfied with its print quality. All other things aside, you should pick HP over Epson just for the shear fact that every time you put a new cartridge in you are also replacing the print head.
I brought my 5650 home tonight because I needed to print something on my home computer and my Epson was acting up again. Installation on WinXP was a breeze. I didn''t have my cd with me so I just downloaded the software from the HP website and had no problems.
Bottom line: This is a great printer for the price and I recommend it to anyone looking for work or home office use.

First off this is the easiest printer I have ever encountered. Installation took about 10 minutes at the most. I have Norton anti-virus program and was never asked to disable it (don''t know why you would). Also we have a home network with 3 computers and everyone can use the printer with no problem (2 computers running on XP home and 1 on XP Pro.) As for the pictures they are amazing. It takes about 2 seconds to swap out the black cartridge for the photo cartridge and your off. 4X6 borderless prints at the maximum dpi (4800X1200) in less than 60 seconds and 8X10 in about 90 seconds. Its fast and no one will never know that you printed the photo. I have had family members ask me where I had my digital pictures developed. The pictures are just amazing you will be in shock when you print the first one.Yes, there is a lack of directions but just do a little poking around and you can figure out how to use the printer.
This was a gift to me and I would recommend if you know someone who wants a photo printer to get this one or another HP. HP makes the best photo printers as far as I have found. And the ink is much cheaper than any other printer manufacture (about $19.99 for black, $24.99 for photo and $34.99 for tri color).
Lastly paper does matter. If you want to frame a photo buy the good stuff. The price seems steep but $20.00 for 60 photos'' is really not that bad (just a lot to shell out up front).

HP printers have been my favorite for many years, but this particular printer is subpar. It''s construction is noticeably flimsier than previous models, and it has compatability issues with a number of programs, including at least some versions of PrintMaster. I installed this printer on three different computers running two different operating systems (XP and ME) and the software installed differently on all three computers, even the two that are both running XP. HP''s troubleshooting and maintenance software used to be excellent, but with this model it is difficult to figure out how to print a self-test page, much less troubleshoot any problems that might arise.Also, this model is extremely particular about what paper you feed it. My old 722C would take anything, but the 5650 doesn''t. I wasn''t able to print at all on colored inkjet paper! Even HP Photo paper tends to jam in this printer! The automatic paper detect feature has a tendency to detect banner paper despite the fact that I have never used banner paper and this tends to cause the printer to lock up when I try to print.
The only reason the 5650 gets a two star rating from me rather than a one is due to the fact that it does print very nice photographs, particularly with the photo ink cartridge. Photos on the 5650 print sharper and clearer than even on previous HP models. That is, they do when the photo printer paper doesn''t jam in the machine.
I have had difficulty with Canon in the past, but my father has been using Epson printers for about as long as I have used HP and he has some very nice results. Also, Epson is addressing the true digital photography lab with many of its newer products. I think it is time for me to switch ....

Just got a new Dell computer (October 2003) was a little worried after reading the first Amazon review by jackbmichael. The printer was fairly easy to set-up and self-installed after loading the enclosed HP software just thought I''d let any other Windows XP Home Edition users out there know.So, I purchased an HP printer, which began giving me problems within the first three weeks. I contacted HP tech for help, but alas, after hours of trying this and that (you know the drill) it was determined that I needed to return my printer to Best Buy, a mere five miles from my house. I still had a week for a simple exchange...but NOOOOO, the man (from another country, probably India) insisted that they didn''t want me to go through the trouble! Please let us send you a replacement via ups. I thought that was silly but he insisted. I told him that I could exchange this printer in less than an hour, but I caved and allowed him to send it to me
I did have another printer I could use in the meantime (my ancient Canon...it''s still ticking after seven years...) so it was no huge deal.
About one week later, UPS drops an HP box off on my porch.
The first thing that I notice is that it has a large sticker on it that says, "REFURBISHED IN MEXICO"
My thoughts were "WHAT THE ****!" REFURBISHED?
I refused the package (never opened it) and UPS picked it up a few days later.
I contacted HP and spoke to a rep who kept insisting that it was a good as new. (scripting, scripting, AAARGH!) I DIDN''T WANT as GOOD as NEW! I wanted NEW since that was what I had!! I was not happy and went in circles with them, reminding them that it was over the 30 days now in which I could have EASILY exchanged my HP at Best Buy. I was hugely insulted and felt very deceived.
I went to BB and explained the situation, giving them a copy of my online chat text with the rep. They were very cool about it and exchanged my printer for me, as a matter of fact I upgraded to an HP5650. In hindsight, I should have gone with another manufacturer altogether.
I contacted HP again and spoke to some higher up rep about this situation...and mind you, I don''t swear at people and was polite but assertive with my complaint to this woman...she was witch from the get-go...I told her that I thought the service was deceptive and I had to spend an awful lot of time on the phone, calling them, UPS, calling them again, and exchanging my unit because of what they had sent me. I could have simply exchanged the unit on the first day and it would have been done.
She said, "Well, what do you WANT from us?" very very curtly,
All I wanted was to be heard, have them admit their error and to have the two new ink cartridges that I was told to open(by their rep) for testing in my printer replaced. She finally agreed.
They sent me only one of the cartridges. Losers.
So, here I am with my HP5650, which has a history of being temperamental, getting hung up (turn it off, wait an hour, try again) but printed text and graphics very well otherwise.
Yesterday evening the carriage froze up. I could barely get the ink cartriges out, obviously, things are messed up. I can''t get the ink cartridges back in because the whole set-up in the carriage area is stuck. I''ve got two expensive ink cartridges left and this thing is now a piece of garbage. We even resorted to pounding on it. I am weary.
Never again will HP and I be associated in any way.

This paper is a fantastic marketing tool for Epson. Everyone raves about it. I''d like it if it would go through the Stylus Pro 3880 without scratching but it won''t. The transport rollers, tiny metal cogwheels in pairs approx. 1/8 inch apart running across the 17 inch width of the printer scratch the entire ink printed surface with parallel lines accented by the tips of the cogwheels. Also there was a problem with microscopic white dots in dark areas. I found out the white dots are a known issue (which Epson tech support did not tell me about) resulting from paper dust coating the new paper which flakes off after the ink dries. This topic turned up in extensive forum research and has been a big problem for Epson. Each piece must be carefully cleaned of paper dust before printing. The printing surface is much too delicate. Extreme caution must be used as it scratches easily. Must be spray coated with Krylon Crystal Clear or Hahnemule spray to prevent dry prints from scratching, which adds considerably to the cost and production time.I''m on my 4th replacement printer now and it is scratching the Exhibition Fiber paper, too. I now must send the paper back to Epson for a refund and look for a different, less archival, less desirable surface, probably resin coated paper that will run through the 3880 without scratching. This has been a big hassle for my business as I put much effort into marketing the archival and fine photographic quality of the 3880/Exhibition Fiber combination. Black and White prints made with advanced control of the 3880 on Exhibition Fiber do look great, until you notice the scratches. Bottom line: expensive paper ends up being more trouble than it''s worth.
Would love to hear from anyone who''s had similar issues with this paper and/or the Stylus Pro 3880, especially if you''ve got a solution.

Don''t buy this paper for everyday use. This is for special prints that you want to look best. It''s expensive paper, but in photo paper you get what you pay for. This is not a matte cotton rag paper; it''s a soft gloss photo paper. It will produce traditional looking photographic prints with extremely sharp detail, beautiful colors, and excellent contrast. Obviously, the quality of the printer will affect the final result as well. The newer Stylus Pro Epson printers come with a print setting specifically for this paper. I use it for prints that are in an exhibition, and for prints that I sell, made on an Epson 3880 8 color pigment ink printer. I''m using an HP Z5200 (44" wide, eight ink) printer and, after an extensive search, I''ve selected this paper for my portfolio.The Z5200 has a built-in spectrometer, so building a profile was easy.
The blacks are rich, the colors vivid, and the whites are as clean and bright as you can get without added whiteners.
I''ve been printing on 13"X19" sheets but I''ve now ordered several 24"X50'' rolls for my larger prints.
My only complaint is that it''s too damned expenisve to use for my "everyday" printing.

So, I bought it, brought it home, and within about 3 minutes, had it unpacked, plugged in, and linked up with the wireless network. It''s not a speed demon, nor does it have auto duplex, but it does print fast enough (19ppm) and prints come out looking sharp. And it''s very quiet it sits in power save mode until you print, then it immediately goes back into power save mode as soon as you''re done. Sure, that slows down the first page out time to about 5 seconds, but that''s a small price to pay when quiet = being able to easily concentrate.
The next day the "depot" store had it on sale for $69.99, so I showed them my receipt and got a $50 credit to my card for the difference. I would have bought it here on Amazon, but I needed it that day to do some work from home.
Anyways, if you''re in the market for a small laser printer, this one (so far) is a sure bet!

I got this printer for the amazing price of just $49.99 and it absolutely rocks! Being that I don''t print often, I was sick of having clogged and dried up ink cartridges in my inkjet printer. They cost a lot of money to replace and it just wasn''t worth the hassle. With this Samsung laser printer, I don''t have that problem anymore. Toner particles don''t dry like ink over time so I can leave this printer turned off for an extended period of time knowing that when I do have to use it, the toner display bar wouldn''t mysteriously be cut in half.
Quality
Not much to say on print quality. If you''ve ever seen a printout from a laser printer before, then this printer is right up that alley. Nothing special, nothing fancy. It just gets the job done. Personally, these cheap laser printers are great for printing out reports and other things that contain mainly of words and tables. Of course, it will also print pictures and whatnot but don''t expect it to rival that of black inkjet printers. For that, you''ll need a much more expensive laser printer than this one. For the price I paid for this, it''s worth every penny.
Maintenance
Laser printers don''t usually require a lot of maintenance like inkjet printers unless you have a defective model of some sort. These laser printers can print thousands and thousands of pages before anything needs changing. The best part is, a lot of problems you experience from a laser printer can be remedied by simply changing the toner cartridge. However, this is not true for every printer model. Besides keeping the unit clean of dust and whatnot, I''m just going to let this printer sit on my desk until I need to use it. The bad part to this is I will have no idea whether or not the printer I purchased is defective or not. By rarely using the printer, it won''t undergo a "stress-test" of sort. Other users complain that their printer go bad after only a couple of weeks. That''s a good thing in this retrospect because they at least now know to return it or to fix it. As far as changing toner cartridges go, it''s as simple as lifting the printer cover up, removing the old cartridge by pulling on the handle and inserting the new one in until it snaps into place.
I''m reading users having difficulty setting up this printer on their wireless network. I hardly can believe this because the process is so simple!
1. Run the setup program you''ve downloaded from Samsung''s website or from the included CD. Rather than selecting Install Now, you''re going to click the Wireless Setting and Installation link instead.
2. Your printer will then begin picking up all the wireless connections it can find and display it back to you. Your home wireless network should be in this list!
3. Once you have selected your wireless network, it will then ask for the wireless network key.
4. Next, you''ll confirm the settings. By default, the printer will use DHCP to obtain an IP address for itself. This is OK in most situations. If you want to, you can assign the printer its own dedicated TCP/IP settings by clicking on the Change TCP/IP button in this window.
5. Next, you''ll confirm the printer connection.
6. In the software installation screen, be sure to install the printer driver. You can optionally choose to install the Smart Panel application as well.
For such a low price, I am absolutely satisfied with this laser printer. The printer is so small, you''ll hardly even notice it. I am being dead serious. My desk is already small as it is and so this printer was perfect bundled next to my laptop. For such a low price, I was even shocked to learn that it had wireless capabilities. I now no longer have to power up my laptop first (which would be plugged in via USB) before other computers in my house can use it! They can all instantly print to it.

I had heard about cheap laser printers, but was skeptical. I finally got fed up with the ink jet crap of very expensive cartridges that seem to plug up often.I read up on Lasers and decided on the Sammy. I avoided HP because the company is in trouble and didn''t want to get stuck with an unsupported printer..
The instruction book was good, but tiny print hard to read. There is a copy on install disk, easier to read. DON''T MESS WITH THE WIFI BUTTON UNTIL YOU READ INSTRUCTIONS OR DO INSTALL PROGRAM...
The WIFI was icing on the cake... Notes on WIFI.
The sammy comes with a AD-hoc connection (no security)just a plug in go set up. I did not use it....
NOTE: VERY IMPORTANT, be sure your installation computer is attached to the network by a wifi connection. DO NOT use a computer that is wired (RJ45) to the router unless you are not using PRINTER wifi connection..
Note: be sure to write down the net security set up from your router to avoid errors before you start. Also NEVER touch the wifi button on the printer during installation process. The install program takes care of that...
My home net is WPA2 personal using tkip+AES. So I installed the wifi using the neat disk installation program.
1. plug in the usb cable and power, make sure the usb cable is tight in the printer end. The usb plug on printer is a bit loose fitting...
2. Turn on printer with paper loaded (do not touch the wifi button).
3.When install program comes up, choose the wifi option to install. DO NOT REMOVE THE USB CABLE UNTIL INSTALL PROGRAM TELLS YOU.
4. The install program brings up available networks. Choose your home net. Do not mess with the AD-hoc networks if they are shown.
5. next install screen is to enter your net passwords. Be very careful of the cap keys...
6. the next screen shows the net values picked up from your router. Jot them down for future ref. If all is well keep going.
7. the program will scan for the printer.
8. when printer is found carefully follow directions to remove the usb cable...

After installation, when you power up printer the wifi blue light will blink and when connected turn on solid. No need to touch the WIFI button...
The printer works great. It makes a gentle hum and spits out the completed page before you know it.. What a change from the bang, bang zip,zip slow screeching print of an ink jet. A color laser is only about 100 bucks more. Yeah the cartridges are expensive (~~ 128), but they don''t dry up.
The sammy goes into power saving mode when not in use. The print defaults in light mode to save the cartridge. The control program of printer can change it to a darker mode. The replacement cartridge runs about 50-60 bucks. From what I have read, best avoid off brands...
Windows 7 loves the printer. I had to update the printer list on older win 7 system (button on printer install screen). My win vista worked ok but not as friendly as win7. I have an old XP machine used for taxes. I don''t see any problems. I think I will down load the driver from Samsung. I don''t want the control programs on that computer.
Love my little Sammy, if it runs well, will be looking at a Sammy color in a few months and dump the ink jet junk.

The printer is working perfectly. The networking is very reliable. It is so nice to be able to print without having to share a printer on another computer, (major pain in the *ss).
It is fast and very quite. Most ink jets sound like a corn harvester...
I do a lot of printing and there is still a lot of cartridge left. Samsung controller program works nice.
I don''t miss color a bit. The printouts are very clear. It prints beautiful black and white photos
from color snaps... I use the inkjets for color when necessary (if the darn ink cartridge is not dried up)... Inkjets make good paper weights and money burners; that is about all they are good for....

I talked to Samsung''s online support about replacement drums for this printer, when I did not find them easily available on the internet. They said the drum must be replaced by their technician. Translation: once the drum wears out, throw the printer away. However the lifespan of the drum is supposed to be 30,000 pages, according to Samsung. Chances are, it will last somewhat longer, unless they have a "replace drum" light, like Brother lasers have, that mean the printer will simply stop working after a while.There is toner to refill it yourself, but you have to reset the chip. The toner company I usually buy from recommends a new cartridge after reusing one three times, but new cartridges seem to come only filled, from what I''ve been able to find, and those are pricey enough that I would rather buy a new printer at $60 than buy the cartridge. I see a compatible cartridge for just a dollar less than you would pay for a new printer.
So these are some considerations when buying this printer. It would probably be an excellent deal for someone who isn''t printing huge quantities. Or it might do for you to buy three or four of these printers at this price.
First, run the software that comes with the printer to set up the wireless settings on your printer. Then go into System Preferences > Print & Fax, then add a printer by clicking on the "+" button on the bottom left of the printers list. It should show up as Samsung ML-1865W Series and should say "Bonjour" under "Kind". Click Add and your done! You now have a wireless printer working with your Mac.

We bought ours from dell about a year ago. Our print head went bad after 2 months. Dell replaced it under warranty. Now, the print head is bad again, and, now we have no warranty. We have only printed 236 pages on this printer. The parts from Dell are 134.99. Ouch! The print head seems to be a common failure on these units. While the printer has GREAT features, replacing a print head every year is not a good way to go. While I do not blame Dell (I have been Very satified with their products), I must say that Dell should be ashamed for placing their name on this bad Lexmark product! If you want to make a career out of trying to print things from a printer, this is the one for you. I''ve had three of the exact same printers along with a new print head, all of which were sent to me courtesy of Dell due to problems they were unable to fix.The ink cartridges dry up easily when not used frequently and you waste ink running nozzle cleaning routines that don''t seem to do anything other than waste your ink. I printed a total of 15 pages from a high yield ink cartridge before it would not print any longer, that''s about $1.50 a page for black type printing.
The other major frustration with this printer is the amount of time it takes to print something. Even if all goes well with the cartridges, which is very rare, the printer does about 10 minutes of making noises before it even starts to print. If the cartridges do give you problems, it can completely consume an entire night just trying to print out a couple of pages.
I have had Dell printers before and have been very satisfied with most every aspect of them. This printer should have been recalled and customers given a new printer and free ink for life for the amount of frustration this printer can cause. Believe me when I say that the only thing this printer offers is FRUSTRATION!!!

The printer looks really nice, and on paper it has all the necessary features to be a good home printer. When you''re hooked up to it via USB cable, it works fine. However my intent was to use it as a network printer, as I usually use a laptop when I''m at home and therein lies the problem...Set up as a network printer, this thing is a nightmare and is basically unusable. Every time I''ve used it, whatever it is I''m trying to do (usually a really complicated advanced poweruser task like, oh I don''t know, "Print a one page black and white document" or "Scan one piece of paper with black and white letters on it"), it takes me an hour. Literally as I sit here typing this, I am waiting for the printer to turn itself back on after having unplugged it for ten seconds so I can scan one piece of paper. I''ve been trying to get it to scan for twenty minutes now.
There are no reproducible problems, there are no effective troubleshooting steps, I''ve just had to turn everything off and on again and again until I get lucky and it works. I''m not a technophobe, I''m not a dummy, I work in a technical field involving computers, and this thing is ridiculous. It''s like they never tested the network printing *at all*.
If you want a printer to connect to a computer with a cable, this one might be OK. But if you want a wireless network printer, do yourself a favor and look at a different printer.
(All that having been said, I''m sitting here in front of a Dell computer typing this. I love Dell computers. They''ve been my last four home computers. The printers? Not so much...)
